OLAP OPTION IN OEM 10g

Hi...
I want to create a data warehouse (dimensión, cubes) using OEM 10g ... i found some examples about how to create this objects and i saw that OEM 10g in examples have an OLAP option that i can´t see in my OEM. The questions is .. how do i enable my OEM to use OLAP Option.. or wich version of OEM support and where can i download it ...
Best regards

In 10g Java Console, Select the Database, then check under Warehouse -> Summary Management.
In DB Console or Grid Control, Select the Database, Select Administration, Select OLAP Dimensions or Cubes under Warehouse.

  • Creating Standby database in OEM 10g

    DB = Oracle 10.2.0.4

I am trying to create a physical standby database using the add standby database option within OEM 10g. This is something we have done numerous times before on 10g and 11g db's without a single issue, but for some reason, this time after selecting my RMAN backup location and staging area location , I am getting the following error when I click Next:
RMAN Backup Location - The specified RMAN backup is invalid. Could not identify controlfile from the backup
It is the latest backup (using RMAN catalog) from the previous evening and includes datafiles and control file.
Here is the output for List backup:

The only difference between creating a standby for this db and others we have created is that the file system the backups are stored on is on a non-global zone shared via nfs mount.
I know that when I try and share that filesystem with other servers I get the message:
share_nfs: Cannot share filesystems in non-global zones
If the /backup filesystem is not shared with any other servers would OEM be able to read from that NGZ? The filesystem is available to connect to using ssh from other locations, but not sure how OEM handles this part of the process.
    Any advice would be great.
    Regards,
    JP

Thanks for the reply. I thought that is what I would need to do. However this link is very useful and could resolve the issue. I have yet to raise it with the system admin guys here yet but will do and will report back on outcome.

  • How to access Data Guard option in Oracle 10g OEM

    Hi All,
I have Oracle 10g ENTERPRISE EDITION on Unix envoirement. I want to setup logical standby Database through Data Guard technology. But when I brows through OEM I do not find Link for DATA GUARD????
    1) How to access Data Guard option from oracle 10g OEM.
    2) Does It come with Enterprise Edition OR I have to install it separately.
    Regards,
    Darshan

I am managing almost everything through EM Grid Control. It is easy to setup and configure.
Anyways, if you have read the documentation on
Oracle® Data Guard Concepts and Administration and setup your environment accordingly then you should not have any problems. Atleast I can assure you that your production database will not be affected by it.
Just make sure that you follow each step and read thoroughly. If you have spare machines then you can test and record your configuration before performing it on your production db. This link will provide you with the information on DataGuard.
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/concepts.htm
If you think that way then you will never be able to do any new stuff since you will always fear that something might go wrong. Go ahead pal, try it on test machines and you will know that it is not that difficult.
There are real experts who help people like us in this forum and I know that they are doing a pretty good job.
    All the best.

  • OLAP option and 10g Standard Edition

    Hi,
I have a small question. I want to find out if it is possible to have the OLAP option for my DB if I possess a Oracle 10g Standard Edition, or Standard Edition One license.
I've checked the product note for EE, SE and SE One. Only EE contains a word about OLAP option. But as its just an Option, can't we have it with SE also?
    Thanks
    Goga

Oracle is kind enough to document this information. I encourage you to become familiar with the 'Licensing' document, and in this case, the first 2 paragraphs of chapter 2.
For your convenience, I've provided the link to that doc for 10gR2:

  • How to migrate MS SQL Server OLAP data to Oracle 10g OLAP

    Hi,
Anyone has any idea on whether migration workbench can migrate my MS SQL Server OLAP data to Oracle 10g (with OLAP option) ?
    Best Regards,
    Ian Ho

    Ian,
What exactly do you mean by SQL*Server OLAP ? Is it just a 'normal' SQL*Server database which is used for an OLAP application ?
The migration workbench migrates schema objects, triggers, and stored procedures and is not concerned with the application that uses those objects.
And the same with the Oracle OLAP database. Once the data etc has been moved into the database you can then use it for whichever application you want.
If you have concerns apart from moving the actual data then please give us more details.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Comparing schema using OEM 10g

    Hi,
IS there any way to compare schema from 2 different schema for Prod and test environments using OEM 10g.
I have a comparison script which will work for mr but the report generated is not easily readeble.
Please point out the steps if there is any option to do so in OEM 10g. My database version is 9i.
    Thanks
    Anky

You can use Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control or SQL Developer, in either case you need to have the change management pack licensed other then that you are looking at 3rd party tools such as Toad, older version of OEM or custom scripts.
You can try some of these tools which include scripts, etc. as these may also be of help to you.

