ODBC error "SQLAllocStmt failed."

Hi,
I have a simple program with three partitions: DBSO, SO and GUI,
querying a master/detail pair of tables in a database. Until
recently this worked fine on my (client) machine, but I couldn't get
it working when I put the SO's on the server. Specifically, it
would return zero rows no matter what it should have got.
We're using MS-SQL Server 6.5 on NT4sp4/i386 with an NT client. The
ODBC versions are: SQL Server driver 3.60.0319, DB library 6.50.252
and net library 6.5.0.0. These are the same on both client and server.
The SQl-Server side is ok, the PowerBuilder app that uses it natively
still works.
My SO throws this exception when run on the server:
USER ERROR: Prepare failed for dynamic SQL statement 3, error from database

Now, until recently the program worked fine when run locally. Unfortunately
while
trying to work out what the problems are we've managed to produce the same
error
on the client, with no idea how exactly we did it. As of now I can't locate
the
SO's back on the client because Forte thinks ODBC is not set up.
USER ERROR: The node ERMINTRUDE is unable to support this partition
(ContactWindows_cl0_Part1). This is because either all of the restricted
projects required by the partition have not been installed on the node or
the
node does not have the external resource or thread package that the
partition
uses. This partition requires the restricted project(s) ODBC and the
external
resource GodzillaDatabase.
In my ODBC configuration I have GodzillaDatabase set as a System DSN, having
just moved it from being a User DSN. Neither fixes that problem.
Does anyone have any ideas on this, or solutions to it?
Thanks
Chris

Hi Steve,
If you open the Report and then click on DataBase, Log on and connect first. Then open your report, then Database, Set Location and once it's done then Verify the Database. Fix any errors or warnings that may pop up.
Lots of changes between 8.5 and 2008. CR detects that the report is the old format and it then goes through an series of internal report upgrade routines to convert all functions to the current format.
Also, all of the database drivers were re-written to take advantage of the updated functionality and Client enhancements. As well as we removed any "custom hacks" that we did back then to fix "issues" int he DB client drivers at the time. All of those "fixes" were removed, to much work to maintain them all, now if there are issues it's usually due to the DB Client not following ANSII 92 Standards.
One issue that does show up from time to time is that the order you inserted the tables can have an affect on how CR generates the SQL, may not be the case for your issue though, just something to watch for.
What happens if you create a new report and use that same SQL, save it, close all, re-open the report and run it. Do you get the same errors?
Also note: you did not say if you also updated the ODBC driver? As of CR 9 we are UNICODE compliant, may be your client needs to be updated also. Also verify it's using ODBC 3 and not ODBC 2 standards.
Thank you
Don

  • Crystal Reports 2008 - C-ISAM/ODBC Error 42000 Failed to retrieve data

I'm hoping someone out there has a solution to this problem.
    I have a bunch of reports which I've converted from CR8.5 to CR2008 (SP2 + HotFixPack 2.7 Installed)
Our server is currently running SCO UNIX OpenServer 5.0.7 with a C-ISAM Database serving our accounting software.
Some of the more basic reports have converted with no problem (daily sales figures etc...), but some reports such as customised purchase orders, and complex sales histories etc... continue to have this problem.
Note, all my reports functioned perfectly under CR8.5.
This error occurs within seconds of executing the report.
FAILED TO RETRIEVE DATA FROM THE DATABASE
Details: 42000:ERROR  Syntax Error - Database Vendor Code: -1
After which, the winsock comms need to be reset.
One example SQL query is as follows (on a report re-designing my purchase order for imported products.
    SELECT purchase_order.po_order_no, purchase_order_line.stock_code, purchase_order.po_backorder_flag,
    purchase_order_line.po_line_description, stock_master.stk_desc_line_3, stock_master.stk_description,
    stock_master.stk_desc_line_2
    FROM   (purchase_order_line purchase_order_line INNER JOIN purchase_order purchase_order ON
    (purchase_order_line.po_order_no=purchase_order.po_order_no) AND (purchase_order_line.po_backorder_flag=purchase_order.po_backorder_flag))
       INNER JOIN stock_master stock_master ON purchase_order_line.stock_code=stock_master.stock_code
Does anyone have any idea??? Really driving me insane... Is it the order of my links, type of links, grouping??????
Strangely, some other similarly linked reports work perfectly.
    Cheers in advance,
    Steve

