OBIEE1g Setup Global Number Format

Hi,
I have installed OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5.) and OBIA 7.9.6.3 on linux environment. I am now creating new reports / executing new reports through BI Answers and all the number columns are suppressing decimal values. Is there a way I can setup Number Format at instance level in the configuration file?
I have looked into the $ORACLE_INSTANCE//bifoundation/web/display/localedefinitions.xml file and setup Negative sign but I am unable to search on decimal setting on number columns?
Many Thanks,
Satyen

Hi,
In the report you can individually change the properties and then make it as 'Save as system-wide with same data type'.
Column properties->data format->override default->percentage.
And it will reflect in all the column will same data type.
Hope this helps

  • Global Custom Number format

Hi, I've searched in the forum and help for this to no avail.
It seems that you should be able to define a custom number format and have it stored so that you can use it again. But whenever I do this it only applies to that document.
Is there a way to have custom formats stored in the Cell Format list?

I don't know how to make it "global" but you can open the blank template, make your custom format, then save the document as a template and it will be in any new document you create with that new template.

  • How to globally modify number formatting in Crystal Reports

How do I globally modify the number formatting in Crystal Reports to NOT use the default which is “System Default Number Format”? The goal is to modify the number formatting to NOT contain commas. This modification should be global and should apply to any local account that will launch and use Crystal Reports on the server where it is installed. Can anyone help?

    Hi Raghavendra,
For new reports, we have tried the setting you specified.  The question is, how can we force Crystal Reports to “keep” and “retain” the adjusted format globally every time users create a new report?
    Thank you!

  • Portal Form: Number Format Mask Accepted Values

Hi, i'm trying to format the way numbers are displayed in our forms, specifically instead of 50,000.00 we want 50,000 - without the .00.
I cannot find anything on format masks in the portal documentation, and the standard oracle masks I have looked up such as "NNNN" etc don't seem to be supported.
Trial and error has yielded a mask of : 99,999,999 which does get rid of the decimal, but introduces a problem where if the value is smaller than the mask it is shifted into the middle of the field (leading spaces are being added for every missing unit that is specified in the mask), but obviously if a smaller mask definition is used then larger numbers appear as ###### which is worse than the leading zero problem.
Where in the documentation can I find the accepted forms of numerical number format masks for use in portal forms?
    Thanks..

Let me know if you find a solution to this. I even asked my Oracle instructor and she couldn't tell me how to setup a date format mask. This is what she gave me which doesn't work, but I'm not saying I'm the quickest race car at the track. lol
    "Hi,
Try the following format mask "("099")""-"099"-"0999. They have an example of this on page 7-12. I'm not sure if OTN may have a listing of any Forms format mask. Search under Forms Developer and see if you find anything.
    Take care,
    L"

  • Solved: Pick Number format mask

    Hello,
I'm trying to format all my numbers to a specific model:
    999G999G999G999G990D00
I tried doing it like I did with 'PICK_DATE_FORMAT_MASK', where I define my format under
    "Application Attributes>Definition". I called it PICK_NUMBER_FORMAT_MASK'.
It didn't work and i got the next error above my report:
    report error:
    ORA-01481: invalid number format model
I also tried to define an application item with the value: 999G999G999G999G990D00
but then I get the same error. If I paste my number format in my report column under Number / Date Format then it works perfect. But I can't change the global format of my numbers now.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Oli

    <p>Oli,</p>
<p>As you already discovered there is no PICK_NUMBER_FORMAT_MASK substitution variable like there is for date pickers. Perhaps this a nice enhancement request. However, there are some workarounds:
    <ul><li>
<p>For reports, you can use your PICK_NUMBER_FORMAT_MASK if you convert the NUMBER columns into VARCHAR2 columns like this:<BR>
    <p>to_char(number_column,'& PICK_NUMBER_FORMAT_MASK.')</p></li>
<li><p>Use ApexLib and extend the firefox plugin with your own numeric settings.</p></li>
<li><p>You can use the user interface defaults (table defaults, column defaults) in the shared components section of your application.</p></li>
    </ul>
    <p>With kind regards,</p>

  • Number format issue

I just set up my computer to use the Argentine region to display dates, numbers, times, meassures, etc. The problem is that MS-Excel continues to display the comma to separate thousands instead of periods (i.e: 1,056 instead of 1.056) and this is causing me troubles with calculations. Isn't Mac OS X supposed to handle the number format across the system? or does Exel has a mind of its own when it comes to formatting numbers?
    Thanks

Microsoft always has marched to the beat of their own drummer but I found this in the Excel help that seems to indicate they are at least trying to do things right. Check the Notes section at the end.

    • Format values in euro currency style
Use this procedure to apply a euro currency style to the selected cells. If the cells you want to format contain non-euro values, you instead need to convert the values to euros by using the EUROCONVERT function.
To use the EUROCONVERT function, you must select the Euro Currency Tool check box on the Add-ins dialog box (Tools menu, Add-ins command). If you do not see Euro Currency Tool listed in the Add-ins dialog box, then you must install the Excel Add-ins component, and then quit and restart Excel. For step 5 (Installation) of the Setup Assistant, expand Office Tools by clicking the arrow next to it, and then select the Excel Add-ins check box.
    1. To display the Formatting toolbar, click View, point to Toolbars, and then click Formatting.
    2. If you don't see the Euro Style button on the Formatting toolbar, click Preferences on the Excel menu, click Edit, and then select the Show Euro tool check box.
    3. Select the cells that you want to format as euro currency style.
    4. Click the Euro Style button.
    Notes
    • If you want to type the euro sign () in a cell, you can do so on a U.S. keyboard by pressing SHIFTOPTION2.
    • The settings on the Formats or Numbers tab on the International pane (System Preferences) determine the position of the euro sign (that is, whether the symbol appears before or after the number and whether a space separates the symbol and the number), as well as the decimal symbol and the thousands separator.

