Oracle Spatial Object types in Designer 6

Hi all,
I'm trying to design a database that uses the new Oracle Spatial Object types (MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY) etc. I have been able to capture the object types from Oracle8i but when i try to save the design in the repository it fails. I am assuming that the version of Oracle Designer I am using does not support MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY. Is this correct and if so what version of Designer should I be using?

I'm sorry I don't have any help for you but maybe yo can answer a question for me relating to sdo_geometry. I'm trying to capture a database schema which contains tables with sdo_geometry columns & this fails because I don't have that object defined.
So how do I access the Oracle Object Types branch to define MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY? Is it in the object navigator or designer?

Read only access for objects in application designer

I want to apply read only access to all the objects in application designer. I would like to know how we can do this.

On 8.48 :
1. Create a PERMISSION LIST
1.1 leave empty the navigator homepage
1.2 leave unchecked Can Start Application Server? and Allow Password to be Emailed?
1.3 On Pages tab, leave it empty
1.4 On PeopleTools tab, check Application Designer Access, then click on Definition Permissions, Tools Permissions Miscellaneous and Permissions, and put there the rights as well as you want. You can put Read Only on all component in one shot by clicking on the button, or one by one by choosing in the listbox for each type of components.
1.5 leave all other tab blank
2. Create a ROLE, and add the permission list created on step 1.
3. Create the user, and give the role created on step 2.
4. Open Application Designer, connect there with the new user, and enjoy on read-only access.

Select the activity and then select the Data Associations button. You can associate existing data objects and create new ones.

Where should I store objects in my design

Hello guys,
I have a system that needs to store various kinds of information such as users, publications, meetings etc. I have various objects describing that sort of information but I am having a hard time choosing where to store the objects inside the design.
Quick overview of the system: I have a SystemAdmin who registers users. I have a RegisteredUser who makes publications and meetings. I have Publications and Meetings.
Where should I store the objects created by all these classes? Where should I store the "RegisteredUser" or the "Publication"? Should I use a "super" class with a bunch of collection objects or is it a bad design?
I would like to avoid using a DBMS, but if you think it would get messy otherwise, I can give it a go. Thanks

If you want to do this right, you should definitely be starting your design using a DBMS. Once that's done, you can look at EJB 3 or Spring as a persistance layer to your exterprise java app.
In today's world, it is smart to decouple your data, storage, and application layers. The buzz word being DECOUPLE

If Muse does not support responsive design, can someone tell me why I have seen 100% browser width

If muse does not support responsive design (and therefore cannot adapt to the differing sizes in browser width of different devices, so I understand it) , as I have read on these forums and been told by Adobe's support tech's via chat support, can someone please explain how the 100% browser width slideshows that I have seen on Adobe's featured Site of the Day sites, were acheived? Are these sites only able to display correctly on the same size screen? If I cannot create a site in muse that displays a constant design on a laptop, desktop, or tablet screen, then why should I use this program at all, and why isn't that dislcaimer right up front to save folks like me hundreds of dollars in cloud subscription fees and hours designing a site only to find out that it will look like crap on 2 of the three devices any one uses to view it???? I was sent here for this question by the support team at Adobe. Hopefully someone has a workaround, because Adobe apparently are nonplussed.

Business Objects support for international web standards

The NZ government has defined web standards ([Standards web-site|http://webstandards.govt.nz/index.php/Home_page]) for delivery of content over the web. I am working with a government organisation who wants to know how/if Business Objects supports international web standards and if so which and in what manner. This is really around BOE and WebIntelligence primarily. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Carl,
I just quickly took a look these standards you are refering to. They seem to be more in line for web site development - i.e content of nature like most internet web sites.
BOE is an BI applcation delivering BI content is a specilaised environment. I would say it would be difficult to place the default application and capability under the general banner of compliance. However, you would need to map the guidelines to BOE to sus out compliance, but I don't feel it really necessary as you are using an application delivered over the web, not building a website.
Nevertheless, should you prefer, BOE is fully supported by an SDK, so you could develop you own custom interface to meet all those nice compliance issues.

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object" when opening designer

I have a Windows Forms project which was originally developed in Visual Studio 2010. I migrated the project to VS2013, and now every time I open the project's main form, the designer complains of a null reference. If I hit "Ignore and Continue",
the code compiles just fine. The error in question appears in the "Windows Form Designer generated code" region. Even more curious, the line in question is not the first reference to the object. It's as if the first few times it needs to interact
with the object, it's fine, then at a certain point it becomes null.
Here is the call stack for the error:

I have made a research about your issue, and I found it might be caused by the usercontrol in the project. Was “this.optionsControl” a UserControl? It seems that this issue was difficult to handle.
If possible, I would recommend you recreate this control in a new project.

Your information is not correct. The Headstart group still exists and we have made a decision to develop an upgrade for Hs4apps. This upgrade will run against Oracle Designer 6i and Oracle Developer 6i. At this moment it is scheduled for late summer depending on the production date of Designer 6i. We are also planning to write a migration guide like we did for the normal Headstart. To get a feel what the migration is all about I suggest you scan through that manual that is downloadable from OTN. In short we will support the migration to Oracle Designer/Developer 6i but not Designer/Developer 6.0.

I have to convert a single INSTANCE of this class to XML and send it as a XML stream (or XML formated content in internal table) in return value of function module called through RFC.
As you can see - this class contains some variables and an internal table. For me, a best solution would be to provide this class instance as a parameter and get a XML formated data.
I have a SAP system and Web Application written in Java. Comunications between them is provided by RFC (JCo). SAP application and Web Application communicate by exchanging a XML documents. Since, SAP part is using Abap Objects - i have to convert object to/from XML.

Query hangs when getting apps schema objecs(Ebs R12) objects from BO Designer

We are facing an issue on Production instance that the query given by BO support hangs when getting the objects from apps schema by login from BO designer.
We are able to get the objects from Ebs 11i instance with the same query. Below is the instances details for Ebs 11i and R12.

DECODE SQL Function - Parsing error in Defining Objects in Universe Designe

I have created a class and an object in BO XI R3 Universe designer.
I am getting the parsing error while defining the object when using the custom SQL as
select decode(matteraction,null,decode(matterissue,null,'MATTER','ISSUE'),decode(matterissue,null,'TYPE IS ACTION',' ACTIONu2019)) as TYPE from wh_cf_cmsu
The object Type is "character", i have tried with Long Text, Number, Date as well and the same sql works fine by returning String values through TOAD.
Do we have any constrains in using DECODE in BO XI R3 or any other syntax please....
Please guide me in resolving this issue.

1.At back end check the data type for matteraction column and define it accordingly in object definition.
2. Try to break your select clause definition into smaller parts and check it where the exact issue is as below
i.select decode(matterissue,null,'TYPE IS ACTION',' ACTIONu2019) ............