  • EIS Error: ODBC Error driver's SQLAllochandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed

    HI guys,
I had Oracle 10g(Run time Client) installed, but to create a catalog i need to create an ODBC connection first so I went ahead and tried to do it but i didnt find the ODBC driver for 10g so I installed Oracle 11g(Run time Client) over 10g. Then, I created a ODBC DSN and tried to create OLAP catalog using the ODBC DSN but it says the following error.
ODBC Error driver's SQLAllochandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed
I researched a bit and found that its an environment variable issue so uninstalled the Oracle 10g, now I've got only 11g but still the same error.
When I test the connection while creating the DSN it says Connection Successfull, its only on EIS front I am getting this error
Can any of you plz help me out of this error.
    Thanks!!!!

  • Powerpivot Report 2010 - OLE DB or ODBC error: Query timeout expired; HYT00

    0
I have report already developed by someone in powerpivot 2010 and deployed to sharepoint in powerpivot gallery library. The data source for this report is SQL Server 2008 r2. I have set the refresh options in sharepoint to run after business hours during
week end. When I check the refresh history it shows this error message "OLE DB or ODBC error: Query timeout expired; HYT00. An error occurred while processing the 'xxx' table. The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the
    transaction failed..
I have tried to run the "Also refresh as soon as possible " just to check but same error message is shown.
This is the detailed error message details:
    03/02/2014 21:06:55 03/02/2014 22:08:15 01:01:20 Failed
OLE DB or ODBC error: Query timeout expired; HYT00. An error occurred while processing the 'xxx' table. The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed
Could anyone guide me on this issue? Truly appreciate your help in advance.

    Hi asritha,
I would suggest you take a look at the following articles regarding how to configure PowerPivot data refresh in SharePoint Server:
Configure and Use Stored Credentials for PowerPivot Data Refresh:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210671(v=sql.105).aspx
Configure and Use the PowerPivot Unattended Data Refresh Account:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff773327(v=sql.105).aspx
Note: Please ensure that the account have sufficient permission access to your data source.
In addition, please elaborate your PowerPivot data soure with more detail. If you are using SSAS cube, please try to increase "ExternalConnectionTimeout" property default value to see if this helps. Here is the similar thread for your reference,

  • Error: Component failed to run due to a Object Package scheduling failure

    Hi,
    BusinessObjects XI R2 SP 5, FP 5.1
I am trying to schedule a group of reports (crystal reports) via a package where the output destination is to an email. At the event of execution of the scheduled time for the package; the package fails with the error: Component failed to run due to a Object Package scheduling failure. (Note: When scheduled individually it is successful and it was copied to the package from its original location, so there is no mistake in parameters or ODBC connections)
When we go to the history and within the instance, we see that some of the reports have the status as success and some are failed with the same error message. Even though some of the reports are made to fail at the event of 'NO DATA'; what I do not understand is that how come some of the other reports (which contains data and which works when trying to run manually or scheduled individually) are failing.
I would understand something is wrong when the entire package fails which is not the case here as say of 50 reports, 5 are successful and the rest fails with the same error.

Sorry posted on the wrong section...

  • ODBC Error while Siebel Server try to connect to Oracle 10G

We have managed to get through with the configuration of siebel server on HP Unix. However before we get to the Database configuration, we are encountering errors with ODBC connection to oracle 10g database. We are able to connect to oracle using sql plus but odbc connection is failing. We verified for patches, missing files, directory access rights - but no clue as of now.
    Our error says:
    Logging into "ENTSIA_DEV_DAN" as "sadmin"....
/user/lib/hpux32/dld.so: Unable to find library 'libclntsh.so'.
    ODBC error IM0003 in SQLConnect:
(DataDirect){ODBC lib} specified driver could not be loaded
Unable to login using specified odbc parameters
This has become a show stopped for us and we are strugging with this for the past three days without much direction.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I guess your DataDirect Driver which gets registered during Database Configuration has some problems.
Can you check whether the DSN is using the proper Driver?
Also, the username through which you are logging in to start Siebel Services must have proper rights.
Many times on Windows platform i have noticied this error in ODBC due to improper user rights. If the rights are not proper, the DataDirect Driver fails to get loaded & throws similar error.

