Olap option for 10g2

Hi All ,
I want to have the olap option enabled for Oracle database 10g r2. I had a look at this wiki ,but I am confused on which patch to install on top of the database.
Looks like there are couple of them ,so can somebody tell me which patch should be installed and also the download link for AWM that can be used with Db 10g r2.

Recommended database versions are listed on http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/olap/collateral/olap_certification.html
You can get AWM from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/options/olap/index.html

  • OLAP option and 10g Standard Edition

    Hi,
I have a small question. I want to find out if it is possible to have the OLAP option for my DB if I possess a Oracle 10g Standard Edition, or Standard Edition One license.
I've checked the product note for EE, SE and SE One. Only EE contains a word about OLAP option. But as its just an Option, can't we have it with SE also?
    Thanks
    Goga

Oracle is kind enough to document this information. I encourage you to become familiar with the 'Licensing' document, and in this case, the first 2 paragraphs of chapter 2.
For your convenience, I've provided the link to that doc for 10gR2:

  • Creation of OLAP Variable for Master data

    Dear BW Experts,
How to Create OLAP Variable for Master data  in SAP BW? What is the use of OLAP Variable?

The entry column Type (Variable) on the Select Data tabpage indicates a variable time frame in which the data should be requested. The variables are not replaced by concrete values until a request is made. There are eight options:
    Variable            Data request        Description
    0
                          Yesterday
                                            (12am – 12am)
    1
                         Last week
                                            (Monday-Sunday)
    2
                           Last month
                                            (1. (First day - last day of previous month)
    3
                           Last quarter
                                           (1. (First day - last day of previous quarter)
    4
                           Last year
                                          (01. (January 1 – Dec 31 of previous year)

                         <b>OLAP variables</b>
                                                See below
<b>Time selections with the help of the variables 0 to 4.</b>
The variables 0-4 only refer to date fields of the data type DATS.
    <b>User time selection</b>
Type 5 gives you a free selection of all fields.
If you select this variable for a field, confirm the selection, and then choose Detail for Type, an additional dialog box appears. In this dialog box you can freely limit the values of the fields and determine the next period value and the number of periods until a repetition.
Variables are placeholders for values and are not replaced by concrete values until a data request is made. You can also use a Variable for selections when requesting data for an InfoObject, if you choose type 7, confirm the selection, and then choose Detail for Type.

  • Oracle 10g OLAP option

    Hi all
Do we support creating a universe against an Oracle 10g OLAP database and how do we do this to report against OLAP data?
I notice that there isn't an OLAP universe option for this, so I presume that if we can then we do this via OLAP SQL expressions?
Thank you for your help and kind regards,
    Deam

    Hi,
You are right, we are supporting Oracle OLAP 10g using SQL.
In fact we provide an option in Universe Designer where you can automatically create an Oracle view based on an AW (Analytical Workspace) and then generate the universe:<ul><li>Select "Metadata exchange" menu option from "File" menu
<li>Then select "Oracle OLAP 9i/10G/11g" option
</ul>You can therefore customize the universe by adding objects, filters, measures, etc.
You can also add other tables in the scema in order to provide drill-though capabilities.
    Regards,
    Didier

  • Pre-fill the OLAP cache for a query on Data change event  of infoprovider

    Hi Gurus,
I have to pre-fill the OLAP cache for a query, which has bad performance.
I read a doc 'Periodic Jobs and Tasks in SAP BW'
which suggested sum steps to do this
i hav created the setting for Bex broadcasting for scheduling job Execution with data change in info provider
thereafter doc says  "an event has to be raised in the process chain which loads the data to this InfoProvider. When the process chain executes the process u201CTrigger Event Data Change (for Broadcaster)u201D, an event is raised to inform the Broadcaster that the query can be filled in the OLAP cache."
how can this b done please provide with sum proper steps
    Answers are always appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi
U need to create a process chain or use the existing process chain which you are using to load your current solution, just add event change process type in the process chian  and inside it add the info provider which are going to be affected.
Once you are done with this go to the broadcaster  and  create new setting for that query...you will see the option for event data chainge in infoprovider just choose that  and create the settings.
    hope it helps

  • Multiple dimensional olap hungs for more than 24 hours

    Hi, Experts
I am using multi dimensional olap for loading data in a cube, and it just hung there. I am using db 11.1.0.7 with olap option.
Check the session, and found the hung sql is
    BEGIN DBMS_CUBE.BUILD_SLAVE('SALES_AW83.SALES USING (LOAD, SOLVE) AS OF SCN 11682668986340' , 'P16' , 'JOB$
    _1145' , 15 , 1); END;
And the latest record in cube_build_log is
    16 1 "STARTED" "LOAD" "SALES" "CUBE" "" "MART" "SALES_AW83" "P16" "JOB$_1146" 19-JUL-10 05.24.29.134945000 AM "" "SLAVE" 1 "" "" 1 1 0
    Any suggestions for my situation?
    Thanks,
    Shawn

