OLAP Varaibles to WEBI

Hi,
We are creating WEBI reports on top of BW query Universe and the query contains the variables which gives the pop up to user to enter the values. While creating/running the WEBI reports the system is prompting me enter the BW variables(Optional). So, just wanted to know that is there any way to eliminate the default BW vaiable prompts.
And Also wanted to know that If i create a variable in WEBI then WEBI report fetches all data from BW then applies the filter or passes the filter to BW and then fetches the data.
Kindly let me know if anyone knows...
Regards,
Satya

Hi,
when you use a variable created in the underlying BW query for sure it will be processed on the backend.
when you want to create your own filters take a look here:

  • Best Practice to bring OLAP Universe and WebI Report to Production

What are the best ways to bring a WebI Report that is developed on a OLAP Universe (based on BEx Query) from Development to Production environment?
    Edited by: B.Wegner on Nov 8, 2010 2:54 PM

    1) Move your BEx query from SAP DEV to SAP PROD (SAP internal transport system)
    2) Move your report (incl. universe) using the LCM or the Import Wizard from your BOBJ DEV to your BOBJ PROD system
    3) Edit the universe connection in BOBJ PROD to point to your SAP PROD system.

  • Error when passing URL from OLAP Universe to WebI

    Hi Experts,
I am getting 'The Supplier XML is not valid' WebI error when passing a URL from OLAP Universe.
    URL example:
    '<a href="http://www.sap.com">web link</a>'
    I follow Universe Designer Guide:
    - typing above URL into Dimension Select statement
    - selecting Read As Hyperlink in Object Format.
When I drop this dimension into Result Objects panel in WebI Query and run refresh  'The Supplier XML is not valid' pops up.
What i am trying to achive is to create a pre-formatted as Hyperlink object (dimension) in WebI to make it available for a user to design ad-hoc reports.
    Please help
    Thanks

    Hi,
Refer the below forum link for more information:
Universe object format in Web Intelligence
I guess you can do some changes in the format of Universe object and use it in Webi.

  • Retrieving value of a Hierarchy Node Varaible in Web Template

Could somebody tell me, is it possible to retrieve the value of a variable when the characteristic is in free characteristics,
if possible how to Retrieve value of a Hierarchy Node Varaible.
    -Shashi

    Hi Kim,
you can use command for expand/collapse hierarchy nodes "SET_DRILL_STATE" for your DataProvider together with the print command "EXPORT". For a button group webitem you can build a command sequence in WAD.

  • Error when querying SSAS 2000 OLAP cube with WebI (BOXIR2)

    Hi,
I'd like to access a OLAP cube on Microsoft Analysis Server 2000 through Web Intelligence. The BO server is running BO XIR2 FP 5.7 on Windows Server 2003.
I've installed the pivot table services on the BO server and am able to connect to the SSAS. I then created a connection, and on top of that connection an universe. The universe categories and objects where retrieved from the cube.
When I now try to query the new universe, I get the following error message:
BusinessObjects115.OLAPI.Cube.1] : Failed to set properties (Database 'ITZD_2010' does not exist.).
ITZD_2010 is the name of the "folder" from which I selected the cube when creating the connection. The cube itself is called NFOTD and this name is also displayed as (not editable) database name in the connection details.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

In CCM i find 4 services:
    Apache
    Server Intelligence Agent

  • How to print sap bex query varaibles in webi report

    Dear Friends,
I created a webi Report on universe ( Based on SAP BW Bex Query with variables).
its working fine. Now i want to show the selected variable values on the top of my webi report.
How can i access and print my bex query variables on header of my webi report.
We are using BOE 3.1 SP2, SAP BI 7.02.
    Regards
    Malik

    Malik
That is default behavior of BO. The integration mapping from BI to BO will populates like that, COZ you made BI variable on top of Date dimension, which needs From and TO fields.
To display that info, what user has selected on the fly:
    As suggested, use UserResponse() function.
keep in mind, prompt text and userresponse text must be identical. Otherwise, it wont't work.
Eg: prompt Text: Enetr From Date:
Var: =UserResponse(Enter From Date:) -->> Results: (Blank)
Why?? Prompt text Enetr not Enter
    Hope it clears you.

