Ok i finally decided what i will order with my new mobo. Pls tell me what you think...

Ok i got the 875p neo Fisr pcb 2.9
I have a p4 2.8(800) atm , but im thinking of ordering a 3.0 or 3.2 since i dont overclock much...
Decided to go with kingmax ramm unless someone saiys else i got a reply earlier that someone has this and it works. only thing i worry is they dont come in a duel kit so im gonna order 2 from prolly a bulk load... pc3200 kingmax . newegg has them for 80 a pop. 512 meg a stick. one thing that worries me is they are rated at 2.5 volts and if needed to crank them suckers to 2.7 then i might change the memory order if you guys think that will be a problem.
Got a bfg geforce 600gt coming from best buy for 399.(434 w/tax.)
Gonna get a vantec 520 watt psu, has oveer 25 amps anthe 12, has over everythng LOL.
I dont know what bios this new mobo is so i am wondering if after i install all if i should flash to the latest bios or not to worry about flasshing??
Woot im finally getting close to ordering , only thing i might change is no pcu if you think a 32. from a 2.8 wont make a bigg difference , or if you think the kingmax ramm rated at 2.5 volts might give me a problem . Im afraid to go corsair or very low clas like 2. these are 2.5 . Im my last board the pcb 1.0 after i bios flashed from somethng ( i dont remember which i had i could no longer run in ultra turbo)Ohh ye i had 1.92 b at that time. but for some reason it worked . My only concern is that i wont be able to run in ultr turbo, i could still run in slow on my last mobo but i lost scores in all benchmarks. Well well see what happs this time.
Ill let ya know . thanx for all of you that replied.

the neo lsr or fisr should be great boards . mine kicked butt until i messed with it and i guess the flashing which i did correctly on my board didnt undo when i went back. So all with a pcb 1.0 if it works, dont mess with it. LOL . Worked great and was very fast .
I hope the new pcb 2.0 is just as good.
ohh that was geforce6800 gt not 600 LOL. Sorry im tired been up and stressed over what i should order...
Im out .
Peace !

    Hey, Jeff...
    I don't know how I could have made my question any more clear -- so let me try approaching it the other way around, and refer back to your answer(s).
    You've been responding by saying that it's okay for me to remove the Creative Cloud versions of my software, but I don't have any Creative Cloud versions installed! I'm not talking about that at all, I'm talking about the software for Creative Cloud itself -- I don't use it, I don't need it, I don't want it, and all it does is nag me, telling me that there's updates for it (Creative Cloud). I have the full Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard bought and paid for, I have no reason nor need to "rent" any later versions, I'm just talking about the Creative Cloud software itself that got installed on my system when I installed that suite of programs.
    Like I said, I don't use Creative Cloud at all -- all it does is "nag" me, and eat up space on my hard drive. When I go in my Windows Control Panel and look at my list of installed programs, there it is -- "Adobe Creative Suite" -- and it's listed separately from "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard" (of which I've only installed Photoshop, Acrobat and InDesign, basically, as those are the only programs I use at all at the moment). Can I just uninstall "Adobe Creative Suite" without it affecting "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard", i.e. my Photoshop, etc. will still work just fine, and I can still get updates and stuff? And by "updates" I don't mean get later versions of Photoshop, etc., I just mean any possible updates to the software that I do already have (that comes with Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard).
    I hope that makes my question a little more clear?

  • I I want to know what you think?

    Since May, I started my own website.
    I want to know what you think?
    http://www.limix.nl

