Odd values in SDK Export for Zynq with LPDDR2

Hi all!
We are adapting our Zynq design for LPDDR2 and one of our more observant SW engineers found a number of peculiarities in the ps7_init.c generated from XPS.
The memory part we intend to use is the Micron MT42L16M32D1-25, a 64 Mbyte 800Mb/s device with 4 banks of 4Mwords by 32 bits. As this is not pre-programmed in XPS, I used the MT42L64M32D1KL-25 as a base for a Custom Memory Part  and altered the following parameters:
DRAM Device Capacity 2048 MBits -> 512 MBits
Bank Address Count 3 -> 2
Row Address Count 14 -> 13
…leaving everything else untouched. Effective DRAM Bus Width is 32 bits, Burst Length is set to 8 and Operating Freq (MHz) is 400.
The following registers initializations seem odd:
0XF8006004[11:0] = 0x00000061U
Average time between refreshes. This value computes to 6.2 us, 7.8 us should be OK according to the SDRAM data sheet. The value is on the safe side, so no big deal.
20140313: 2.5 [ns] * 32 * 0x61 = 7.76 [us]. The value is correct, my bad!
0XF8006018[4:0] = 0x0000000DU
Should be set to WL + BL/2 + tWR + 1 for LPDDR2, it looks like it is set to WL + BL/2 + tWR which is consistent for DDR2 or DDR3.
20140313: WL + BL/2 + tWR + 1 = 3 + 8/2 + RU(15/2.5) + 1 = 3 + 4 + 6 + 1 = 14  (0xE), am I wrong here? (RU = Round Up)
0XF8006018[31:28] = 0x00000007U
Should be set to the larger of tCKE or tCKESR or LPDDR2, or 15 ns. The value gives 17.5 ns, one clock cycle extra. The value is on the safe side, so no big deal.
0XF800601C[14:10] = 0x0000000AU
Should be set to WL + tWTR + BL/2 + 1 for LPDDR2, it looks like it is set to WL + tWTR + BL/2 which is consistent for DDR2 or DDR3.
 20140313: WL + tWTR + BL/2 + 1 = 3 + 7.5/2.5 + 8/2 + 1 = 11 (0xB), am I wrong here?
0XF800601C[31:28] = 0x00000007U
tRCD - AL. AL = Additive Latency doesn’t seem to be defined for LPDDR2, but the default value (0x8) maybe still should be there?
0XF8006030[31:16] = 0x00000003U
Value loaded into MR2 register, defining RL and WL. Should be RL6/WL3 -> 0100b, this value would give RL5/WL2.
20140313: Waiting for feedback on the WebCase.
0XF80060A4[31:22] = 0x00000040U
Number of cycles of NOP required after a ZQCS. tZQCS is 90 ns, so 0x24 should do, 0x40 is in excess.
Some of these may not have any adverse effects, but some seem like honest bugs. Question is, how well proven is the generated code from XPS? Should we go through every line with a fine-tooth comb or is there a fair chance that the device will operate once we get our new hardware? I haven't found any info on the forum and have filed a WebCase, but I thought I'd pop the question here as well. What is your experience?
The Zynq is a XC7Z020-1-CLG400. We are using ISE 14.7 running on a PC with 64-bit Windows-7.
Thanks!
/Lars
20140313: I have added some comments from the outcome of the WebCase, marked in maroon.

Hi again!
Does anyone beside us even use LPDDR2? It makes me wonder when the SW guys reported sporadic write errors and after spending a lot of time and numerous phone conferences with Xilinx tracking down signal integrity issues, we finally got to speak to a Xilinx expert in the US and he identified that the SDK export from XPS had omitted setting some of the essential control registers in the SDRAM controller, causing the drive strengths and slew rates on the data bus to be way off.
So users beware: If you still used ISE/XPS for Zynq development, you can't expect LPDDR2 to work.
Cheers!

  • FCP export for ATV with chapters

Hi, I have about an hour of PAL DV edited content in FCP 6, with about 10 chapter points. I've created my DVD and now I want to keep a copy for Apple TV with chapter points included. Can anyone advise which way to do this, as I've tried some options using QT export/convert and Compressor etc. but all unsatisfactory. When I get a good quality ATV export it doesn't have the chapters included. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
    Chris

Yes, I can see them ok and have managed to export in various formats with them intact. My problem is more to do with knowing the right settings/codec to export for Apple TV but with the chapters in there still. I've got good looking ATV compliant exports, and I've got various formats with the chapters in, but not both. It would seem like a really basic thing to want to do, but seems really elusive (unless I'm being dumb!). I actually started out in iMovie as it's a family video and pretty basic edits etc. but iMovie can't do this either
    Thanks, chris

  • Export for iPhone with crop?

