OBIEE10g: extending a fact table with a custom fact

Hello everyone!
I have the following problem: I created a table with, let's say only two fields: primary key COMMISSION_LINE_ID and a measure called PAID.
After joining my new table with the existing fact table on COMMISSION_LINE_ID both in the physical and logical layer, I tried to set my measure PAID with an aggregation level of SUM. If instead I do not set an aggregation level, everything works fine.
My goal is to aggregate it but the query always crashes with a message like the following:
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
Error Details
Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 14026] Unable to navigate requested expression:
Please fix the metadata consistency warnings. (HY000)
What can I do?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Delete the join in BMM layer and column mappings, just follow as I said earlier.
I would treat the new table as fact extension. Unlike dimension extensions(these go with LTS) fact tables need to map physically.
Just in case if you want to go with your own way as you've done-> You need to add all those dimension keys in new fact(ie F2) treat as 2nd LTS, this would result more or less as you do for aggregate tables.
Hope this helps, pls mark if it does

  • How to setup a gridPane/Table with a customer header/footer

    Hello -
    I'm going crazy trying to figure this one out and any help would be greatly appreciated!
    I'd like to create a table with a custom 4 column header and footer, but with a single cell as the "main" section holding a child table(another gridPanel, I presume). I've been using the headerClass property on the gridPanel, but not sure what this actually DOES. Do I need to use the "facet" tags manually to set up a header row? Basically, I'd like the effect of using graphics to create a "framed" effect for another table. I hope I've explained this okay :) Any thoughts/help would be so appreciated!

    Thanks,
    TomIn JSF terms, using a Panel Grid component, you can specify a header that goes across the top of the entire grid using a "header" facet. Likewise, the "footer" facet can set a footer that goes across the entire bottom of the grid. You might want something like this:
    <h:panelGrid ... columns="3">
      <f:facet name="header">
        <h:outputText value="This Is The Entire Header"/>
      </f:facet>
      <f:facet>
        <!-- An image across the bottom of the grid -->
        <h:graphicImage .../>
      </f:facet>
      <h:outputText value="Row 1 Column 1"/>
      <h:outputText value="Row 1 Column 2"/>
      <h:outputText value="Row 1 Column 3"/>
      <h:outputText value="Row 2 Column 1"/>
      <h:outputText value="Row 2 Column 2"/>
      <h:outputText value="Row 2 Column 3"/>
    </h:panelGrid>So, the "headerClass" attribute on a PanelGrid sets the CSS style class that will be used; it does not define the content of the header. Instead, you do that by embedding a component inside the facet.
    Creator doesn't currently have any GUI to help you set up the header and footer facets, but you can still add them in the JSP source mode.

  • JSF: Problems adding rows to table with custom method

    Since this being my first post, I find it only appropriate to thank the development team for such a huge addition to the application development world. You guys rock. You have cured my Java identity crisis. That being said...
    I have been stumped for days. I'm making a simple web cart. I am trying to get two string values (name and price) passed through a custom exposed application module method ran on a backing bean. What I want the exposed VO module to do is, upon receiving the two strings, create a new row on the empty data controlled table I have built to store them. Basically I just need to add rows to a table with my custom managed bean. Most recent version.
    I have written a test method to make sure my backing bean and exposed app module impl were working. This test works:
    //WORKS
    //CartInfo.java
        public String cb1_action() {
            AppModuleImpl am = new AppModuleImpl();
            am.testMethod();
            return null;
    //AppModuleImp.java
        public void testMethod() {
            System.out.println("WORKS");
        }I found some code on how to add rows and unfortunately it isn't working out for some reason. Here is what is producing the error "Caused By: java.lang.NullPointerException" :
    //DOESN'T WORK IN CUSTOM METHOD BUT WORKS WHEN DRAGGED ON TO THE PAGE AS A COMMAND BUTTON
    //CartInfo.java
        public String cb1_action() {
            AppModuleImpl am = new AppModuleImpl();
            am.testMethod("test", "test");
            return null;
    //AppModuleImp.java
           public void testMethod(String pName,String pPrice) {
            ViewObjectImpl vo = this.getCartVO1();
            Row r = vo.createRow();
            r.setAttribute("NAME", pName);
            r.setAttribute("PRICE", pPrice);
            vo.insertRow(r);
    //The VO attributes for the DC are:
    // Name : Type : Alias Name : Entity Usage : Info
    NAME : String : NAME : (blank) : Transient
    PRICE : String : PRICE : (blank) : TransientSo what I have so far is a table linked to my database. A user can select and click on a product on the row's individual Add button and using a modified selection listener, it returns the values to the backing_bean.
    Then what I want it to do is have those variables passed to the other table. I just can't put it together.
    Please if there is anyone that could send me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!
    Thank you,
    Jack