    Not a bad start.  My only comments are:
    1.)  At the very top ( register / log in ), use a color such as the headline color just to add a little snap.
    2.)  Add some Gray to the background of your links area sections and add a little Gray to the upper bevel on the window panels for the sections.  This will enforce the coordination with the logo / banner in Black.  Leave the text backgrounds the color they are now, just add some contrast.
    3.)  I like the ease of getting around and the link navigation.  Simple and clean.  Nicely done.
    4.)  It wouldn't hurt to add a little color to the main illustration / artwork of the character stances.  Nothing too distracting, some warm pastels maybe.
    I didn't go any further than the home page due to time.  Another concern is it is a static site for an exercise orientated site.  Think about some type of quality animation for the artwork...just to motivate the vister and let them know you mean business.  You're action ( so show some ).  Consider some type of stock animation if you are strapped for time or do not know how to create animation.  You might find something that "fits" your business and adds some life to your site.  But, that said, not a bad starter site.  I'm sure you've taken a look at the competition and have seen what they are doing.  If not, take a minute to see what other exercise orientated sites are doing.  This does not mean copy them, but use the information to help you distinguish yourself from the others.  Maybe you've already done that and you do not want any cheesy animation tricks in your site because everyone else is doing it.  I do not know, but I'm making some initial comments based on your site and not others.  Are you saying you just started working on this May 1, 2012?  Not bad for 4 days work!

    There seems to be a problem, just now, with the USB 3 ports on the new MBP's supporting eternal USB 3 drives. Some people have no luck at all - can't even recognize the drive - and some are reporting USB 2 speeds (those who drives are recognized). I'd call a dealer such as LaCie or OWC to see if they have USB 3 drives that actually work with MBP's with USB 3 ports. You may have to wait for a software/firmware update.

    I have lots of ToDOs in Lotus Notes and would like to sync only selected with the Phone (those which fit "@phone" contexts, such as @phone, @car, @city etc.; those who practice GTD will know what I mean). Same could apply to Calendar Entries.
    Does anybody know which field/s is checked when syncing to Nokia via PC Sync? Or is it the FORM field only? for:
    - ToDOs (Tasks)
    - Calendar Entries (Appointments /Meetings etc.)
    I would like to decide WHAT WILL SYNC by changing field/s values in Lotus Notes. This would allow me to display only a few ToDOs I really need on the Phone. Now with many ToDOs phone Calendar for Today is hardly usable, it takes very long to open and scroll :-(
    NB: I am copy-pasting to Lotus Notes the Anniversaries every year, and they do not sync with the Phone (so it is not the FORM alone which is checked). Would like to fix it as well.
    Did anybody explore this issue? Can you help?

    I have the same problem, although I use Outlook, viz: HOW TO CONTROL WHICH TODO ITEMS WILL SHOW ON THE PHONE? I have over 100 ToDo items in Outlook, which I would like to keep there, but I only want to see a few of them on my phone--namely, the ones that I plan to do that day. How can I limit the items that will be written to the phone (Nokia 6124 classic)? Have you found a solution?

  • What 22" external display will work with the new, late 2008, macbook

    I, like many others, have problems with my external display. My problem is the one second screen blackout that happens intermittently, more so when I am scrolling around a web site. The other problem being that the pictures are elongated sideways, i.e. a ball looks oval. I have the 2.4 aluminum macbook and a Samsung SyncMaster 2253bw external monitor. (I can get the monitor to stop blacking out by setting it at a lower resolution, but this does not solve the oval ball effect)
    We are all waiting for a hoped for firmware fix for this, without any official word that apple is indeed working on one. My question is this, and its for folk who are thinking about buying an external monitor - Who has had a good result with a 22/24 inch monitor with the new macbook, and what was the monitor?

    Thanks hsurfer. The link you have provided gives a helpful insight. Those with the macbook pro are able to switch from their 9400 graphics card to the better 9600 graphics card, which resolves the issue, at least with the samsung monitor. We who have the macbook however do not have the option. The problem does seem to clearly emanate from the macbook graphic card, lets hope that a fix is still around the corner, the latest firmware update clearly did not resolve it.
    Im still looking for success stories, anyone who can say that their specific external 22'/24' monitor works fine with the new macbook?
    kind regards
    allan

  • HT2305 I have a new computer with Windows 8 OS.  Do I need to install drivers so that my Ipod Nano will sync with this new computer:

    My daughter gave me a new Ipod (Nano) for Christmas.  I had no problem download my songs from my old Ipod (Shuffle) to the new one.  However - since I do not buy songs on a regular basis, I did not buy a new song until 4/29/13.  Now for information...sometime in March my old laptop died, completely.  I had to go buy a new one - which I did and this new one has Windows 8 Operating System on it (which I hate, btw).
    Now, when I bout a song on Tuesday, the song did not go to my new Ipod.   I tried everything and finally had to talk to a tech - who was very kind in helping me and we did get all my songs from Itunes to this new computer.  I thought the song I bought would then go on the Ipod - but it did not.  I had already hung up from the tech - since we had been talking on the phone for about an hour.  He informed me that he was giving me a "courtesy break" because it has been over 90 days since my new Ipod was purchased ---- just my darn luck!
    Anyway, I have figured out on my own that the new Ipod Nano is not synced with the new laptop with Windows 8.  I have been trying for the last 2 hours to get it to do so and in doing so, found out that Windows 8 is not mentioned in any of the help forums.  So...my question is:  Do I need to install drivers on the computer or what?  I will not be purchasing anymore music from Itunes until I get this matter resolved.  Any help will be apreciated. Thank you.

  • What you think about Gobolinux's FS layout?

    GoboLinux is a modular Linux distribution: it organizes the programs in your system in a new, logical way. Instead of having parts of a program thrown at /usr/bin, other parts at /etc and yet more parts thrown at /usr/share/something/or/another, each program gets its own directory tree, keeping them all neatly separated and allowing you to see everything that's installed in the system and which files belong to which programs in a simple and obvious way.
    http://www.gobolinux.org/
    They also seem to have a clear direction, or philosophy, like Arch does:
    http://gobo.kundor.org/wiki/The_GoboLinux_way
    Gobolinux's FS layout have some advantages, like:
    * Easy package management, no need to handle and track multiple files scatered in the system
    * Easy coexistence of multiple versions of the same package
    * Easy to rollback, just change symlinks
    * Easy for third-party application distribution, just make a bundle with all it needs
    In fact, this layout is much close to what OS X does. There's an obvious con, and is the fact that some packages might duplicate files, thus increasing disk usage. On the other hand, it would be a much more friendly Linux system for shipping applications, as it's easier to ship a bundle that installs itself correctly with all it needs. I think the current UNIX historical FS layout is holding back a lot of inovation Linux could have on the desktop for making easier for developers target and ship binaries for the plataform.
    No more various distro teams duplicating effort to put source tarballs together. You see we have a lot of distros, but they are actually doing small variations and incrementations of the same thing: building and packaging stuff from source, and taking care for one not break the other. The result is, if the package doesn't come from your distro, you're on high risk of breaking your system. This holds back 3rd parties from targeting the plataform, as they can't control the package building and distribution themselves.
    As I said, OS X already does a similar package concept to that, and see how much good aplications they're bringing from both big companies and independent developers. And, despite the core being an open kernel and GNU userland, all the relevant stack (core libraries, UI) is closed source! I'm asking myself, why Linux, for free and with a ton of open-source core and libraries, without any vendor lock-in, is NOT kicking ass in this aspect? The only fault I see in Linux is a lack of cohesive package distrbution. Gobolinux approach seems a step to fix this.
    So... I want your opinions, not much about Gobolinux itself, but about their approach. Maybe would we ever see an Arch spin-off using this approach, or another approach with similar results - effectively, package compartmentation in the FS layout level? Using this layout could alleviate a bit the burden of forced upgrade that a rolling release brings.
    And for those who didn't know Gobolinux, give it a try.
    I hope this post can give a glimpse of new ideas and solutions for some of the incredible talented people here. I think the Linux landspace is too immersed in inertia and old traditions that don't cope with today needs, Arch was a refreshing oasis of innovation I found in that landscape.