So, we checked the database and noticed the schema and their views were damaged and -due to this- they lost all their properties (like data types, for example). So, we had to recompile all of them in order to avoid any loss of data. This was done in TOAD, as per the following info: https://support.quest.com/SolutionDetail.aspx?id=SOL66821
Finally, once all the views on this schema were rebuilt and fixed, we were able to deploy the Cube again.
Hope this help in the future. Cheers!!

  • OLE DB or ODBC error: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied

    Hi,
I have one client and one server.  In both hosts I created an OS-user named User1.
The user have been given various role under the prefix SQLServer2005.
The default instance of SQL Server and instance (background-process) of
Analysis Service are also run under User1.
I connected via Management Studio to Analysis Service directly in the
server.  I set the permission to access Analysis Service to Everyone.
This means everyone should be able to use Analysis Service.  I have set
ODBC data source to the server.  Testing was successful.
I created a project to create a cube.  The tables are fairly small (total 300 MB, biggest one 290).
On project setting (created at client) I set the server host as
deployment target. I managed to deploy project when all I have are Data
    Source and Data Source Views.
But on deployment I always failed.   The errors remain the same, begins with
OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.; 08001.
I have tried 4 combinations of Impersonation :
    (A) Use a specific username and password
      * in which I supply User1 and the password of User1
    (B) Use the service account
    (C) Use the credentials of the current user
    (D) Default
Why is this? The server does certainly exist.  I think the error message is wrong.
I have seen 3 posting that seems related.  One of them say the solution is giving the right impersonation, but gave no detail.  About the privilege, User1 are granted the role of
    SQLServer2005MSOLAP.  What is the solution?
    Thank you,
    Bernaridho

I just had this problem and solved it by creating an alias in SQL Server Configuration Manager, as below:
Scenario: My SQL server is accessible from the internet under my.domain.com, and from itself at ServerName. But the local network can't see itself through the router at my.domain.com, so the deployed project is unable to process the cube, since that would
require Analysis Services to be able to see the SQL Server at my.domain.com, which it can't do.
So I changed the server in my project from my.domain.com to ServerName, and I created a local alias to ServerName in SQL Server Configuration Manager, under SQL Native Client 11.0 Configuration, Aliases. In my case, I pointed it to localhost port 1333, and
used SSH -L 1333:my.domain.com:1433, but I could have pointed the alias directly to the server, just as well. (Verifying... yes, that worked too, so you can forget SSH if you have no interest in it.)

    Hi,
I am currently receiving the following error in BI Answers when I run a query against a Microsoft SQL 2005 Server.

I am able to connect successfully to the Data Source and run a query against the database using the NQCMD command line tool so believe I have configured the DataDirect 7.0.1 drivers correctly, also I am able to view the Table Data in the RPD Physical Layer in the BI Administration Tool. So don't understand why I am getting this error.
I have also activated the nquery.log but that doesn't really give me any further information.

I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on what could possibly be causing the [DataDirect][ODBC 20101 driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near 'UserName'.. error ? And also provide any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this issue further as I am now completely out of ideas of what to do next having tried numerous things i.e. setting  IDENTIFIER_QUOTE_CHAR = '' in DBFeatures.INI which I found in similar posts on the subject all to no avail
    Regards,
    Tom Rowe

    Hi Rajagopal,
Thanks for your reply after doing some further investigations this morning I found and corrected the problem...
The DataDirect Driver does not like double quotes in the query for some reason, testing  using the BI Answers generated SQL with the nqcmd tool below...
With double quotes “” it fails immediately
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706."Id" as c1, T18706."UserName" as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706."UserName" = 'trowe' )
    select T18706."Id" as c1, T18706."UserName" as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706."UserName" = 'trowe' )
[102][State: S1000] [DataDirect][ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near 'Id'.
    Statement execute failed
With double quotes removed for just the columns I now get the Error near ‘ETMS_Users’ which still had the double quotes
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    [102][State: S1000] [DataDirect][ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near 'ETMS_Users'.
    Statement execute failed
With all double quotes removed it works !
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from ETMS_Users T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from ETMS_Users T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    c1           c2
    42499        trowe
    Row count: 1
    Give SQL Statement:
The solution to fix the problem is...
In the BI Admin Tool Physical Layer Database, Properties Features tab is to delete the double quote in the Value column for IDENTIFIER_QUOTE_CHAR, setting this in the DBFeatures.INI file does not resolve the problem possibly it did in earlier versions of the product.

