Ojvmtc reports xy.jar is not a class or jar file

Hi
I am a little bit confuced because ojvmtc reports an error I can not imagine about:
oracle@cikic-desktop:~/Downloads/dom4j-1.6.1$ ojvmtc /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/mds/jdk/jre/lib/jce.jar
/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/mds/jdk/jre/lib/jce.jar is not a class or jar file
The set is closed
But jce.jar is a jar file and I can inflate it:
oracle@cikic-desktop:/tmp/fo$ jar -xf /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/mds/jdk/jre/lib/jce.jar
oracle@cikic-desktop:/tmp/fo$ ls -l
total 8
drwxr-xr-x 3 oracle oinstall 4096 2010-05-03 19:40 javax
drwxr-xr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 2010-05-03 19:40 META-INF
And if I do a ojvm on a class file everything is working like expected:
oracle@cikic-desktop:/tmp/fo$ ojvmtc javax/crypto/Mac.class
The set is not closed
96 classes are missing
So It must be a configuration mistake somewhere ...
Can you please help me out.
Thanks
Christian Maier

Coole thanks, this works pretty well!
Chris
oracle@cikic-desktop:~$ cp /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/mds/jdk/jre/lib/jce.jar /tmp/
oracle@cikic-desktop:~$ ojvmtc /tmp/jce.jar
The set is not closed
131 classes are missing

    Error Message : ClassCastExcption : jartest1 cannot be cast to ThingPresumably we can only hope that that is a transciption error. It always helps to use copy and past actual errors and code rather than manually typing them.
    test.jar contains jartest.class and Thing.classWrong.
    The interface class and plugable class must not be in the same jar.
    A plugable interface requires two components
    - Interface (generic sense)
    - Functional components.
    The Interface must be independant (own jar) so that it is available to the framework (user of plugin) and to the functional components. And the plugable component must not be on the java class path.
    This also means that we know for certain that the plugable component is also on the system class path. That is a bad idea as well.
    Given that it is pretty pointless to even speculate as to why this error is showing up. Create the correct jar layout. Test using the command line. Then test using servlets. Insure that the plugable jar is NOT on the java classpath for both tests.

  • Servlet can not find classes in ear file, only in system classpath.

    Hi,
              My servlet "DataServlet" is included in ear/war file.
              When I try to reach it:
              http://www.mysite.com/DataServlet
              Servlet starts execute doPost() and throw Exception ClassNotFound.
              All classes inculuded in ear files and all jsp working fine.
              It works like standalone servlet and not as part of web application.
              Maybe, there is problem in context root?
              web.xml configuration:
              <servlet-mapping>
              <servlet-name>
              DataServlet
              </servlet-name>
              <url-pattern>
              /DataServlet
              </url-pattern>
              </servlet-mapping>
              application.xml configuration:
              <web>
              <web-uri>data.war</web-uri>
              <context-root>data</context-root>
              </web>
              Thanks,
              Oleg.

    Is the ClassNotFoundException on the DataServlet class, or a class the DataServlet class is trying to use?
              Did you try <http://www.mysite.com/data/DataServlet>?
              I would recommend you always define your classes in packages, as opposed to the default package, which you appear to be using. You'll run into problems down the line if you use the default package.

    Afternoon All,
    I am using the latest CR4Ev2.
    Java 1.6 (Am very sure but will double check)
    My Windows enviroment is all working perfectly and so have moved my application over to a Linux setup.
    After solving all my case-sensitivity issues I have managed to get my reports almost working. (I hope almost)
    When the following code is run:
    reportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
    reportClientDocument.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
    reportClientDocument.open(reportFilePath,OpenReportOptions._openAsReadOnly);
    I get the below error messages in my logging.

    Now it could just be as simple as we dont have a printer setup on that box.
    Is this a definate requirement. Does the server have to have a printer setup, even if we are only exporting to PDF files.
    I am still doing some testing and since it is the first time getting this far on Linux it might be mistakes on my side,
    but thought I would ask the wide world and see what replies I get back.

    Sorry for the bump but wanted to change the subject to something more enticing

    After many many hours of reading and pulling my hair out I have found a solution to my problem,
    Whether it is a valid solution or a workaround or a cheat I am hoping someone can tell me.
    If I run my application with the switch
    java -jar -Djava.awt.headless=true MyApp.jar
    It works.
    Now I am still doing some investigation on what exactly this headless switch is doing. But it works so I am happy.
    If anyone can give me a technical and or a laymans explanation that would be great.
    All I have to do now is solve my Font issue
    Cheers
    Darren

    Thank you gimbal2 . There was error in creating the jar file myjarfile.jar.
    But, now I have created it again and placed it in place
    c:\tomcat6\webapps\my-application\WEB-INF\lib\myjarfile.jarand tried to use one on the Class file included within the jar to compile my servlet. But, still I am getting error at servlet compilation time. I want to place executable jar files in

    If you please see the small code bit and tell me any possible error that would be very helpful.

