OC4J instance is down in Oracle Portal Server

Hi all,
I am new to Oracle Portal 10g. In production environment the portal server component OC4J is automatically shutting down often and came back with few min's. Why it is happening?
The server.log file has below entry
" 07:59:37 10.1.2.3.0 Stopped (Shutdown executed by jazn.com/admin from 127.0.0.1 (localhost.localdomain))
13/02/13 08:04:24 10.1.2.3.0 Started
13/02/13 08:04:29 10.1.2.3.0 Started "
Please advice me on this.

Hi,
The reason behind your error is because OC4J_BI_FORMS is being restarted repeatedly changing its status: Alive->Stop->Init->Alive.
Disable the restart parameter from opmn.xml for OC4J component or increase the timeout value. Details given in given below metalink document id:
+Slow or No Response of Reports 10g/10gR2 Ping URL Causes OPMN To Restart OC4J_BI_FORMS [ID 261867.1]+*

  • File upload functionality in oracle portal server

I have got a struts portlet on oracle portal server 9.0.4.My functionality is to have a file upload facility. I tried to achieve it , but problem arises when i use any pdk taglibs like
    <pdk-html:link page="/ShowInitialSupportScreen.do?action=initial&levelOfAction=3">
after uploading when i forward to a result.jsp. and in that file if i use a tag like above, it gives null pointer exception because
    httpservletrequest.getAttribute(HttpCommonConstants.PORTLET_RENDER_REQUEST)
this returns null when my enctype is multipart/form-data. in the fileupload.jsp
and the in the internal implementation of the pdk taglib it refers to the PortletRenderRequest from httprequest object.
The following link says multipart is not supported by the Parallel Page Engine.
    Re: multipart/form-data jsp
Do you have any idea on this issue. File upload seems to be a basic functionality but doesnt the Oracle portal Server support it?
    With kind regards,
    -Rafeeq

I got the solution, we cannot achive file upload in portal server cos it does not support Multi-part Data . instead i achieved it by a separate struts application to upload and invoked it from my portal application in an popup window.

  • Seamless Integration Between Weblogic and Oracle Portal Server

    Hi,
Can someone please give me some insight into Seamless integration from Weblogic Portal Server to Oracle Portal Server.
    The Scenario is as:
A user logs into the Weblogic Portal, this Portal desktop displays some portlets. Links on these portlets navigate the user to the portlets deployed on Oracle Portal.
Is this feasible, and what version of the 2 servers would support this feature.
Can someone please snd across online resources which deal with my doubt.
    many Tx.
    Regards,
    Mukta

You might want to consider using WSRP to aggregate portlets deployed on
Oracle into WLP. Check edocs and dev2dev for some info on WSRP in WLP.
You can use 8.1 SP3 or later.
Check with Oracle to find out which version of their product offers WSRP
    support.

  • Portlet problem on Oracle Portal Server....

    Hi all,
    i m using Oracle Portal Server 10.1.2.
    Problem is as follows:-
There are two portlets (P1, P2) added on two seperate portal tabs( TB1,TB2) respectively under Portal Builder.
On portlet P1 when i do a action say Save and it saves the data.
now i go to portlet P2 which is on tab TB2 and when i come back on TB1 to go on portlet P1 then in the PortletRenderRequest i still get action value as Save and it saves the previous data once more.
in short....:- even moving on portal tabs the previous action of the last rendered portlet is firing.
how it is persisting the action in request , even after i have done with moving on portal tabs.
even on refreshing the page it is adding the same data again.
But this doesn't happen with IBM Portal Server.(Tested the same code with all the above conditions)
could any one please have some thoughts ???

    Hi Guys,
One good thing i found is
When i perform the same operations (as described in the first post of this thread) with JSR168 Portlets then it is working Perfectly.
So i feel , only the problem is with JPDK Porltet and not with Oracle Portal Server.
It's good to see that JSR168 are working fine except
    portletURL.setPortletMode(PortletMode.EDIT) ( till now i found this only )

  • Integrate OC4J 10.0.x in Oracle Application Server 10g

    Ok, i have a Oracle Application Server 10g Enterprise Instance including Infrastructure on a Linux-Server. Its OC4J is a 9.0.4 OC4J following the J2EE 1.3 standard.
So now Oracles offers a newer 10.0.x Developer Betarelease of OC4J wich will be in Production soon and happily enough this release implements J2EE 1.4 with real JAX-RPC Web Service Support (I need Web Services with Attachments!).
My question: How to integrate a 10.0.x-Version of OC4J in an Oracle Application Server 10g Enterprise (v 9.0.x) Installation ??? Whitepapers? Documentations? Internetlinks would help alot !
Thanks and keep the good work alive, oracle rules!!!
    bye from germany, marc

    Marc,
I don't have an answer for you (sorry), but actually, OC4J stand-alone is a complete application server -- unless Oracle have hacked it so much as to intentionally turn it into a not complete application server (it wouldn't surprise me ;-) Perhaps OC4J stand-alone will be sufficient for your requirements?
In case you are unaware, OC4J is derived from the "OrionServer". Unfortunately, their Web site is down temporarily, but these other sites may be enlightening:

    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Where I can get OC4J as a component of Oracle Application Server

    Hi all !
I installed Oracle Application Server 10g release 2 (10.1.2) and updated Oracle AS Portal to 10.1.4. I want download the Oracle Container for J2EE (OC4J) 10g release 3 (10.1.3.4) as a component of Oracle Application Server (not a Standalone OC4J). Where I can find it ? At the http://edelivery.oracle.com/ I found some of items such as :
+ Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.3) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) (DVD) (Part 1 of 6) --> six parts.
    + Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.4.0) Companion CD 1 of 3 for Microsoft Windows x86 (32-bit) --> three parts.
But I don't know which of type ?
Pls show me link where I can get it ?