    if i understand you, you want to call application module method when user clicks on add button on the UI and your table is from VO
    so what i can come up for now is:
    1) create variable binding from the iterator for both name and price.
    2) on your UI action button :
    <af:commandButton actionListener="yourbean.addToCart">
    <f:attribute name="pName" value ="binding.<created name bind variable>"
    <f:attribute name="pPrice" value = "binding.<created price bind variable>"
    </af:commandButton>
    3) custom Managed Bean:
    //yourBean.java
    public void addToCart(ActionEvent e){
    // get binding here
    // use executeWitParams method to send parameter to the function "testMethod" and execute
    //AppModuleImp.java
    public void testMethod(String pName,String pPrice) {
    CardVOImpl vo = this.getCartVO1();
    CardVORowImpl r = (CardVORowImpl)vo.createRow();
    r.setAttribute("NAME", pName);
    r.setAttribute("PRICE", pPrice);
    vo.insertRow(r);
    Hope this helps...
    Let me know if not..
    Thanks

  • How to populate a jsf table with an array?

    I have a JSF project where I'm using a table and I would like to populate that table with some custom information without using a database. I'm trying to write my own data provider. I was wondering if anyone knows how to populate a jsf table using an array. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hey thanks for replying. I'm not quite sure what you mean, but I am using a woodstock table in Netbeans. I would love to skip writing the data provider since I've never done that before, but I'm not sure how I would go about populating the table with a regular List or Model. I have populated a JTable with my own model, but never a woodstock table. They don't seem to work the same way. Thanks for the help. I've spent hours trying to figure this out.

  • Enhance MDG BP UI with an custom table

    Hi All,
    I am enhancing MDG Supplier Governance UI Purchase Organisation with an custom table.
    I have created data model also Dependent Object has been created but my issue is in UI where m using List UIBB and want this List UI to be instantiated with customizing table data  ( means 0 to multiple line in list ui). as this entity object is created at BOL layer so how to create multiple object of entity in list UI with predefined data in feeder class.    .
    Please if anyone don't understand my points ask me.
    if there is any doc. please refer.
    thanks in advance.

    I'm still not sure of the problem. I suggest you review these two documents as they detail in a step-by-step manner how you can extend the BP and Supplier data model and UI. Reuse option means a Z table:

  • Load fact table with null dimension keys

    Dear All,
    We have OWB 10g R2 and ROLAP star schema. In our source system some rows don’t have all attributes populated with values (null value), and this empty attributes are dimension (business) keys in star schema. Is it possible to load fact table with such rows (some dimension keys are null) in the OWB mappings? We use cube operator in mappings.
    Thanks And Regards
    Miran

    The dimension should have a row indicating UNKNOWN, this will have a business key outside of the normal range e.g. -999999.
    In the mapping the missing business keys can then be NVL'd to -999999.
    Cheers

  • How to change recon.account directly in Table with out changing customizing

    Hi Gurus,
    I want to change Customer reconciliation account but this is not possible any more due to display option for reconciliation account in customizing.
    I know I can change customizing and then change the reconciliation account, but there is a better way doing this.
    We can change this directly in the table without changing customizing, but I don't know how to do this. Does any one know how to change directly in the table?
    Many thanks in advance

    Hi there,
    The steps that you should take include:
    1. go to SE16
    2. put knb1
    3. on the field selection input the customer you want to edit
    4. Execute
    5. type to the transaction field /h and press Enter
    6. double click to the customer line item you want to change the recon
    7. this will navigate you to the debug environment
    8. on the debug environment press find/search button -or- CTRL+F to find a keyword code
    9. you should see  if code = 'SHOW'.
    10. now please double click on the word "code" to set the Breakpoint
    11. Press F7
    12. you will see the program routine will stop at if code = 'SHOW'.
    13. Double click on the word 'code'
    14. 'code' will appear on the righ hand side with value = 'SHOW'
    15. change the value of 'SHOW' to 'EDIT' by double clicking the Edit icon (pencil) and replacing the value of SHOW to EDIT
    16. press Enter
    17. press F8
    18. you can now change the recon field
    19. Press SAVE button
    20. Double click 2x (or more) on the STOP sign, until your breakpoint is gone
    21. press F8 and you should see the message of "Database Record successfully created"
    Good luck!

