OEDQ invoking external web service

Hello:
Does OEDQ have the capability of doing one of the following:
1. Pushing data to an external application? (Ie: Pushing data to SOA application)
2. Invoking an external web service (WSDL) by an external application? (Ie: Invoking a SOA WSDL)
Thank you.

Yes, both of these can be done.
EDQ's export capabilities can be summarized as follows:
- Export to pretty much any kind of file, including (but not limited to) delimited text files, fixed width text files, XML (in virtually any format), Excel files, binary files etc.
- Export to pretty much any kind of database (Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, DB2, DB2 for iSeries, Access, MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.)
- Write to a message queue via JMS
- Respond to a web service request
EDQ does not normally call update APIs directly, though it can be made to do so.
Web services can be called in the middle of an EDQ process where required - examples where this has been done include calling a Dun and Bradstreet web service to enhance company data, and calling e-business suite web services.

Mike

  • Unexpected element name: expected error while invoking external web service

    Hi,
    In JDeveloper when I invoke external web service call, I am getting following exception
    "unexpected element name: expected=..."
    But the same application works fine in .NET. Can someone help me as to why I am getting the exception only in JDeveloper and how to fix this exception.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Without more information, it will be hard to help, and tell you what could be teh issue.
    Usually, this kind of error occurs when the payload and the WSDL schema are out of sync, for example if the order of the element on the wire do not match the order in a sequence declaration, you may get this error.
    In such case, .NET handle the XML as if it was a 'all' -- no specific order -- and deserialize the message properly.
    Hope this helps,
    -eric

  • Error in Invoking External Web Service in BPEL

    Hello,
    I have a Temperature Conversion Web Service deployed on an external server.
    I want to invoke this Web Service in my BPEL process.
    I got the wsdl loacation of the Web Service as "http://webservices.daelab.net/temperatureconversions/TemperatureConversions.wso?WSDL" and then in my workspace, I created a Web Service out of that WSDL.
    My idea was to create a web service out of that WSDL and then to deploy that web service on SOA server so that i can invoke that deployed service in my BPEL process, but when i am creating a web service out of that WSDL , and trying to test the webservice in my local oc4j, i am gettting a fault exception.
    Am i doing anything wrong ? Is there any other alternative to call a external web service in BPEL?
    Thanks
    Nutan

    Hi,
    you are on the wrong track....
    Open your BPEL. Put the http://webservices.daelab.net/temperatureconversions/TemperatureConversions.wso?WSDL into a PartnerLink and wire an invoke against this PartnerLink....
    Put the parameters via assign into the variables.
    Done...
    Why do you want to create an interal webservice and invoke this one via BPEL? Do you want to invoke the external webservice from the internal one?

  • Invoking an external web service through a JCD with Basic Authentication

    Group,
    I am trying to invoke an external web service (written in ASP.Net) from a jcd (5.1.2). The web service is guarded by Basic Authentication. I have entered the crudentials into the External Web service environment component and deployed the project. I receive the following error from the .invoke() method:
    request requires HTTP authentication: Unauthorized
    I have tried the same request through SoapUI using the same crudentials and get back the response correctly. Has anyone tried invoking an external web service with basic authentication through a jcd in 5.1.2 before?
    One other item of note. I have another jcd calling a different external web service deployed on the same domain. I hope that this isn't interfering with the execution of this service as it doesn't require any crudentials to execute.

    Hey Chris.
    I am just starting to write a jcd that calls an external web service but cannot find any sample code nor instructions on how to do it in the supplied documentation. Could you send me a code sample from your one?
    Cheers
    Matt

    1. consumed a external web service into IR as external definition
    2. created message types similar to this external definition message types.
    3. Created Inbound interface(for external service) and outbound interface from my system.
    4. Created the operation mapping & message mapping between this 2 messages.
    So in the integration directory , i didnt start with the process. So kindly help me in this process.