Some reasons I can think of why you may have experienced the hang during the LOAD step are
    (a) Too many rows in the partition. To get a 24+ load you would need to have many rows, probably in the billions per partition. Given that you can load the cube without partitioning, this is very unlikely.
    (b) Too many members in the generated IN list for the partition. As an example the server may generate
WHERE time IN ('JAN 2010', 'FEB 2010', 'MAR 2010')when the partition is 'Q1 2010'. This has 3 members in the IN list. I have seen problems when the number of members in the list exceeds 10,000. Looking at the current SQL statement being run by the server would tell you if this is happening.
    (c) Poorly configured system. 11g is easier to configure than 10g, but there are still OLAP specific recommendations. http://wiki.oracle.com/page/Oracle+OLAP+Option has some scripts and recommendations.
    (d) Some locking contention on underlying objects like tables. This is unlikely, but could happen. A pstack on the process could help diagnose this one.

  • 10g(OLAP option) upgrade from 10.1.0.4 to 10.2.0.1.0 version

    Hi,
I have the current setup up with 10g 10.1.0.4 version with OLAP option and AWM version 10.1.0.4 version.
Now, I want to the latest version with 10.2.0.1.0. Please let me know what the Patch have to install to upgrade the latest version.
    Your help is appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards

  • OLAP Option enabled?

I installed Oracle DB 10g. I don't understand if the OLAP Option is already enabled (during install i was not asked for). I need it enabled because want now to install Analytical workspace Manager and after that the Discoverer etc.
The DB Config. Assistant also gave no help, because its wizard showed me the OLAP Option checked, but greyed out.
How can one test if the OLAP option is installed? and how to install the OLAP Option?

To configure the Oracle OLAP option you need to install the Enterprise Edition of the Oracle Database with the Data Warehouse database configuration. While installing Oracle Database just remember to choose Advanced Installation at the "Welcome to the Oracle Database 10g Installation" screen and the appropriate screens will follow.
To check your Oracle Database for Oracle OLAP:
    1) Make sure you have the Enterprise Edition of the Oracle Database 10g.
    SQL> select banner from v$version where banner like 'Oracle%';
You should see Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition.
    2) Make sure you have the Data Warehouse database configuration or the OLAP Option enabled.
    SQL> select parameter, value from v$option where parameter='OLAP';
    You should see OLAP TRUE.
So how do you add the OLAP option to an existing Oracle Database Enterprise Edition?
Assuming that you created your database manually or via DBCA...
    Oracle9i Release 2:
    conn / as SYSDBA
    create tablespace CWMLITE datafile 'cwmlite01.dbf' size 20m autoextend on next 640k;
    @ ?/olap/admin/olap.sql
    @ ?/cwmlite/admin/oneinstl.sql CWMLITE TEMP;
    Oracle Database 10g:
    connect SYS as SYSDBA

  • Universe OLAP Options

    XI 3.1 with SAP Integration
I have created a universe based on a BW query.  According to the documentation, there should be OLAP options under Tools>Options but the only tabs I see are General, Save and Print/PDF.
What I am looking for are options to generate technical names, replace level prefixes etc.
What am I not seeing here?

    Ingo:
SP2 for the intergration kit, BO XI itself or both?
I'll check with our administrator.  I thought we were at the current SP.
Would it be maybe a good idea for you to create a sticky note in this forum describing how to determine install levels based on the version numbers for the various server and client components?

  • I cannot see the option for face time of open and close in iphone 4s

Plzzz tell me no facetime option for on and off is nott comming in settings help me plzzz

There is no FaceTime app for the iPhone if that's what you're asking.  FaceTime is accessible through your Contacts as one of the options in how to contact a person -- there is no standalone FaceTime app for iPhone.
If you mean how to disable FaceTime, you can do that in Restrictions (Settings/General/Restrictions).

  • Needing a multi-month and year-in-view option for ical!

    Hello all!
I could really use a multi-month and year-in-view format in ical... I've seen some dated posts - is anyone aware of any new developments/options for this?
    thanks and peace-
    DW

I turn off all calendars but the birthdays. Select [Print]. Choose all the months you want to see. Deselect all calendars but birthdays. Click [Continue]. On the next menu, go to "Layout", select how many pages to print on the paper. I usually print a border around each calendar then you're good to go!
By only printing the birthdays calenar, you won't get too many appointments to get in the way of brain storming and future planning, yet the computer still thinks its printing a useful calendar.

