Object name stored in Database table

Hi all,
Lets say I have a Database table that contains the name of the window
objects that I want to create and display at run-time, how do I go about
creating that object from the table field wich is a string ?
Example :
MenuTable { ItemNo, IsFolder, ParentFolder, PromptMsgNo, ..., WindowName,
StartMethod }
Then I use this table to fill in a TreeView or OutlineView using a
Subclassed DisplayNode that contains
the WindowName and WindowMethod fields.
When the user selects a node I want to instantiate an object of the type
indicated in WindowName and
do a start task of the method indicated by WindowMethod for WindowName.
How could I code the following lines ? :
theWindow : "--> Content of CurrentNode.WindowName" = new;
start task theWindow."--> Content of CurrentNode.WindowMethod";
Goal :
Be able to customize the menu system without customizing code for each
client.
Any idea on alternative methodes to reach the the goal would also be
appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Christian,
When the user selects a node I want to instantiate an object of the type
indicated in WindowName and
do a start task of the method indicated by WindowMethod for WindowName.
How could I code the following lines ? :
theWindow : "--> Content of CurrentNode.WindowName" = new;
start task theWindow."--> Content of CurrentNode.WindowMethod";---<<<---
cl : integer = 0;
aLib : Library = task.part.findLibrary(projectName = 'MeineTestKlassen',
distributionID = 'test',
compatibilityLevel = cl,
libraryName = 'meinetes');
aType : ClassType;
myObject : Object;
// myObject : meinNeuesObjektClassTypeName;
aType = aLib.FindClass(className = meinNeuesObjektClassTypeName);
myObject = aType.InstanceAlloc();
myObject = (object)(meinNeuerStream.ReadSerialized());
--->>>---
This code is part of a method that stores objects persistent into a Database
and then restores and instantiates them.
You'll have to put the Name of the Class your Object should be of in the
"meinNeuesObjektClassTypeName" Attribute. Then, aType.InstanceAlloc()
instantitates an Object of the given Class.
Please note that, due to the diefferences between the declared and the
runtime class type (Object vs. whatever class your object is of) you'll have
to cast your Object to the correct class. (I used to create a virtual
Superclass for this, which contains the method(s) to be called and the
needed Attributes and then cast all created objects to that superclass).
(You might also use a Template for this and implement that in all classes
that need it -- but I didn't try it yet, so I don't know if it really
works).
Hope that helps...

  • Tool to create Java Object classes using the Database Tables

    Hi,
    Is their any tools or utility available to create the Java Object Classes using the Database Tables as input.
    Lets Say I am having the Employee, Employee_Salary tables in the Database.The utility has to create the Java Object classes with the relation.
    Please Help...
    Thx..

    Hm, for generating regular Java classes I wouldn't know one from memory. But I suggest you start searching in for example the Eclipse marketspace for a third party plugin that can do it. If all fail, you could always use Hibernate Tools from the Jboss Tools Eclipse plugin set to generate Hibernate/JPA entities and then strip the annotations from them to turn them into regular POJO classes.
    How many tables are we talking about anyway? It might be less effort to just create the classes with properties and then use an IDE to generate getters and setters for them.

    Hi,
    After displaying ALV report output, if you want to update database table based on your selected record, then use the below logic in your User_command subroutine.
    You will get the index of the selected record in rs_selfield-tabindex. using this index read the respective record from the internal table and move corresponding field to the table fields and then update.
    data : wa_data like t_data.
    read table t_data index rs_selfield-tabindex into wa_data.
    if sy-subrc = 0.
       move-corresponding wa_data to ztable.
       insert ztable.
    endif.

  • How do i upload an image to a server and put the name into a database table

    Ok, i found a php image upload script that im using for a cms

    Hi Jeff:
    Though this does not show you how to solve this issue via a
    code
    snippett, there are a couple of extensions at WebAssist.com
    that enable
    you to do this, they are Data Assist and Digital File Pro.
    When you have
    time, take a look at these Solution Recipes (tutorials) that
    show how
    DataAssist is used and then now Digital File Pro is used in
    conjunction
    with DataAssist:
    http://www.webassist.com/professional/products/solutionrecipe/Media_139.asp
    http://www.webassist.com/professional/products/solutionrecipe/Media_112.asp
    DataAssist can be used to save time when you need to build
    database
    search and management applications quickly, and Digital File
    Pro can be
    used to include file upload functionality to your form fields
    while
    enabling you to insert your server file name into the
    database, all on
    the same page.

    Please post a concise and complete example. Include table DDL and sample data INSERT statements.
    Cause the solution depends on your actual structure. Otherwise take a look at the
    nodes() method.
    E.g.
    DECLARE @Sample TABLE
    ID INT IDENTITY ,
    Data XML
    INSERT INTO @Sample

  • How to convert a name stored in database as 'ABC DEF GHI' to 'Abc Def Ghi'?

