Odi Variable with dynamical refreshing(Solved)

Hi,
I have a ODI variable used in 3 packages. This variable get number of records of the table, but table changes. Example:
if package A Variable refreshing with select count(1) from TABLE_SYS
if package B Variable refreshing with select count(1) from TABLE_DEM
if package C Variable refreshing with select count(1) from TABLE_BOL
I do not want create 3 variables, I want to use only one. Its possible?

I use java tags in the refreshing variable:

Creating character variable with dynamic length

Hello Experts,
I need to send contents of an internal table via FTP in character mode,
the entire contents of a internal table is concatenated in a string(v_string) which needs to be moved to the character variable of same size say l_count = strlen( v_string ).
can anyone help me to define the character variable say of length l_count.
I have already tried creating a dynamic character variable using CREATE DATA.
eg DATA: dref TYPE REF TO DATA.
CREATE DATA dref TYPE c LENGTH l_count.
but this is not working.

Reason i need character variable of dynamic length is because the requirement is to send data to client's Windows terminal . We already have FTP code in place and suddenly client has asked to send us data of an internal table in a single line.
I have concatenated the entire table into a string and then thought of moving the entire data from string to that character.. as the size in character goes beyond 60000 characters in many cases....
It seems this is not possible as the string cannot be converted to the data type of variable newly declared.

Calling variables with dynamic names

so lets say theres 5 variables,
name1 = "james";
name2 = "billy";
name3 = "nilly";
name4 = "dilly";
name5 = "alfred";
is there any way to enumerate through those names by doing something like this...
for(i=1;i<6;i++){
System.out.println(["name"+i]) // where ["name"+i] uses variable name1, name2, name3 etc...
ending up with something like
james
billy
nilly
dilly
alfred
i know its possible to do it in some other programming languages, and if java can do it too, it'd be very useful to me.

woops - noticed I was in New To Java...
You can search for this, the question came up quite a bit some time back.
Use an implementation of Map (like HashMap) and call the put method with the name you want as a key and the value as a value. You can then call get with the name to get the value, or you can iterate over the key set to do what you're after.
Or, you could create a "Name" array (or List) and the you get "name0", let's say, by saying "name[0]" or nameList.get(0).

Refreshing ODI Variable through startscen.bat

I am trying to refresh an ODI variable using startscen.bat Batch file.. I need be sending the variable value through cmd so that ODI variable gets refreshed with input value..

Let me explain my scenerio:
I have a variable defined in ODI as "SCEN_TEST" This variable needs to be refreshed from a csv file present on a my local machine.
Say the csv file has a single column and multiple rows in it:
CSV File:
TEST1
TEST2
TEST3
I have created a batch file ..
I have a CMD command in batch file which creates a for loop which will pick up each row from the csv file.
When the for loop starts in cmd it will pick up TEST1 on its first run , TEST2 on its second etc..
So i need to refresh the ODI variable with TEST1 during first instance , TEST2 during second run etc.
So i am calling the scenerio of the variable using startscen.bat <<scen_name>> <<version>> <<context>>
Now my problem is i need to refresh the ODI variable by the value "TEST1" "TEST2" during consecutive runs..
(Note : I am not inputting the variable value using startscen.bat but i need to refresh the ODI variable by calling variable scenerio)

For me first part is working fine where as in second part i made canvas looks like

ODI is complaning it cannot locate the file. Try replacing the '/' character with a '\' after file in the designated filepath.

Problem with variables in dynamic SQL/PLSQL

Hi, I have a problem I am trying to solve using a very short piece of dynamic SQL/PLSQL but I am having problems getting the variable values out of the dynamic block.
I need to increment a counter which could be any one of 16 counters I am using and I want to avoid using nested IF statements.
The variable to be incremented is made up of the 'scheme', the 'contributory category' and the 'employment category' (although not every combination is valid)
The 'scheme' can be either 'no1', 'no2', 'off', 'cg' or 'amc'
The 'contributory category' can be either 'cont' or 'noncont'
The 'employment category' can be either 'ft' or 'pt'
For example the total variable name could be 'v_cg_noncont_ft_count'
I have created a variable by concatenating the various elements called v_incr_count_name which holds the name of the variable I want to increment.
I am running this within an anonymous PLSQL block so I cannot use global variables meaning that my variables are not visible within a dynamic PLSQL block.
As a result I think I will need to use bind variables with a PLSQL block or a SELECT FROM INTO SQL string
I have tried various solutions including the following PLSQL solution:
v_incr_count_name := 'v_'||v_scheme||'_'||v_cont_cat||'_'||v_emp_cat||'_count';
sql_stmt := 'BEGIN :a := :a + 1; END;';
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sql_stmt USING v_incr_count_name;
Unfortunately I am getting the 'IN bind variable bound to an OUT position' error which I suppose makes sense as I am trying to change the value of a variable in the main PLSQL block from within the dynamic block.
Another (SQL) solution I tried was:
v_incr_count_name := 'v_'||v_scheme||'_'||v_cont_cat||'_'||v_emp_cat||'_count';
sql_stmt := 'SELECT '||v_incr_count_name||' + 1 FROM DUAL';
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sql_stmt INTO v_return;
While this executes and returns the incremented value into v_return, I am still left unable to copy the returned value into the variable whose name is stored in v_incr_count_name

