Old object instance in bus2012.changed event

Hi all,
I'm using the change document event BUS2012.significantlychanged to start the workflow. This event is getting raised and the workflow triggered as i wanted. But when I see the PO attributes in the workflow container it shows the old release strategy
For example the event is raised when the release strategy is changed from 3 to 4,
in the PO i see the release strategy 4 but in the workflow container I still see 3. After couple of minutes i see the correct value 4.
Could some one through some light on it and propose any possible solution?

Hi Sandeep,
As I've already indicated in the other thread, this is a bad idea. 'Avoiding' an extra couple of lines of code comes at a cost of an extra workflow step with all its associated logging and a user context switch involving an RFC call.
swc_refresh_object works perfectly. The only case where a new instance may work 'better' is if there is an update delay - using a new step takes a bit longer than swc_object_refresh due to being far more resource-intensive. Therefore you have a bigger chance of the data being up to date. A 'wait up to 3 seconds' statement before the refresh will have the same effect. The other way around update issues is terminating events which will guarantee data is up to date. There are more lengthyo options too but that's outside the scope of this thread.
Please understand I'm not having a go at you - just trying to be helpful and as such I provided good reasons and alternatives.

No Data Change event generated for a XControl in a Type Def.

Hello,
Maybe I am missing something but the Data Change event of a XControl is not called when the XControl is used in a Type Def. or Strictly Type Def. (see the attached file).
There may be some logics behind it but it eludes me. Any idea of why or any idea of a workaround still keeping the Type Def. ?

Thank you for addressing this issue. It must be a XControl because it carries many implemented functions/methods (though there is none in the provided example).
Also consider that the provided non-working example is in fact a reduction of my actual problem (in a 1000-VI large application) to the smallest relevant elements. In fact I use a typedef of a mix of a lot of different XControls and normal controls, some of them being typedef, strictly typedef or normal controls and other XControls of XControls (of XControls...) in a object oriented like approach...

I use a typedef to propagate its modifications automatically everywhere it is used in the application (a lot of places). As you imply a XControl would do the same, though one would like to construct a simple typedef when no additional functionality is wanted.
The remark "XControl=typedef+block diagram" is actually very neat (never thought of it that way) because it provides a workaround by transforming every typedef into a XControl. Thanks very much, I will explore this solution.
One issue remains: All normal controls update their displayed value when inserted into a typedef but not XControls. Data change event is not triggered. I known that XControls have some limitations (no array of XControls) but I would say, like TWGomez, that this is a “bug” considering the expected functionality.

Object instance 1200 does not exist (while executing task SWUS)

i have created a workflow class and two methods (constructor, display) and 1 attribute PLANT (instance,public) in it.
i am using this class and display method in task t code PFTC.
While executing this task from SWUS , i am getting this error.Object instance 1000 does not exist.
As i was going through this blog. i have created everything exactly just like it is mentioned there.
But still i am getting this error. please guide me to detect where i am mistaken.

i have also tried F4 help. it is showing all existing plants in our system, but still it is not accepting values select from f4 help.

How to make Text Input in Sales Order Trigger Change Event

Hi Gurus,
I have a project going on where when a sales order is created, changed or cancelled, an IDoc is FTP to our freight company.
Now the issues is when we change a sales order text input (for example, shipping note). Nothing happens. The system doesn't take this as a change so no change event is triggered.
Text fields I'm talking about is the one from Go to --> Header. and for Item Go to --> Item.
When I input a note in this field, it comes out in the IDoc, but when I go back to the Sales Order and change the note, it doesn't trigger a change and therefore no IDoc is generated.
how can I go about this?

Could you initiate the idoc creation from a workflow?
Have you checked the event trace?
Is the BUS2032 object type CHANGED raised? I checked our system and event is raised on text change.
Transaction SWELS to activate and deactivate trace.
Transaction SWEL to monitor event raised.
Don't forget to turn trace off

Can I create an IDOC Based on A Change Event Being Triggered

I have a BOR object that when changed - triggers event 'Change'
I would like to code the event linkage such that an IDoc is created everytime the event is raised.
Has anyone done this before?
The message type I am using is a standard one and is associated with the same BOR object.
Which function module should I use in the event linkage for that 'change' event?
The IDoc doesnt have an outbound function module.
Please indicate steps or point me to related weblogs/threads

What happens generally is that -- Initiator are created on the basis on the main role. User submit the request for main roles and the dependent roles are added automatically. Dependent roles are added later automatically the initiator needs to be created on the main roles. So if initiator is created on the basis of dependent role ( secondary roles ) and you are not selecing the dependent role in the request ( selecting only the main roles ) the initiator's conditions will not meet.

Listening for objects in a Vector changing attributes.

Can anybody help me with this problem?
A Vector has a number of objects contained in it.
How can I determine if any of the contained objects have had thier attribute(s) changed?
Would an ObjectChangeListener be something that I could use on the Vector?

Nothing you do with the Vector will tell you whether the attributes of the objects "in" it have changed. That's because the Vector actually contains references to those objects, and other references to the same objects could change them. So, you would have to provide listeners that listened to the objects for changes. (Of course you could make the Vector one of those listeners, then it could pass on its events to other objects.)