  • Configuring WLS to invoke a web service on SSL

    Hi,
    It will be really helpful if I get some pointers on this. Stuck with this without any progress. I havent experimented too much working with Certificates and so on...
    I have a web service on my WLS...This has to invoke an external web service (provided by a third party).
    They have given me a url for WSDL.
    .p12 certificate - privateKeyEntry
    .cer certificate - trustCertEntry
    In my browser(IE), to display the WSDL page, I had to import this .p12 certificate in the "Personal" tab and .cer certificate in the "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" tab. It works !! I can see the WSDL.
    Now I have to do a equivalent setting in WLS so that my WS invokes the external WS. I can test this with the Weblogic Test Client for my WS.
    This is what I thought I had to do.
    Configure Custom Identity and Custom Trust in WLS.
    Custom Identity - directly used the .p12 file and specified type as PCKS12 with a password. That seems OK.
    Custom Trust - Since I didnt think I could use .cer file, I imported this certificate into .jks file using the below command
    keytool -import -trustcacerts -alias mykey -keystore mytrust.jks -file TestRootCert.cer -keyalg RSA
    configured this .jks file as a custom truststore.
    In the SSL tab, specified the alias name that existed in the PrivateKeyEntry(.p12 file) assuming this is used to identify myself to the external WS.
    Set -Dssl.debug=true -Dweblogic.StdoutDebugEnabled=true in the WLS startup file just to see some more additional info.
    When I invoke the external WS using the WLS test client, this is how the output on console looks..(sorry, had to edit some stuff related to company names etc.)

    If I understood rite, the external server is sending some certificates which is not there in the WLS trust store. Is this correct?
    Also tried to get these certificates into the truststore using the InstallCert.java utility class, but then I get a 403:Forbidden.
    So I have no clue at the moment. Basically, my WLS acts as a client to the external WS rite? so this is a one-way SSL. IS that correct?
    Can you help with some pointers please?
    best regards,
    Murali

    Hi,
    I just noticed this post and it seems that I had the same problem ( [see the relevant topic|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5378686] ) -- it is now answered.
    Simply follow the instructions on [this page|http://java.sun.com/developer/EJTechTips/2006/tt0527.html#1] - note that the answer was provided by Miroslav777.

  • Deliver data to external web service possible in OBIEE 11g?

    Hi all,
    I'm looking into the possibility of "pushing" data from OBIEE and out to an external web service, e.g. through executing a scheduled report that instead of delivering the result on screen, it would call an external web service that would consume the generated data for storage in an external system.
    Does anyone know if this is possible to implement in OBIEE 11g? (So far, all I've found is how to display data in OBIEE through consumation of web service(s), but I'd like to "push out" data to a web service from OBIEE).

  • Invoking a web-service through Aqualogic BPM

    I have seen some posts regarding integration of web-services with BPM but could not solve my problem (as I am very new to BPM, just 2 days old :) ).
    I am trying to integrate with the weather web-service whose WSDL is available at http://wsrp.bea.com/portal/boulder/weather.wsdl
    This is what I did
    1. Created a module in the Catalog
    2. Right-clicked on the created module, Catalogue Component -> Web Service and provided the WSDL
    3. Introspection was done and the External Resoures folder was also populated automatically.
    4. I then created a global activity for invoking this web-service.
    But the problem that I am facing is that what method should I write for the global activity that I have created so that the web-service can be invoked.
    Please reply
    Thanks.

    You just need to call the Web service exposed method from the global activity.
    if your module name is WS. The name of the webservice you catalogued is Weather. The service name which you can see when you expand the Weather. Then you will be able to view the exposed method.
    WS.Weather.WeatherService.getWeather

  • How to invoke a web service asynchronously using ws-addressing model?

