October doesn't work

This year The October 17th (Sunday) doesn't appear. In 2011, October 16th (Another Sunday) doesn't appear too. And if I go to 2012 it's the 20th (Sunday) that doesn't appear. Always the Third Sunday of October. Does anybody knows what is happening? I read in another message that if I followed the steps below It would help me. But it didn't.
That's what I tried:
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats > Region. Region should be set to the country of your choice. Do not have it set to "Custom" as this can have unexpected results in the iCal window.
If that isn't the cause then:
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.

I faced this problem last year and am facing it now (the week doesn~'t start on a Sunday, I have not been able to sync iCal etc etc) and I'm convinced it has got to do with the Daylight Saving Time change that will take place tomorrow (Oct 17th) in Brazil.
I have done what was suggested earlier in this thread and it helps for a while. Then iCal messes things up again.
It's a shame this is happening again. iCal is a very important tool in my job and I hope Apple solves this problem once and for all. It's really annoying.

Getting rpm values from the fans on the MSI NEO2-FIR motherboard doesn't work

I currently have 6 Noctua NF-S12-1200 120mm fans spinning in my computer but i am unable to get rpm values from them except the cpu-fan. It doesn't work to get a readout from the others with either, BIOS, Dual Core Center or Speedfan. Regarding Speedfan is it true it don't support the SuperIO Chip on the Neo2, the FINTEK F71882F? It's not currently listed in their supported temperature sensors list.
So whats the problem? Shouldn't atleast DualCore Center atleast show the rpm's from the other chassis fans?
Or the fans don't support sensor readings?

Strange thing is that the CPU fan reads fine with the ULNA cable attached but the SYSFANS will not read the rpm with the ULNA cables.

Install disk doesn't work with Windows Vista

I just bought a new HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw and the install disk isn't compatible with Windows Vista. Apparently there's no ful feature option for Windows Vista on an HP laptop. After several hours of work I downloaded several drivers and got the printer to print, but the scan function doesn't work that well without the HP software which hasn't been created for Windows Vista.

I am having a very similar problem but do not have an answer either. I am running an X61 Type 7676A12 with a Lenovo ACP50 port replicator FRU part number 40Y8160. I am running Windows XP Pro. The port replicator has never been very great and would not restore the external monitor picture properly when the laptop had been in sleep mode however it was serviceable if not optimal. After downloading and installing the October MS security updates the machine would get a BSOD when the port replicator was plugged in. Remove the replicator and reboot and it worked ok. Plug it in again and BSOD. I tried upgrading the drivers from 5.1.4a to 7.1.1.03Aug07 and then to 7.1.2. No go. Emailing Targus with the problem got no response. The port replicator is now relegated to my junk heap of useless rubbish.

My bookmarks disappear when I close Firefox. I can get them back by reloading them from a backup file but they disappear again when I restart Firefox. I've tried the "taskmanager, Process, Firefox.exe, stop process, and it doesn't work.

This occurs each time I start Firefox. The bookmarks work OK while I am using Firefox and you can add to them and save them to a HTM file. The html doesn't work for backup. When you go to organize bookmarks and try the restore function, as in "Restore Sunday October 24, 2010" you get the following error message '''''Unable to process the backup file."

Migrated Mail Account doesn't work

Last week I used Migration Assistant to move everything from a 10.5 MBPro to a shiny new 10.6 MBPro. Just about everything is working except one of my email accounts. In its previous incarnation it successfully connected to an Exchange server using POP over SSL. Now it doesn't work. Nothing has changed at the server end - I can still use the same settings to access it from a Windows machine.
Mail doesn't report any errors, so I watched the conversation with Wireshark. The Mac side closes the connection after sending a TLSv1 encryption alert, code 21, which is an encryption error. When I look at the X.509 cert sent by the server, it has, according to Wireshark, the "not before" field set to Aug 6th 2011, and the "not after" field set to Aug 8th 2010. Would this be enough to produce encryption errors? Is the encryption mechanism more sensitive on Snow Leopard than on Leopard?

Update - I was misinterpreting the certificate dates. The "not before" is in fact 11/08/2006, and the "not after" is 10/08/2008, so it is not a date conflict issue, just a completely out-of-date issue (that's August, not October, for those that read their dates differently).
I ran Thunderbird, and it pops a dialog box to ask if it is OK to use the expired cert, and will then successfully retrieve Mail from the server.
Why won't Mail do it?

Gif doesn't work properly after saving to web?

I've taken a gif from the internet, cropped it, and plan to use it somewhere. The Gif works perfectly when I view it in Photoshop, but once I save it for web and view it through a browser, it doesn't work. How would I fix this? (I apologize for being rather vague)

Booting BIOS from USB doesn't work (890FXA-GD70)

Hi all,
in case of BIOS crash, recent MSI motherboards should be able to boot using a BIOS provided from an USB pendrive. I have tested this function by calling it directly by BIOS option, but it fails after BIOS is loaded getting a blank screen (debug code: 09) or the monitor off (debug code: 31). Does any of you know whether the problem is fixable or any hints? Is it working to you?

BIOS save function doesn't work as well. Some bytes are different comparing the saved file to original one.

Yes, you can say: "Flash your BIOS to the last version released some days ago, and retry", but that is the last chance for clear reasons. The problem hasn't been fixed flashing from 1.0 to 1.6, and I guess likely this code with the bug is in non flashable part of BIOS.

LMS25 / Common Services 3.0 problem (dbpasswd.pl doesn't work)

We have same LMS 2.5 on another server ( same model, same operating system, same patches) and it looks fine.

