Official Package Store - Package Files Icons w/Padlock, why?

Hi, everyone.
This question is concerning x64 SQL Server 2008 R2 Std/Ent. This feature probably changed in SQL 2012.
MCT here. I had an interesting question pop up in class today. Hopefully someone can give me the answer.
I'm using the normal file-based package store:
(C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Packages\)
QUESTION: Why does the package's icon and its config file icon change to a padlocked package icon??
If I deploy anywhere else, the padlock does not appear. It will have a normal package icon.
Why is this? What does that padlock represent? Is there a shell namespace extension installed into Windows Explorer?
Thanks in advance!
~Davin
Best wishes, Davin Mickelson

Hi Davin,
It’s actually a Windows File System security issue. For a Windows folder or file, the lock icon will occur when there is only one group or user (except for SYSTEM and ServerName\Administators) who has access to the folder or file. Assuming that there
are three users/groups who have access to this folder:
SYSTEM
ServerName\ABC
ServerName\Administrators
Besides, ServerName\ABC is one member of the ServerName\Administrators group. In this situation, the lock icon appears on this folder. Only if we add one or more arbitrary user or group (such as ServerName\Users, or Authenticated Users, or Network Service),
the lock will disappear. This security policy also applies to a single file, however, the behavior may not as expected for a single file or a folder that is not top level because it may inherit the permissions settings from its parent folder.
So, in your scenario, to remove the lock symbols from the .dtsx files, you can either assign permissions to another user/group on each .dtsx file, or do that on their parent folder and open the Advanced permission setting window to check the “Replace all
child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object” option.

  • Admin studio mis package file missing

    I've just installed the ZEN edition of Admin Studio 8. I'm not familiar with
    using it and so I've started experimenting.
    I tried both a monitored installation and snapshot installation of
    Dreamweaver 8. When I deploy the msi I find that the icon shortcuts are
    wrong and when I run the Dreamweaver exe it complains about a missing dll.
    I looked at the store where Admin Studio stores the files to build the msi
    and the dll is definitely there.
    If I use the old ZENworks Snapshot it works like a charm ... :-)
    I'm kinda stuck. In that it looks like it captures the dll but it doesn't
    build into the msi. I note that Dreamweaver 8 creates two folders in the
    Program Files/Macromedia directory and the dll seems to need to be in both
    folders. Could that be it?
    Some pointers would be gratefully received.

  • Access file reside in the solution/package files on azure

    Hi All,
    I have one file in my solution and it will be uploaded along with package file. now one of the task is to validate file uploaded by end-user with file reside in solution. i am keeping uploaded file into the block blob.
    how i can access file reside in solution on cloud ? should i have to kept file in blob or do we have other better option ?
    BR,
    Jonyy

    Hi,
    As I know you can use the Get Package API from Windows Azure Service Management REST API to retrieve files. I think storing files in blob is still a good way:

  • Any way to import content from AW7 packaged file to modify and repackage?

    Hi, I am new to AW.  Trying to take an existing aircraft systems training program and merge it with another training program that was written with AW5, which modules are not compatible with AW7.  According to the help file, when packaged, the flowlines and icons used to design the program are removed and no longer accessible.  Is there any way to import the content and redesign and tailor to my specific needs?  Thanks.

    Douglas,
    Are you talking about packaged Authorware 5 files? Because it sounds like you are quoting info about packaged files...
    The Authorware 7 authoring tool should be able to open and convert Authorware 5 source files. If all you have a repacked files there's not really anything you can do.

  • Trashed single TM 'IN PROGRESS package file' now stuck in trash. Error8003

    First Time Machine backup on 7.4.2010 after upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6.x went well. The attempt to backup starting on 8/23 gave red 'Failed' icon with "the backup was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk" message after each of several attempts to backup after dish utility drive fixes per Mr. Pondini and reboots.
    TM Buddy kept locking and freezing Dashboard and attempts to use consul to ferret out the errant file(s)left me a bit frustrated.
    Upon opening the backup drive I noticed the 'IN PROGRESS' package file listed in the subdirectory and figured as it was not a Dated backup folder and it did not appear in Time Machine display, I could right click and trash this 'package file' generated by the failed backup and move on to a new backup attempt... WRONG!! File is 'still' in the trash! Can it be moved out of the trash and re-established back where it belongs or is this a major recovery process
    Subsequent backup ran for 7 hours all night and never was completed and now that In Progress file is stuck in the trash. Does the Pondini/Cglusman7/7/10 thread apply here as well??
    What is strange is that the backup drive is showing the dated folders for my backup attempt but they don't show up in the Time Machine display window...!!!?????

