Office 2007 with OSx

I am running Office 2007 with OSx.  I seem to have either a corrupted file or a virus.  About half the time when I go to save a Word document the wheel of death appears and doesn't stop.  I end up having to shut down and restart.  Anyone seen this?

I hope you mean Office 2008, as 2007 only runs under the Windows OS.
Have you tried repairing permissions? If Office is confused over the ownership of the volume to which you need to write, permission could be the problem.
You may need to reinstall Office from the original disk. As Office is not an Apple product, it may be more helpful to post in Microsoft's Office for Mac support communities:

    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later

I have an iMac (2007) with OSX 10.5.8 and I want to upgrade it to mountain lion. It tells me I must have OSX 10.6 or higher but it won't let me upgrade to that. Is it possible or do I have to buy another iMac? Love my iMac! I'll never have a PC again. Macs all the way.

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements

  • Does Office 2007 work with CVI automation

We've used Office with CVI with varying degrees of success over the years, typically to generate reports or to populate excel spreadsheets with measured data.
Now I'm running XP SP3 and Office 2007 with CVI 2009.
Office 2007 seems to be so significantly different from previos versions, I'm wondering if it's use is supported with CVI?
CVI 2009 still refers to "Excel2000.fp" for example, will it work with Excel 2007?  The help mentions that it will work with "Excel 2000 and later compatible versions".
In the past as I recall NI's position is "maybe, but if it doesn't, it's not our fault".
So I thought I'd ask and see what the experience has been.  I can install an older version of Office if need be.

FWIW, we have been using "excel2000.fp" for years (with a few thousand users) and it still seems fine for simple exporting of data to Excel 2007.
I think it all boils down to the Excel object model and whether there have been changes related to the functionality you wish to use.

  • Problem with Courier font since upgrading to Office 2007

    Hi everybody,
Since we upgraded to Office 2007, one of our Acrobat users (he is the only person in the firm really using Acrobat actually) has problems when exporting Word documents to PDF.
So he is using Word 2007 and Acrobat Pro 9 (included in the CS4), he is modifying documents that were created with earlier versions of Word and the problem he has is since he has upgraded to Office 2007 (he was already using Acrobat Pro 9 without problem with Word 2003), text in the Courier font is replaced by those rectangles like unknown characters :
So I would like to know what has changed in Word 2007 that makes it that the Courier font cannot be exported to a PDF (from what I read it is one of the standard fonts always included in PDF readers), if I can change some settings to fix it without modifying all the Word documents or at least get a warning when it is going to happen.
Indeed the user's biggest concern is that he doesn't even receive a warning that that specific font won't be output correctly so he might change only some text or images in the Word document and export it to PDF and he will still have to check the whole document to make sure there was no Courier text that didn't make it through.
P.S. He is using the Adobe PDF printer to do the export.
    Thanks.
    Jonathan V.

Actually, I have a bit more information to share :
In the PDF files created before upgrading to Office 2007 (with Word 2003), I can see that Courier - Type 1 - ANSI is partially embedded (I thought it was supposed to be one of the base/system fonts).
I tried to export one of the Word documents affected again, replacing part of the Courier text with the Courier New font to see if it would work, the text in Courier New is showing correctly while the text in Courier still shows as squares.
When I check the fonts in the PDF file, CourierNewPSMT - TrueType - ANSI, is embedded (not partially ??) and Courier - TrueType - ANSI is partially embedded.
So I don't understand why Courier was embedded as Type 1 (but it worked) and now it supposedly embeds a TrueType Courier font that doesn't seem to work.
Again, the major problem is that there is no warning that the font won't output correctly, so you have to check the whole document again or you might end up with some parts unreadable.

  • Is Oracle Drive 10.2.0.0.5 is certified with MS Office 2007?

    Hi,
I would like to know whether Oracle Drive 10.2.0.0.5 is certified with MS Office 2007. Also, please do provide reference to documentation available on
    Oracle Drive.
Using Office 2007 with Oracle Drive causes problems saving files. Saving a new file to ODrive using any Office 2007 application (i.e. Excel) returns error "There was a problem renaming Book1.xlsx. Error 2. The system cannot find the file specified". However, the file is saved correctly anyhow. The second thing we realized is, that, when working with Office 2007 on files several .tmp file are created. These files are sometimes not deleted after the application is closed leaving many such tmp files on ODrive. Furthermore it seems that often the file lock is not removed in Oracle.
    Please provide your valuable suggestions.
    Thanks in advance.

It looks like it's still not certified. I was just on Metalink yesterday, and it still lists Office 2003 as the latest version that's certified with ODrive.

  • Performance Problems Bex 7.0 and Office 2007 Workbooks

    Hi
we had a performance Problem with Bex 7.0 and Worksbooks in Office 2007.
The Workbooks are created with Office 2003 and runs with good performance but in Office 2007 the performance is inacceptable.
    E.g. open Workbook with Office 2003   --    30 seconds
open Workbook with Office 2007   --    15 minutes
We do everything what we find in SAP Notes, Whitepapers oder SDN Messages.
    For Example:
    - We installed all Excel Patches witch descriped in: Microsoft Excel 2007 &
    SAP Business Explorer Compatibility
    - We set the optimize X: RS_FRONTEND_INIT setting u2018ANA_USE_OPTIMIZE_STG = Xu2019
    - We open worksbooks in Office 2007 with the repair Flag.
    - We used Flag open in XLS format
But same Workbooks are extrem slow.
We try to create a new Workbook with Office 2007 and it runs with good performance.
But there are 500 Workbooks we didn`t wont to create all new.
    System Information:
    BW: 7.0 Netweaver 7.01 BI_CONT 7.05

