Old collections in mgmt_metrics_raw

oms - 10204
repository - 10203
Note automatic partition maintenance is in effect for grid 10204.
I have around 9,000 rows appear in the mgmt_metrics_raw table that have a last collection date older than 7 days.
In fact, the records all have a date of May 2009.
I check this table for old records every single day and they have appeared over the weekend.
All records relate to ONE target.
the records are across multiple metrics.
Just to compound things, the target in question is actually monitored by two OMS's (via two separate agents) - and the problem is replicated on both.
dbms jobs are there and running. The proof of this, is that the partitions for the main tables are being maintained.
I have opened an SR with oracle on this, but wondering if anyone has any thoughts

Read the Grid documentation, seriously.
The reason I say that, in the "Enterprise Manager Advanced Configuration" doc, there is a chapter called "Sizing and Maximizing the Performance of Oracle Enterprise Manager".
In there is a section, "Offline Monthly Tasks". That discusses partition maintenance. Grid creates a new partition every day in some tables, and every month or so, old partitions should be dropped. There is a caveat, search on this forum for partition maintenance, some people, including me, have encountered issues using this, so read these old threads, they will save you some heartache.
Why are you exporting the sysman schema anyway? If you say backup, I'll scream... ;-)

  • Floating Dead Threads and old collection

    We run an application inside a "container" (for lack of a better word) that creates threads to try and connect outgoing connections. We have hundreds of these outgoing connections defined and most of them end up getting connected. A few (5-6?) however remain unconnected (there isn't a listener on the other side, the IP is pointing to a loopback address, etc.). This causes the container to create threads every few seconds (per connection) to try and connect these connections.
    We finally turned on memdbg for -Xverbose and we see that all of our old garbage collections are because of "Floating Dead Threads." Below is a sample of the gc logging.

    I have a ticket opened with the vendor to see if there's a way to stop creating all these threads (I imagine the answer is going to be do not define connections that won't get connected). My question here is the following: Is there a way to make JRockit not perform an old collection for these final handles of the dying threads?
    The current JVM parameters are:
    DEBUGGCFLAGS="-Xverbosetimestamp -Xverbose:gc,memory,memdbg -Xverboselog=/home/core/CORE/ttDESCore/bin/gc_output.core2.txt -Xmanagement:ssl=false,authenticate=false"
    GCFLAGS="-Xmx24g -Xns512m -XgcPrio:pausetime -XpauseTarget=400ms -XXcallProfiling -XlargePages -XXlargeObjectLimit:8k -XXnoSystemGC"
    Thx for any help!

    Finally a reply! :) Thanks for taking the time to respond. A few points:
    1) Sun's JVM doesn't seem to have this problem (or at least it doesn't trigger an old collection like JRockit). Any ideas as to why?
    2) The finalizers are actually not in our application code (it's vendor code). For whatever reason, any connections (these are TCP/IP connections) that we define as initiate=true, the vendor creates a thread for each connection every 5 seconds to try and make the connection. If it succeeds the thread lives to perform additional work (and hence no finalizer needed). If it does not connect, the thread dies and a finalizer is added.
    3) There were two connections that we had that did not make a successful connection so I had operations disable those connections. As soon as we did that, the "Add 1 handle for dying thread..." message went away in the memdbg log. However, JRockit still insisted on performing an old GC every 1.5 minutes for 'Floating Dead Threads'. Any idea why the old GC would still happen for this reason? Is it because all the finalizers still haven't been cleaned up?
    A question about the finalize() method and finalizers. I looked through our code and we create about 80 objects that have a finalize() method implemented. These objects never go out of scope (so in reality, I suppose the finalize method doesn't need to be there). Does leaving it defined still hurt the gc performance? Or do finalizers only causes problems (i.e. kick off old gcs) once they become garbage?
    Thx,
    Josh

  • Old Collection replaced my new Collection becavse of a linked IMG #

    I created an edited photo collection.  A few weeks later I wanted to retrieve that collection so I covld bvrn it onto a cd.  I vsed an IMG # from the DMG file to call vp the edited collection.  I vse my sd cards over and over again, so sometimes several photos are displayed that have the same IMG #.  I chose the wrong photo (a photo from an old collection) as the photo I wanted in my new collection and Lightroom changed my whole new collection into the old one - now I can't get my new collection at all... vnless I go back to the DMG files and re-edit the whole collection again.  How do I get Lightroom to reverse that process?