Also I am able to connect from BI Administration and update row counts
    Help is appreciated

here is my self written startBI.sh on Oracle Linux64
I am having an EBS R12 Instance for my database

    echo $ORACLE_HOME
    cd /oracle/OracleBI/oc4j_bi/bin
    . ./oc4j -start
    cd $home
Another landmine is that you may need to use lib32
The gateway libraries in NSConfig.ini may point to 10g libraries.
This is OK if you have 10g but for 11g you may have to relink libclntsh.so.10.1
    Hope this helps
All these roadblocks make you dig more, google, read docs experiment and try work arounds
Though this is frustrating we get to discover more about the engine.

  • Odbc error in answer

    Hi All,
I am unable to solve this issue for a week now.I am using oracle 11.2.0 client for 64 bit . I could import the tables and view data from rpd.The problem comes when I run the report from answer.I get ODBC error. I am accessing the obiee server and oracle client through remote desktop connection from my local machine and the database is located in different server. The obiee configuration is fine since I am able to view records from rpd(Obiee Admin).
When I run the report from Obiee 11g answer , I get the following error:

I did copy tnsnames.ora to {Oracle_BI1}\network\admin directory & {oracle_common}\network\admin directory and Set up TNS_ADMIN to C:\OracleBI\Oracle_BI1\network\admin .I have checked the environment variables and it is correct. This issue is killing me. I have reinstalled oracle client too. Is it the obiee issue or any firewall or it is because I am using remote desktop??
    Thanks,

The Database is Online, the 'SAPDB: UCS' service is running and the SAP_Content_Server IIS is running. I can see no error messages in the logs.
Anyone know what the cause of this error could be?
    Thanks

Thanks for answering your own question for others to see James. Did you award yourself points?
Follow on question for you; did you use the word Livecache in the statement? I'm not familiar with ODBC so don't want to break anything.
This is the statement from note 301352. I'm installing Content Server, not LiveCache:
    odbcreg LiveCache -i -p c:\sapdb\programs\pgm

I am trying to run a 3rd party software that access Oracle. I have set up the ODBC connections and tested the connections. They tested successfully. But when I try and connect to Oracle using this tool I get the following error: OCIEnvCreate failed with return code -1. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanksif the connection request actually gets to the listener, then it will be logged.
If no record exists within listener.log file, then the root cause & solution are external to Oracle.

  • Odbc error message customization

    Hi,
I need to customize the message that Answers shows when an ODBC error happens. I saw in OracleBI\web\msgdb\l_en\messages\odbcaccessmessages.xml the error kmsgOdbcAccessOdbcException:
    <WebMessage name="kmsgOdbcAccessOdbcException"><TEXT>Odbc driver returned an error (<sawm:param insert="1"/>).</TEXT></WebMessage>
I can change the message for all the Odbc errors, but is there a way to change it depending on the error that happens (for example, when error nQSError: 10058, it must give a different message)? (depending on the parameter). Where is this message called from? Where is the param set to a value?
    Thank you

I am getting the error message "The ODBC data source returned the following error; (internal error:data not found)" when I try to import photos.
I can view the photos (and tags) I have moved, but cannot add to that collection.
I have seen in these forums (below)solution is to Remove Windows XP service pack 2, and re-install it. BUT I think I can only remove Serice Pack 3 from my version of Windows.
Will the fix work by removing and re-installing SP3? Or is there a better fix? HELP!
I am really keen to get a FIX for this as my wife needs access to the photos for her artwork.
I have just moved about 10,000 pictures (in Adobe Photoshop Album Starter edition) from an old PC (failing hard drive) to a new one.

Please try reinstalling the Service Pack 2 according to the instructions in this Adobe techdoc:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331094.html
The document is written for PSElements 3, but we have reason to believe it also applies to PSAlbum (SE).
