Old ipod, new iphone

Hi there!  We are giving our daughter, who currently owns an ipod4, an iphone.  Right now since she was only 12 at the time she got her ipod, she is using my itunes account where her ipod is synced up to.  She also has her own laptop now, so we're going to let her create an itunes account for her ipod and her iphone.  Can we do that or do we have to somehow disconnect her ipod from my account before we sync it with her new computer?

Hello babibluone,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. To use your iPod with your new account and library, you can restore it to factory settings. You can then sync your files it and free up some space on your iPhone.

  • Stolen iPod, new iPhone. I want the previous iCloud on the new iPhone

    Hello,
On holiday my iPod was stolen. It has a passcode lock, cracked screen and terrible battery, so i doubt anyone has got much use out of it. I now have an iPhone 4s and want to restore the pictures and notes from the previous iPod onto my new phone.
Earlier in the year I thought i lost all my photos and notes off my iPod but managed to restore them through the iCloud. I want to know if I can get the data from my old iPod onto my new iPhone.
Thanks in advance for any help.

If you backed up the iPod to iCloud, then yes, you can restore that backup of data to the new iPhone by logging into your account on the iPhone. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12522

  • Migrating data from old to new iPhone?

I have an older (1st gen) iPhone and am planning to upgrade to a new 3GS next week. Is there an easy way to migrate my data from one phone to the other? By "data," I mean things like:
    - Application settings
    - Stored WiFi networks
    - Paired Bluetooth devices
    - Layout of icons
    - etc.
(I know that the standard stuff like songs, contacts, e-mail, are all pretty easy to move.)
Is there a way to just tell iTunes to migrate everything over to the new phone? (And, if so, what is included in "everything"?)
I ask in part because of an experience I had once with my old phone. The phone had died and when I plugged it into my computer, iTunes gave me a message asking if this "new" iPhone should be replaced with the data from <name of my iPhone>. I said yes, and it seems like most settings were transferred (though not all -- the layout of icons, for example.) Will this same thing happen when I first plug in the 3GS? If so, does anyone know specifically what will be carried over... and what will happen the next time I plug in my old iPhone (the one that apparently will be turning into a glorified iPod Touch)?
    Thanks!
    -Mike

The first time you connect your iPhone 3GS to your Mac, you will be prompted to transfer the backup for your first generation iPhone to your iPhone 3GS. You should sync your first generation iPhone immediately before doing so to update the backup for the iPhone if needed.
The backup includes data such as most iPhone settlngs, email account settings, SMS messages, Notes, recent calls, call favorites, photos in your iPhone's camera roll, and 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app. Not the apps (which must be transferred from your iTunes library, and not your home layouts for 3rd party apps.
You can use your no longer activated first generation iPhone as an iPhone Touch, but in order to complete the process for a firmware update and the same when restoring the iPhone with iTunes if wanted or needed, you need to leave the no longer activated SIM card inserted in the iPhone - the SIM card that was used with the iPhone when the iPhone was activated.

  • (URGENT) Old iPod, new iTunes.

-I have 444 songs on my iPod that I got from sources other than the iTunes Store.
-I have a new computer. I can't access my old iTunes.
-I am NOT going to download four hundred and forty four songs just because iTunes has a terrible (I'm being polite ) help section.
-It doesn't say 'import iPod' anywhere.
-The only known way to delete songs off your iPod is to remove them from your library and then sync.
    -This library, naturally, is empty.
-As you can imagine, I am +very, very happy+ about this.
-Tell me how I can sync my iTunes to my iPod, not the other way round.

    Hi!
If you have purchased songs from the iTunes Music Store, then those are pretty easy to transfer to your computer. You'll just need to follow [this instructions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305465].
All your other songs (for example, those ripped from your CD's), you'll need to use any 3rd party program to transfer them to your iTunes library!
Some can also transfer your playlists, videos, ratings, podcast...

  • TRansfer of data from old to new Iphone

got an new iphone 5s and on the itune backup wrongly selected backup as a new phone instead of restore backup from old phone, so cannot transfer anything from old phone to new, can anyone help?? thank you

Thank you Peter but unfortunately I have passed the point were I could chose to back up from old phone. As I mentioned, I incorrectly selected set up as a NEW phone in Itune. So now I don't know how to get the new phone to backup from the old one. I assume that going back to the set up stage of the new Iphone would help but don't know how to get there... any help will be appreciated...thx

  • Old Computer, New Iphone

I have a MacBook 10.4.11 and a new new Iphone (4G) from Veriozon. I plugged the phone into the computer for the first time and it said that my version of itunes was too old (9.something). I tried to download the new itunes, but apparently my computer is too old and decrepit. Is there any way for me to sync my new iphone on my computer?