    If I understand how TM works, each successive backup performed without any changes occurring only contain a link back to the original backup. So even though they're not taking up much disk space, it displays 10 relatively useless hourly backup windows on the TM screen. I found your instruction for deleting these 'useless' extras.
    Why bother? Time Machine will delete all but the first of the day after 24 hours.
    And while they may not be critically important, they may not be useless, either -- if you've been on the internet, for example, your browser history, bookmarks, website icons, and cookies may have been updated, and the new versions backed-up. If you're interested, see #A2 for a way to see exactly what's getting backed-up.
    Does the #A4 process only reset the 'Select Disk' & 'Options' preferences?
    Those are the main ones, but TM keeps some other things in its preferences file, too, mostly so it doesn't have to look them up every hour when it does a backup.
    With that I will thank you for your help and consider my question answered and the original problem solved
    Yay! Glad it's sorted out.
    not to mention a huge gap filled in my understanding of Time Machine. Your website is a very valuable resource and should be well read by any Mac owner using Time Machine.
    Thanks very much for the kind words.

  • Download all Archlinux official package

    Hallo all!
    i used Arch for 6 monts, and its rock!
    is hard to have internet connection in my country
    i just wondering if i can download all Archlinux official package,how?
    so me and other people can taste a beauty of Archlinux
    without need internet connection
    thanks for everything

    I use nightly downloads of core/extra/community using lftp and the mirror command (can't use rsync because of employer restrictions). After the initial download - it's a breeze and it has the advantage of rsync in that only changes are downloaded. Being a rolling release though - the less often you download the more updates there will be ...
    [edit]
    here's the script I use for the nightly downloads ...
    #!/bin/sh
    # function defs
    say() { echo -e "$*"; }
    tod() { date '+%H:%M:%S'; }
    doit() { # args: 1) server, 2) source, 3) target, 4) filemask
    test -d $3 || ( mkdir -p $3; chmod a+rwx $3; )
    ( say "open $1"
    say "mirror -L -v -r -e -i \"$4\" $2 $3"
    say "quit"
    ) >$chatf
    ( lftp -f $chatf || {
    say "-- 'lftp' error!!"; cat $chatf
    rm $chatf; return 1
    } ) | tr -d [\'\`] | sed \
    -e 's/Transferring file/++/' -e 's/Removing old file/--/'
    rm $chatf
    # definitions
    chatf=/tmp/chatf.$$
    home=/usb/linux
    base=archlinux
    test -d $home/$base || {
    say "-- $home/$base not found!!"
    exit 1
    server=archlinux.unixheads.org
    versions="core extra community"
    arch="i686 x86_64"
    files=".tar.gz\$"
    # do the needfull
    say "\n## date: `date '+%a (%V/%j) %Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S'`"
    for v in $versions; do
    for a in $arch; do
    path="$base/$v/os/$a"
    say "#+ /$path @ `tod`"
    doit $server /$path $home/$path $files
    say "#- done @ `tod`"
    done
    done
    exit 0
    Obviously, you can put this in crontab and have it all automated - redirect stdout to a logfile and you can see what's been updated ;-)

  • Package File Screwing Up Many Things

    I'm wondering if people have work arounds to the package file.  The newest version of Keynote stores its data in, essentially,  a directory.  This is a major pain in the butt for me.  I generally work with other people and we use Git to keep versions of files moving back in forth.  Storing the new file format in Git total messes them up.  Additionally, it has weird problems on Dropbox with conflicts.
    So... Is there a workaround?  Anyone else figured out a way to fix this issue other than just zipping the directory all the time.

    Having used Keynote since version 1, I can confirm that the only workaround is to .zip up the file. Version 5 had a special feature where it could save the file (folder) as zipped with a .key extension, but that option is not available in the latest version.

  • "The selected package file requires an InDesign document that cannot be found."