I did searchs for iPhone AND crop and iPod AND crop, but nothing came up, so...
Is it possible to use QT to export to iPhone with a custom crop? I'm starting with 1280x720 HD video from a Flip MinoHD. I would like to end up with something in a 3:2 ratio like 480x320 (either cropped to 1080x720 and then scaled or scaled then cropped to 3:2).
I can do this crop if I export to MPEG-4 and it works great. This export option, however, comes out as mp4, instead of m4v and doesn't work on the iPhone.
Any way to do this QT?
    How about QT Pro?
    Thanks!

Do you have any idea if I'm doing something wrong? Here's an excerpt from my email to the author (I didn't mention cropping as to simplify my question/bug report)
Since you did not describe your actual "crop" work flow for MPEG Stramclip I suspect that is where your problem lies. Basically you are going from a 1.78:1 to a 1.50:1 aspect ration. Therefore your will have to crop the left-right edges and not the top-bottom. Since you indicate want to end up with a 480x320 viewing area, try the following:
    1) Select either of the iPhone presets. Since you will have to customize the dimensions, as well as, crop the file, it doesn't matter which preset you choose.
    2) Back in the main MPEG-4 export window, re-set the "Other" dimensions to 569x320. What you are in effect doing is setting the target height of the output you want and adjusting the width to the nearest pixel for a 16:9 aspect ratio to match your source file and, thus, minimize any distortion.
    3) Set output audio and/or video rates as desired (I normally use 1000 or 1200 Kbps for video and 128 Kbps @ 44.1 KHz for audio) and make any adjustments to brightness, contrast, saturation, volumes, etc. if desired.
    4) Now activate the "Cropping" tool by "ticking" the correct box and leave the option in the "Destination" mode.
    5) Now enter your left-right crop settings. These setting must total 89 pixels to be subtracted from the 569 scaled pixel width which will leave you with your specified 480x320 viewing area. How much you decide to crop from the left and right sides is up to you but must total 89 pixels. Thus you can keep the center area or chose to offset the viewing area as best suits your needs.
    6) Now preview the content to be sure it is exactly what you want and if/when satisfied, select the "Make MP4" button to set up and begin your export.

  • Poor quality Export for HD with moving objects

When I export from iMovie6 any moving image is very poor quality. I am using a Sony HDR-HC1 and trying to export at the highest possible settings.
When the image is still the quality is very good, but if anything moves the image goes "wobbly" and "jigsaw" like. Panning shots are hopeless and anyone walking in the shot goes wobbly.
The original capture image seems fine, so I assume it is an exporting problem. Exporting at lower setting, ie for an iPod, the image is great.
I have tried all different setting, some are better than others.
    Can anyone help?

Your description of the problem - a 'comb' effect - sounds as if the "fields" which make up the resultant picture have been put together in reverse.
(..You don't normally see 'interlaced' video in iMovie's playback window - you normally see just a single field of the two, to make the picture clearer and simpler to display..)
[..A video picture's generally made up of two "fields" which each comprise half the number of lines down the screen: one field comprises the odd-numbered lines, and the other the even-numbered ones. Your exported video should be encoded with the lower (2nd) field first ..as described in this Apple document ..and the problem's mentioned here as well..]
However ..you said in your first post that "..I am using a Sony HDR-HC1 and trying to export at the highest possible settings.."
This is an HDV camcorder, and you didn't say if the original footage which you shot was HDV or normal DV. (HDV is recorded differently from normal DV, as it's recorded in a more compressed format, and it has to be automatically 'unscrambled' by Apple's Intermediate Codec while you're importing it into iMovie HD.)
It seems as if somewhere along the chain of importing>editing>exporting, the fields are being reversed, so that you get this jumpiness on replay when QuickTime tries to deliver a "highest quality" interleaved replay of both fields:
Ah ..sudden thought: you mentioned that you exported thro' iDVD: "..I have used iDVD by dropping it into a DVD theme and it seems to work ok, although the playback is a little jumpy, not quite as good I would have expected.."
You may have left the iDVD settings at their default 'NTSC' instead of switching them to PAL.
Check your iDVD Preferences ..that may be the problem.

  • No Method of Batch Export for Clips with Alpha Channels?

