OC4J 11g database connection exception

An application that works under OC4J 10.1.3.3 is throwing the following exception under 11g. I'm using the same data-sources.xml file. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.

This looks like a bug in the jdbc driver distributed with the OC4J 11g Technology Preview, because when I replaced it with the currently available 11g jdbc driver (11.1.0.6.0-Production+) the problem went away.

  • OBIEE 11g database connection error after deploying to server.

    Hi,
I deployed RPD to obiee 11g server and when I run a report it is giving database connectivity error. In 10g we just specify OLAP_DSN, OLAP_USER and same in connection pool with database password. I did the same in 11g as well but it's not working.
Is there any other place I need to specify database connection detail?
    Thanks

  • Oc4j and database connections issue (way too many created)

I seem to be experiencing a serious issue every time someone connects to my application. New connections are made to the database instead of using existing connections (i.e. pooling doesn't seem to work). In my data-sources.xml, the pools are set to have a max-connections of 3, yet when I query the v$sessions view, there are additional sessions created every time the application is hit which has sent it way over the max-connections parameter in the data-sources.xml file. If oc4j is pooling the connections how can this happen? Is there any way of tracking where this is occurring or what could be causing this? (SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME has been set, database is 10g, oc4j is 101202 and oc4j on linux platform)
    Thanks
    Paul

    Paul,
According to the documentation for OC4J 10.1.2, if you use the value of the "ejb-location" attribute (from the "data-sources.xml" file) when doing a JNDI lookup of your datasource, then you should be using connection pooling.
It's probably also an idea to not define a "pooled-location" attribute in your "data-sources.xml" file.
Also, you can get database connection information via the "Spy" [Web] application. Use the following URL:
    http://oc4jHost:oc4jPort/dmsoc4j/Spy
Of-course you need to replace "oc4jHost" and "oc4jPort" with the appropriate values. For example if you open your Web browser on the same machine that OC4J is running on, and if you are using the default port, then the URL will be:
    http://localhost:8888/dmsoc4j/Spy
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • J dev 11g database connection problem...

    database connection can't be create..
We fill all of off necassery fields.
    test the connection.
    result is success".
but we can't say OK. OK button not work. So we can't save conection.

    Ali,
as this appears to be installation specific, does this problem reproduce on another machine (if you have one around?). This could be a problem with locales, but I am not sure abouzt it.
Also, can you start JDeveloper from a commandline
    jdeveloper_11_preview\jdev\bin\jdev.exe
This prints possible exceptions to the command window. When you create the database conenction, check if there is a new message written to this window

  • Oracle 11G + Database Connection taking too much Time

    Hi ,
I am using Oracle 11G . When i try to connect to oracle database
    sqlplus system/impetus@database
it takes too much time ( more than 1 min )
I am not getting why this is happening ?
Before some day it was working fine but suddenly the problem occurred.. Is this issue is related to log files generated by oracle or memory related issue ( sga and pga)..
    Any Help please ?

Darn! /tmp/capture.log does not contain what I expected it to contain.
So a different approach is needed.
    issue the following command:
    script /tmp/capture.log
#now you are in a new shell & issue the next 3 lines
    strace sqlplus system/impetus@database
    exit
    Ctrl-d (Control D)
    now issue the following commands.
    ls -l /tmp/capture.log
    wc -l /tmp/capture.log
Post the results from 2 commands above back here

  • Oracle 11g database Connection & Response are very slow

I have an ORACLE 11g R2 on lRed Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.3 (Tikanga).
    initially it was working fine.
Now a days while attempting to connect into the database from network using @service_name
it takes a lot of time to establish the connection and even it gets connected the query response time is very high.
on the other hand if I connect from the native database machine's terminal without @service_name it works fine & the response time is convincing. But even from the native database machine's terminal with @service_name it is giving me the same pain.
can any body help me how to fix this.
    Thanks in advance..

    Thank you for the replies
The problem got solved. Problem was older version of Oracle driver was placed in WEB-INF/lib and a directory called lbrary(we created it) above WEB-INF, we were placed newer version of driver in oracle's jdbc/lib directory and specified that path in classpath. But by default the older version was prioritized and used by application so we were getting the exception mentioned. When we deleted older version of driver everything got working. This explation may help for those who have similar type of problems.
    Thanks

    Priya,
Thank you so much for your response. I did test my database source from console and on the console it reported the test was successful, where in the admin logs has same exception logs. I did try creating a non XA connection and it did not have these errors. But my application did raise same exception while doing transaction.
The application has around 250 EJB's that are written long ago and they all comply to EJB 1.1 spec. I am in the process of investigating the level of support for EJB 1.1 in Weblogic 11g.