Shopping Cart Workflow - "Wait for change event" not firing?

Hi there,
I have a scenario where if I create a shopping cart above my spending limit it will go into the approver's inbox, that is fine.
Now if I change the total value of the shopping cart to be within my spending limit the original workflow should be "logically deleted" and a "no step approval workflow" should be triggered.
I see when the SC workflow triggers it also branches with a "wait for events", so that if it changes etc it will get caught here.
When I change the SC it does not do anything, the value of the cart changes but it still sits in the approvers inbox and the "no step approval workflow" does not trigger.
We are busy upgrading to SRM 5.0, it worked perfectly in the SRM 3.0 system we had.
Any ideas what would cause the "change event" not to fire?

You are the man!! That solved it.....I have implemented the BBP_WFL_SECUR_BADI and for whatever reason I set the security level to 4 when it should have been 2.
4     "High" (workflow is never restarted when changes are made)
3     "Medium" (WF restarted conditionally when changes are made)
2     "Low" (workflow is always restarted when changes are made)
1     "None" (changes to the object are not allowed)
0     "Not defined"

Contextual Event question (Currency Change Event)

Hello,
I have published a contextual event on my table (Currency Change Event)
I also have a SelectionListener on the same table.
Will I have to manually/programmatically publish the event within the selection listener code? (and if so, how?)
The reason I ask is that I practiced with a small app containing a region from an ADF library that handled currency change event from the referenced task flow and everything was great, but now I am trying to apply the same principles to my "proper" application and there is no currency change event being received in the parent application.
I had a look at Andrejus example (http://andrejusb.blogspot.co.uk/2010/10/contextual-events-framework-and-adf-11g.html) but he has hand crafted the events on the page binding will I have to do that too? Is it not enough that I have the currency change event declared?

I've applied the same processing to another table that uses the standard collectionModel.makeCurrent selection listener and it's firing the contextual event handler in the parent application, so that almost confirms that it's the bespoke selection listener that needs code adding to it to invoke the currency change event

Creating a ListBox on "change" event

I am using Designer 7 and the Script Editor and wish to create a list box when a "change" event occurs. Is this possible?

For instance, I have a large list of items that go into a list box. I want the user to be able to type into a text box and while they are typing, the list box is displayed with possible suggestions for what it thinks are typing. The user can either keep typing or arrow down to one of the choices. Right now I have a textbox and a hidden listbox. This listbox displays with the possible choices when the user is typing in the textbox. If they click one of the choices it will display in the textbox, but I would like them to be able to scroll down to the listbox from the textbox.

Error in work flow wait for change event

Error in work flow wait for change event of business object bus1014, Actually this business object is triggering for two transaction one is me21n and another is c201 . am trying to create fork with two branches one is create and another if change occurs wait will trigger, bt when i trigger work flow controll is not after fork, it will stop in fork only. and am not getting my workflow container variable getting instantiate, am getting error in wait. please any one get out of me in this

What is LV_MATERIAL? is it a BO container element? or a class element or a just a simple variable?
Error message is clear, you are trying to evaluate LV_MATERIAL but it does not contain a value.
This is a custom workflow as it begins with WS9xxxxxxx... what is LV_MATERIAL used for? what are we expecting it to hold? maybe, from event to workflow binding we can pass the value to it.
Please share the following:
1) Definition screen shot of LV_MATERIAL
2) Screen shot of The step where it is first used - from SWDD
3) Screenshot of Event to Workflow Binding
4) name of your base Business Object (seen in the triggering events tab of the WF template in PFTC)
5) What is the corresponding variable for that BO in your workflow container
6) Screen shot of WF definition from SWDD - please identify the step going in error in that screen shot

Error when determining attribute 'OBJECTTOAPPROVE' of object instance

Hi,
I'm using Item-based level approval shopping cart. I've written code in BADI for approval level as per our requirement. When I create shopping cart, it is triggering workflow and going to particular user, but when I saw the step history for the approval activity it shows, Error when determining attribute 'OBJECTTOAPPROVE' of object instance BO.BUS30003.
And when I execute the workitem, the status changes to error state and it has one more message in step history which is Work item 000000006030: Object FORM method HTMLPROCESS cannot be executed.
Any one knows about this errors ?

Changing event dates of MOV files

I've found it straightforward changing event dates (so the Event Library will sort chrono), simply by going to Finder and changing the yyyy-mm-dd format for DV files that may not have been captured correctly. However, when I do the same with MOV files, the fix will not work. Any suggestions? Thanks.
BTW, these files were captured via a Canopus ADVC110. Years ago, I consolidated my video library (various old formats) on DVDs via a Panasonic DVD-R player. Now I've captured all of this video, via the Canopus converter, and am ready to edit in iMovie. When I captured the video recently, I simply created new folders, labeling each by year, so the sub-folders are easy to recognize. They all show up under "2007" I can live with this, but if there is a fix it would be nice.

IIRC, the .mov files are really a package of files and you will need to change the dates of the files in the package. Alternatively, you could import the .mov files into iMovie 06, and export as a Quicktime .dv file, at which point, it becomes easy to change the dates.
