Odd edit box behavior

I've seen some odd behavior today a couple times when I've tried to edit a message.
The Edit box pops up but not with the text of the message I'm editing, but from an edit much earlier in the day.
The first time it happened, I tried to make an edit, but it wouldn't submit it. It just said there was an unknown error.
The second time, it took the edit but had the old message body and message subject from a completely unrelated thread.
EDIT: I just went in to edit this message and all behaved just fine.

Click-box behavior and calling javascript

Greetings,
While working on a project I have noticed odd behavior
concerning click-box behavior where there are more than one
click-box on a slide.
Here is the situation:
I have a Captivate (2) lesson project. In several slides I
have an area on the slide where the user can access material
outside the lesson. They do this via clicking a click-box. The
click-box is set to fire a javascript that opens the additional
content (an outside url) in window that "floats" above the
currently viewed slide.
The javascript is a standard open browser window script with
passed parameters.
Here is the script being called (it is located in
standard.js):
function openBrWindow(theURL,winName,features)
window.open(theURL,winName,features);
This script is being called in Captivate in:
Insert -> Click-box -> If the user clicks inside the
box, On Success -> Execute Javascript
An example of a typical call:
Click box -> JavaScript: -> In the window/field is:
javascript:openBrWindow('
http://www.mydomain.com/about/org-pol/f-07/f-07-016.html','mypolicy','width=800,height=600 ,scrollbars=yes');
This works fine. A window with this URL opens up over the
stopped slide.
The odd behavior comes in where I have more than one of these
click-boxes on a slide. If the user clicks a second click box, the
correct (different) URL opens up in a window OK, but the slide (now
behind the new, open window) advances. It shouldn't advance to the
next slide. It should stay put until a user clicks a particular
button to advance.
Has anyone seen this type of behavior before? Is this a bug
in Captivate 2? Or a bad javascript call? Any thoughts?

Hi TPK
When you edit the properties of the Click Box, note that
there are two buttons to the right of the "JavaScript" field. One
is an ellipsis ( ... ) and you probably clicked that one to enter
the script. The other is a down arrow. You need to click the down
arrow and DE-select the option labeled "Continue playing project".
You will need to do this for each Click Box the user may interact
with where you don't want the slide to continue if the user clicks.

Edit box Timeout

It's fundamentally wrong for the edit box to timeout and not allow you to post edits when you have finished typing them if you are outside the timeframe for edits.
I accept I shouldn't be able to Start a new edit, but I was just ediiting, and lost a message beacuse at the end when I clicked post it said I was too slow to edit. wrong wrong WRONG
If you need to edit a message, and you are able to start something, you should be allowed to finish it unless you close the edit window and navigate away from the page.

Re: the edit limit
THe limit is there because the forums use a mirror site so to realize an edit both sites have to be coordinated. So 10 minute was used as a reasonable compromise. Prior to that we could not edit any posts.

but horizontal line is not adjusting ....

You can't place another object directly below an object that 'grows'.
Create another section and move the line to this new section.

How can labview update the string control (text-edit box) after we have pressed the carriage return key on the keyboard during text-editing within that box?

Dear readers,
I have been trying to work out how to get labview to detect the event when a 'string' control has been modified, where the user has finished editing the string either by 1) pressing the enter key on the keyboard, or by 2) taking the focus away from the string control again. For example.. if I use the mouse to click on the string control and then I type 1234 into the box, I would like to have a routine that does something once the user hits the Enter key of the keyboard, or when the user takes the focus away from the string control again by clicking on something else. I would like the routine to respond even when the user didn't change anything in the text box (such as when we mouse-click on the edit box to go into edit mode, and then mouse-click on something else to remove the focus with no changes to the contents in edit-box).
The purpose of my routine is to have a edit-box for a user to change for example the centre-frequency of a vector network analyser, so that the centre-frequency of the network analyser can change once the user finishes entering a new value in the text-edit box by hitting Enter key after the number is keyed in. Even if the user has clicked on the edit box, but changes their mind by mouse-clicking on something else to remove focus from the edit box, I would still like labview to detect the event when the control loses focus, so that the centre frequency can be updated anyway (to the same value that was already in the edit box).
So far, I've tried set the string control option to 'limit to single line', so that I can try to scan for a carriage return .. '\n' ... pattern in the string. Unfortunately this doesn't work because labview doesn't seem to attach the '\n' to the end of that single line.
Could someone please suggest ways to set a flag when a user hits Enter during text-edit mode of a string control, or when focus has been removed from the string control?
While I've only described my problem for controlling a single control parameter on the gpib device, I'd like to make this feature work so that I can do the same kind of thing with other control parameters as well.