  • OLAP Option enabled?

I installed Oracle DB 10g. I don't understand if the OLAP Option is already enabled (during install i was not asked for). I need it enabled because want now to install Analytical workspace Manager and after that the Discoverer etc.
The DB Config. Assistant also gave no help, because its wizard showed me the OLAP Option checked, but greyed out.
How can one test if the OLAP option is installed? and how to install the OLAP Option?

To configure the Oracle OLAP option you need to install the Enterprise Edition of the Oracle Database with the Data Warehouse database configuration. While installing Oracle Database just remember to choose Advanced Installation at the "Welcome to the Oracle Database 10g Installation" screen and the appropriate screens will follow.
To check your Oracle Database for Oracle OLAP:
    1) Make sure you have the Enterprise Edition of the Oracle Database 10g.
    SQL> select banner from v$version where banner like 'Oracle%';
You should see Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition.
    2) Make sure you have the Data Warehouse database configuration or the OLAP Option enabled.
    SQL> select parameter, value from v$option where parameter='OLAP';
    You should see OLAP TRUE.
So how do you add the OLAP option to an existing Oracle Database Enterprise Edition?
Assuming that you created your database manually or via DBCA...
    Oracle9i Release 2:
    conn / as SYSDBA

  • ISQLPlus on OEM 10g

Does anyone know the best way to install iSQL Plus on a OEM 10g Grid Contrls installation. The documentation says that iSQL Plus is installed as part of the database. But my OEM installation is on a server that does not have a separate DB installed. Also I am managing a number of 9.2 databases which do not have iSQL.

You should be able to install just iSQL*Plus, but I tried this the other day and it failed. I've logged a bug and hopefully it should be fixed in an upcoming patch set.
Another option is to just use the one install of iSQL*Plus to connect to all the other databases you need to manage. Just set up the database connection information in your tnsnames.ora file, and log into to those databases using the one install of iSQL*Plus.
You can also restrict the databases to which iSQL*Plus can connect by editing web.xml to include the aliases for the other databases, and you'll get a drop down list on the login screen.
I know this doesn't really answer your question, but it might help you by not having to install all those other instances.

  • OEM 10g - reorganize tablespace error on invalid sort area size

    Hi all,
When I try to reorganize a tablespace with OEM 10g, I get an error in the 3rd step (options) saying :
Invalid value for sort area size. The minimum value is 96 KB. My SGA management is set to AUTO.
Why this error on sort size area ?
    Thanks for your help.

Found a workaround. ( Not a real answer to the "why" )
    My settings were : pga_aggregate_target : 400 MB
    work_area_policy : AUTO
Following the documentation the sort_area_size should then default to 20% of SGA ( which is 1200MB ), and should thus be 240 MB, largely sufficient I would think ...
I now changed the work_area_policy to MANUAL, and the sort_area_size to 100MB, and then it works fine.
If anyone would have an explanation for this, it is still most welcome !

  • Oem 10g R2

Does anyone know when Oem 10g R2 is due out for windows.
I see the Linux version is already out?
Secondly I am having a problem with the installation of Oem 10g Grid Control.
I install Oracle 9i patch to 9.2.0.7 then installated Oem 10g Grid Control.
After the installation all of the db utilities stop working.
I thought initially the problem was the oracle home but the Oracle
Home Selector says there is only 1 Oracle Home.
    I installed Oracle 9i in d:\oracle\ora92
    and OEM in d:\oem10g.
Any idea on what could be causing this.
    Lsnrctl does not work?
Sqlplus say their is a nls problem.

Also, this is the answer, when we asked Oracle what version of database will it come with R2:
If you are referring to grid control 10.2.0.1.0 and are installing with the new database option, then
this would be a 10.1.0.4.0 database.
If you would be installing into an existing database, then you have the option of a 9.2.0.6 or 10.1.0.4 database, with 10.
2 being planned for the future.