    Hi
    In a column of a table a name is stored as 'ABC DEF GHI'.
    Now I want to convert it as 'Abc Def Ghi'.
    It's not necessary that all the name have two space . It may be one or n number of spaces in a string.
    Could you please tell me how can I do that?
    regards
    Edited by: user576726 on Mar 23, 2010 11:26 PM

    For this type of conversion in oracle called INITIAL CAPITAL function name (INITCAP).
    And if you want to update in database use the below statement.
    UPDATE TABLE_NAME
    SET COLUMN_NAME = INITCAP(COLUMN_NAME)
    WHRE UR_CONDITION;

  • Capture href onclick and log the file name to the database table

    I need somehelp with JSP, JavaScript and Java. When a link to a .wav file is clicked, it need to play the file by calling playSound(); function of Windows Media Player, and then capture the name of the file and call a java function to send the information to mySQL database where it will be logged in the file name will be recorded in a table. I am having rough time for being able to call the java function from the jsp function. I am aware that the jsp variable, in this case the file name that was clicked, can not be called in Java but I do not know any other way to do it.
    Please Help....
    I have made a few changes to the code now. Here is my latest code. I still need some help with onClick event. It does not work as intended.
              <a href="WaMu_Recording/<%out.println(strFileName);%>
                   onclick="<%
                             mymes.logFilePlayed(strUser, strPassword2, strFileName);
                        %>;
                             playsound('<%out.print(strFileName);%>');">
                        <%
                             out.print(strFileName);
                        %>
              </a>
    The program appears to be executing the first part of the onClick, mymes.logfilePlayed(strUser, strPassword2, strFileName) as soon as the page is loaded because I can see the all of the records added to the database even before any of the href is clicked.
    onclick should execute calling of the functions logFilePlayed and playsound when the click event occurs.
    Edited by: uncleshah on May 21, 2008 5:26 AM

    Here is how it was solved:
    1) A hidden text box was created for each of the href using the following html script:
         <input type='hidden' name='<%out.print(fileViewed);%>' style="display:" value="" id='<%out.print(intNumber);%>' />
    the name was like an array. So the fields were named: fileViewed1, fileView2, fileView3.... and so on.
    2) Here is the onClick event for the href field:
    onclick="playFile(
              '<%out.print(intNumber);%>',
              '<%out.print(strFileName);%>',
              '<%out.print(fileViewed);%>'
    3) Here is the playFile function:
    <SCRIPT language="JavaScript">
         function playFile(fileNumber, strFileName, fileViewed)
              var desc =document.DisplayFiles.elements[fileViewed];
              desc.value = strFileName;
              playsound('strFileName');
    </SCRIPT>
    Note that fileNumber param is not used.
    4) Upon submit of this form. A new page was opened and here is the code for the new form.
    boolean moreFiles = true;
    String fileName;
    String somethingBack = "";
    myMessage mm = new myMessage();
    int i = 1;
    String strPara ="fileViewed" + i;
    while(moreFiles)
         fileName = request.getParameter(strPara);
         if (fileName != null) {
              if (!(fileName).equals(""))
    // this function on the server side create a record for each file played.
                   somethingBack = mm.logFilePlayed(userSess, password, fileName);
                   ++i;
                   strPara = "fileViewed" + i;
         } else {
              moreFiles = false;
              mm = null;
         } //if else
    } //while
    This is about 10 days of work in a very short note. I hope that someone will benefit from this work.

    4 343 Tbl_Template3
    I want to build the query to retrieve all the Template table records based on the TblmasterTable data for a given id.

    This is possible but you need to understand the performance implications of Dynamic SQL before proceeding with this approach.
    <br>
    use this logic:<br>
    declare sqlstring varchar2(500):=null <br>
    select 'select stuff from '|| tbl_templatenameid into sqlstring from MasterTable where id=someid;<br>
    execute immediate sqlstring;
    <br>
    <br>
    I have really seen very few cases where this approach is justified.

  • Finding same column name from multiple database tables

    I am needing to find all tables in a database that contain the same column. ie: which tables in database A have col_a in it.
    Is it possible to do a sql code to qry all of this?
    Thanks

    No, Ignacio did not, at least, not really. ;)
    The usage of ALL_TAB_COLUMNS only has info for tables which the actual user has access to.
    If you need to be sure that you search each and every table, you have to use DBA_TAB_COLUMNS (or the connected user must be a super hero...).
    Just wanted to point that out.

  • Mapping column names stored in a table to one data table dynamically

    Hi everyone,
    Can someone help me - I am trying to import different file types (CSV, TXT, XLS) into a common table.
    The column mapping for the input files is mapped in a look up table - so file 1.txt can have columns order as 12345 while file 2.csv can have columns order 54321.
    How would I dynamically set up the correct mapping depending on which file I am busy with in my foreach loop. (an example would be much appreciated - I am relatively new to SSIS and have a deadline coming up)
    Thanks,

    Pretty sure not possible with available transformations...
    You can try script tasks/component and standardize the input file one by one by using a bunch of loops/if-else codes and collect your data into one table.
    Otherwise, you would need to create different connections/DF for each types of files.

  • Using field names stored in the database in a query

    Hi,
    I'm working on a database that has field names stored in tables. In order to construct a query using the field names stored in the table, normally I'd use dynamic SQL.
    For example in table1 I have
    Field_Name Value
    Field1
    'Name'
    Field 2
           'Address'
    I want to build a select statement  "SELECT Name, Address, FROM tblCustTable" - if possible not using dynamic SQL.
    Is there a neat way to do this?
    Thanks very much.
    Sad old developer

    No, it is not possible to dynamically include ANY object names (Columns, Tables, Functions, Procedures, etc) in SQL without using Dynamic SQL.
    The closest you can get, if you are choosing from a known set of names, is to use CASE statements:
    SELECT CASE
    WHEN t1.Field1='Name' THEN ct.[Name]
    WHEN t1.Field1='Address' THEN ct.[Address]
    END AS Field1
    FROM tblCustTable ct
    CROSSJOIN table1 t1
    WHERE ...
    However there are several disadvantages to this approach, and the SQL will quickly get very convoluted and difficult to maintain.   Dynamic SQL is much cleaner.
