Web application in EAR not finding class in APP=INF/lib jar file

Hi,
I have read some posts regarding this but am still not able to figure out anything.
I have a war file in my EAR along with some EJB jars. I have the common jars in the APP-INF/lib. The EJBs can find the classes in the common jars easily. But the Web app gives me a NoClassDefFoundError when trying to load a class from a common jar.
Here is the structure:
<pre>
EAR
|---WAR
|---WEB-INF
| |---lib
| |---a.jar (A.class)
|---APP-INF
|---lib
|---b.jar (B.class)
</pre>
Class A is trying to load class B and I get the NoClassDefFoundError for class B
Thanks for any help,
Sameet

I found the problem. The web-app was finding the class in the APP-INf/lib. But the problem was being caused due to a reference to another class that was being loaded by the webapp classloader which was not visible to the class inside the common jar. The solution was to make sure both classes were being loaded by one class loader.
Thanks anyway
Sameet

    Hello

    /WEB-INF/classes/ (my servlet classes)

    /WEB-INF/web.xml (descriptor)
    ok,
    I run deploy tool,

    convert to ias module, modify the descriptor,
    verify (everything ok)
    save module
    create ear (ex ap1.ear)
    put this module within this ear
    create and save ear descriptor
    save ear
    verify (everything ok)
    deploy ear.
    ok,
    Why decompress my lib jar files in:
    /APPS/ap1/mod1/WEB-INF/lib
    These wil be fine if decompress the entire jars, but only extracts the class
    files and no the xxxx.properties neither messages.txt; exactly
    no extracts files that aren't .class. ???
    Are there any workaround to this that isn't copy the files? Figure not to
    have ftp acces in a sun? What we have to do?
    Thanks.

  • Web application can not find apphome /WEB-INF/lib/*.jar files in classpath?

    I need to add the jsse jars to one of my servlets. I do not want the jsse in the server classpath(jvm12.conf) however, because this screws with some credit card jar I am using. Can't I have a per application classpath with the /WEB-INF/lib directory? This is iWS 6.0.

  • OAS 10.1.3 isn't detecting /WEB-INF/lib jar files within WAR file

    Hello,
    I have been developing and testing a simple non-EJB web application on Tomcat 5.5 with no class loading difficulties for the past several months. All of the needed JARs for my app are located under the WEB-INF/lib directory. My next task is to deploy the WAR file containing my webapp on the Oracle 10g (10.1.3) application server.
    The problem I am having when trying to do this is that when I deploy the WAR file from Oracle Enterprise Manager, the WAR file will expand correctly but at runtime OAS doesn't appear to be detecting the JAR files in the WEB-INF/lib folder of my WAR file. I have confirmed that the JAR files are indeed being expanded in the directory that OC4J expands the WAR file into:
    appserver/j2ee/home/applications/appEARFile/MyWebApp/WEB-INF/lib.
    But when I run the application, from the Firefox browser I immediately get the following 500 Internal Server Error:
    "Servlet error: Error instantiating servlet 'reports'. Servlet class org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet not found in web-application MyWebApp"
    (The IE browser just gives me the 500 error without additional elaboration.)
    But my spring.jar where that class is located is in the WEB-INF/lib directory. Does anyone have an idea what the solution is--how can I get OC4J to read the spring.jar (or any jar) in that lib folder? (Or is there a way I can configure logging to better pinpoint the problem if that isn't it?)
    Thanks,
    Glen

    Glen,
    You said:
    IE browser just gives me the 500 error without
    additional elaborationTry unsetting the "Show friendly HTTP error
    messages".
    From the "Tools" menu of Microsoft Internet Explorer,
    choose "Internet Options".
    (You should then see another window entitled
    "Internet Properties" displayed.)
    Select the "Advanced" tab and search for "Show
    friendly HTTP error messages".
    Excellent--that worked. Thanks! I was afraid that I would have to be debugging on Firefox exclusively.
    I also suggest setting the
    "search-local-classes-first" attribute, of the
    "web-app-class-loader" element, in your
    "orion-web.xml" file to 'true' (if it isn't
    already).
    That did it. My orion-web.xml file was of the old DTD-based version, I believe that was causing the problem.

    Class Loading Framework which contains a section
    entitled Troubleshooting Class Loading-Related
    Problems in OC4J.
    Thanks for the link, I went through it thoroughly in trying to fix my problem.