Hi Kenny,
instead of using the event structure, you can directly achieve to what you want by the KeyFocus property of the string control.
- Enable Limit to single line option
- Create the property KeyFocus in read mode and connect an indicator
Each time you click on the string to modify it KeyFocus is True; when you click away or hit Enter KeyFocus is False.
You can toggle your settings when KeyFocus changes from True to False.

There isn't a keystroke event for custom JavaScript dialogs, or any proper interactive events for the fields. You can validate fields when the user presses OK, and you can test fields when the user changes focus by setting the "Action" property for the field. But the only practical way to restrict user input to numbers is to use George's suggestion. There is a number property for the fields but it has an undesirable side affect and I never use it.

Odd Wiki Authentication Behavior

We are running OS X Server 10.5.5 with Open Directory bound to an Active Directory install. Our wiki is limited to authorized users only. Users come from both AD and OD. The site is running under SSL because we have turned on clear text authentication as outlined in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1619.
First, multiple users cannot log in to the wiki from the same desktop PC. When the first user logs in, they get in without error. If they log out then someone else tries to log in with different credentials, the second user gets the infamous "Error from Server: Invalid Session (8002)" message. The first user can log in and out at will. It is only subsequent users that get the error. The big oddity is that this is inconsistent. Sometimes a second, third...etc. ... user can log in immediately without issue. I have seen no difference in the accounts. It seems like sometimes credentials are being cached somewhere and sometimes they're not.
Second, at the same time the previous error started to show up, the login box behavior for incorrect logins broke. Rather than the box "shaking" when an incorrect login is entered, the "Error from Server: Invalid Session (8002)" message pops up.
This all started with the install of the 10.5.5 update.

Some more details.
The only users with problems are those coming from OD alone (no AD account). Also, if I change the password type to "Crypt Password" the issue goes away and all can log in successfully (though the login box behavior is still broken for incorrect logins).

Odd Calc Order Behavior

Hello all,
I've put together a hybrid analysis cube and I'm experiencing some odd calc order behavior. It appears the years are calculating backwards.
I load my 2007 end balances and calc forward three years. 2008 is correct, but 2009 and 2010 are incorrect. They are incorrect inasmuch as the calcs that require 2008/2009 end balances are incorrect. So I run the script again and now 2009 is right, but 2010 is incorrect. Then I run it once more and 2010 is correct.
It appears the end balances for 2008 and 2009 aren't available for 2009 and 2010, respectively. Thus, I think 2010 is calcing first, but with no 2009 end bals, so it's off. Then 2009 goes, again no end bals, so it's off. Then 2008 calcs, and since 2007 end bals are in there, it's calcing correctly. Thus, I have to calc again two times for 2009 and 2010 to be correct.
Here's my script:

CALC ALL EXCEPT DIM("Years","Scenario");
Endfix
ScenarioMbr is a level 0 descendant of the Scenario dimension.

I would suggest checking on your outline order. It sounds like your ending balance hasn't been calculated by the time the beginning balance needs it (as evidenced by your three passes). The order of members in your FIX statement has no bearing on the calculation order. By this, I mean make sure that your Years dimension is ordered as follows...
Years
+ 2007
+ 2008
+ 2009
+ 2010
Also, make sure that your periods (where your months are is, assuming it is a different dimension) is located above your Years dimension.
Lastly, how are you facilitating getting your Ending balances into your Beginning balances? Sometimes the sequencing for this type of work is improtant as well. For example, if your Ending Balance is a two-pass, it will not be ready until a second pass is done.
IF this doesn't help, maybe provide one of the BegBal members that isn't working, your outline order, the order of the Years dimension, and the dense/sparse settings (assuming BSO).