    Hi Gurus,
    We are invoking an external web service asynchronously using Oracle Work Flow Business events using the following mechanism -
    1)Created a web service invoker event to invoke the web service.
    2)Created a subscription that invokes the web service (provided the wsdl address, operation info).
    3)Defined a subscription parameter WFBES_CALLBACK_EVENT with value pointing to a recieve event.
    4)Created a receive event(parameter value for WFBES_CALLBACK_EVENT) and a subscription that directs the response to a custom PL/SQL function to process response.
    so far so good. We were able to invoke the web service and get and process the response.
    Problem: The external web service can take upto 10 hrs to process the request. A time out of 2 hrs is set on the server hosting the external web service. So when the external web service takes more than 2 hrs to process the request and it times out and we get the following error on EBS side -
    'l_error_message:oracle.apps.fnd.wf.bes.InvokerException: HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: oracle.j2ee.ws.saaj.ContentTypeException: Not a valid SOAP Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1'
    Now the external web service providers are suggesting that we are not calling their web service asynchronously and we should use ws-addressing model to do so.
    Is there a way to invoke this web service using ws-addressing model using business events or from PL/SQL or OA middle-tier?

    Bharat,
    You dont need a Business Event setup to invoke a BPEL process from PL/SQL unless you have a special case and you need to process the response from the BPEL process in a separate thread (or in background)..
    For a straight call to BPEL process from PL/SQL, here is a sample script -
    function "MYTEST0" return varchar2 AS
    soap_request varchar2(30000);
    soap_respond varchar2(30000);
    http_req utl_http.req;
    http_resp utl_http.resp;
    resp XMLType;
    i integer;
    helpStr varchar2(30000);
    BEGIN
    soap_request:= '<?xml version = ''1.0'' encoding = ''UTF-8''?>
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns:ns0="
    http://xmlns.oracle.com/TestWS">
    <env:Body>
    <ns0:TestWSProcessRequest>
    <ns0:input>abc</ns0:input>
    </ns0:TestWSProcessRequest>
    </env:Body>
    </env:Envelope>
    /* the BPEL process name is TestWS */
    http_req:= utl_http.begin_request
    ( 'http://hostname:7777/orabpel/default/TestWS/1.0'
    , 'POST'
    , 'HTTP/1.1'
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Type', 'text/xml');
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Length', length(soap_request));
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'SOAPAction', 'process');
    utl_http.write_text(http_req, soap_request);
    http_resp:= utl_http.get_response(http_req);
    utl_http.read_text(http_resp, soap_respond);
    utl_http.end_response(http_resp);
    resp:= XMLType.createXML(soap_respond);
    resp:= resp.extract('/soap:Envelope/soap:Body/child::node()',
    'xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"');
    helpStr := '';
    i:=0;
    loop
    helpStr := helpStr || substr(soap_respond,1+ i*255,250);
    i:= i+1;
    if i*250> length(soap_respond)
    then
    exit;

  • Invoke a Web Service - 401 Error - Authentication?

    I've been through the Integrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, attempting to setup Action Framework so we can use OBIEE to push data to Sharepoint 2011.
    I came across the article below and found it to be helpful in getting past the first hurdle which was identifying why the actionframeworkconfig.xml file was not being read properly.
    ActionFrameworkConfig.xml structure changed from 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6
    I am working in 11.1.1.6.
    The concern or question I have is I am attempting to access a WSDL from Sharepoint that does not allow annonymous access. I take the steps below and get the error 'HTTP connection error code is 401'.
    1) Choose under Create... 'Action' from within OBIEE 11g
    2) Pick 'Invoke a Web Service'
    3) In the WSDL URL field, populate it with the path for the Sharepoint WSDL.
    a. https://sharepointhost/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx?WSDL
    4) Choose 'Open'
    5) Receive error.
    So my question is, is there a way to control the authentication here?
    Thank you in advance.

