In R12, in Payroll Deposit adivce/Check writer, We need to sort the earnings tag <AC_Earnings> in to two different categories as regular and other earnings. In the DB and form level of element defintiion we have a DFF which differentiates between the two kinds of earnings. But the seeded XML that is gerneated by the check writer does not have this field.
The seeded template displays all the earnings in one column. How can we achieve this in the template without modifying the seeded XML.
The one approach i have is to write a function and based on the return value sort the data. For this I need to know :
1) How to call a SQL function from an XSL expression that is allowed in BI template.
If anyone ahs faced similar requirements please share your approach.

I have the App Store icon in the Dock. When there's an update a red number appears on said icon. Well, I went to check on the updates and it's for 4 different applications I either no longer have or use. One of them is an update for Lion OS users. I'm still on Snow Leopard, so it doesn't even apply to me.
So there they sit... I'm not going to download the updates... so how do I get rid of them?

If there are updates available for apps you have deleted, try this.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
Move the Cache.db and Updates files from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, restart your Mac.
For any apps you still have installed but do not use, the updates will still be available from the Updates top of the App Store window and show on the red badge on the App Store icon in the Dock.

How to execute a .sql file from a batch file

Hi all
I've to take backup of a database weekly twice on every wednesday & Friday @ 5pm IST. I've written a hot backup script, which works every well.
now i want to automate the script. ie i want this script to run on wednesday & friday @ 5pm without any human interfearance ie with out actually any1 executing this script.
i created a batch file prod.bak with the following lines
@echo off
set oracle_sid=testdb
set oracle_home=d:\oracle\ora92
sqlplus /nolog
connect sys as sysdba/oracletest@testdb
this batch file when eexecuted connects me to sql prompt.
Now i want to execute my backup script bkp.sql automatically when it is connected to sql prompt.
(i tried with these lines in the above batch file...
call bkp.sql---it just opens the bkp.sql file in notepad & displays the script
start bkp.sql---same as call
connect / as sysdba/pwd@[email protected] --- does not work simply remains a the sql prompt.
At 17:00 /Every:w,f "d:\bkp.sql"---does not work simply remains at the sql promt.)
Can any1 let me know what should i write in the batch file that will execute the bkp.sql file automatically after it gets connected to sql prompt. M using oracle 9i.
I'll manage he time through windows utility of scheduling task.. Let me know how to execute the .sql file from a batch file.

Try
sqlplus "sys/oracletest as sysdba" @bpk.sql
Working locally, and having set the ORACLE_SID, you don't need to specify the SqlNet alias (@testdb).
Remember to put an exit at the end of the bpk.sql script.

You don't. It's how things are done now, likely to accommodate those that have auto update turned on. IT's been said that the updates will just drop off after a period of time but time will tell on that.

I noticed that the output of the rdf-to-data template conversion process makes use of an undocumented feature of data templates, and I would like to get input from experts as to which situations this feature is usable.
The closest thing I can find in the documentation is a sample in the user guide. There is a "General Ledger Journals Data Template Example" that has a <dataStructure> section that contains <element> nodes which are NOT children of a <group> node. I can't find any explanation of this in the user guide.
I've noticed from converted templates that in these un-grouped elements you can make calls to PL/SQL functions in the "value" attribute, like this:

This happens a lot in the converted data templates, where pl/sql package functions are meant to replace formula columns from the original Oracle Report. Take this example from the conversion of ARXAGMW.rdf (Aging Report, 7 Buckets):

In the example above, elements Sum_Percent_B0_Inv through Sum_Percent_B6_Inv grab the results of the calculation done in set_percent_inv_invformula. Here is the essence of that function:

How to connect to SQL Server from Forms 10g?

Hello all,
How do we connect to SQL Server database from Forms 10g?
In Oracle Metalink site they have suggested using Transparent Gateway for SQL Server as a solution.
But is there a way we can connect directly to SQL Server from Forms using an ODBC connection
without installing anything on the database server?

Hello all,
I was able to connect to SQL Server from Oracle using Generic Connectivity (HSODBC).
Transparent gateway was not required.
Followed metalink note 109730.1
So, after I created a dblink to SQL Server, I created a synonym for the dblinked SQL Server table.
When I used the synonym as the table source in Oracle Forms, I got the following error while querying.
"ORA-02070 - ROWID is not supported in this context."
This is because Forms has an invisible ROWID field and when data is fetched from SQL Server table
no Rowid is fetched since SQL Server table doesn't have one.
Is there a way to overcome this issue or do we have populate the block manually using a SQL query ?
Pls suggest.

How to trigger a second workflow from a workflow?

Hi All,
          I want your guidance in deciding the process flow of a workflow to be developed.
          We have a scenario in our project where we have to develop a workflow for vendor creation/change
          done through a portal.Now we have designed to do through this 2 workflows.
          First workflow is triggered when the create/change is done in the portal and the entry is made in a
          z table.This is the trigger point of first workflow.
          First workflow will identify all approvals and store them in another z table with all the approval levels needed and the approval groups stored in the z table itself.
          Second flow will trigger on the entry made in this z table.It will read all approvals and send the mails to tha approvers in the respective aproval groups.
Now can you please verify this.Is it possible to trigger a second workflow from a workflow?
If yes then can you please explain the methodology to do the same?
Also if any other approach can be taken,please suggest the same.

First Develop a Z Business OBject (let ZVENDOR) to update the Z table when ever a Vendor is created or Changed.
Now For the first workflow do like this
From the WD application when the user clicks on the SAVE button then call the Function module SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW .
Develop a method in the ZVENDOR to update the Z table.Make the method as background.
Use the method that you have created in the above point in the first workflow but prior to this make sure that you have passed all the required information to the workflow.
Once the table is updated.
For Second Workflow
Create a Change document object for the Ztable.
And trigger the workflow when ever any entry is made or changed in the z table

How to isolate the Sql Statement from Java Code

I Need to know that can we segregate the Sql Statements and convert them to Stored Procedures so as to isolate the Sql statements from Java Code.
So i have one static web page which uses four select Statements so what i want is to create a stored procedure encapsulating these queries. So that the Java Web Developer will simply call the Stored Procedure instead of using four different SQL Statements.
Suppose the developer has these four Statements
Select ename,empno,sal,job from emp;
select empno,ename,mgr from emp;
select deptno,dname from dept;
select emp.ename,emp.empno,emp.deptno,dept,dname fromemp,dept;
So can i encapsulate these four Sql Statements in one Procedure and the Web developer can call the Store procedure and dont need to write the Sql Statements in his code.
Can Anybody guide me how to write this Stored type of Store procedure.

How could I investigate SQL statement from standard audit record ?

We use Oracle 11gR2.
We use standard audit , audit_trail=DB.
We found suspicious audit record but that SQL_BIND,SQL_TEXT colums were NULL.
How could I investigate that SQL statement from standard audit record ?

Only "DB, EXTENDED" would cause the SQL statement to be captured.
If you have the Diagnostics Pack licence you could try querying DBA_HIST_SQLTEXT (joined to DBA_HIST_SNAPSHOT) -- but this would only list SQLs captured by AWR (i.e. the "Top 'N'" SQLs in that snapshot).