    A few weeks later I wanted to retrieve that collection so I covld bvrn it onto a cd.  I vsed an IMG # from the DMG file to call vp the edited collection.
    I'm not following you here, to call up a collection, normally you click on the Collection name on the left, in the "Collections Panel". There are other ways of calling up a collection, using the "badge" on a photo, or right-click on a photo and select "Go To Collection". None of these matches your description. Please state in much more detail how you called up the "edited collection"; please state exactly where you clicked you mouse and/or exactly what menu commands were used.
    What do you mean by an "edited collection"? Lightoom has Smart Collections, regular (static) Collections and Quick Collections.
    Lightroom changed my whole new collection into the old one
    Again, I can't imagine what you mean. Please give the exact sequence of steps here, exactly what did you click your mouse on, exactly what menu commands were used, etc.
    Please state your operating system and version of Lightroom.
    Last request: please use the letter u when the letter u is required, do not use the letter v to indicate the letter u. Thank you.

  • Can an old collection be reported as recently opened?

    I was looking at DH's credit report on Credit Karma today and it shows a "new collection added". The first collection bill I can find for this cell phone debt is 7/27/2013. The next bill with a new company is dated 2/6/2014. In May of this year, my husband got a letter from a third collection company who now owned the debt. So why are we getting a new alert on his credit report which states "one new debt was transferred" opened 4/14/2015 and last reported 6/19/2015? Is this something we can dispute because they're making it seem like it's a new debt? It was originally defaulted on with Verizon sometime in 2012 when hubby lost his job.

    A debt collector can report the Open date for their collection as being the date they received their collection authority. It has nothing to do with the date of the debt, and is separate from the Open date of the creditor account. Any reorted collection, regardless of when Opened or reported, has a credit report exclusion date of no later than 7 years plus 180 days from the date of your first delinquency (DOFD) on the account with the original creditor (OC).The debt collector was required to obtain the DOFD from the OC and report that date to the CRA no later than 90 days after they reported their collection.That is the date you need to check for accuracy.

  • JRMC FlightRecording - Old Collection Long Pauses

    I'm trying out Mission Control v4.0.1 (M4.0.1-19, 134472), verifying a Tomcat 7 installation using XgcPrio:deterministic (running a 3rd party Java EE application).
    I am running FlightRecordings to view the GC pauses. Most of them come under the target set in pauseTarget (30,50,90). But I see a huge pause (8x) a few seconds after the start of the recording period, and a few seconds before the end. Is there any reason for this? This is confirmed on two separate servers.
    Jon

    From the docs:
    "It is sometimes a good idea to leave out the first and last garbage collections from the
    analysis, depending on the recording settings. Some settings will force the first and
    last GC in the recording to be full garbage collections with exceptional compaction,
    to gather extra data. This may very well break the pausetime target for deterministic
    GC. This is also true for JRockit Flight Recorder"

  • Lost old LR Collections when adding Creative Cloud...

    I had LR5.6 as a program on my MacBook Pro 10.8.
    Downloaded LR/PS Creative Cloud.
    I now have what seems to be a NEW version of LR in CC.
    The OLD LR5.6 is GONE with all my collections.
    Kindly advise how to retrieve all my old collections.

    When you say you have no collections, do you mean that you 1) have no photos in your library at all or do you mean 2) that you have photos (under the Folders section of the Library), but nothing under the Collections section of the Library?  As far as I understand, collections are stored inside of the LR Database so if the re-installed LR 5.6 opened an older copy of the database or created a new database, then you might experience things missing.  Assuming this is the case, search your machine for a filename of the form "Lightroom 5 Catalog.lrcat".  Mine is located in a subfolder in the Pictures/Lightroom folder  -- your location might be different.  If you can find the correct version of the file and open it with LR, then I'm guessing your problem will be resolved.  The standard LR 5.6 is the same as the LR CC 5.6 so I wouldn't expect there to be any problems with reading the database.
    Hope this helps,
    Brian

  • Overwrite existing collection field:: shouldn't it delete old elements

    I call a setter method and wholly replace a collection field of a
    persistent object with an entirely new collection. (the collection is
    made up of other persistence-capable objects).
    I'm not seeing the old collection contents removed from the DB, infact,

    I've marked the collection as "element-dependent" and that didn't work

    How is this supposed to work?

    Sorry, I did not read enough to realize that "dependent" says that if the
    field in the parent class is nulled, then the object is deleted. So I
    think I have my answer.