    First you map your service .wsdl file in the external resources as a WebService.
    Create a module in your Catalog and right click >> Catalogue Component >> Web Service
    Then you call it like it was an object in your code...
    String result = MyService.returnMeAString();
    logMessage(result);

  • Consuming external Web Service in portal application:Error URL.getProtocol

    Hello!
    I implemented a portal application which consums a external Web Service with NWDS 7.2.
    The Webservice access works fine when I test it in a Java-Main Class.
    If I deploy the application in a portal then I get the error:
    java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method java.net.URL.getProtocol() of an object loaded from local variable 'tmpUrl'
    It seems that my service_client-class has the problem to call the wsdl if the application is in portal:
    static {
        java.net.URL url = null;
        try {
                   java.net.URL tmpUrl = SERVICEClient.class.getClassLoader().getResource
                  ("wsdl/com/sap/test/SERVICE.wsdl");
                  url = new java.net.URL(tmpUrl.getProtocol(), tmpUrl.getHost(), tmpUrl.getPort(), tmpUrl.getFile());
        } catch (java.net.MalformedURLException e) {
          e.printStackTrace();
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks, Thomas

    Hello Thomas,
    I got the same error. In my case I used an Enterprise Application Project for the developement of my Portal Service. The portal service itself was calling an external webservice.
    The reason in my case lies behind the generation of the EAR-File with the NetWeaver Developer Studio). Inside the generated EAR-File the WSDL-File was always missing. In consequence "
    java.net.URL tmpUrl = SERVICEClient.class.getClassLoader().getResource
                  ("wsdl/com/sap/test/SERVICE.wsdl");" is always "NULL".
    and "tmpUrl.getProtocol()" leads to the NullPointerException.
    So I copied my wsdl-folder / package with the wsdl-file inside the {application}.ear / {application}.war / WEB-INF / private / lib / {application}.jar and everything works fine:-)
    Regards
    Steffen
    PS: Today I found a better way without copying the wsdl-file into the EAR-File. I just didn't use the Enterprise Application Project for the developement of portal services anymore. If you look inside the generated EAR-File, you can see, that you can develop the portal service also by using a simple Dynamic Web Project wrapped by an Enterprise Application Project:-)
    (Rem.: Don't miss the portalapp.xml deployment descriptor).
    If you deploy the Enterprise Project the WSDL-File is always inside the generated EAR-File :-)

  • Issue with calling external web service with authentication details ...

    Hi,
         I am facing a deployment issue with Oracle ESB. I am trying to call an external Web Service with authentication from ESB SOAP Service. It is working fine with my local ESB version 10.1.3.3.0 Build PCBPEL_10.1.3.3.0_GENERIC_070615.0525; however it is getting an error at our development ESB version 10.1.3.3.1 Build PCBPEL_10.1.3.3.1_GENERIC_RELEASE.
         I am getting following error.

  • Exception obtained when invoking a web service generated with JDeveloper

    Hello,
    I tried to create a synchronous BPEL process that invokes synchronously a Java Web Service created with the JDeveloper. The web service is wrapped around a regular Java class. The new created BPEL process is successfully compiled and deployed on the server. But when I try to initiate a test instance of the process in the BPEL console, after I fill the input parameter for then process and push the "Post XML Message" button, I obtain the following error:
    Your test request generated the following exception/fault:
    BPEL Fault: {http://oracle.com/cde/util/Top300DAO.wsdl}org.apache.wsif.soap.fault{org.apache.wsif.soap.fault.object=java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect}
    I looked at flow and it throws the exception when it tries to invokes the web service generated with JDeveloper.
    Do you have any hints, ideas? Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
    I want to also say that the proxy settings for the BPEL server and designer are filled. I think that they are ok because I succeeded to start an instance of another process that calls synchronously an external Web Service.
    Regards,
    Marinel

    My guess is that this is caused by the WSDL of your service having an invalid service address. Can you please take a look at the WSDL of your service make sure that the location of the address is valid? (we have seen a couple of instances in the past where the generated url did not have the right port information).
    Update that WSDL, restart the BPEL server or from the BPEL console clear the WSDL cache and re-initiate your flow.
    Best,
    Edwin

  • External web service problem

    I am using CAPS 5.1.2 and I want to use an external webservice.
    Importing the external web service from URL or file goes fine.
    I decided to do this in a JCD and added the webservice as an OTD.
    Building and deployment of my project goes fine, but the server.log gives me the following SEVERE log message:

    I have validated the external web service with the "Web Service Definition Editor" and it validates OK.
    I am a little bit lost here and do not know where to start debugging this problem. Please help.