    Hello Carsten,
    Try to use Workbook compression:
      -  Open the specific workbook in BEx Analyzer
      -  Open Workbook Settings dailog
      -  Check "Use Optimized Storage"
      -  Click on OK Button
      -  Save the workbook
But also, your front end tools are on a very old version.
I would like to recommend you to install the latest patch of SAPGUI 7.20 and Business Explore 7.20.
Front End Version 7.10 will be supported until April 2011.
But, if you want to continue using 7.10, update to latest patch:

  • T61 Windows Vista Ultimate and MS Office 2007

I have installed the above and MS Office is closing often with error message suggesting to use diagnosis. How to fix this problem.

I would use the repair feature in the "Add or Remove Programs" utility in the control panel.
I would also make sure that you upgrade your version to MS Office 2007, with service pack 1, as this critical update resolves many of these issues.

  • OFFICE 2007 and Acrobat

I had reported on some issues of using OFFICE 2007 with Acrobat 7 and 8. I suspect there was a problem with AA9 also. Typically the result would be graphics with lines through them, at least when expanded. This would often appear that your graphic had been split into parts and pieced together in Acrobat. SP2 for OFFICE 2007 was released recently and I went back to test this issue with the new release. At this point it appears that everything is working great. This follow up is to suggest updates to BOTH OFFICE 2007 and Acrobat if you are having some problems. On this machine I am running VISTA business, OFFICE 2007 (SP2), and AA8. Bill

    Thanks for the update.

  • Windows Server 2008 SBS and Office 2007

Hello, the problem I am having is having Safe Senders and Safe Recipients imported into Outlook 2007 SP2 from group policy. It simply won't append the list. The environment is the following:
Clients: Windows XP Professional with SP3 installed. MS Office 2007 with SP2 installed.
Server: Windows 2008 SBS with SP2 installed.
What I have setup and tried:
    1. Installed the ADMX files correctly on the server and created a GPO with the Outlook settings I need:
      - Specify path to Safe Senders and Recipients files. Location: \\SERVER\netlogon\SafeSenders.txt
    2. Attached the GPO to the correct OU (users are in the OU).
    3. Installed the client side extensions from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3628 on the Windows XP machines.
Even after setting this up the lists still will not import into Outlook 2007. What I have tried and other notes:
    - Clients have access to the \\SERVER\netlogon share area. Verified through Windows Explorer.
    - Tried forcing group policy update using gpupdate /force No results.
    - Tried logoff and reboot combinations on client machines and still no results.
    - gpresult returns the GPO is applied (but clearly it's not working).
New to setting this up to Windows XP clients, works on Windows 7 clients flawlessly. Ideas? Solutions? Thanks.
    Rob Holmes

    Hi Rob Holms,
Based on Donpick's suggestion, if the issue still exists, you can try to enable GPSV debug logging on one client with the problematic clent. This log records the detailed information about the group policy applying process which is very useful for troubleshooting
the group policy related issues. To enable this debug logging, please perform the following steps:
1). In the Regedit Editor, expand HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Window NT\CurrentVersion.
2). Under the folder, create a new key called “Diagnostics”.
3). Under the key, create a DWORD value “GPSvcDebugLevel” and set the value as
    0x30002.
After making this change, run  gpupdate /force to reproduce the issue. After that, check %SystemRoot%\Debug\UserMode\ folder and analyze the log to get more help.

  • CS3 and Office 2007 problem

    Issue:
When logged in as a local user (no admin rights) Word 2007 will crash the whole computer when you type a key.
The reason I am posting on Adobe forums is that this only happens when CS3 is installed as well on the same computer.
    Troubleshooting:
Both products work fine as a local user account, if only one or the other are installed.
During login, Acrobat Pro will display a MSI/Installer progress bar for about 30secs. After I updated Acrobat to 8.1.3, that stops, but the Word crashing problem doesn't.
When starting Office, setup runs everytime. It shows just a progress bar and goes for about 1min.
On a doc, if I wait about 5min and don't do anything. A MSI install progress bar will run for "MS Office 2007 Pro", this will re-spawn for several mins. until it finally stops. After that, Word IS usable.
    No other problems with CS3.
Fully updated both CS3 and Office 2007
This could very well be an Office issue, but it is associated with CS3 also being installed on the same computer.
    Any help would be great!

Agree, this looks like an interaction between Acrobat 8 and Microsoft Office. The symptom you used to see (prior to 8.1.3) was probably Acrobat's "self-healing" process trying to fix something in Office, probably related to the PDFMaker feature that is installed into Office. Perhaps you have a somewhat unconventional installation of Office 2007 with custom registry settings?
Also, you mention that Word "crashes the whole computer" - are you referring to a BSOD or what? Word (and the Acrobat plug-ins for PDFMaker) don't go into any protected mode that can cause a full system crash. Very strange!

  • Contribute CS3.3 and Office 2007

Since installing Adobe Web Suite, I've encountered several
problems. First, my virus software detected a Trojan in one ot the
Illustrator files which every on claims is a incorrect detection.
Second, Outlook and Excel gave a message the Contribute was not
compatible and disabled it. Third, cut and paste within Office
products takes 10-15 seconds since this install. And last,
everytime I shut down windows, I get a message "End Program f14".
Also each time I do shut down, the "f14" changes to another
    hexadecimal number.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
