Object performance,need detail of Oracle's internal performance testing

hi Geoff,
from your previous answer:
From an Oracle's comprehensive internal performance testing,
object implementation of an application consistently matches
those of relational implementation.
For some operations, using objects performed better. can you tell more about the result of the testing ?
we need to get the comparison between the two implementation,
in order to know in which case should use object implementation
and in which case should not.
thanks
Ray

Ray,
Before I name some cases that objects perform better, I still
want to emphasize that your application object model comes
first. Here are the cases:
1. If you have nested objects (e.g., customer with address
attribute), querying the nested objects would work faster than
relational access.
2. If you have containment objects (e.g., customer with VARRAY
of phone numbers), querying these contained objects would also
work faster than relational.
What is your application? What does your object model look like?
The more specific your question is, the better I can answer it.
Regards,
Geoff

  • View objects performance issue with oracle seeded tables

    While i am writing a view object on a oracle seeded tables like MTL_PARAMETERS, its taking more time to show in the oaf page.I am trying to display all these view object columns in detail disclosure of advanced table. My Application is taking more than two minutes to display the view columns of the query which is returning just 200 rows. Please help me how to improve performance when my query using seeded tables.
    This issue is happening only in R12 view object and advanced tables.

    Hi All,
    Here is architecture of my application:
    Java application creates XML from the screen values and then inserts that XML
    into a framework(separate DB schema) table . then Java calls a Stored Procedure from same framework DB and in SP we have following steps.
    1. It fatches XML from the XML type table and inserts XML into screen specific XML TYPE table in the framework DB Schema. This table has a trigger which parses XML and then inserts XML values into GTT which are created in separate product schemas.
    2. it calls Product SP and then in product SP we have business logic. Product SP
    does the execution and then inserts response into Response GTT.
    3. Response XML is created by using XML generation function and response GTT.
    I hope u will understand my architeture this time and now let me know if GTT are good in this scenario or not. also please not that i need data in GTT only during execution and not after that. i dont want to do specific delete which i have to do if i am using normal tables.

  • Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key

    Hi OAF Gurus,
    Currently we are implementing R12 Upgrade , for this we have deployed all the custom OAF Application related files on to the the respective JAVA_TOP folder.
    We have a custom municipal postal application which tracks the Postal Details.
    The page runs perfectly fine without any error in 11i instance, but the same is erroring out In R12.
    In R12 it shows an error as Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[112010 2014-10-01]
    here 112010 is nothing but the postal code id and 2014-10-01 is the Effective Start Date
    We have a custom table as xxad_postal_codes_f  (Date Track table)which contains the postal_code_id and effective_start_date (primary key is combination of postal_code_id and effective_start_date ).
    The Table already contains a row for postal_code_id = 112010  and Effective_Start_date = Sysdate.
    Now we want to update the entry for the same postal code with the Id being same as 112010  and  Effective_Start_date as 2014-10-01 through custom PostCodeChangePG
    at the time of save we are getting an error as Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[112010 2014-10-01]
    The table doesn't contain any of the data mentioned ([112010 2014-10-01]) at the time of insertion, hence there should not be any duplication of primary key but still we are getting the error.
    Please let us know how can we handle this..?
    Below is the code which is getting called on Click of Save button of PostCodeChangePG
    if (pageContext.getParameter("Apply") != null)
          PCodeCoWorkerBase coWorker = getCoWorker(pageContext, webBean);
              coWorker.processApply();
    Code in PCodeCoWorkerBase
        public void processApply()
          String postalCodeId = UIHelper.getRequiredParameter(pageContext, "postalCodeId");
          Date startDate = UIHelper.getRequiredDateParameter(pageContext , "EffectiveStartDate");
         Serializable[] postalCodeData = (Serializable[]) applicationModule.invokeMethod( "insertPostalCodeMajorChange", params, paramTypes );
          finalizeTransactionAndRedirect( postalCodeData );
    Code in Application Module
      public Serializable[] insertPostalCodeMajorChange ( String postalCodeId, Date date )
        PCodeAmWorker amWorker = new PCodeAmWorker(this);
        return amWorker.insertMajorChange( postalCodeId, DateHelper.convertClientToServerDate( getOADBTransaction(), date )
    Code in PCodeAmWorker
      public Serializable[] insertMajorChange ( String postalCodeId, Date date )
        // Get the view objects we need from the application module
        OAViewObject viewObject = (OAViewObject) applicationModule.getPCodesVO();
        PCodesVORowImpl currentRow = (PCodesVORowImpl) viewObject.getCurrentRow();
        currentRow.validate();
        currentRow.setEffectiveStartDate(date);
        currentRow.setComment1(currentRow.getNewComment());
    // Create a new row based on the current row
    PCodesVORowImpl newRow = (PCodesVORowImpl) viewObject.createAndInitRow(currentRow); //This is failing out and gives the error
    // Get the new effective start date as entered by the user
    Date effectiveStartDate = currentRow.getEffectiveStartDate();
        // Calculate the previous period's effective end date
        Date previousEffectiveEndDate = DateHelper.addDays(effectiveStartDate, -1);
        // Refresh the current row (the one changed by the UI) with the data it had at the beginning of the transaction
        currentRow.refresh(Row.REFRESH_UNDO_CHANGES);
        // The current row will now represent data for the the previous period set the effective end date for the previous period
        currentRow.setEffectiveEndDate(previousEffectiveEndDate);
        // Insert the newly created row that now represents the new period
        viewObject.insertRow(newRow);
        applicationModule.apply();
        return generateResult(newRow);
    PCodesVO() is based on PostalCodeEO
    below is the code from PostalCodeEOImpl
      public void create(AttributeList attributeList)
        // NOTE: This call will set attribute values if the entity object  is created with a call to vo.createAndInitRow(..)
        super.create(attributeList);
        if (getPostalCodeId() == null)
          setPostalCodeId(getOADBTransaction().getSequenceValue("XXAD_POSTAL_CODES_S"));
        if (getEffectiveStartDate() == null)
          setEffectiveStartDate(getOADBTransaction().getCurrentDBDate());
    After diagnosing the issue we found that the error is on the code of AMworker file while creating a new row PCodesVORowImpl newRow = (PCodesVORowImpl) viewObject.createAndInitRow(currentRow);
    we tried so many things such as clearing entity cache, VO cache, validating for duplicate primary key but still not able to resolved this.
    Please advice how to insert a new row on the PCodesVORowImpl without any exception.
    Thanks,
    Pallavi

    Hi ,
    One question here , if you are udating a existing record then why you are trying to create a new row
    PCodesVORowImpl newRow = (PCodesVORowImpl) viewObject.createAndInitRow(currentRow);
    Thanks

    Thats not the problem. However, what is the condition you have. Typically, you should be having the condition C1 AND C2 and not C1 OR C2.
    Also, provide more details like how you have implemented QB. Does your iterator hasNext returns row..?

  • Jdbc thin driver to connect oracle as internal

    I need to connect to Oracle as Internal using jdbc driver, is there a way we can do this using jdbc thin driver. Actually I don't want to pass username and password as it will be harcoded in a properties file.

    Have a look at this code example that shows how to Connect to Database as internal ( as sysdba ). In this code sample the properties are hard-coded, you can supply these Properties by loading them from a properties file.

  • Need info regarding Oracle UCM Accounts and Security Groups behaviour

    Need information regarding Oracle UCM Accounts and Security Groups behaviour.
    Oracle UCM version: 11.1.1.5.0
    Steps:
    1. Log in with "weblogic" user and created a content with id "content1"
    2. Applied "@acc1(R)" and "TestGroup1" to the cotent created in step 1
    3. Log out
    4. Log in as "acc1user1", the user is not able to see the "content1"
    5. Log out
    6. Log in as "role1user1", the user is not able to see the "content1"
    Account and Group information:
    1. User "acc1user1" is part of "@acc1(R)"
    2. User "role1user1" is part of "role1(R)" and is mapped to "TestGroup1" in UCM
    Expected:
    Both "acc1user1" and "role1user1" should be able to see "content1" as they have at least Read permission.
    Please help me understand why the users are not able to see the content.