  • Webi Reports Hyperlinks on top of OLAP Universe

    Hi Webi Gurus,
    my BoBJ version 3.1 sp3
    BW-OLAP universe.
I checked below Link for the solution, but couldn't
get answer, as these are based on relational universes.
    /people/erika.atencio2/blog/2011/04/14/creating-hyperlinks-between-webi-reports-in-infoview
I have a OLAP universe. On top of it, there are two reports
One parent report and one child report.
Question: I have a column called Auction Id on parent report.
Now, when I click on any of the Auction Id values, child report
should only bring data for that Auction Id alone and not other Auction Ids.
In the child report, I have Auction Id as query filter.
Now while in Webi's Interactive Mode, I chose the option
Select Column--> Create Hyperlink --> Link to a document -->
Document prompts: Prompt User in runtime.
    This option works fine.
However, when I change the Document Prompt to:
             Select Object (or) Build Formula
report throws MDX error, during run-time,
    Please suggest.
    MDX error:
    ========================================================================
The query failed to execute with the error Value for the Characteristic.....WIS 10901
    ==================================================================================
    Regards,
    AK

    Still getting error...I tried this
    >> 1. In the detail webi report, create a query filter for AuctionID and use Equal operator. Give the prompt text as ActionID.
    AK: Done
    >> 3. In the column properties, in the display section select display cell content as HTML.
    AK: Done
When I provide the URL and Parse it throws following error.
    "Invalid identifier a at position 15. (WIS 10022) "
I gave following URL and parsed it.
    ="<a href="http://sapbojdev:8080/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?
    iDocID=18774&lsSAuction ID="URLEncode([Auction ID])"&sRefresh=Y
Q: Is there any problem with syntax?
Q: Secondly, for OLAP universe based webi report , can't we use the hyperlink option:
    Link to  Document
    Thanks,

  • Difference Between BEx Web and Web Intelligence

    Hi,
Could someone help me understand why someone would want to choose SAP BW BEx Web over Web Intelligence (apart from license issues)?
Web Inteligence is a very strong tool from a UI point of view and has can do most of the functions that SAP BW BEx Web can. WebI allows users to actually create your own reports.
A couple of drawbacks with WebI
    -  I can see is that Web Intelligence does not handle SAP BW hiearchies very well (i.e. they are not shown in a hierachical manner).
    - WebI holds the data within the report which can mean long run times. BEx Web only brings back data for fields that are shown in the report
I have heard people saying that BEx Web is an OLAP tool and WebI is not. How does this make a difference?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    take a look here:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com//irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/d00ae0a1-8086-2d10-118c-f35b8e604bc4
BEx is an OLAP Tool and Web Intelligence for sure not - means that Web Intelligence is not designed for multi-dimensional concepts.

  • Universe based on SAP HANA OLAP connection

Can I create universe based on SAP HANA OLAP connection ?
How can i access SAP HANA view which was created using OLAP connection in WEBI and Dashboard? It does not allow creating Universe on top of SAP HANA OLAP connection and give an error.
SAP BusinessObjects query and reporting applications can directly connect to OLAP SAP HANA connections. No universe is required, only a published OLAP SAP HANA connection.
    Thanks

OLAP connection are only meant for tools that make use of OLAP connectivity only like BEx ..and HANA analytic views and calculated views are also treated as OLAP cubes for them..
So these connection is only available with analysis product like Analysis Office (which is meant to be used with Bex or OLAP cubes ) and Design studio which is again mainly built around OLAP paradigm..
You can not create a universe or Webi on Olap connection on HANA as of now.. However it could be like exposed in a future release of BO which is not public yet...

  • Error querying OLAP universe based on BEx query

    Hi all,
I have a problem extracting larger (more than 80 000 rows) amounts of data through querying an OLAP universe with WebI.
    The error is:
    Query 1 - NAME_OF_THE_QUERY
A database error occurred. The database error text is: Error in MDDataSetBW.GetCellData. &INCLUDE INCL_INSTALLATION_ERROR. (WIS 10901)
The error occurs when I define larger scope of analysis in the query (four levels). With more modest scope (three levels or less) it's working OK. I need larger data set (more than 200 000 rows) to be populated at night through scheduling the report. We can't afford shrink the scope of analysis because it will hit the BW server during the day when it's needed by other users.
Besides this the speed of the report refresh is very slow - more than 3 minutes per just 400 rows of data. I'm still unable to identify the source of the problem with this slowdown. Executing the same query over the web through the SAP BW BEx Viewer is much much faster - just 3 seconds. Maybe the reason for this is that the BEx viewer aggregates data on the higher level of the hierarchy rather than down to transaction level (like we do by expanding the scope of analysis).
Anyway, if anyone have ideas about the error above I'll be very grateful if you share your thoughts. Thanks!
    Our environment:
    BO EDGE BI 3.1, standard
    SAP BW 3.0
SAP Integration Kit (all transports installed)
    BW user with full access

    Ingo,
Could you point me to an official SAP document regarding the 1 million cells limitation, which describes the exact version and patch level for SAP BW which removes this limitation? It will be very helpful for me because I have to convince the client to migrate BW from 3.0 to 7.01 if it will solve this limitation.
    Thank you in advance!
    Ivan
BTW I have installed SP2 + FP2.1 and now the SAP integration is not functional, but I have opened another thread for this problem.