    Good morning,
As many a flustered editor has eventually discovered, in order for FCP to export sequences with alpha channels to a 32-bit format, the timeline has to be un-rendered at the time of export, or else the transparent parts will appear black in the outputted file. This sort-of makes sense if you know how FCP and render files work, but in a perfect world I think I'd have designed the export interface a bit differently. Now that I think about it, I'm actually working in an Animation (Millions of Colors +) sequence, so converting transparent areas to black makes no logical sense at all.
Anyway, I have several sequences that I would like to export as 32-bit TGA QuickTime files, preserving their transparency. If I Export Using Compressor, the process results in pre-rendering of the sequence, turning the transparent areas black. The same problem occurs if I export QuickTime reference movies from FCP and open them directly with Compressor.
Does anyone know of a way to avoid this silly phenomenon or am I stuck individually exporting each sequence from FCP, one...at.......a................time?
    Thanks,
    Zap

Thanks, Andy, "Batch Export" eventually did the trick!
I forgot about that tool because I've never actually had to use it before! After playing around with it for a while, I found that as long as the sequence settings for each sequence in the batch are set to a codec with an activated alpha channel, it works just fine.
    Thanks again,
    Zap

  • Export for DVD with Animation codec without alphas channels not working?

I'm using FCP 5 with DVDSP. My FCP projects consist of quicktime movies that are using the Animation compressor (for lossless quality), and the movies contain alpha channels (thus they were rendered at Millions + colors to preserve the alphas).
This is my problem. I want to now export a quicktime movie to use in DVDSP with animation compression, so it is again lossless quality (obviously to presever the quality through these steps). But I do NOT want to preserve the alpha channels, because what I've learned is that when made into a DVD, the alphas are not preserved and the image looks wrong (as if without the alphas).
So I basically want to "flatten" the video, if there was some way.
I would assume the solution would be to, in FCP, export a quicktime at animation compression, but set to Millions for colors, and not Millions + (I was taught that the Millions + will preserve the alpha info).
Well, what's happening is when I set it to that, it renders, but then I get info on the movie in Quicktime and it says it has Millions + still. And thus, it looks wrong in DVDSP.
What is going on? Is this a bug in FCP?
Does anyone have an idea as to how to get around this. The only thing that has worked for me is to export the Quicktime movie with "none" for compression, but that's making the movie SO large that I can't work with it and it doesn't play right when I make the DVD.
I really appreciate anyones help on the matter. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions. I have not yet tried laying a solid black video track underneath to see what it does, but it seems like a good idea and I'll try it out to see what happens when I get back home.
I'll try to explain what I mean by the image looking wrong.
I'm picking up where another left off, so I'm not sure of how he cut the quicktime movie together; all I know is that they used alpha channels in Photoshop and After Effects to make the image looks the way they want it. This is a drawn character laid on a white background with a black frame around the entire image. It looks the way he wants it to in the quicktime movie, and this quicktime movie is 720x480, animation millions colors +, 24fps.
This movie, along with others of the like, need to be cut together in FCP and then put on a DVD with DVDSP. When I export it and it looks "wrong", what's happening is there is a black block behind the drawn character. The guy that made the movies in AE says that, that is what it looks like when the alpha channel is not working correctly.
To test things, I've changed the quicktime compression settings in the sequence settings. If I set it to anything that is not animation, I get that black block in the viewer. (Note though, that if I set it to animation, millions + or not +, it shows the alpha correctly both ways).
In FCP's user manual it says that if you're passing your movie on to a DVD, to use a high or lossless compression to keep the quality up, like animation or PhotoJPEG. For this reason, I haven't wanted to go to DV - especially with this type of image (graphic drawn shapes), it's easy to see a quality difference.
It really seems like there is a lot of voodoo involved with compression settings. As for now the best "fool-proof" solution I've found is to re-render the movie in After Effects at millions (not+) so that it won't contain the alpha channel info, and FCP seems to like that a lot more.
I just wish I could get FCP to work with the movies as they were because I'm having to re-edit everything to work with these new movies now.
Thanks again for the tips and insight.

    Hi!
I want to use the InterAppAudioHost example as host and then use a drumkit app as node.
Unfortunately I haven’t found any Drum Kit App that supports IAA and can be used as a node. I only find big drum kit apps, like GarageBand that works as a host.
Do you know any good Drum Kit app that support InterAppAudio and work as a node?