    Hello,
    I often get this error message "The selected packaged file requires an InDesign document that cannot be found.  How do you want to continue?" when opening in InDesign CS5.5
    My options are "Browse to locate this document." and "Save the contents of the package to disk."
    When I selected "Browse to locate this document." and I located the appropriate InDesign file, it prompts me to browse for the file again.  Its a never ended cycle.
    I'm not sure how to solve this problem.  I'm not familiar with the procedure if I "save the contents of the package to disk."  Can someone help me out with this?
    Thanks!

    Well, there’s your answer. Pretty simple…don’t do that.
    But if the damage has been done, you can change the extension of the idap file to zip and unzip the contents. You’ll find all the updated InCopy stories there.
    Overwrite the ones on your harddrive and you should be good to go.

    Hi ,
       for this Error one and only one solution
    go to view Code, line number and Column number shown in error message,
    and Remove code from there till last and save it,  it happens when we are moving Package from one server to another server. and VS adds some lines of code at the bottom of package

  • Casio G'zOne "package file is invalid"

    I just bought the Casio G'zOne and everytime I download an ap for it I get "Package file is invalid".  I use Play Store to get the ap.  I tried clearing the cache and data for Play Store, I turned the phone on and off, I took the battery out of the phone and turned it back on, I looked for System updates and downloaded any updates needed.  I bought 2 of these phones.  Both work perfect for everything except for downloading aps.  Is there a software update I am missing or are these phones too old to get newer aps.  Aps I have been trying to get are Words with friends, weatherchannel, Angry Birds, etc.  It seems that if I keep trying, then one of the phones will finally successfully download the ap and work.  But I watch my nieces with their Droid and Samsung Galaxy and they don't have any of these problems.  Any help would be apreciated.

    Thanks for all the help.  I talked to my Verizon dealer the other day and after I left them and got back home, I realized what the problem was.  My WiFi was causing the conflict for some reason.  My verizon dealer said some phones were not able to use the wifi to download aps or the wifi wasn't a good enough connection.  I turned the WiFi off on the phone and everything worked using 3G.  So I did get my 2 phones to download aps.  Thanks for all your help on this issue.
    I did have one other question.  Is there a way to set my time manually on my phone to a different time zone?  I live on the border of a time zone and the towers I use are both on central time, where I live on mountain time.  My old flip phone allowed me to put the current time zone time and also the Denver time - both at the same time.  I mostly work on the mountain time zone, but I do cross into the central time zone, so that really worked good on my flip phone.  But my new phone says "automatically set time" and I cannot control how the time is shown on the screen.

  • Location and size of hotspot in a packaged file

    Hi all,
    I'm working on a authorware program in which I want to use the location ans size of a clicked hotspot to draw a rectangle. Ultimately, I would like to be able to change the size/position of a hotspot, and when packaged, the rectangle should be drawn at the new position of the hotspot, with the new size. So far, I've been succesful in an unpackaged file with:
      GetIconProperty(@Title; #awSizeX))
      GetIconProperty(@Title; #awSizeY))
      GetIconProperty(@Title; #awLocationX)
      GetIconProperty(@Title; #awLocationY)
    where Title is the title of the clicked hotspot. So far so good... BUT I learned the hard way that GetIconProperty() does not work in a packaged authorware file (next time I'll first read the help section better!). My question: how can I obtain the same information in a packaged authorware file?
    I have been looking at the GetSpriteProperty() function, which should work in a packaged file. However, the hotspots are not sprites, and I don't know what spriteproperties I should use for the location and size of the hotspot  (#awSizeX, #awSizeY, #awLocationY, & #awLocationX don't work). Furthermore, GetPostPoint does provide the position of the top left pixel position of the hotspot, but I need separate X and Y values for the position of the hotpot to be able to use the Box() function to draw the rectangle. And I need the of the hotspot as well. Lastly, PositionY@Title and PositionX@Title don't work for my hotspots (the value is always 0 and does not change when clicking the hotspots).
    I could solve the problem by making variables of all the position values and size values of all the hotspots, but then I would not be able to change the position and size of the hotspot by dragging, and changing the rectangle accordingly.
    I would be more than happy to hear if anyone has a solution for me.
    Thanks!