  • Webi limitations on SAP BW

    Hi Experts,
I am working on a project using BO XI 3.1 and SAP BI 7.1.
We want to use SAP BW Infocubes, BW Queries as data source to WebI reports. We know there are some limitations on the WebI side and all the features won't be availble like relational database on SAP BW sources. I am specifically looking for the following inputs:
    1.  when you set up publications (particularly email ditribution) are there any known limitations (other than one fetch for each reciepient)? can report be distributed with appropiate data being filted as per user's role (Assuming proper roles are setup on BW side and same are imported in BO) ?
e.g. User A should get the report in email with data for region A only
User B should get the report in email with data for region B only
Reason iam asking is, i could find some posts where users have reported some issues with bursting feature.
    2. Can be complex calcution & key figures be done at webi side? I read it in one SAP article that it is recommended to do this in a BEX query? Need more details on the why its not advisable to do it in WebI? Is this because limited fuctions are avaible for olap on the webi side? or just for performance reasons?
    Thanks
    Sushil.

    Hey Sushil,

If all the Roles/Authorizations mapped correctly, then BO will work perfectly.
Can you post what the problems you faced??

YEP, because of performance as first concern, Exit(User/Customer/SAP) functionality.
It is not like that WebI has less functions, It means, we have to do/use many formulas or combination of functions to get exact data.
Per my experience, Complex conditions I made it in WebI only, worked well.
    Gracias...!!

  • WebI error when running against SAP BW

    Hi all,
I run a WebI query against BW 7 (XI3.0) and it display the following errors:
MDDataSetBW.GetCellData   No more storage space available for extending an internal table.  (WIS 10901)
To me it seems like a database resources issue.  So how can we further troubleshoot this?
Or is there any performance tuning can be made on BO side?
    Regards,
    Derek

    Hi Derek,
Means if you include all the items into the Web Intelligence query then they will retrieve data and based on the error message it is pretty clear that you are asking for too much data and running most likely out of memory in the backend.
Try to have less dimensions in the query panel and you will have no error, remember this is not an OLAP tool, the WEBI converts the query to MDX and obtain all the information in WEBI to create the microcube, if you have less dimensions the microcube is smaller and the data you need to retrieve from BW is smaller too.
    Best regards,

The SSO works correctly on Analysis for OLAP.
The Authentication used is the SAP authentication.
    Thanks.
    Andrea

That's what we're doing in our 4.1 instance as well.
After a lot of troubleshooting, it looks like our problem is related to the SSO set up itself.  We set the OLAP Connection to Pre-defined, entered the SAP credentials of one of our developers, then saved the connection.  We were able to refresh existing reports and create new reports without any issues.  We changed the OLAP connection back to SSO and received the same error message as in OP when we tried to select a BEx query.
I'm going to go through the entire SSO set up again.  There was a BW hotfix applied throughout our environments, thinking it might have messed something up.

  • BEx query not shown in BO 4.0; BICS

    Hi,
I have a sample BEx query designed in Query Designer 7.x; I would like to use this query with Web Intelligence of BO 4.0. However, the query is not being displayed.
In CMC -> Authentication we have entered our SAP BW system and we are getting the roles imported. So the connection seems to work.
In the query I have turned on the option "Allow External Access to this Query" (but I think this isn't necessary for BICS?).
However, the query isn't displayed when creating a new WebI document based on BEx. Do I have to do some more steps?
    Thanks!
Edit: I now created a new OLAP connection, our BO server can see the query and cube. But: I don't see this OLAP connection in Web Intelligence Rich Client. I am using the administrator login and have full access.

    Hi,
I have created 2 OLAP connection in CMC with SSO and Predefined. (does not work with prompt).
I can see the list of queries from cube with predefined connection, but all are gredout!!. what could be the reason?
With SSO connection i get following error -
com.google.protobuf.UninitializedMessageException: Message missing required fields: bytesValue
    Any input is much appreciated.
    Thanks.