Also /opt/CSCOpx/selftest/database.pl didn't work with same error message.
I found the cause of problem. I have reproduced this error in test environment. The problem was in 8_Recommended patch cluster for Solaris 8. Patch cluster downloaded in September doesn't cause any errors, but after new patch cluster installing ( late October) CiscoWorks stops working. The reason for it is 109147-39 patch ( linker patch for Solaris). Older version 109147-37 doesn't cause an error in database manipulation. It is enough to run roll back this patch and 2 patches depended on it ( 108652-92, 108773-19). So command "patchrm 108652-92;patchrm 108773-19;patchrm 109147-39" solves the problem.

TM and LaCie doesn't work

Time Machine doesn't work with my LaCie external disk drive (FW400). TM only backs up my Applications folder, nothing else. I tried erasing the disk with Disk Utility, and rebooting, but this did not solve the problem. I have a a history of hourly backups but just the Applications folder.

Your LaCie FireWire, USB, or eSATA drive should work fine with Time Machine if prepared properly.
Here are a few things to take into consideration:
- Sometimes the user may not have partitioned and formatted their drive correctly; the drive should be partitioned using Apple Partition Scheme or GUID Partition Scheme, but not Master Boot Record. These are all partitioning options within Apple Disk Utility, the version that is part of both Leopard as well as Tiger. Earlier versions of Apple Disk Utility did not support all these partitioning options. Users should make sure that the current version of the Apple Disk Utility is used to partition their drive. Note well: GUID partition scheme is only useful for Intel based Macs. After partitioning, then the user should make sure the disk is formatted as Mac OS Extended. This is the best format to use for all Mac related functionality, especially backups
- At the last minute, Apple removed the ability to backup to a network share. This limitation did not exist in the developer versions released before October 29. It is reported that Apple removed this capability since there were stability issues. Backing up to network shares is highly desired, but should be bullet-proof before relying on this method of backing up.
- Users should avoid special characters in volume and folder names when setting up their backup drive. Users should limit their names to A-Za-z0-9 characters. Use of other characters as well as spaces could result in problems. I expect that Apple may come up with a technote to clarify what characters should be used.
The above tips are suggestions for best use of Time Machine with LaCie drives.

Reset_image_prefix.sql doesn't work

Hello,
My DB has two instances with two different versions of apex loaded. One is version 4.1.1 (working fine) and I decided to upgrade the other from 4.1.1 to 4.2. I created a new location entry in the httpd.conf file in my ohs instance to point to the new 4.2 instance referencing a new image Alias on the server. When I installed APEX 4.2 I pointed the images directory parameter to the new Alias 'i42' but it doesn't work. All of the applications are still referencing /i/
I did run the script reset_image_prefix.sql with /i42/ as input parameter, but the applications are still referencing /i/.
There was a similar discussion in October 2012 and Patrick Wolf wrote about a bug# 14785456.
But the BUG seems not to be fixed?
After executeing the script Iget:

Hi Carola,
which exact version of APEX 4.2 are you using? Are you using the last 4.2.2? Because that includes the fix you referenced. After installing that version or the patch set, we will automatically clear all application level image prefixes if they are identical to the current instance image prefix. So in your case you should set the image prefix back to /i/, install the patch set and then call reset_image_prefix again to set the instance setting to /i42/.

Some background information about reset_image_prefix.sql. That never changed the image prefix used in applications, only the image prefix for our Builder application.

I wanted to host my iWeb pages on Dropbox. I followed all the instructions but it still doesn't work.

I guess in October of 2013, Dropbox changed their program so you don't need a public folder to place your files in. I followed the instructions on numerous youtube and google result sites on how to do this. I thought I followed all the instructions but it still doesn't work. I downloaded Dropbox and configured it as instructed. I created a domain at .tk and when I put the URL in my browser, I see that .tk does go to my dropbox index html but it is a blank screen. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I would ask this to dropbox it could be they have blocked the option to avoid being used as free web hotels

I also waited hopefully for 7.1 and a correction. But nothing ... For more than 5 months I can no more use music voice control in my car, which also contributed to road safety.
Now I have also written a bug report. What Apple is doing here is a very bad joke, I'm sorry. Since October 2013 the problem is known... however... it seems, Apple is doing absolutely nothing.

Link to download payment receipt doesn't work

When I click on the link to download my most recent Creative Cloud payment receipt, I receive the following message:
We were unable to locate the specific transaction you are trying to access.
I can download my October receipt without any issues.

No response at all. Nothing. I actually created this post on accident while trying to find a way to contact their customer service. I eventually was able to create a support ticket, but it still says, Open - Pending Adobe Response and the link still doesn't work.
Yesterday I tried to sign in and check on the ticket, but the support site threw an error.
This situation combined with them being hacked doesn't give me much confidence in the Creative Cloud.

Recovery Manager doesn't work :(!!!

I have installed a new windows to my laptop (dv6-6177se) but it doesn't work as well as the original OS and when i tried to recover the original copy from the hard drive it didn't work! I installed HP recovery manager but when i try to open it there is a massage pops up tellin' me that there's missing fill called DZIP32.dll and HardDisk.dll for X64 i dunno what to do so plz help me to solve this problem.

Mini-DVI to S-Video Adapter doesn't work

Hi, I am using the Mini-DVI to S-Video adapter from apple to connect my macbook to the TV. But the only thing I get is a grey flickering picture on my TV. When I click on the monitor-button I can see that my macbook detects only a monitor (but not a TV) in addition to the macbook-LCD-display. I tried all different resolutions, but needless to say it doesn't work.
Can the adapter be broken, or is there a problem with the macbook?

If you connect the Mini-DVI to S-Video adapter, the monitor button on the menubar should show resolutions for Color LCD in one section and NTSC/PAL in the other.
A grey flickering picture is indicative of picking the wrong standard-PAL vs. NTSC.