  • Quicktime export for web with Rapidweaver

    Hi everyone,
I am here as a last resort in trying to get an answer to this problem that I have with understanding how to do this.As we know quicktime creates 3 video file for us to cater for different speed conection over the internet. Great. I have published my movie files on my Siteground server and I can play the ref/movie there with no problems. Great. Now in RW where would I put the code created by quicktime for the 'head' of the page and for the 'body' of the page??? I am having all sort of confusion issue as to what to do. I have contacted the RW team but they wont support a third party app. the forum has nothing to say so I am here hoping that I will strike lucky with some of you.

  • Colored ALV to export for excel with the colors

    Friends,
Would they like to know how I can export a colored ALV for EXCEL, including the colors.
    Thanks

I shall divide the question into two parts
    a) <b>Export ALV report to Excel</b>
    b) <b>Retain colours of ALV in excel</b>
If you know how to do a), I guess I would just be waiting like you for some person to throw light on how to to <b>retain colours of ALV in Excel</b>.

  • Cleanest Export for video with subtitles

I have a few videos shot on DVCAM and captured at DV-NTSC. They have been subtitled within FCP with just an additional text layer. What would my best export method be? DV-NTSC or uncompressed 8bit? Best as in to have the cleanest text on the subtitles and the best looking DVCAM video.
    Thanks

Leave it DV at this point, but do look at them externally on a video monitor. DV titles can look pretty bad if they're not positioned just right. A move up or down a single line of video can make them look much better (or worse if they looked right to begin with... check it out...)

  • CS3 XDCam export for FCP

Currently running CS3 PP on PC.  Shooting xdcam that creates .mp4 files.  We have Matrox boards so editng in PP with 720p 60fps natively is no problem, no rendering with project settings set up properly.  Editing 2 to 3 and half minute features that need to be exported for use with FCP for broadcast in a production truck.  MOV files as quicktime makes the most sense, but what codec and how to create the best looking 720p HD feature while not giving the producer a huge file.  I've been told by him that a minute of HD video should be around 1 gig.  Do I need a third party (Sorenson, etc.) to create properly or use Adobe Media Encoder.  Or should I export as a movie.
Really looking forward to getting some opinions and help on this.  Thanks!
    Tom

You could ask the guys using FCP what codec(s) they like...thats your best bet.
My producer for this project is not the "easiest" to deal with if you get my drift so to speak, won't give simple answers or take the time to figure it out and move on, so I'm left to figure it out for him.  He's never wrong
you could try tests of small segments of your timeline ...using QT ( mov ) using jpeg 2000, animation ( RLE ? ) and UT YUL2 422 ( what renderer are you using for the project in premiere ? )..  these would make large files, probably have to deliver via external HD.
Trying to keep files size small, playing out of his mac book and outputing in the production truck
Basically fcp likes pro res 422 type stuff..I would ask those guys using FCP what would work best for them.
pro ress 422 is not a codec that cs3 pp has as an option.  I did watch the producer use streamclip third party converter to get it to play out and it looked great during last night's broadcast here in Florida.  I think he said export as apple dv/dvcpro - ntsc, 1280x720 (HDTV 720p) and that worked for him.  When I bring that file into my project storyboard it is 16x9 but not scaled to my project specs.
Thanks for your input, great to get my first reply in the forum!  Just recently joined after owning our system since Jan. 2009.

  • Import and/or export for actionscript without extention?

I have a project in which I need to import several hundered png images.
When I import them into the library, then select all the images, then view the properties, I Check the export for action script and the export in frame 1.
Now, all my images have class names that I can access though my code, however, it included the file extensions in the class names, thus making invalid class names.
Is there any way I can import and/or set class names so they do not include the file extensions without having to do it manually for EVERY file?

