Obtain Param Array using SELECT SQL statement

Hi,
I was trying to use array processing to fetch an array of data from a database. Here is the problem I am facing (I am new to this, so I am sorry if I am doing something silly):
I am using the following statements in C++:
OParamArray idParam;
OParamArray colorParam;
OParameterCollection paramCol = odb.GetParameters();
idParam= paramCol.AddTable("idParam",OPARAMETER_OUTVAR,OTYPE_NUMBER,100,10);
colorParam= paramCol.AddTable("colorParam",OPARAMETER_OUTVAR,OTYPE_VARCHAR2,100,10);
oresult res1 = odb.ExecuteSQL("select :idParam=MYID, :colorParam=COLOR from MYTABLE"); // MYID and COLOR are the column names
But after the "ExecuteSQL" call when I check for the values in idParam and miColorParam, I find no values....
What am I doing wrong? How do I use the SELECT statement with Array Parameters?
Thanks in advance.

Thats the compiler error, but it still works on a normal java file. ill try a prepared statement in the mean time.

  • Can you use nested sql statements in jsp??

    HI, I was wondering if you can use nexted sql statements...
    example...
    <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html" %>
    <%@ page import="java.sql.*" %>
    <%@ page import="forum.DataAccess" %>
    <%
         // Create a new instance of the DataAccess Class
              DataAccess d = new DataAccess();
         // This call the database connection method from the DataAccess Class
              d.ConnectDatabase();
         /* This gets the threads from database for the categories */
              // This is initilzing the variables
                   String threadname = null;
                   int threadid = 0;
              // This sets the sql variable to nothing
                   String sql = "";
                   String sql1 = "";
              // This sets the rs variable to null
                   ResultSet rs = null;
                   ResultSet rs1 = null;
              // This is doing a SELECT on the thread table based on the category id
                   sql += "select * from forum_threads where ft_catid = 2";
                   rs = d.SQLQuery(sql);
         /* End of categories */
         while (rs.next()){
                                       threadid = rs.getInt("ft_threadid");
                                       threadname = rs.getString("ft_threadname");
         sql1 += "select * from forum_messages where fm_catid = 2 and fm_threadid = " + threadid + "";
         rs1 = d.SQLQuery(sql1);
    %>
    THis is the error I get.....
    javax.servlet.ServletException: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Connection is busy with results for another hstmt
    I know what that is.. it is because I am trying to open another result set before the first one is closed... but I need that one open cause I need to loop through the ids and run it against the second query??
    Any suggestions...

    I am not positive but it seems from your error message you will not be able to use the nested SQL. Another option would be to store the values of the ResultSet in a Vector (or Array), and then close your ResultSet and loop through the vector or array instead...

  • How can i use one SQL statement to solve problem?

    How can i use one SQL statement to solve the question below?
    For a Table named A, there is a column named F(char type).
    Now select all the records where F like '%00' and update their F value to '%01'
    Just one SQL statement.Do not use PL/SQL block.
    How to do that?
    Thanks.

    What is the data volume for this table?
    Do you expect lots of rows to have '%00' as their value?
    Following two statements come to mind. Other experts would be able to provide better alternatives:
    If you have index on SUBSTR(f, 2):
    UPDATE A
    SET    f = SUBSTR(f,
                      1,
                      length(f) - 2) || '01'
    WHERE  substr(f,
                  -2) = '00';If most of the rows have pattern '%00':
    UPDATE A
    SET    f = SUBSTR(f,
                      1,
                      length(f) - 2) ||
               DECODE(SUBSTR(f,
                             -2),
                      '00',
                      '01',
                      SUBSTR(f,
                             -2));

  • How to use Native SQL statement in JDBC receiver interface

    Dear All,
    Can any one please help us in using Native SQL statement in a JDBC receiver channel. The reason why I need to use Native SQL statement instead of standard XML structure is that I need to execute a dynamic SQL query in third party database system lke:-
    Select Field1 Field2 from TABLE Where Field3 like "%Name'
    I expect the the response in the form of XML file which I can pick up using synchornous interface as mentioned on help.sap.com:-

    The value for %Name can change dynamically according to the transaction and hence cannot be inluded as a KEY element in standard XLM structure,
    Hence I need to know:-
    1. What message mapping I should use in case if I have to use Native SQL statement.
    2.What operation mapping I should use in case if I have to use Native SQL statement.
    If guess correclty I may have to use Java mapping to do the above activities. Hence I want to know
    3 .How do to go about it to do the Java mapping.
    Thanks

    You can use a stored procedure, and call it from jdbc receiver adapter.
    I also solve this issue, with a DBLookup in message mapping. You can refer to my blog, and this usefull 3d:

  • Using SELECT INTO statement to transfer data from one DB to another?