    No. Your best bet is to mediate access to the Collection that will also
    delete the instance when the element is removed. E.g.,
    public void deleteElementFromMyCollection (Object ob)
    myCollection.remove (ob);
    JDOHelper.getPersistenceManager (ob).deletePersistent (ob);

    My
    guess is that you are not setting both sides of the relation. I.e.if
    you have a collection of people, each of whom have a reference totheir
    company, you should also set the people's company to null as well as
    removing the set.

  • Problem with collection names getting replaced when creating new collections in Photoshop Elements 5.0

    We have been using Photoshop Elements 5.0 a lot lately to organize many photos into collections.  A new problem just arose when creating a new collection.
    As we named the new collection and clicked on "OK" it replaced another existing collection with the new name.  The photos from the old collection were still there but now under the new collection name.  This happened at least three or four times, each time a different "old" collection was renamed.  Does anyone know why this would happen?
    This past week we have added at least 20 new collections with no problem prior to this.  Adobe actually had to shut down when this happened.  Each time we reopened Adobe it would happen again randomly renaming a different "old" collection when we tried to add the new one.  Any insights would be much appreciated.

    Thank you - that was the problem and now it is working correctly
    again!

    There is no reason in this case to use BULK COLLECT.
    You should only use PL/SQL if you can't do it using SQL.
    You can do it using SQL: you should use SQL.
    Other than that: just read the error message, realize you can't directly use a collection involved in a fetch, just set up an extra collection and assign the old collection to the new.
    The code is wrong anyway, as it doesn't allow for more than one fetch.

  • Recover deleted collection members

    Hi All,
    Need some direction in handling a situation where there was a deletion of members in one of the collection which resulted in removing all reporting SCCM clients from all collections. This went unnoticed as the main admin was on vacation. Now we have new
    collection members and have a DB backup which has the old collection members.
    What would be the best way of getting the data from the backup restored to the production so we have the collection members in all collections as before, maintain the newly made changes after the deletion and ensure that this process does not rerun the advertisements
    on the end users system during the entire process.
    Thanks in advance
    -Vijay

    The resources have come back in All systems and are missing from the advertised collections as they were added as Direct members. We are now checking if there is a way in adding these machines (manually if needed) without triggering the advertisement.
    Is there a way you can guide me in that way or something similar. We do not want the end users getting the advertisements again and majority of them having to get the customization back after the re-install caused
    -Vijay

    About 3 years ago I was working for Ubisoft building Java games. Back then (jdk 1.1.8), the fastest way to produce images with effects and all was to manipulate the image as an array of pixels (int[], ARGB) and to use a MemoryImageSource to produce the image.
    Now I feel like building a game for the fun of it, but I'm lost in all the new stuff they added. First of all, I just wanted to have an image built on an array of pixels. So I tried the following code :
    DirectColorModel model = new DirectColorModel(32,0x00ff0000,0x0000ff00,0x000000ff,0xff000000);
    WritableRaster raster = model.createCompatibleWritableRaster(640, 480);
    int[] array = new int[640 * 480];
    for (int i = 0; i < array.length; i++)
    array[i] = 0x00ff0000;
    raster.setPixels(0, 0, 640, 480, array);
    BufferedImage img = new BufferedImage(model, raster, true, null);
    panel.getGraphics().drawImage(img, 0, 0, this);
    First, I get an ArrayIndexOutOfBounds on the setPixels() call. Why is that ? I mean, I specified the width and height to 640 * 480 but seems that the raster does not have the same widht and height ???
    And second, if I use like setPixels(0,0,40,40,array), it displays some weird color scheme but in the array, I set all the pixels to 0x00ff0000 (red).
    Could anyone help to get started ? I guess I am missing something here.
    BTW, if anyone is interested in having a colloection of nice functions to manipulate arrays of pixels, I can send my old collection through e-mail.
    Max, former game prog, but da** lost in all this...

    Could anyone help to get started ? I guess I am missing something here.Useful API documentation? The whole area of Rasters seems to me to be thoroughly undocumented.
    I don't know whether you've had a look at the source code for java.awt.GradientPaintContext (it's a package-private class). Rather than use setPixels(int, int, int, int, int[]), they use internal knowledge about the type of WritableRaster returned.
    I think that if you want to understand what's going on, you'll have to wade through the source code (and it's not at all well commented).
    Incidentally, what wierd colour scheme do you get? Is it a consistent block of colour, and if so can you paint your image onto a BufferedImage and use getRGB(int, int) to find out its value?
