OC4J ContentType error

Running a newly installed OC4J Instance and Web Forms 10.1.2.3.0 plus the latest OPatch patches, I am getting repeated error messages in the OC4J window when I start a form from the browser. The message is:
11/11/15 10:01:18 formsweb: The application failed to set a complete content type, text/plain, for request path: /lservlet
I get the same three messages when I just start and exit the demo form screen using the URL:
http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet
The error occurs multiple times: twice when my form starts, once when it exits, but not while the form is working. It occurs the same in both Internet Explorer and Firefox. I cannot seem to find this message reported anywhere, so I thought I'd ask here first.
If it helps, I am using the standard base.htm and basejpi.htm files, identified in the formsweb.cfg file.
Curiously, the formsweb.cfg file makes two references to "/lservlet" identified in the error message, but within my D:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms path, there is no \lservlet subdirectory.# Forms applet parameter: URL path to Forms ListenerServlet
serverURL=/forms/lservlet
# Example Named Configuration Section
# Example 3: configuration running the Forms ListenerServlet in debug mode
# (debug messages will be written to the servlet engine's log file).
[debug]
serverURL=/forms/lservlet/debugAny help with this error message will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Steve,
Unless you are finding that something doesn't work correctly, the error can likely be ignored. As for the cause, it may be related to bug 10186820 which is not fixed until version 11. One other point, remember that Developer Suite is inteneded for design-time, single user, local use only. So if you are accessing this OC4J instance from a remote client, this is not what it was intended for.
Regarding your question about "lservlet" or Listener Servlet, lservlet is the Forms Listener Servlet which is part of the complete "Forms Servlet". Both the "Forms Servlet" and "Forms Listener Servlet" are included in frmsrv.jar. We reference and alias the Servlets in web.xml (for Forms 10).
Remember that it is the Forms Servlet (frmservlet) that is responsible for generating the html which eventually causes the client applet to start. It is the ListenerServlet (lservlet) that does all the work after the applet has started.

  • Oc4j install error

10g is installed on my machine, i want to install mapviewer (quick start) and make it work ! in order to run mapviewer, i have to install oc4j, first of all, and start it.
i'm following the readme file instructions combining with spatial user's guide.pdf and following error is what i have succeed to do so far:
    D:\oracle10\product\10.2.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee\home>java -jar oc4j.jar
    Error opening registry key 'Software\Oracle\JInitiator\1.3.1.9'
    Error: could not find java.dll
Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.
as it seems, i don't have jInitiator installed (first of all and not the last), so where to find it?
as it concerns java 2 runtime env. following version of java 2 platform standard edition is installed: 1.5.0. (build 1.5.0_04-b05).
    thanks a lot

hi Steve and thanks for reply.
this is the only environment variables (%path%) concerning java:
    D:\oracle10\product\10.2.0\db_1\jre\1.4.2\bin\client
    D:\oracle10\product\10.2.0\db_1\jre\1.4.2\bin
no other env variable about java exists.
i have just installed j2sdk-1_4_2. is this one ok to be added to env variables:
    C:\j2sdk1.4.2_10\bin
about jInitiator: i have an icon shown in control panel, but when i click it, it says:
The system cannot find the registry key specified:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\JInitiator\1.3.1.9
does this mean jinit is not installed on machine or somehow reg key was deleted?
if i download jinit13118, will this one be ok to install it?
when i say 10g i mean database, i haven't installed app server yet. i'd like to run mapviewer as standalone. but i'll try also with app server.

  • JDev 10.1.3 OC4J JDBC Error

I'm having a problem running an application in JDev10.1.3 when mapping an oracle object to a java object.
The error occuring is "java.lang.ClassCastException: oracle_oc4j_sql_proxy_SQLBCELProxy_tuinsurance_lib_ejb_PolicyRate__BCELProxy"
This error only happens when i'm using Datasources retrieved through JNDI. If i use oracle.jdbc.DriverManager to instantiate a sql connection i have NO problem.
Only when i look up a datasource do i have this problem with mapping oracle objects to java objects. Note this has worked in earlier version of JDeveloper (9.0.5.2) with JDBC 2.0.
Does this have to do with Drivers or javax.sql.Datasource class in JDK1.4 ???
Has anyone had this problem ? Any JDBC or JDev experts who can help me out on this one ?
    Thanks in advance

  • Oc4j  dcmctl error while deploying

    Dear friends
I receive an error while deploying a war file to oracle 9i application server stating that one or more process is running, shutdown by 9iAS or by enterprise manager or use dcmctl resynInstance to free the resource.
This error happens when one deploy is either interrupted or not deployed properly. But even after stopping the process by "dcmctl stop" or by the command "dcmctl resynInstance" i am not able to deploy any more applications. Kindly guide me

After you interrupt the application deployment and before trying to deploy it again :
    - Check if OC4J config files (server.xml and default-web-site.xml) contains the failed application information
    - Check if DCM repository has failed application information (use dcmctl listapplications, or via EM)
If these two are out of sync, you might want to create a TAR, so support analyst can help you further diagnose the problem.