    Hello,
    I need to move data from an SAP table to another downstream SQL server box without flat file in between. I have set up the DBCON interface, so that my ABAP code on SAP can connect to the remote SQL Server, then I can run INSERT command as Native SQL inside the ABAP.
    However, INSERT has performance problem. The best performer as I can find is SELECT INTO statement. But then I am stuck at how to use SELECT INTO to query my local SAP table and send (via INTO) to remote database. I am not even sure whether I should use Open SQL or Native SQL.
    Any suggestion? BTW, I understand the limitation of Native SQL, but we are OK to use it.
    Thanks!

    It appears that this is some kind of migration project due to the scope of the data contained in the single file? If so whatever you do is like ly to be trow away once the migration of data is completed.
    You have a couple of options:
    1) Get the data extracted from HFM in multiple files instead of one bulk file, broken down by scanario,year & period
    2) Take the single data dump file produced by FDM and manipulate it yourself to get the data in a more usuable format for processing through FDM.
    Option 2 could be achieved via any ETL tool or a custom file parsing script. What may be more attractive to you and allow you to fully leverage your investment in FDM is that you could use the PULL adapter that ships as part of the FDM adapter suite to perform this transformation exercise. The PULL adapter takes a flat file input and allows you to use all the in built functionality of FDM to transform it and output a modified flat file (or series of flat files). You could use it to produce multioload files or a series of files broken down by scenario,year,period.
    Whatever you do I would suggest that break the single data file down into smaller chunks as this will help with the iterative debugging process you will inevitably have to undetake whislt migrating the data to the new application.

  • Select SQL statement with variable syntax error

    Hi All,
    I am running a Web Application with a java bean to connect to a mysql database. i have compiled a test .java file whcih works using the same statement that has a problem in my web application. Taking the statement out of the Web App makes it work so it must be this stetment:
    String SQLStatement = "SELECT * FROM MASTER WHERE USERNAME LIKE '"+data+"' ";
    This works fine in testing a separate java file, but it does not compile when running ant build to compile the same line of code for my Web App.
    I have tried many possibilities of changing the syntax to no avail, its a puzzle!
    Many thanks for any swift reply.

    Thats the compiler error, but it still works on a normal java file. ill try a prepared statement in the mean time.

  • Who to use Native SQL statements in ABAP

    hi all,
    who to use native sql staements in abap bypassing Application server.
    with regards,
    suresh babu aluri.

    Hi
    Native SQL statements define an area in an ABAP program in which one or more Native SQL statements are to be carried out. The area between EXEC and ENDEXEC is not completely checked by the syntax check. The statements entered there are passed to the Native SQL interface and processed there as follows:
    Almost all SQL statements that are valid for the addressed database system can be included between EXEC and ENDEXEC, in particular the DDL statements. These SQL statements are passed from the Native SQL interface to the database system largely unchanged. The syntax rules are specified by the database system, in particular the case sensitivity rules for database objects. If the syntax allows a separator character between individual statements, you can include several Native SQL statements between EXEC and ENDEXEC. Generally, the semicolon ( is used as the separator character.
    You can also include SAP-specific Native SQL language elements between EXEC and ENDEXEC. These statements are not passed directly from the Native SQL interface to the database, but are converted appropriately.
    All Native SQL statements bypass SAP buffering.
    The ENDEXEC statement sets sy-dbcnt to the number of table rows processed in the last Native SQL statement. After implicit cursor processing with PERFORMING, sy-dbcnt contains the total number of lines read.
    Programs with Native SQL statements are generally dependent on the database system used, so that they cannot be executed in all ABAP systems. This is especially true for the examples in this section, which was written for Informix database systems.
    Example
    Inserting two rows in the database table SCARR. If neither of these rows exists, sy-subrc is set to 0 by ENDEXEC and sy-dbcnt to 1. Otherwise, an exception is raised and handled.
    DATA: exc_ref    TYPE REF TO cx_sy_native_sql_error,
          error_text TYPE string.
    TRY.
        EXEC SQL.
          INSERT INTO scarr
                      (MANDT, CARRID, CARRNAME, CURRCODE, URL)
            VALUES ('000', 'FF', 'Funny Flyers', 'EUR',
                    'http://www.ff.com');
          INSERT INTO scarr
                     (MANDT, CARRID, CARRNAME, CURRCODE, URL)
            VALUES ('000', 'EF', 'Easy Flyers', 'EUR',
                    'http://www.ef.com');
        ENDEXEC.
      CATCH cx_sy_native_sql_error INTO exc_ref.
        error_text = exc_ref->get_text( ).
        MESSAGE error_text TYPE 'I'.
    ENDTRY.