  • BODS : Datastore options for SAP R/3 - need clarity for use

    Hi All.
Another request to understand the datastore optiono n BOXI 3.1 BODS existing installation.
We are trying to pull a new table from SAP R/3 into BODS and we find that ABAP program is not getting generated as expected. And terminates. When we tested a simple workflow.
While creating a new datastore for SAP R/3 Source :
    When we look at the datastore we find the following options for R3 Source ;
    ABAP Execution option :
    Execute preloaded
    Generate and execute
    Under data transfer method we find ;
    Shared directory
    Direct download
    FTP
    Custom transfer
Then we have working directory on sap server
    local directory
    generated ABAP Directory
Am testing a simple workflow of pulling data from SAP R/3 in a dev machine.
    But am not understanding.
which option of ABAP Execution, and data transfer , path would work in co-ordination.
Because when i say direct download and say generate and execute it throws error.
Can anyone help me with combinations of the options to choose for a R/3 source. And the implications thereof.
I had created a folder under local bods server D:\Bodi. And given the path for data transfer.
But the files are not getting generated for whatsoever reasons.
Any advise on this would be helpful.
Also found a bit unusual, that there was no button to test the connection to be correct or not, a TEST connection button is not there. Which i felt, could be included.
Note : on the existing production system, we have chosen execute preloaded; shared directory on sap server. and shared that folder path for the user and given full rights. But while we try to do the same on the dev machine a test before transporting on production, a simple workflow does not work.
would like to know what settings on sap server, really affect the data store options on the BODS
    thanks
    indu

Indeed, BODS <> SAP connectivity can be tricky.
For a development environment, I suggest you select the option "Generate and execute" for your "ABAP Execution Option." What this means is that DS will create, on the fly, small-ish ABAP programs. These ABAP programs will be written, in plain text, to a local directory on the DS job server, in the folder specified in "Generated ABAP Directory".  You can see them in there after an attempted job execution, assuming the job involves the creation of an ABAP program.  The ABAP program name is specified in the properties of an ABAP data flow, under Options > ABAP Program Name.  If you can't, perhaps the DS job server process doesn't have full rights to that folder - ?  After being generated on-the-fly, they'll be transferred to SAP to execute.  The SAP user you use to connect to SAP must have sufficient rights to upload-and-execute these ABAP programs, and that's a fairly substantial set of rights. What's required is documented in the BODS supplement for SAP. Often, to get things running, your friendly local Basis admin will grant SAP_ALL to the DS user, to see what rights are being invoked.
Once all that jazz is working, you need to get the data back. There are a number of ways to do this. The method of data transfer is specified in "Data transfer method," where, ignoring "Custom transfer," you have three choices:
    1) Direct Download: easiest and slowest.  This method tells SAP to attempt to stick data in the client-side folder specified in "Local directory." Try this first.
    2) Shared folder: This is recommended when you have SAP being hosted on a Windows box. Basically: you set "Working directory on SAP Server" and "Data Services path to the shared directory" to point to the same folder.  SAP uses the "Working directory on SAP Server" to find this folder, and DS uses the other setting. So, for instance, if you were going to use the Shared folder method, you could set "Working directory on SAP Server" to "E:\BODS_Transfer", and, assuming E:\BODS_Transfer was shared-out as "BODS_Transfer", you could set "Data Services path to the shared directory" to
dev12.somecompany.com\BODS_Transfer .  Then, you'd need to setup all the relevant security, as both SAP and DS need rights to read and write files in this folder.
    3) FTP (this is the method I usually use): SAP writes the "transport files" you're after (i.e., the data) in the folder specified in "Working directory on SAP Server". Then, you need to establish ftp connectivity to that folder from the DS job server's perspective, which you do by entering the ftp host name and the path to that folder in "FTP host name" and "FTP relative path to the SAP working directory".  In my opinion, the "relative" business is a little confusing, and I just typically enter the full ftp path, beginning the path w/ a forward slash, like "/usr/sap/tmp/BOBJ" or something like that.  You also need to obtain a separate username and password for the ftp connectivity. Note that this name and password has NOTHING to do with the SAP username and password; you're just setting-up DS to act as an ftp client. I strongly encourage you to test ftp connectivity by using a regular ftp client from the DS job server and attempt to connect to your ftp host using the username and password you were given, and attempting to fetch some sample test file. If you can't do this, manually, then DS won't be able to do it, either.
    Best wishes,
    Jeff Prenevost

  • Can't see pricing options for Creative Cloud. :'(

    Two things, Adobe:
    1. When I try to click the "See All Plans" button on this page (Cloud-based software and services for creatives | Adobe Creative Cloud) I'm taken to a blank page (except for the unhelpful footer). The error console on my browser says there are a couple of errors, which are usually where this comes from.
    plans:237 -- ReferenceError: Can't find variable: s
    test_and_target.js:1:132 -- ReferenceError: Can't find variable: mboxDefine
I would love to see the pricing options for this service that you've built into all of your applications, but apparently I can't.
    2. Apparently the forum is the only way to tell you guys about technical problems?

    Hi ChristofferLu,