  • Not able to run the forms -OC4J Instance Error

    Hi all,
We are facing a problem, like in our developement server we have installed Forms 10g, and configured the formsweb.cfg(we had set the working folder as D:\Source) and default.env and registry also.
While calling the form from the other machines/run the form from the forms builder itself, we are getting error like "RFB 003.008". The same error is coming while running the test form using the "Start->Programs->Oracle Developer Suit - >DevSuiteHome1->Forms Developer->Run a Form on the web" method also,
When we started the OC4J Instance, we got the following message:

  • Oracle BIEE installation issue: Application Server default OC4J name error

    Hi all,
I am installing OBIEE 10.1.3.3.2 windows 32bit version on windows 2003 sp2. Before the installation I have installed the JDK 5 and Application Server 10.1.3.1.0(J2EE Server and Web Server) on the same server according to the pre-install section in the OBIEE installation guide.
When I install OBIEE (advanced installation), I got the error when I specify the Oracle Application server location:
Please specify a valid Oracle Application Server 10g installation location. A valid Oracle Application Server 10g installation must have the default OC4J instance named home and that home OC4J instance must be enabled.
When I install the Application Server 10.1.3.1.0, I have change the default OC4J name to "oc4j-soa", I think this is the root reason I got the error. I have tried to create another OC4J instance named "home", but failed coz the name is used for another directory.
Then can I have another way to continue the installation? Why OBIEE installer have this strange constrain while not any words about this issue in the installation guide (coz I follow the each steps in the guild before I take action)? I have search some threads and the only information is to install a simple installation, but it would create another application server..... and the simple installation type is not what I want.
Can anybody give me some hint or information about this issue? otherwise I have to purge and reinstall the server...... Thanks
    Scott

Reinstalling the App Server and naming oc4j instance to be called "home" resolves the issue but this is an odd requirement. I have an OC4J instance already running and it is named something else. Is there any other alternative to make this work?
    Swapan.
PS. I can always create a new oc4j instance named "home" but this is wasting of server resources.

  • OC4J Log Error Interpretation

Hi, I am trying to debug an authentication issue using a system based on the information in this article: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/oc4jjaas/oc4j_jaas_login_module.htm
    IE database/datasource based authentication.
I am getting the following error in the applications OC4J log every time a login attempt is made, no error is seen from the application, authentication simply fails.
When I had the recommended code for fine logging in the j2ee-loggin.xml file (<logger name="oracle.j2ee.security.oc4j" level="FINE" useParentHandlers="false">
    <handler name="oc4j-handler"/>
    <handler name="console-handler"/>
</logger>) there was no information at all recorded in the OC4J log, not until I removed the extra logger code from that file did entries such as the following begin appearing in the log file. What could be going wrong here? Why is the login process generating a null pointer error and why would the log file not be written too when the fine logging code was added to the config file? Any idea's? All I can really gain from this error message is that the DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule is at some stage atleast being referenced or called.

Well, still struggling with this one.. although i've managed to get fine oc4j security logging enabled through the console, the error stream now follows this sequence of events at each login attempt :
    [DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule]login called on DBTableLoginModule

What i cant work out is what is causing the login module to abort and raise a null pointer exception. Could this be due to a configuration mistake in the console manager or one of the xml files prior to deployment? I just have no idea how to approach fixing this issue.
I really would appreciate some assistance, 5+ days trying to get this working. I had this working on jdeveloper embedded oc4j, and all the tute's on standalone deployment pass off the configuration of standalone as simple compared to embedded, yet don't go into enough detail to get it working, atleast from my perspective.

  • My oc4j is error while I operate the mapviewer again, why?

start the mapviewer for the first, the OC4J are all right,

You should check your shared_pool_size and java_pool_size

This error occurs when these are not set high enough.
Increase their size and restart the db and try the

    HI All,
I am trying enter into oc4j admin with proper password. how ever next screen shows an error.
    Error:

Any help on this .. was approached server methods as per google threads , no luck.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    Hi,
I remember this as an issue in Unix and it was recommended simply to use the Unix kill command to stop the standalone OC4J.
Also, metalink document 1312743.1 provides this syntax:
    java -jar OracleBI_HOME/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi://localhost:23791 oc4jadmin <oc4jadmin password> -shutdown force
where <oc4jadmin password> is the password for the oc4jadmin user.
The syntax above works well on Windows. On Linux it generates the reported error.
If affected, try one of the following alternate syntax options. The first excludes the host name and port from the ormi argument. The second includes the IPV4 option.
    java -jar /OracleBI/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi:// oc4jadmin <oc4jadmin password> -shutdown force
    java -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar /OracleBI/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi://localhost:23791 oc4jadmin <oc4jadmin password> -shutdown force
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Dhar

Must I replace the admin.jar file with a more newer version of it? How do I determine the version of the admin.jar and if I update it to a newer version will it still be compatible with the rest of the settings?
    Thank you

The admin.jar for the OC4J connection should be the same as the admin.jar in the remote server.
For version, is the zip file size and date the same.

    Patrick,
    Please take a look at:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b14011/apdx_a.htm#i677582There is a section entitled "B.3 Elements in the application.xml File" which may prove helpful.