  • Dynamic select sql statement

    Hi currently i have a problem with the sql statement.
    The field name and the table name of the sql statement will depend on what the user input. We need to find out what records is in tableA columnA and not in tableB columnB.
    Below is my sql statement:
    SELECT * FROM (TABLEA) INTO TABLE ITABA
    WHERE (COLUMNA)
    NOT IN ( SELECT (COLUMNB) FROM (TABLEB) ).
    =============================================
    ColumnA = "the user input the field name"
    TableA = " the user input the table name"
    TableB = " the user input the table name"
    The problem lies at the WHERE clause. The system generate a sql error which says "unable to find the field name".

    Hi,
    Check the following code:
    For dynamic table name....
    REPORT demo_select_dynamic_database .
    DATA wa TYPE scarr.
    DATA name(10) TYPE c VALUE 'SCARR'.
    SELECT *
    INTO wa
    FROM (name) CLIENT SPECIFIED
    WHERE mandt = '000'.
    WRITE: / wa-carrid, wa-carrname.
    ENDSELECT.
    For dynamic field list
    REPORT demo_select_dynamic_columns .
    DATA: itab TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF spfli,
                wa LIKE LINE OF itab.
    DATA: line(72) TYPE c,
    list LIKE TABLE OF line(72).
    line = ' CITYFROM CITYTO '.
    APPEND line TO list.
    SELECT DISTINCT (list)
    INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE itab
    FROM spfli.
    IF sy-subrc EQ 0.
    LOOP AT itab INTO wa.
    WRITE: / wa-cityfrom, wa-cityto.
    ENDLOOP.
    ENDIF.

  • Bulk Loading using remote sql statement execution

    Well, i have a different scenario. I want to bulk load the tables like we do in MySQL with LOAD LOCAL DATA sql command.
    I have a file populated with data, what sql statement would bulk load the data into specified table using that file?
    Adnan Memon

    In Oracle, you would either use the SQL*Loader utility to load data from a flat file or you would create an external table (9i and later) that loads the flat file.
    A quick example of the external table approach

  • Using Select Aggregate Statements

    Hi Experts,
         I am getting mixed response regarding the use of aggregate statements in select query. My concerns are:
    1) Using aggregate function in select query or processing in internal table is more efficient ?
    2) If it is database dependent (as some may argue ), for which databases we have to use aggregate function and for which we should avoid to use it ?
    3) Is there any relevant study regarding this topic,  I mean some statistics with the no of records, and the underlying database used.
    Sam.

    Hi Sam,
    I agree with Aarif, but you can make use of aggregate functions while writing select query rather than using loops on internal tables to find Max. Value for example as this is more efficient.
    Please refer to the link below for more information on Aggregate statements.

    if anyone can help me out, please do so..thanx in advance...

    You cannot cast a ResultSet object (or any other object for that matter) to a primitive (such as an int)
    Replace the following line of code:
    int position = (int)SQLResult2 + 1;with this:
    int position = 0;
    if(SQLResult2.next())
      position = SQLResult2.getInt(1) + 1;
    }Additionally I noticed that you have put single quotes around total in the following line:
    String Query2 = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM userteam WHERE total > '"+total+"'";Are you sure that the total column in the userteam table is of string type? If not, you don't need the single quotes.

  • Should i use nested SQL Statements? or PL/SQL?

    here is my table:
    let's call this table total_stats, with 2 fields (columns) Date and Total.
    Row | Total
    ROW1 | 12508
    ROW2 | 12526
    I am going crazy trying to write some sql or pl/sql that will give me the following results: the result of row2Total - row1Total. I need the delta of the two Total's rows.
    Is there an easy way to do this without writing multiple nested sql statments?
    Should i write a procedure that uses cursors to help me get my end result?
    thanks

    Use analytic functions - LAG and LEAD - to access other rows in the result set in a current row. This should get you started:
    SQL> create table total_stats as
      2  select sysdate-1 as some_date, 12508 as some_value from dual
      3  union all
      4  select sysdate as some_date, 12526 as some_value from dual
      5  /
    Table created.
    SQL> select * from total_stats;
    SOME_DATE  SOME_VALUE
    12/11/2007      12508
    13/11/2007      12526
    2 rows selected.
    SQL> select
      2    some_date,
      3    some_value as this_dates_value,
      4    lag(some_value) over (order by some_date) as the_previous_dates_value
      5  from
      6    total_stats
      7  /
    SOME_DATE  THIS_DATES_VALUE THE_PREVIOUS_DATES_VALUE
    12/11/2007            12508
    13/11/2007            12526                    12508
    2 rows selected.