  • EAR project facet and APP-INF/lib

    Hello,
    I have four Workshop 10.3 projects which comprise an EAR. The projects are like this:
    - MyCommonLib (Project Facets: EAR 5.0, WebLogic EAR Extensions 5.0)
    - MyCommonLibControls (Project Facets: Utility Module 1.0, WebLogic Utility Module Extensions 10.3, ...)
    - MyCommonLibSchemas (Project Facets: Utility Module 1.0, WebLogic Utility Module Extensions 10.3, ...)
    - MyCommonLibExtraControls (Project Facets: Utility Module 1.0, WebLogic Utility Module Extensions 10.3, ...)
    Basically, I am bundling 3 utility-jars into an EAR to be deployed collectively as a shared library. The problem is that I need to define at least one module in application.xml, otherwise deployment fails. Workshop however places all the jars in APP-INF/lib and leaves the application.xml empty.
    I tried to "hack my way around this" by creating an empty "dummy.jar" file and placing it in the EarContent folder of the "MyCommonLib" project and editing application.xml by hand. However, when I export an EAR, it does not make it into the archive (even if I add it to the J2EE Module Dependencies of the EAR project MyCommonLib) and therefore deployment fails because the dummy.jar referenced in my application.xml does not exist.
    What project settings do I need to achieve what I need?
    Edited by: akarypid on Nov 4, 2010 2:29 AM

    Hello,
    Thank you for your input; the WAR approach works, although I don't like the idea of publishing web pages by importing the shared library.
    However, I was hoping for an approach that would use the "standard J2EE" jar packaging approach whereby a project that is marked as a utilitiy module is not placed in the APP-INF/lib (thisi is weblogic-specific) but rather placed in the EAR's root and published in the standard application.xml as:
    <application ...>
        <module>
            <java>dummy.jar</java>
       </module>
    </application>This way I could bundle everything into the EAR, without having to include a web application in the shared library (and every app that uses it)... Could this be done using some project setup in Workshop?

  • Ejb error((MARSHAL) Could not find class) when using OneToMany relationship

    I am using Netbeans 5.5 with J2EE App Server 9. I have two entity beans with a OneToMany Uni-directional relationship. I have a Remote Stateless session bean which has persistence operations for creating and searching etc.. I am accessing the remote bean via jndi from a j2ee java client. The access works fine. The session bean persist operation creates data in both the entities (cascade persist).

    It appears to be a bug in Netbeans.
    I have a similar error message with the following settings:
    A session bean remote interface

    be.macharis.toon.pacita.common.OriginFacadeAt deploying the ejb module, the session bean is loaded in the JNDI registry under the name be.macharis.toon.pacita.common.OriginFacadeRemote (the server log says so).
    I have the following code in a servlet:
    import javax.naming.Context;
    import javax.naming.InitialContext;
    import javax.naming.NamingException;
    try {
        Context ic = new InitialContext();
        OriginFacadeRemote originFacade = (OriginFacadeRemote)ic.lookup(OriginFacadeRemote.class.getName());
        originFacade.setOrigin(componentRegistry, OriginFacadeRemote.ELEMENT_CONTAINER); // <- exception here
    } catch (NamingException e) {
        e.printStackTrace();
    }Yet I get a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException during the EJB method call. The exception does not take place during execution of the method, but before, while the EJB container is still resolving the method. It thus must be a(nother) bug in the implementation of the EJB container.
    And bugs that are outside your control are so much harder to deal with... There was another bug in the EJB container for serialising complex object that I could work around by explicitly serialising the Objects myself to byte arrays. It took me 5 days to do so. I don't know if I will manage to work around this bug. If I do, I will post my solution. For completeness, below my "clarifying" error dump:

  • I have configure remote access feature web application proxy but not configure give the error. The remote name could not be resolved.

    I have configure remote access feature web application proxy but not configure give the error. The remote name could not be resolved in server 2012 R2.
    I have configure Ad and ADFS different server and try to configure web application proxy different server. what setting are required for connect web application proxy to Ad and ADFS.

    Hi,
    In addition, please make sure that the port 443 is not blocked by the firewall.
    Web Application Proxy requires internal name resolution to resolve the names of backend servers, and AD FS servers. When publishing web applications via Web Application Proxy, every web application you publish requires an external URL. For clients to reach
    these web applications, a public DNS server must be able to resolve each external URL that you configure. Note that the external URL must resolve to the same IP address as the Web Application Proxy server, or the external IP address of a firewall or load-balancer
    placed in front of the Web Application Proxy server.
    Best regards,
    Susie

    i improted this jar file like this run -> run configuration -> classpath -> add external jar....

    That looks like it might be a binary-distribution JAR that you should unjar. The actual JAR for the classpath is probably inside it.

    Hi Dmirtiyter, I suspect that you have a windows computer and seems you have a 32 bit system and that's the only reason you are not getting a download option for Premiere Pro as its a 64 bit Program.
