  • ODBC driver with Oracle 10G on 64bit Windows OS.

    I m facing a issue with my peoplesoft application which is installed on Windows 2003 64bit OS.
    Setup Details
    Oracle 10G Server on AIX 5.3.
    peoplesoft CRM tools 8.48,Oracle 10G client in on Windows 2003(64bit) installed.
    When i open ODBC administrator from CRM its open showing all the drivers registred to 64bit registry. Whereas when i see ODBC admin from Control panel of OS , its showing driver register from 32bit. My observation is that oracle ODBC driver is getting registerd with 32bit and application is calling DDBCadmin of 64 bit. Hence driver is not getting registered with 64bit registry.

    Hi kamlesh,

Do you mean to say copy usr and oracle folder? please explain in detail, will be higly appreciable.

    could not locate the setup or translator libraryThe symptom described is typical of an incorrect system env PATH setting (used by the data source admin tool), compared to that of the Oracle Home (specifically, path $OH/bin). The odbc driver config routine will search directories listed in PATH variable for necessary libraries (Client dll's). If some library fails to load (from e.g. oraoci*.dll or oraclient10.dll) it will probably error out, as in your case.
    Are you creating the odbc dsn on the databse server host or on some other machine? I.e. are you using the db host as a client or not?

  • Where can I find the ODBC driver for ORACLE XE

    Hi,
    Please help me in urgent. Where can I download the ODBC driver for Oracle XE?
    The OTN site I had visited but cannot find the suitable ODBC drive for Oracle XE, or (but, I am not sure) the ODBC 10g is suitable I had downloaded it but require Oracle Universal Installer to install.

    Have you checked the OTN site?
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odbc/index.html
    Update: Drivers for 10g should work with XE. Can't say anything about the installation procedure, since I don't use/install ODBC.

  • Configure Oracle 10g in Netbeans 6.9

    Hello,
    How can we configure Oracle 10g Version of Oracle Database with Netbeans 6.9 IDE , So that we can directly connect database with the IDE

    First you will need the Oracle driver found in the file ojdbc16.jar.
    In NetBeans go to the Services tab and select the Databases->Drivers node in the tree. Right-click and select New Driver. Find the jar file above and it should recognize the driver class for you (if not it is oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver).
    Then right-click on the Databases tree node and select New Connection. Select the Oracle driver in Driver Name and fill in the connection parameters.

    Hello sir..
    thanks for ur reply...
    for oracle 10g -----> we use XE as datasourse
    name..What?
    now i am using oracle 8i...Not so from the code you posted. Didn't I see "jdbc:odbc:..." in your first post?
    so what should i
    write...in the datasourse name...that means.......
    Connection
    con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@loc
    alhost:1521:????????","scott","tiger");Do you really use the default username and password?
    What should i write in place of ?????????..The name of the database you wish to connect to, of course.
    Do you have your tnsnames.ora set up properly? Did you install this database?
    None of this has ANYTHING to do with the error you posted, of course. Fix that first and then worry about the thin driver. At least it appears that the code you posted managed to connect to the database.

    hi
    dbgen is your project name? it should be the dsn name that has to be mentioned. Go to control panel->administrative tools>data sources and add the type of driver required.
    import java.sql.*;
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.*;
    public class TestThinDSApp {
      public static void main(String args[]) throws ClassNotFoundException,
          SQLException {
        // These settings are typically configured in JNDI
        // so they a implementation specific
        OracleDataSource ds = new OracleDataSource();
        ds.setDriverType("thin");
        ds.setServerName("dssw2k01");
        ds.setPortNumber(1521);
        ds.setDatabaseName("orcl"); // sid
        ds.setUser("scott");
        ds.setPassword("tiger");

  • How to configure Oracle 10g to use 4GB memory

    I'm trying to configure Oracle 10g to use >4GB memory. Have configured server boot.ini with required flags (/3GB /PAE). Rebooted server then created standard database, then connected to db instance and changed oracle parameters DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS, USE_INDIRECT_DATA_BUFFERS as required. Restarted DB instance, DB fails to restarted with SGA memory error. According to oracle user docs the SGA is nolonger in effect due to previous settings. Can you provide example of SPFILE with parameters settings that do work and use >4GB memory. Current server has 8GB, 2 x Dual XEON core/processors (i.e. 8 processors)

    The recommended /3GB switches in the boot.ini file can only be used with the following operating systems editions (KB article 291988):
    Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
    Microsoft Windows 2000 Data Center Server
    Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
    Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Data Center Edition
    Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003
    Important: Windows 2000 and 2003 Server Standard Editions DO NOT SUPPORT /3GB Switch.
    So if your OS is listed above, then you cannot have a larger SGA.

    How to configure Oracle 10g Advanced Security to use SSL concurrently with database User names and passwords
    In Oracle Advanced Security Documentation it is mentioned that i can use SSL concurrently with DB user names and passwords. But when i configure the client certificate on the client my DB connection is getting authenticated using the certificate, which out passing user id or password.
    We want to connect to Oracle DB over SSL channel so that the data packets are not in clear text. Also we want the user to make a connection using user id and password.
    Basically we want SSL with out authentication.
    Need your expert advice

    Read the documentation (I have given following links assuming you are running a 32 bit architecture)
    Server installations:

    Client installations:
    http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/to_toc?pathname=install.102%2Fb14312%2Ftoc.htm&remark=portal+%28Books%29
    You can find the required books (if not using 32 bit architecture) from

    Hi,
      This is Sathish, I am trying to create a report and retrieve data through stored procedure using ODBC Connection. When connecting to the Stored Procedure it is showing Database Connection Error 42000:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for oracle] Syntax error or access violation' Error.

    Hi Satish
    It could be an issue with the driver.
    You can try with the OLEDB n Oracle native connection to test if the issue persists.
    Also you can refer to the [Troubleshooting Database Connectivity for Crystal Reports|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/d05b3bb7-0f28-2c10-4ea3-84dbdc4e414e&overridelayout=true]

  • ODBC driver for Oracle 8.1.5 in Unix

  • Result Sets with the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle

    Howdy all.
    I have an Oracle database that I have migrated from MSSQL2K. My front end is mostly VB, and I have many (hundreds) DLL's that use ADO to access the database and execute stored procedures in the database. I cannot seem to get result sets from the Oracle procedures. I have tried passing a SYS_REFCURSOR as an IN OUT parameter, and I have tried returning a SYS_REFCURSOR in a function. The Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle does not seem to handle the ref cursors. If I use the Oracle ODBC driver, then ref cursors are handled sort of magically. Just like the result sets are in MSSQL with the SQL Server ODBC Driver.
    The question that I would like to pose to anybody willing to answer is this: Is there any way to use the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle without changing the way I do the database access (using ADO connection/command/recordset objects)? I need the same DLL's to work on top of both MSSQL and Oracle.
    I know that what I want to do is possible using the Oracle ODBC driver, but this will take some major changes to some of my DB components. I am trying to stay away from this, but it looks like I am going to have to go that route - that is unless somebody wows me with a good answer to this post.

    As you are using Microsoft driver which works in XP and does not on Win 2003 you should post this on microsoft forum.