If you have an Intel MacBook, just buy a Snow Leopard upgrade disc for $30 and install the OS upgrade. When that finished, download and install the iTunes update. Then connect your iPhone.
If you have a G4 or G5 processor in your Mac, then you will need a copy of Leopard (OS-X v10.5). I have heard that you can call Apple and speak directly with a specialist and still buy a copy of Leopard, but it is not available in their online store from what I have heard. Once you get your copy of Leopard, install it, then download and install the iTunes update and connect your iPhone.

  • Can't copy some songs from old to new iphone

I have some songs on my old Iphone that are listed on my computers itunes, but aren't actually on my computer (they have a small exclaimation mark by them). I can't get these particular songs onto my new iphone. I get a message that could not transfer because the original file could not be found.

Of course you cannot get them onto the phone, as you stated, they are not on the computer.
It is impossible for iTunes to sync content to an iDevice that does not actually exist on the computer.
Restore the missing files from the backup of your computer.  You do have a backup of your important data, correct?

  • Not all text messages and photos transferred from old to new iPhone

Old iPhone 4 backed up via iTunes successfully.  Then plugged in new iPhone 5C, restored from the backup of the old iPhone 4.  Things seemed to be working okay, but for some reason I only have text messages that up to June 24, 2013.  Same thing with phone calls and photos.  All the records stop at 6/24.  The old phone definitely has more data on it, in photos, messages and phone calls.
    Not sure.

  • Transfer SMS from old to new iPhone

I have a new iPhone, but during initial setup I did not restore from a backup but chose to do a clean setup. Now I want to move my SMS text messages stored in the old iPhone to my new iPhone. I identified the file where the messages are stored (3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28 .mddata) but replacing it in a backup of the new iPhone and then restoring doesn't help (restore error).
How can I manage to have my old messages on my new iPhone? Any help to the above or a software tool somewhere?? (there are many to backup but here it is to also transfer!)

It is my intention to only transfer the SMS messages. I want to avoid to transfer all kind of old caches, temporary files, old passwords etc. I want a clean system, and my messages. Is there any way to do this (not using iTunes backup/restore)?

  • Transfer data from old to new iPhone after setup

I Got a new iPhone today and they set it up in the store using my iCloud accout be it hasn't been updated in a few months so the data was out of date. I'm trying to transfer the data from the old phone to the new one using iTunes but I can't figure out how after doing the initial setup? I haven't really used the phone yet so I dont mind doing a factory reset as long as it won't effect my cell and data ( I don't want to have to go back to the store).

You need to plug in your old iPhone first. Then, select backup in iTunes 12. After finishing backup, plug in your new iPhone. You can choose to Restore Backup in the iTunes 12 which you had backup on your old iPhone.

  • Old Ipod,New computer.No response.Is it Window's Vista's fault?

Alright here is my problem: I have been syncing music into my two year old ipod nano on my old computer. My old computer died a year ago, however,so my ipod hasn't received new music for an entire year.I finally get a new laptop a few weeks ago and am ready to start a new. I've downloaded the latest itunes and then I plug my ipod in and absolutley nothing happens. The little image of the ipod doesn't appear,it doesn't charge, and it isn't even asking if I want to replace my old music with the new music I've compiled on my itunes. I've tried switching on and off hold and I've pressed menu and select at the same time. Still nothing happens.I don't have time to go to a store for help so please HELP ME!!

Have you had a chance to look at these troubleshooting pages? They may be of some help:
iPod not recognized when connected to Windows laptop over USB
iPod is not recognized properly by computer when USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date
iPod missing in My Computer and in iTunes

  • Old Ipod New Itunes

Going through my room i found a very old Ipod Mini, and i want to see what music ihad on it, but the screen is totaly cracked and you cant see anything, when i plugg it into my comouter nothing happens, is there anything i can do? or is it a lost cause?

    Hey...
I've got this really annoying problem I cannot solve.
My iPod shuffle was and still is working properly,
but I've got a new computer now and new iTunes on
that same computer. When I connect my iPod to this
new computer it recognizes it, but doesn't want to
work (transfering music etc.) unless I restore my
iPod. I tried to do that but my iPod was restoring
for about 5 hours, and then I gave up cause obviously
something was wrong. Can anyone tell me how can I use
    my iPod on two computers??
Bad news... the Shuffle only syncs to one iTunes (and computer) at a time. Each time you synce it to a different one, the contents are wiped...
And why doesn't it want to
    restore properly??
Don't know... but you could try the Reset Utility:

  • Transfer apps from my old to new iphone

Can i transfer my apps from my iphone 3gs to my new iphone 4, (I have some itune, name etc)

You should just be able to hook up to iTunes. Backup, Sync and Transfer Purchases. Then resotore from the backup with the new phone.. This is just what I have read tho, I'm unfamiliar with the process myself.