    ACLs, like Accounts, are optional security setting which may add on some extra functionality to mandatory security groups. Likewise, the resulting permission is taken as an intersection of SG and ACLs.
    But in the second part the number of set of users is huge (approx say 600)I don't get this completely. Does this mean that those "sets of users" (users who see the same data) are distinct and that there is 600 of such groups?
    If you read thoroughly the manual I sent earlier, there is a recommendation that there should be maximum 50 security groups, and you should use accounts, should this number be exceeded. This means you could have all the documents in one security group (and have one common role with Read permission), but combine it with accounts. ACLs are not a good choice here - their performance and manageability is much worse than of accounts. ACLs are primarily used if you expect security settings to change during the lifetime (e.g. a project manager adds temporarily rights to access an item to another user, and revokes it when the user finishes his or her work).
    Note that accounts as well as permissions of users within accounts can also be mapped externally (from LDAP/AD) and it usually follows some kind of org chart.
    I'd feel more comfortable not to speak about users, security groups, roles, etc., but about some real-life objects and scenarios.

  • JBO-25013: Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[33 ]!!!

    Hi all, I have a huge problem...
    I have two tables in a parent - child relationship. Each has it's own entity and view object with appropriate associations and links. The parent table has an insert trigger which inserts default rows into the child table when a new parent row is created.
    Even in the application module tester (not to mention the equivalent .jspx)
    this error goes off :
    oracle.jbo.TooManyObjectsException: JBO-25013: Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[35 ].
    Sometimes, I couldn't figure out what makes the difference, the tester inserts the detail records just fine when inserting the master, but never from the page!!!
    How do I get around this problem?? I'm clueless.
    Any suggestions welcome. I'm desperate at this stage!
    A lots'a work will be lost (packages and triggers on the server...:((( if there's no solution.
    Thanx for yr help in advance, Ildiko

    looks like Database trigger causes "TooManyObjectsException JBO-25013" in view object

  • Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[2]. Error

    Hi
    I have to display a Read Only table and an Editable Form below it so that the user can select a row in the table and that row should be populated in the form below.
    The user should be able to update the row and save in the below form.
    Then the table above also should be refreshed with the updated values.
    For this I have created a VO based on EO.
    Using the same data control I have created a UI Readonly table and an Editable form in the same JSF page.
    When I run the page, the first row is populated in both the table and form.
    When I select the second row in the table, I am getting the following error in the Editable Form
    Error: Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[2 ].
    My EO has only one Primary key and I have not included the ROWID column in EO or VO.
    How can we fix this issue ?
    However, if I move the editable form to another page, It is working fine.
    But we need to have both the table and editable form in the same page for usability purposes.
    Thanks for any help.
    Sameer

    you can try refreshing your VO in various ways:
    1. try setting partialTrigger on table pointing to your commandbutton .. also make sure partialSubmit on your commandButton is set to true.
    2. Do bindings on the page def for Execute action of your read-only VO. Call this method from actions of your commandButton.
    If they dont work then you can try creating a method in your AMImpl which does calls vo.executeQuery and expose this to pageDef.. and call if from the actions of your button .. but this may not be best way

    Already I have gone through other thread related to this issue but I didn't get exact solution.
    How to solve this issue?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sagarika