  • 10 digit phone number format

Does anyone know of a way to change the default BB 10-digit phone number format of NNNNNNNNNN to include either spaces or parentheses?  i.e. (NNN) NNN-NNNN or NNN NNN NNNN.

Hi and welcome to the forums.
If you setup your contact in the (722-344-66770 you can certainly do it. The field is numeric..
You can view the contact and it will be that format, but when you dial, it will just be numbers, The telco has no need of the dashes and parenthesis so the BB doesn't waste space displaying and sending them.
The dashes and () in this case mean nothing to the telco. There are symbols that do, but if you stay with these your safe.

  • Other country address/ phone number formats??

Does anyone know if you can enter individual telephone numbers into a contact's card in the telephone number format of that country? For instance when I want to add a French friend's address and phone number it reverts to US standards, ie: (**)-***-***, when I really need to put the phone number in their French format, like: ** ** ** ** **.
The same applies to that person's street/town address too, it has to be in the USA format not their French way of listing addresses.
I cannot find a way of not applying the country specific "global" address and phone number formatting to individuals who do not have a US address......Am I missing something here? This has been annoying me for some while, while most of my contacts are USA based I'd really like to be able to list other friends and contacts who live elsewhere in a proper regional way...... So I thought I'd reach out to others to see if there's a solution here....thanks!

    Hello Peter,
Under preferences inside the address book, there is a phone preference to edit or creative formats for displaying phone numbers in your address book.
    "Automatically format phone numbers"
When this option is selected, Address Book formats phone numbers for you when you enter them. To create a new format, click the Add button and type a format in the Format field.
    Thanks,
Hope this work out for you!

  • Problem with the number format in the graph axis with Report Generation Toolkit.

    Hi!
I'm trying to use the Report Generation Toolkit to plot some graphs in Excel.
My first problem is that I don't know how to configure the number format in the Excel Set Graph Font.vi so that my numbers are correctly displayed in the graph's axis. The only given option is general (0,0) but this is not enough for me, my numbers can get really small so I need engineering notation or fraccional format.
Second: I also insert a table with the graph source data, but the numbers are not correctly displayed either: for example:
    0,75 is shown as:
    0,750000
    but 1,25  is shown as:
    1!250!000
My guess is I am making to much or wrong string to number conversions or Excel is getting it wrong but I can't find my way...
Can someone help me with this?
    Thanks,
    Isabel

Here is my VI, it's just a trial so it can look messy...
    Thanks,
    Isabel

  • Number formatting issue in Web intelligence report

    Folks ,
I've an object called ' Serial number' (12 digits long) but when I set this in query filter as a prompt number format gets changed.
    Similar like this:
whereas I am expecting to see 123456789123 something like this.
I made sure that object data type is number while designing universe as well as also format the object ( using format object option) and set as ############. ( 12times #) to forced as 12 digits number.
When I drag this object in 'result objects' results shows fine but if i add this as 'Query Filters' number gets changed as above pic.
    Any advise ?
    Cheers,
    iTanzir

  • Number format issue in XML Publisher from OAF (',.' is replaced by 'u n')

    Hi All,
I am facing a problem in XML Publisher report. In report I need to display some number fields with 'USD' format. In RTF, data type 'Number' and format '###,##0.00' is selected. If I run concurrent program from oracle core forms using System Administrator > Concurrent > Request, I am able to get correct number format.
    Ex : 123456.00 After Number format : 123,456.00
Also its working fine from XML Publisher Administrator responsibility (using Preview).
But problem is when I submit the concurrent request through OAF, I am not getting correct data. ',' is replace by 'u' and '.' is replace by 'n'.
    Ex: 123456.00 In Report 123u456n00
Checked profile value : ICX: Numeric Character and its set to 1,000.00 at site level.
Do I need to set character set anywhere in OAF before calling concurrent program?
I tried to use "alter session set nls_numeric_character = ',.';" by calling stored procedure from OAF. But still its not working.
Please give me solution for this.
    Regards,
    Sadanand

Hell - I am running into the same issue? Did you guys find a resolution for this? Please let me know, would really appreciate your help.

  • How to change number format to international setting

    Hello everyone,
I need some help on how to change the number format on my phone from the standard US format to an international format with no spacing between the numbers. Currently, my numbers appear as: 0706 343 3456. However, I will like for it to appear as 07063433456. When i recieve calls, the number format is not recognised and I cannot tell who is calling. Same goes for SMS messages. In this part of the world, the number format is not spaced, which is quite frustriating.
Can anyone please advice me on how to go about this.
    Thanks

Really? I tried that but it did not work. I restarted the iphone several times but the number format did not change.

  • How to change number format in web reports

    Hi, Experts,
Simple question, if I want to change the number format on web report as following
    . . . . . . . . Actual
    . . . . . . . . *1000SGD
      new order   .   341.5
      sales       .   567.45
if I click "Actual" then select properties, set data format from "in 1000" & "0" to "in 1" & "0.00", nothing changed in web report after refresh.
if i click one number (for example: 341.5) or "New order" to set data format from "in 1000" & "0" to "in 1" & "0.00", only this row's format is changed, others row still keep old format.
how to change whole column's data format at once setting?
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Logout and login may help you and also Delete the session in SM04  before re login. Some times system will not do complete refresh of data even though you select refresh button.