    Hi,
I am getting following error whenever trying to deploy any application in embedded oc4j or whenever try to connect with embedded server on Resource palette.
Error while getting remote MBeanServer for url: ormi://127.0.0.1:23891/default:

I am using Jdeveloper 11g TP 4 on windows XP.
I have checked other links too related to above error and have checked following:
Proper host name entry in host file
No spaces in Jdveleoper installed directory name
Proxy setting in Jdeveloper: excluded localhost and ip address
Will be very thankful if anyone can help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance

  • Failover not working while connecting to Oracle 11g database

    Hi,
We have a J2EE application that connects to Oracle 11g database.
The connection URL we are using is as below
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION =(SDU=32768)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=abc.hostname.com)(PORT=1525))(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST= xyz.hostname.com)(PORT=1525))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=PQR)))
The issue that we are facing is, the database failover is not working. The application only connects to the first host in the TNS entry.Evertime there is a failure in the connection to the first host, manual steps are required to swap the hosts.
This started happening after we upgraded Oracle DB from 9i to 11g.
We are using the client jar of 9i to connect to 11g. Could this be causing the problem?
    Thanks In Advance.

Yes, you are right. Nothing else was updated.
The application still works as expected except the failover. If you are correct then I seriously doubt it has anything to do with java. It would be something to do with Oracle and/or network infrastructure.
If not then it is some small problem with the driver. You can try updating the driver but I wouldn't expect a fix.

  • 10G R2 appserver connecting to 11G database

    Hello!
We are upgrading our database to 11G but middle tier will remain at 10G R2 because of other constraints. A preliminary test showed that the JDBC data access was a bit slower. This may be for other reasons and we need to investigate more. But are you aware of any performance or compatibility issues between 10GR2 middle tier and 11G database? We earlier had a JDBC issue (OALL8 error) when we used 10GR2 against 9i database.
Any suggestion/tips/help will be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Arnab.

OK. We are now seeing some new behaviour.
I've installed ODAC 11g 32 bit onto the problem machine.
I also installed onto the system where things work.
    The result is:
    1) On the machine where everything worked with 10g ODAC, it's working fine with 11g
    2) On the machine where it DID NOT work with 10g ODAC, it still DOES NOT WORK.
Using the 11g 32 bit ODAC, we now get the following exception:
ora-12514: TNS: listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor
We are able to run SQLDeveloper and point to the same SID (ORCL) and we can connect to the DB instance fine.
Here is what the TNSNAMES.ORA file looks like:
    # tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File: C:\app\DjM\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    LISTENER_ORCL =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    ORACLR_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = CLRExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
    ORCL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl.168.1.100)
This is what the SQLNET.ORA file looks like:
    # This file is actually generated by netca. But if customers choose to
    # install "Software Only", this file wont exist and without the native
    # authentication, they will not be able to connect to the database on NT.
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
This is what the connection string looks like:
    "user id=xxx;password=\"xxx\";data source=localhost:1521/ORCL"
Again, any and all help/suggestions would be appreciated here.
    Thanks,
    JB

  • Database connection error on launch of OC4j

    (jdk1.5.0_05/jdeveloper 10.1.3..0.3.3412)
I have a working database connection in the Connection Navigator, but when I try to run my app in OC4j I get:
    06/01/09 14:06:32 Error instantiating application 'current-workspace-app' at file:/C:/local/jdevstudiobase1013/jdev/mywork/office2/office2-oc4j-app.xml: Error initializing ejb-modules:
Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connectionError Code: 17002
I'm very new to all this, but I don't think this is something very silly I've omitted.
    Thanks in advance.

Is the JDBC connection with the Oracle dataabse?
The Network Adapter exception is caused because:
    1.     The database host name, port number, or database instance name is wrong.
    2.     The database TNSListener has not been started. The TNSListener may be started with the lsnrctl utility.
    C:\>lsnrctl start

  • OBIEE 11g install fails on step 7 (database connect string)

I've currently spent 2 days trying to install OBIEE 11g on two machines (independently). This first is a Windows XP SP3 test PC running 4GB RAM, whilst the second is a Windows 2003 virtual server with 3GB RAM. The Database is Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4.0) on AIX 5.3.
The DBA has successfully run the RCU on the Database and the schemas needed for OBIEE have been created. The BIPLATFORM schema has also been granted DBA privileges.
Now I've tried to run both the simple and the Enterprise install for OBIEE 11g, but it always fails at the same step (step 7 of 13: Database details). I have selected the following:
    Database Type: Oracle Database
Connect String: hostname:port:instance, where hostname is the full server path eg xxxxx.uk.com and instance name is FFADEV01
BIPLATFORM Schema Username: As per username defined in RCU
BIPLATFORM Schema Password: As per password entered in RCU
If i change the connection string to FFADEV01.WORLD i get a 08031 error, whereas I am normally getting an 08035 error. The annoying thing is that I can connect to the schema using RapidSQL and the usernames and passwords as created in the RCU.
    Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

How was he able to install the BIPlATFORM schema using RCU on AIX? I thought RCU was only on Linux and Window platforms? I am about to install OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on AIX with a Oracle 10g DB but from what I read I wont be able to create the needed OBIEE schemas for the install because I won't be able to use the RCU on AIX. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