Odd Junk Mail Behavior

I've been experiencing odd Junk Mail behavior on my Mac; I've got the Mail app set so it puts the emails it thinks is Junk in the Junk folder. I do this because I've noticed that certain legitimate emails keep ending up in the Junk folder automatically.
I've also noticed that some of the emails in the Junk folder have not actually been flagged as Junk Mail, they were not colored brown by the Junk Mail rule and there is no button available to tell Mail it's not Junk. How do I stop Mail from flagging something as Junk when it doesn't seem to tag it as Junk but it still ends up in the Junk folder?
I see emails tagged as Junk in the Junk folder that are legit, so I click the "Not Junk" button and move them back to the proper mail folder. But the next time I get mail from the same source, it gets flagged and tagged as Junk again. I thought the Mail app learns from the training we give it. How do I resolve this situation?
I've already set the Junk filtering to not filter emails from recipients who are in my Address Book.

Either you’ve messed with the Preferences > Junk Mail > Advanced settings, or those settings have become corrupt, or you have one or more rules that have a bearing on this.
Assuming it isn’t the latter, try this:
1. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail, disable junk mail filtering, then enable it again. This resets the rule that governs what the junk filter does.
2. Choose either Training or Automatic mode (it doesn’t matter) and leave the other options checked. Click Advanced to see how the junk filter rule is defined now if you want, but don’t touch anything there.
3. Reset the junk filter database (Preferences > Junk Mail > Reset).

How to save contents of two different rich edit box into single rtf file in windows 8.1 app

Developer, I have requirement to save registration data into rtf file.. These can only be done by if I put rich edit box to fill the data.. Now if I am going to write the code for saving the data of different rich edit box into one particular file, it
only saves the data of last rich edit box.. So plzz suggest that how can I save the contents of different rich edit box together into one rtf file.

Ok Nishant, just did some quick research, since rtf file is unlike txt file, we cannot simply directly write some content to the rtf.
You can try to find some third party code that can help you insert text into rtf file or you would like to load the content from rtf out to the richeditbox and merge them to one richeditbox and then save back to the file.

I have just created my first form and saved it as a PDF. The editable boxes have a background colour of Blue and I would like to change this. Can it be done?

The blue background is the field highlighting that you have the option of turning off. If you don't see the purple bar on top with Highlight Fields toggle button, it should displayed by clicking the top icon (purplish) in the navigation pane on the left

Using edit box in Read only mode

I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 with OAF.
In one page I have created one region with a few edit boxes. In this region I want to display the information using the edit boxes in a "Read Only" mode so that it matches with the same background colour.
If the content of the edit box is small, i.e.: a few characters long, but if the content is large about 150 characters, then if I make the edit box read only, then it does not come to a new line. For this I have to make the edit box in "Disabled" mode. In "Disabled" mode only, the long message is shown in multilines. But my problem is that, when I make is "Disabled, it does not become uniform with other edit boxes with the same background colour. Can you please suggest, how can I address this problem.

Here's an example of modifying in internal table from another program in CRM
FIELD-SYMBOLS : <fieldcat> TYPE slis_fieldcat_alv,

With the above assign you can alter the data

How to align the text vertical in the edit box in mfc?

Hi,
I had an edit box of which height is increased than the default.Now the problem here is when I am entering text into the edit box the text is not present at the centre of the edit box, It is still aligned at the top.
After increasing the height of the edit box the text and cursor are aligned at the top as shown in the below figure.
But Actually how I want is the text and the cursor position needs to be aligned centre as shown in the below figure.
Note: "EDITTEXT IDC_EDIT_BOX,10,73,156,14,ES_AUTOHSCROLL"
Can anyone please help me how can I make the text and the position of the cursor to be aligned vertically i.e, to the centre of the control.

If vertical alignment is not possible, then use an edit box without borders, having the default height, and place it inside a static control having
SS_WHITERECT style. (In MFC Dialog Editor, set the Type and Colour properties). Both of controls will be children of dialog. Use a proper tab order. Check if the style

Problem with giving an edit box focus in sbo2005

Hi
I have created a form in sbo2005 with screen painter.
I ideally want one of the edit boxes to have focus, ie have the cursor in that box. I have included a command -
oform.Items("1").Click ct_Regular
But this doesn't seem to work. The cursor flashes briefly and then disappears.
Can anyone suggest anything please ?

In SBO 2005, you can set the tab-order of the items, the item with the lowest tab order should get the initial focus.