    Hi Steve,
    Thanks for your suggestions! Regarding your first thought: I don't know what you mean by making my clickable area a hit *object. I've tried the help pages of authorware, but it drew a blank. Could you explain how I can make my clickable area a hit *object?
    Regarding clickX/Y: the values depend on the exact location where the user clicks, therefore drawing a rectangle over a picture (which is not moving) is difficult using clickX/Y. I would like the rectangle to appear on a certain spot (namely on the position of the hotspot, with the same width & height), regardless where in the hotspot the user clicks.

  • PHD syncing and OmniGraffle package files

    I am having an issue where package files synced to the home directory are appearing empty at a later date.
    This issue seems to be directly related to OmniGraffle documents, affecting anything that is a .graffle (OmniGraffle Document) or .gstencil (OmniGraffle Stencil) that are stored as packages. We are using OmniGraffle 5.2.1. I have the ability to save the documents as a flat file type, I am unsure of the stencils.
    Our enviornment - clients are running on MacBook Pro's with OS 10.5.8. Servers are Mac OS Server 10.5.8. Home directories are stored in an xSAN enviornment (2.2). Users belong to a group (portable homes) in OD that manages the Mobility Preferences and PHD syncing.
    I performed a test where I logged the user in, added a .graffle doc to their desktop, logged them out, restarted and logged back in. Upon login, the "outer shell" of the package was still there, but had no contents.
    Below I have a few excerpts from the FileSyncAgent-verbose.log from the users system. The file I was monitoring was named "NetworkDiagramMaster-2010_vB.graffle"

    This time, when checking the file on the desktop of the users system, the file was there, but there were no contents in the package.
    The user has since logged out and left for the day, but I checked the server and for now, the file seems to be OK. It appears that when the person syncs later, the "blank" file is pushed from their system back up to the server. Then both files are blank.
    I am not sure, but the phrase "Found 'empty' package job. Ignoring." appears a few times in the log. I think this may have something to do with the issue, but I am not sure how to fix it. I have many users and it is beginning to worry me that there may be other files which are not getting copied properly.
    Has anyone out there run across this or have any ideas for a fix?

    You need to ask the Dropbox people about that, but I'm pretty sure that it's like having an external drive and it can't sync that precisely. It will act just like dragging and dropping a file on an external drive and back up the whole thing each time.
    For that kind of syncing you need an iDisk from Apple's MobileMe service. Certain note programs, like Yojimbo, are made with idisk syncing built in, but I don't think Devonthink supports that.

  • Failed to open package file due to error 0x800C0006 "The system cannot locate the file in C# code.

    Hi, Am facing issue when I try to run SSIS package via C# code, I have given full access to all the folder in which the package is available.
    In the below line am getting error,
    using Microsoft.SqlServer.DTS.Runtime;
    Application app=new Application();
    Package package=null;
    package=app.LoadPackage("PackageFullPath",null) --error line
    Failed to open package file "C:\SSIS\Package.dtsx" due to error 0x800C0006 "The system
    cannot locate the object specified.".  This occurs when loading a
    package and the file cannot be opened or loaded correctly into the XML document

    Are you trying to run this code from job or something? Check if account executing the package has access to the path. Also check if path value passed is correct. If its a remote system path pass it in UNC format (ie //machine/...)

  • Can the iPhoto Library package file be recreated?

    I recently moved my iPhoto library to a new LaCie solid state external hard drive, because it had reached 130GB in size and was taking up too much space on my hard drive. My iPhoto library has 30,000 photos with lots of events, smart albums and metadata (faces, keywords, etc.). Unfortunately the external hard drive failed and I had to pay for data recovery services. When I got the external hard drive back, the Masters folders were all there with my photos, but the iPhoto Library package file seems to be missing. Is there anyway to recreate the iPhoto Library package to include all the files AND the associated metadata?
    I found instructions on how to start from scratch by importing the Masters...but this method does not retain metadata. Any ideas would be really appreciated. Worst case scenario, I can go back to a Time Machine back-up from June 2014 and use that as a starting point, but I'd much rather not have to take that route.

    but the iPhoto Library package file seems to be missing.
    You cannot recreate the iphoto library package from your Masters folder. It is an intricate web of linked files.  Use your most recent backup as a starting point, and then add the newer files from your recovered Masters folder.