It moved to Where I can get OC4J as a component of Oracle AS 10g release 3 ?

    hello,
    Check all logs..

  • Oracle Portal Server prompts for password

Thanks for looking into the problem:
I have entered UID and Password in the DAD files of both Portal and Login Server. But when i try to login my application portal it prompt me to enter the passord again. I want to login into the my Portal Server without entering any password as they are already present in my DAD files.

    Hi,
Basically, the UID and password you entered in DADs config files, are UID and password for database schemas ( one for portal schema and other for SSO schema). But when you access portal server, it asks you credentials which are stored for each lightweight user. This user / password is stored in Login Server (SSO).
    Hope it clarifies your problem.

  • Multi oracle instances left after deinstall oracle http server

    dear gurus,
I met a very strange issue.
After I installing OHS, I found a more instance showed on the em, together with my biee server in the capability gui , like below:
    Capability
    system components
Host OraIns BISer PreSer JHost Port ....
    xxx instance1 1 1 1
    xxx ohs_instance1 0 0 0
while even if I deinstall the ohs server, I still can see the ohs_instance1 :(, that's really very strange, any way to remove it out there??
btw, i follow the ohs deinstall steps i.e. remove ohs instance first then remove the ohs's oracle home.
    REALLY NEED YOUR HELPS !!
    thanks,
    Michael
    Edited by: 945096 on 2012-7-23 下午7:49

the issue has been solved by very interesting way.
After all removing operations of OHS have been done, you have to log in the em then go to capacity ,click the unlock ,biee will refresh the instances.... things will be done.
    I'm wondering if that's a bug.

  • How Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server linked to each other

    Hi ,
Please let me know what is the relation between a Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server ?
In my application The Oracle Application Server is installed in C drive and there is a Stand alone oC4j .
Please tell me how they are linked to each other .
    Thank you .

It depends on your need and what features and functionality of Oracle Application Server you are interested in. Note that OC4J is a component of Oracle Application Server that can run as a standalone component or within Oracle Application Server. Question #6 in earlier mentioned FAQ document states:
OC4J standalone is J2EE 1.3 compatible (1.4 and 1.5 too in later releases of OC4J) and is able to be used in both development and small scale production environments. OC4J standalone provides its own inbuilt HTTP/S listener to allow clients to execute Web applications that it has deployed. Application deployment and server configuration of OC4J standalone is performed by the manual editing of a simple set of XML files.
For large scale enterprise deployments, the Oracle Application Server product is likely to be more suitable with its comprehensive feature set including Oracle HTTP Server, process monitoring and management capabilities, and its configuration and management console.
So if you are happy with what you see in standalone OC4J and scalability isn't an issue for you, you can stay with standalone OC4J and don't need to move to Oracle Application Server.
PS: If you do decide to use OC4J that's embedded with Oracle Application Server, you can't move your standalone OC4J inside Oracle Application Server. You will have to reconfigure embedded OC4J again (as you might have done with standalone OC4J) and redeploy your applications.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • To change the JDBC driver for a single OC4J instance

    Hello,
I implemeted an app with oracle adf (Jdeveloper 10.1.2 ) and it use Oracle Domain objects.
I have an oas 10g (9.04.1) in windows
and I want to change the default jdbc driver for a single oc4j instance
in metalink i found the following information:
1.- From OTN, download and copy the 10.1.0.x JDBC driver to a directory on the server. E.g OH/newjdbc
2.- Opening EM-Website, navigate to the OC4J instance that should be altered.
3.- Find the "Java-Options" and, add the -Xbootclasspath option to it, pointing to the new JDBC driver.
    E.g. -Xbootclasspath/p:$OH/newjdbc/ojdbc14.jar
    4.- Restart the OC4J instance
    my 'Java-optios' default is
    -server -Xrs -Djava.security.policy=C:\oracle\904\j2ee\test_adf\config\java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true
my new 'Java optios' now is
    -server -Xrs -Djava.security.policy=C:\oracle\904\j2ee\test_adf\config\java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true -Xbootclasspath/p = D:\jdev1012\jdbc\lib\classes12.jar
    is this correct?
now I cannot deploy my app
    Rigoberto

Seems you missed something in step 3. From those steps the driver should be installed under C:\oracle\904\newjdbc and used in classpath, not d:\jdev1012.

  • Second Forms Services OC4J Instance

What is a benefit of creating a Second Forms Services OC4J Instance In Oracle Application Server 10g?
In which cases it is a better to create a second oas OC4J instance than to create a new configuration section
in the same instance for new forms application ? Or such configuration with Second Forms Services OC4J Instance is supported by Oracle ?
    Thank's

What's the alternative you're looking for?
If it is HTTPS to secure the communication - yes that's possible
If it's a plain socket connection in stead of HTTP - I think Oracle dropped that after version 6i, but I'm not 100% sure.
If it is traditional client-server - Oracle dropped that after version 6i.
So, please explain what is you want.