  • Maintenance View for custom table with foreign key relationship

    Hi Folks,
         I have created a custom table with foreign key relationship with other check tables. I want to create a maintenance view / tablemaintenance generator. What all things I need to take care for the foreign keys related fields while creating the maintenance view / tablemaintenance generator.
    Regards,
      santosh

    Hi,
    You do not have to do anything explicitely for the foreign key relationships in the table maintainance generator.
    Create the table maintainance generator via SE11 and it will take care of all teh foreign key checks by itself.

  • Select count from large fact tables with bitmap indexes on them

    Hi..
    I have several large fact tables with bitmap indexes on them, and when I do a select count from these tables, I get a different result than when I do a select count, column one from the table, group by column one. I don't have any null values in these columns. Is there a patch or a one-off that can rectify this.
    Thx

    You may have corruption in the index if the queries ...
    Select /*+ full(t) */ count(*) from my_table t
    ... and ...
    Select /*+ index_combine(t my_index) */ count(*) from my_table t;
    ... give different results.
    Look at metalink for patches, and in the meantime drop-and-recreate the indexes or make them unusable then rebuild them.

  • Join fact table with higher dimension level

    how do i join fact tables with higher dimension levels with discoverer?
    fact with detail at level C
    measure X
    dimension with
    D->C->B->A
    E->C
    level
    A B C
    1------1------1
    2------2------1
    3------2------1
    join between fact X and dimension level C
    X=3*C because of sum(X) in discoverer and 3xC in dimension
    is there a way to get correct values for X without creating a dimension like
    D->C
    E->

    another way of asking this is whether you can create a summary table in Discoverer at a higher level than a dimension's fundamental grain. In other words - the summary examples in the documentation all describe leaving out one or more of your dimensions... they are either left in or completely taken out. But, some of the most effective summarization occurs when you summarize daily data to a monthly level. Assuming that I have a sales table (at a daily level, and a key value sales_date), and a table date_dim (primary key sales_date), I would like to create a summary sales_month_summary where the sales are grouped on month_year (which is a field in the sales_date table).
    How is this done? I suspect that we can't use the date_dim table with the summary (due to the problems noted by the poster above). Do we have to create another table "month_dim"? Do we have to fold all of the desired date attributes (month, quarter, year) into the summary? Obviously we'd like to re-use all of the pertinent already existing date items (quarter, month, year, etc.), not recreate them over again, which would result in essentially two sets of items in the EUL. [One used for this month summary, and another used for the detail.]
    I searched the forum - someone asked this same question back in 2000 - there was no answer provided.
    The only other thought I have is to "snowflake" the date_dim into two tables and two folders, one at a date level, another at the month level. Then the detail tables can connect to date_dim (which is linked to month_dim), while the summary data can connect directly to month_dim.

  • Joining two fact tables with different dimensions into single logical table

    Hi Gurus,
    I try to accomplish in Oracle Business Intelligence 11.1.1.3.0:
    F1 (D1, D2 and D3)
    F2 (D1 and D2 and D4)
    And we want to build a report F1 F2 D1 D2 D3 D4 to have data for:
    F1 that match only for D1-D2-D3
    and data for
    F2 that match only D1-D2-D4
    all that in one row, so D3 and D4 are not common dimensions.
    I can only do:
    F3 (D1, D2)
    F4 (D1, D2 and D4)
    And report
    F3 F4 D1,D2,D4 (all that in one row, and only D4 is not a common dimension)
    Here is the very good example how to accomplish the scenario 1
    http://108obiee.blogspot.com/2009/08/joining-two-fact-tables-with-different.html
    But looks like it does not work in 11.1.1.3.0
    I get
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 14025] No fact table exists at the requested level of detail: [,,Clients,,Day,ROI,,,,EW_Names,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,]. (HY000)
    I am sure I set up everything correctly as advised in the blog but it works with only one not a common dimension
    Is it a bug in 11.1.1.3.0 or something?
    Thanks,
    Kate