    freakcode wrote:But this is scheme is less applicable for executables, and more for dynamic libraries, as binaries link to names like "lib-1.0.so.0.9.1", so those can be distinct symlinked.
    Wouldn't you then need to link all your executables to specifically numbered library .so's?  Most executables, by default, are linked to /usr/lib/libfoo.so.1 where libfoo.so.1 is a symlink to libfoo.so.1.5.2 or whatever (where most libfoo.so.1.* are more or less backward compatible, so most executables linked to libfoo.so.1 will be just fine with the upgrade).   I don't see how this would work if package A needs libfoo 1.4.3 and package B needs libfoo 1.5.2 but both are linked to libfoo.so.1.   So you would need executable X linked to libfoo.so.1.4.3 and executable Y linked to libfoo.so.1.5.2.  And then when you upgrade the library, you need to re-link every package that links to it to take advantage of the new lib (throwing away the whole point of linking to libfoo.so.1 by default).
    Yes, my example wasn't clear. Executables X and Y are linked against lib-A.so, which in turn is a symlink to a minor version like lib-A.so.aa. When this lib gets updated, and breaks compatiblity, the maintainers bump the major version number so it turns into lib-B.so. Executable X can be readily updated to work with the new lib-so.B, while executable Y can still work because both lib-A.so and lib-B.so can coexist in the system. In this case, I don't need to wait both X and Y being updated to the new library to install one of them. Minor versions (lib-A.so.aa, lib-A.so.ab, ...) don't affect most builds, as they normally link to a major release (lib-A.so, that is a symlink to the most recent minor version) that guarantee to maintain compatiblity.
    For instance, this happened with libstdc++ too, but is an exception because both branches (5 & 6) coexisted for some time.
    But don't take my word on it, see how Gobolinux actually manages that http://www.gobolinux.org/index.php?page=k5 (What is it all about?)
    jcasper wrote:So I must be missing something, as I don't see how this new directory layout would improve the modularity of the distro packages.  The cleanliness of the filesystem is arguable improved, but I agree with earlier posts that a good package manager like we have in Arch is just as effective.  In Arch I can instantly see what package a file belongs to, see every file installed by a package, and easily add and remove packages.   So in terms of stuff I can do easily, what do separate directories for each get me?
    (Just to make it clear, I'm not directly comparing with what is existent in Arch, neither saying that what we have today doesn't work, which also happens to be the case with all the other 300 distros. The fact one thing works, doesn't mean it is the only neither the best possible solution. From there comes the interest to discuss Gobolinux's approach)
    The point is, if the layout is clean and sandboxed, you don't need a package manager. A package manager is an abstraction to a database relating what files belongs to what packages, that tries to ultimately solve a fundamental flaw of using the traditional Unix hierarchy, where files from one package are scattered on the filesystem, and then you have no simple means to track them anymore. That's hardly KISS. In Gobolinux's approach, you can track files to their packages by simply inspecting symlinks.
    /System/Links/Libraries] ls -l | cut -b 49-
    libgtk-1.2.so.0 -> /Programs/GTK+/1.2.10/lib/libgtk-1.2.so.0.9.1
    libgtk-1.2.so.0.9.1 -> /Programs/GTK+/1.2.10/lib/libgtk-1.2.so.0.9.1
    libgtk.a -> /Programs/GTK+/1.2.10/lib/libgtk.a
    libgtk.la -> /Programs/GTK+/1.2.10/lib/libgtk.la
    libgtk.so -> /Programs/GTK+/1.2.10/lib/libgtk-1.2.so.0.9.1
    libgtk-x11-2.0.la -> /Programs/GTK+/2.6.7/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.la
    libgtk-x11-2.0.so -> /Programs/GTK+/2.6.7/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.600.7
    libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 -> /Programs/GTK+/2.6.7/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.600.7
    On a side note now, having /bin and /usr/bin, /usr and /usr/local,... all that made sense once, with a different hardware, with a different purpose. Does it make sense today, on a modern desktop system? There's enough room and flexibility to rethink and improve those ideas further *without* actually breaking compatiblity, as Gobolinux and OS X already achieved. The only reason most Linux systems until today stick to old standards is because Linux systems were originally intended as cheap Unix replacements. Funny enough is that OS X, which doesn't follow the Unix hierarchy standard so close, is regarded as fully Unix compatible and marketed using the Unix trademark - whereas Linux isn't.