  • Classes in JAR not accessible

    Hi,
    I have one problem. I have put one JAR to WEB-INF/lib and importing the package bundled in that JAR in a servlet but I am getting CLASSDEFNOTFOUND error for classes bundled in JAR.
    But if I extract JAR to WEB-INF/classes folder then there in no problem while loading servlet.
    Could anyone put some light on that why classes are not available from JAR in WEB-INF/lib folder.
    Regards,
    Jashan

    Hi,
    it is possible that one class in your jar file use some other classes which are not in your classpath?
    The NoClassDefFoundError shows you the name of the missing class is this class in your jar or a class you refer.
    Otherwise post the important part from the error message.
    Regards
    Torsten

  • JAR: - Could not find main class

    I'm sorry, I know this issue has been posted before but I am a bit confused with my situation.
    After making a jar on my computer, I run it, and the program loads and runs perfectly.
    However, when I try the jar on someone else's computer, it doesn't work, and gives the "could not find main class" message. The other computer has JRE but not JDK, so I don't know if that makes a difference.
    Anyways, my main class file is located in a package called hw2, and the whole project is located in a folder called HW2. So my class file is located in something like C:\School\HW2\hw2\Main.class.
    My Manifest.txt file is located in the \School\HW2 directory and has the following with a new line at the end:
    Main-Class: hw2.Main
    At the command prompt, I go to my C:\School\HW2 directory and I type the following to create the jar:
    jar cvmf Manifest.txt test.jar hw2\*.class
    My jar file has the following contents:
    META-INF/
    META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
    hw2/Bank.class
    hw2/GUIInterface.class

    Did I write the manifest.txt file correctly? Am I in the right directory when creating the jar file? Am I executing the jar command wrong? How come it works on my computer but not on someone else's?

    Are you certain you're executing the jar in the same way on both machines?
    For example, are you sure you're not executing the unjarred class files when you run on your local machine?

  • Workshop not finding all classes in jar.

    I've added a jar to my application's Libraries but when I expend it not all of the public classes in the jar are visible. Within one package, for example, two public classes are and two aren't.
    The same jar can be read fine by the Eclipse IDE and when I use WinZip I see all the class files, so I'm pretty sure the behavior is with Workshop. Are there settings with respect to Libraries I might be missing?

    Is there a cleaner way to do this?No. You have to search for the classes in the file system (or JARs or whatever) if the class isn't already loaded.

  • Could not initialize class coldfusion.runtime.report.Report

    I have inherited an application that contains a number of
    reports. This application was developed on our CF7 server, and when
    we upgraded, the application was copied to 8, but not fully tested.
    Now, when we request the reports, we get the following errors (this
    is a Flex application):
    (mx.rpc::Fault)#0
    errorID = 0
    faultCode = "Server.Processing"
    faultDetail = (null)
    faultString = "Could not initialize class
    coldfusion.runtime.report.Report"
    message = "faultCode:Server.Processing faultString:'Could
    not initialize class coldfusion.runtime.report.Report'
    faultDetail:'null'"
    name = "Error"
    rootCause = (null)
    My searching for a solution has not been successful on
    Google. Has anyone experienced this error and been able to fix it?
    I'm at a loss on what to do next, and as the app is in production,
    I have some upset clients over this.
    Thanks!!
    Jenn

    I can't find anything further on this error after much
    research. I'm getting the problem when I try to run any report on a
    live web server (hosted site), even though it runs fine in the
    development environment. My hosting company could only suggest that
    the problem could lie with the fact they have RDS disabled;
    however, although the Report Builder requires RDS, running uploaded
    .cfr reports from the cfreport tag shouldn't. If anyone solves this
    I'd be most grateful for the information to be posted.

    what's the problem?
    ok, i am using a mysql db und using the driver mysql-connector-java-5.1.8-bin.jar....
    i improted this jar file like this run -> run configuration -> classpath -> add external jar....

    That looks like it might be a binary-distribution JAR that you should unjar. The actual JAR for the classpath is probably inside it.

  • Web application in EAR not finding class in APP=INF/lib jar file

    Hi,
    I have read some posts regarding this but am still not able to figure out anything.
    I have a war file in my EAR along with some EJB jars. I have the common jars in the APP-INF/lib. The EJBs can find the classes in the common jars easily. But the Web app gives me a NoClassDefFoundError when trying to load a class from a common jar.
    Here is the structure:
    <pre>
    EAR
    |---WAR
    |---WEB-INF
    | |---lib
    | |---a.jar (A.class)
    |---APP-INF
    |---lib
    |---b.jar (B.class)
    </pre>
    Class A is trying to load class B and I get the NoClassDefFoundError for class B
    Thanks for any help,
    Sameet

    I found the problem. The web-app was finding the class in the APP-INf/lib. But the problem was being caused due to a reference to another class that was being loaded by the webapp classloader which was not visible to the class inside the common jar. The solution was to make sure both classes were being loaded by one class loader.
    Thanks anyway
    Sameet