My actual project has something like 9200 images in it.
if  my main project, let's call it "main.fla", was to contain every one of  those images, every time I tried to run or debug it, it would take  FOREVER to compile... as a work around that I discovered in a previous  project was to put all my graphics and media into an swc file. (Let's  call it MyLibrary.swc)
While I was trying to get the  swc working, I discovered that while my media in the swc was indeed  setup to be exported for actionscript with unquie classes and  everything, when I compiled and built my project, I could not get any of  those media elements using the getDefinitionByName function.
After alot of reading and trail and error I found that the only way to get it to work was to have someplace in my code, an actual reference to the objects that I was trying to get with getDefinitionByName. It turned out, that without instantiating the object in the code, the compiler was omitting it.
Now, but instantiate, I mean doing this:
    var bm:BitmapData = new MyImage();
Where MyImage.png is in my swc and has a class defined as "MyImage"
Once I do that, then I can do this
    var classRef:Class = Class(  getDefinitionByName("MyImage")  );
But without that line above SOMEWHERE in my code (even if it's not actually executed), the getDefinitionByName returns an error saying it can't find the class.
    Now, here's the problem.
When I import all my images into my swc library they get named with the file extention... "MyImage.png" and when I select all the images that Imported and batch set the export for actionscript, they get automatically assigned a class name equal to their library name, so the class name is "MyImage.png"
so if I wanted to use getDefinitionByName to access the class, I would need to instantiate it in my code by doing this:
    var bm:BitmapData = new MyImage.png();
BUT, that is erronous as the period causes an error and the adobe docs says right in it that class names can't use periods or any other non-alphanumeric character.
So while the getDefinitionByName function DOES actually work with classes with periods in them, because my media is external of the main.fla, I can't load it unless it's instantiated first, which leaves me right back where I was.... having to to manually rename over 9000 classes manually one at a time.
I did some searching and found the "Flash Library Renamer" extension, but it requires me changing all my class names to be sequenial, which the vast majority is not.
Is there a way that I can import the files into the library and have it omit the file extension?
if not, is there a way that I can set the class names in a batch and not have it use the file extentions?
if not, is there an Flash Extention or plug in that will allow batch renaming using regular expression or wildcards?

  • Export to Excel with Filter values

I have implemented Prakash Darji's Exporting tips.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/47fe4fef-0d01-0010-6f87-ed8ecb479123
But it very important for us to only allow the user to only export the data which is available on the table currently, basically export to excel WITH filters and not everything which is in the infoprovider.
does anyone have a way of achieveing this?
i was thinking of maybe somehow passing filter values in the PCD url
Something like this?  would this work.....
    pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex.QUERY=ZTESTQUERY&FILTER_IOBJNM=0CALDAY&FILTER_VALUE='01012009'&BI_COMMAND_1BI_COMMAND_TYPE=EXPORT&BI_COMMAND_1-EXPORT_FORMAT=XLS&BI_COMMAND_1-null=

    Hi Apeksha,
you can achieve this requirement (unless I do not know the detailled requirement) perhaps by using this way of implementation:
    1. Create a new template which contains an info_field which does a data binding to the variable values or the characteristic you want to display. Set the visibility of the top container to "hidden". Add a empty data provider to this template. However be aware that the name for the (empty) data provider must match the name of the data provider within the original template you want to print.
    2. Open your original template and include the template you created in step 1 (Advanced: Web Templates and technical name of the web template created in step 2). Choose the appropriate location (above/below the analysis item).
    3. Check the settings of your export command: do not set a special web item to be printed.
If you export the template within web the second template should be printed correctly displaying the variable settings chosen in step 2 for the info_field.

If you had a hypothetical case where your InDesign document's assigned CMYK profile and intended output was ISOcoated_v2_300_eci and you recieved grayscales for placement with different gray profiles assigned, I think you would have to make the conversion in Photoshop if you want the grayscales to be converted to your ISOcoated_v2_300_eci output intent space.
So in this case I have a grayscale image with Dot Gain 10% assigned and you can see the 50% patch is reading as 50% in Info panel:
If set my Working Gray space to the ISO Coated profile as above and do a Convert to Profile with the Destination set to Working Gray:
The preview doesn't change but I get converted gray values—50% is now 44%:
If I place the grayscale in an InDesign doc with ISOcoated_v2_300_eci assigned as the CMYK profile, the preview won't change (you have to turn on Overprint /Sep Preview), and the converted numbers will show in Separation Preview. The preview and numbers will also be unchanged in Acrobat if you export to default PDF/X-4

  • Flash IDE not compiling movieclips with "export for actionscript"

I'm having a really odd problem with Flash CS5 where I'm getting random compiling errors for movie clips that are exported for actionscript. These are simple graphics that will be created at runtime. Nothing special.
When I first open the project it gives errors for all the symbols in the project, but if I open and save the settings dialog the errors go away. Sometimes I have to go into individual symbols and check/uncheck the "export for actionscript" box. This is a AS2/Flashlite project.
Anyone else having these errors? I tried to "save as" the project and clean the ASO cache. No luck.
Here's an example of the error:
Symbol=movieBkgrdSmall, layer=Layer 1, frame=1, Line 1    The class or interface 'movieBkgrdSmall' could not be loaded.

cs5 will scan the current directory and all subdirectories for class files.  sometimes you can have a name conflict and not realize it and that can cause substantial problems.
when desperate, create a new directory with no subs, save your current project there (with a new name).