    Thanks for all your replies.
    Actually, I've tried the solutions you guys mentioned. Generally speaking, the result should be displayed. However, my scenario is a little bit tricky.
    table Y's figures are not the aggregation of table X for D dimension. Instead, table Y's figures include not only D dimension total, but also others (others do not mean A, B, C dimension). For example, table Y stores all food's figure, while table X stores only drink's figure. D dimension is only about drink's detail. In my scenario, other foods' figure is not provided.
    So, even if I set D dimension to all/total for table X, table X's result is still not the same as table Y.
    Indeed, table Y does not have a column key to join to D dimension's key. So, if I select D dimension and table Y's measures at the same time in BI Answer, result returns no data. Hence, I can't compare table X and table Y's results with selection of D dimension.
    Is there any solution to solve this problem?

  • Logical fact table with fragmented data sources with different dimensions

    Hello.
    I have a logical fact table with four logical table sources. Three of the LTS's share the same dimensions, but the fourth LTS has one dimension (called Dim_A) less. In the physical layer the dimension Dim_A is joined to the first three physical fact tables, but not to the fourth fact table (since it doesn't have that dimensionality). In the BMM layer the logical fact table is joines to the logical dimansion Dim_A.
    When I run an analysis on this RPD the measures from the logical fact is aggregated correctly (union of all four table sources) as long as I doesn't include Dim_A, but as soon as I include dimension Dim_A I get the error message:
    +State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 14052] Internal Error: Logical column Dim_A.Column_X has no physical sources that can be joined to the physical fact table source [Logical table sources (Priority=0): Fact_B.Fact_Y]. (HY000)+
    I would like a solution where the analysis returns correctly aggregated measures also for the LTS with the "missing" dimension, but with a dimension value NULL for this LTS. Or something like this.
    Is there a way to set this up in the RPD.
    Thanks,
    Henning Eriksen

    The SQL could look something like this.
    SELECT dim_a.col_1, fact_a.measure_1
    FROM db.dim_a
    JOIN
    db.fact_a
    ON fact_a.col_2 = dim_a.col_2
    WHERE fact_a.date = '28-nov-2012'
    UNION ALL
    SELECT dim_a.col_1, SUM (fact_b.measure_1)
    FROM db.dim_a
    JOIN
    db.fact_b
    ON fact_b.col_2 = dim_a.col_2
    WHERE fact_b.date = '28-nov-2012'
    UNION ALL
    SELECT dim_a.col_1, SUM (fact_c.measure_1)
    FROM db.dim_a
    JOIN
    db.fact_c
    ON fact_c.col_2 = dim_a.col_2
    WHERE fact_c.date = '28-nov-2012'
    UNION ALL
    SELECT NULL, SUM (fact_d.measure_1)
    FROM    db.fact_d
    WHERE fact_d.date = '28-nov-2012'
    I would appreciate if you could give me some hints for the RPD.
    Thanks,

  • How to handle Fact tables with different granularity in OBIEE 11g RPD

    Hello Everyone,
    I have got stuck here and need your help.
    I have two fact tables (Say F1 and F2... F1 is containing data at month-level and F2 is containing data at day level) and one Date DIMENSION TABLE. Date_Code is the PK of Date dimension table.I need to use time-series functions also.
    Can anyone tell me how to model this requirement in the RPD.
    Can we use a single dimension table(Here Date dimension table) with two fact table of different grainularity? What would be the best way to implement this requirement?
    Thanks in advance :)

    Hi Veeravalli,
    Thanks for your reply :)
    Let me explain the problem in more detail. I have one Date dimension(Date_Code,Month_Code,Quarter_Code,Half_Year_Code,Year_Code). Here Date_Code is the PK.
    In F1---->Date (Using Month_Code key)
    F2-------->Date (Using Date_Code Key)
    Level based hierarchy is there starting from Year to Date.Each level has PK defined and chronological key selected.
    F1 has level set to Month and F2 has level set to Day.
    Now if i am using ago() function on measure of F2 (having day level data) then it's working fine but if i am using ago() function on measure of F1...I am getting an error at Presentation service: Date_code must be projected for time-series functions.
    So the whole issue is with time-series functions. As per my research...I think for time series the tables in the physical model containing the time dimension cannot join to other data sources, except at the most detailed level but here i am joining with F1(using Month_Code which is not the most detailed level).
    So kindly let me know how to achieve this in rpd?