ODI: Variable refresh via Jython?

I have a very little question, I hope.....
I use the first time project variables with a SQL-Statement for refreshing...
But, how I can refresh this variable via Jython? Even I want to access it says, that no value exists.
IF I refresh manualy it works fine.
How can I init this explicit via Jython?

Did you try running the sqlldr command on the shell using the same control file ?
I guess it will work fine.
This is an ODI bug 8560194 due to which even if a single record errors out in sqlldr, the ODI signals an error despite the fact that LOA_ERRORS > 0

IMPORT statement with dynamic variable

Im trying IMPORT variable contents from a cluster table VARI. I can do a IMPORT without issues when I use exact name of the variable but I have issues with dynamic variable selection. Pls see code below.

IMPORT <fs> to tmp_var from database vari(va) id st_key.
endloop.
I do not get any value to tmp_var. Need help!

File-adapter with Dynamic Directory/Filenames in Header-variables

Hi,
I have looked through the file-adapter documentation. And it says that you can use wildcards/regexpressions/dynamic file and directory names using the file-adapter-wizard. Also you can use the header-variables to specify the file and directory names at run-time.
Is it also possible to use the dynamic names using the header-variables?
I want to create a process that I can give in the file/directory-names at run-time and that it will look for a file using the wild-cards to pickup. Since at run-time I often do not know the name of the file, since it might contain a sequence or date/time-stamp. But I do know the location and the structure of the file name (that is specified at config-time).
The same question for outbound: if I specify a name in the header-variables with forexample '%seq%' in the name, like 'filename_%seq%.XML', will it then create the file with the sequence?

I've been trhough this document over and over again, but did not find anything on how to do it actually. But I found out that the file-outbound-header wsdl does not contain a directory element after generation by the wizard. But you can add it afterwards.
Also you can replace the location attribute in the jca:address element of the adapter-wsdl by mcf properties (host, username, password) and override them by copying the values to the partnerlink using bpelx:properties.

I need to generate a report with varying column names (state names) as follows:
SELECT AK, AL, AR,... FROM States ;
I get these column names from the result of another query.
In order to clarify my question, Please consider following table:

The TIME_PERIODS.Period and State.Name could change dynamically.
So I can't specify the state name in Select query like

Dynamic Repository Variables are not Refreshing in OBIEE 11.1.1.6

Hi Experts,
As of sudden the dynamic repository variables are not refreshing.
The same rpd is working fine in Test Environment.
If any change in the query of initialization block, it is fetching old result.
Even after refreshing in Analytics page, still it is showing old value.
Please help me in regarding this.

I'm having a little problem.
I have textfile with a single line of text. What I want to do is set a variable with that line of text. How do I go about doing that?
A simple var="text" wont work in this case, since the text in the file changes with another script of mine.

if you have a file with more than one line but you only want the first line you could use 'head'
VAR=`head -n 1 file`

Dynamic initialize a PF variable with the PF name

I define a variable in a PF.
I want initialize this variable with the name of the process flow.
For example, if I created a ProcessFlow called "PF1", my variable must be dinamically set to "PF1" when the PF start.

Hi,
You need to write some PL/SQL that looks at the activity that is running (using the actid parameter) then link to the process activities to find out the process details.
Then use the standard API to set the attribute to the value retrieved.

[SOLVED] Change environment variables with Shell scripts

How can I change the "BROWSER" environment variable with a shell script; so I can change it on the fly?

If you just want to do it for BROWSER so that you can change your default web browser on the fly, you could set BROWSER to e.g. ~/bin/mybrowser and create a symlink to the browser you want at ~/bin/mybrowser. Then you could change the symlink at will.