    Hi Sumit,
    I run the following query in SQL worksheet and its retrieving three rows,
    select * from (SELECT LpgConnEO.CITIZEN_ID,
    LpgConnEO.LPG_CONNECTION_NUMBER,
    LpgConnEO.LPG_CONNECTION_AGENCY
    FROM LPG_CONNECTION_AGENCY LpgConnEO)
    QSRLT where (CITIZEN_ID=(SELECT JGZZ_FISCAL_CODE FROM HZ_PERSON_PROFILES per
    WHERE per.EFFECTIVE_END_DATE IS NULL AND per.PARTY_ID=65632))
    Result,
    CITIZEN_ID LPG_CONNECTION_NUMBER LPG_CONNECTION_AGENCY
    101016210900001     मन्दाकनी गैस ऐजेन्सी     2789674
    101016210900001     27896     मन्दाकनी गैस ऐजेन्सी
    101016210900001     036227     मन्दाकनी गैस ऐजे
    and the primary key marked Attributes in the EO are in sync with the ones in the actual DB table.
    I am getting above exception when the query is retrieving more than one row and its working fine if the query retrieve one row.
    In this case how can we resolve the issue if the primary key attribute retrieve more than one row?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sagarika

  • Regarding Certification Details in Oracle Portal

    Hi All,
    I did OCA and OCP certification two years back. I have used weblink to see the history of my certification details with score card in oracle portal. Now i m hutting for the same link to see my certification details in the portal.
    If anybody know how to see our certified details in oracle portal please forward me the same and its quite urgent.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Prabu

    Hi Prabu,
    There is currently not a way to view your certification history online. We are working on a system that will allow this, but the system is still several months out. If you need to verify your certification details for a 3rd party (or for yourself), you can send an email to [email protected] and request verification of your certification(s). If you need to verify for a 3rd party, simply copy the 3rd party on the request and ask that the verification team reply to all in their response. Your 3rd party will receive the information required.

  • Data truncation with oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.OraclePlatform

    Hello everyone
    I use Toplink 10g(9.0.4.5) with Oracle Lite database. I use the oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.OraclePlatform and everything seems to be fine, except that when I pass a String more than the length defined in the Database, data is getting truncated to the maximum possible length in the Database and no exception is thrown. If I run a SQL statement directly on the Oracle Lite database using msql "value too large for column" exception is thrown.
    The question is it the default behviour of oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.OraclePlatform to truncate the data for the large Strings? How can i change this behaviour to throw an exception?
    Any information on this would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance..

    Thanks for the reply.
    But my tests are pointing towards ToplinkPlatform only. I use the oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver with Oracle Database Lite, and when I do a simple test to insert a large String wiht plaing JDBC and POLJDBCDriver, i receive the following error.
    [POL-2403] value too large for column
    However if i did the same using Toplink and oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.OraclePlatform, the SQL statement generated by Toplink does not throw any errors. When i query the database, i see that the data is truncated. I use the same oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver with Toplink.
    <session>
    <name>testLite</name>
    <project-class>com.entityobjects.mappings.testLite</project-class>
    <session-type>
    <server-session/>
    </session-type>
    <login>
    <driver-class>oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver</driver-class>
    <connection-url>jdbc:polite:POLITE;DataDirectory=C:\;Database=testLite;</connection-url>
    <platform-class>oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.OraclePlatform</platform-class>
    <user-name>test1</user-name>
    <password>test1</password>
    <should-bind-all-parameters>true</should-bind-all-parameters></login>
    <enable-logging>true</enable-logging>
    <logging-options/>
    </session>
    I do not want to add a check at the object setter level, as the same object model is used in different projects and published across.
    Any more ideas why data is getting truncated?
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions..

  • Oracle/toplink/internal/helper/ConcurrencyManager.acquire "Hang"

    Hi,
    I am trying to test an application on WAS with some load (200 virtual users from a load-runner) experiencing a hand condition. There are 128 threads waiting with the below stack trace.
    at java/lang/Object.wait(Native Method)
    at java/lang/Object.wait(Object.java:199(Compiled Code))
    at oracle/toplink/internal/helper/ConcurrencyManager.acquire(ConcurrencyManager.java:47(Compiled Code))
    at oracle/toplink/internal/sequencing/SequencingManager.acquireLock(SequencingManager.java:487(Compiled Code))
    at oracle/toplink/internal/sequencing/SequencingManager$ForcedToUseWriteAccessor_State.getNextValue(SequencingManager.java:678(Compiled Code))
    at oracle/toplink/internal/sequencing/SequencingManager.getNextValue(SequencingManager.java:325(Compiled Code))

    at oracle/toplink/internal/descriptors/ObjectBuilder.assignSequenceNumber(ObjectBuilder.java:127(Compiled Code))
    at oracle/toplink/publicinterface/UnitOfWork.assignSequenceNumber(UnitOfWork.java:297(Compiled Code))
    I am using the following oracle version:
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
    Windows Server 2003 Version V5.2 Service Pack 1
    CPU : 4 - type 586, 2 Physical Cores
    Process Affinity : 0x00000000
    Memory (Avail/Total): Ph:1831M/3583M, Ph+PgF:3736M/5475M, VA:495M/2047M
    The server slowly slips into a hang state and later becomes unresponsive.
    I request you guys to provide an insight into the problem area here?
    Thanks
    Phani

    Is the stack the same? There must be at least one thread that has the lock and is waiting on another resource to have a deadlock, could you include its stack.
    What type of sequencing are you using, table or native (sequence object)?
    Are you using JTA, and have you set a non-JTA read connection pool?
    If you are using table sequencing and JTA, what could be occuring is a database deadlock on the sequence table. Some solution would be:
    - Use native sequencing (sequence objects).
    - Specify a sequence connection pool on your TopLink ServerSession using a non-JTA datasource or TopLink direct-JDBC connection pool.
    You may also want to try using the TopLink 11g preview, it may not encounter the issue.

  • Oracle.toplink.internal.helper.NonSynchronizedVector exception

    I get following exception when invoking session bean from EJB client generated by JDev (EJB JPA project). Session bean returns the list of value objects created using TopLink Essentials based JPA native query. Does anybody know what is causing this exception and if there is a workaround?
    java.lang.ClassCastException: oracle.toplink.internal.helper.NonSynchronizedVector
    List<ProfileBasicVO> profiles = searchFacade.queryBasicProfilesByLastName( partialName );
    I get exception at this point:
    for( ProfileBasicVO profile: profiles ) {
    System.out.println( "lastName = " + profile.getLastName() );
    ...

    I changed the code to return List and I added mapping as a second parameter:
    public List queryBasicProfilesByLastName(String partialName) {
    Query basicProfileQuery =em.createNativeQuery( "findBasicProfilesByLastName", "BasicProfileResults" );
    return basicProfileQuery.getResultList();
    It fails with following exception:
    Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: SQL string is not QueryError Code: 17128
    and the query is defined as
    <query>
    select o.last_name as LAST_NAME,
    o.first_name as FIRST_NAME,
    o.middle_name as MIDDLE_NAME,
    o.birth_date as BIRTH_DATE,
    o.sex_code as SEX_CODE,
    a.height_cm as HEIGHT_CM,
    a.weight_kg as WEIGHT_KG,
    o.PERSON_ID as PERSON_ID
    from offenders o,
    person_bookings b,
    person_physical_attributes a
    where o.PERSON_ID = b.PERSON_ID
    and b.PERSON_BOOK_ID = a.PERSON_BOOK_ID
    and o.last_name = 'POTTER'
    </query>
    Mapping is defined as:
    <sql-result-set-mapping name="BasicProfileResults">
    <entity-result entity-class="entities.Persons">
    <field-result column="LAST_NAME" name="lastName"/>
    <field-result column="FIRST_NAME" name="firstName"/>
    <field-result column="MIDDLE_NAME" name="middleName"/>
    <field-result column="BIRTH_DATE" name="birthDate"/>
    <field-result column="SEX_CODE" name="sexCode"/>
    <field-result column="PERSON_ID" name="personId"/>
    </entity-result>
    <entity-result entity-class="entities.PersonPhysicalAttributes">
    <field-result column="HEIGHT_CM" name="heightCm"/>
    <field-result column="WEIGHT_KG" name="weightKg"/>
    </entity-result>
    </sql-result-set-mapping>
    I can execute the query manually without problem, i.e. it is valid query, but I still get exception
