Old Tomcat VS New installations

Hi,
Long time ago I setup Tomcat Server and it was working 100% fine.
Today I wanted to review JSP and Tomcat server so after stopping the IIS and startup the Tomcat server I entered the URL:
http://localhost/hello.jsp but I got 404 Error?! and the same thing for my other jsp files I made long time ago.
I checked the old settings I made long time ago :ClassPath,Path,Java_Home,... every thing looks correct.
The only possible different I think is that I installed new programs like:
Java EE 5 SDK (I uninstalled the Java Application server I had before install it)
Visual Studio 2008
PHP 5.3.1 vc9 for IIS using Fast CGI extention
However since every thing I made long time ago looks correct and was working I don't know what to do? I spent 3 hours at least trying to fix it but it is no use.
Hope that you can help me...

I always deploy my applications to folders other than the Root (wwwroot).I only have in the Root two simple PHP pages in a folder and one unimportant asp.net website I may delete it.I think you are playing with too many technologies, which is mixing things up in your mind. wwwroot is related to IIS, so I'm not concerned with that. Tomcat is supposed to run JavaEE, so if you have PHP or asp.net pages in tomcat, you shouldn't expect them to be executed. What I want to know is how are you expecting http://localhost/hello.jsp to return you a page if you don't have any application deployed on ROOT. As you said using the URL http://localhost/ renders the default tomcat welcome page, that means that your application is deployed on some context path (you can put your JSP pages in ROOT directory of tomcat, but I don't know if you have done that). So the URL that you need to use is http://localhost/<context path>/hello.jsp where <context path> would generally be the name of the folder of your application in the webapps folder of tomcat. So if you have a directory structure like $Tomcat_installation_dir/webapps/myapp/hello.jsp, then the URL in the browser would be http://localhost/myapp/hello.jsp ...
'O' sorry for my silly mistake I was confused between the too roots in my post may be because I didn't drink my tea that night. However as you said the .jsp page has nothing to do with the IIS root. But I found it placed correctly in the Tomcat webapps\Root folder and not inside any folder so the path should be [http://localhost/hello.jsp].
and [http://localhost/] display the Tomcat Welcome page.
Other applications I have in that folder (Tomcat Root) are only 4 somple JSP pages since I didn't make any JSP project for my work or such things...
One of them read from SQL database using JDBC.
Is there any thing I should check to fix up this problem other than the ClassPath and Java_Home variables?
As I mentioned the error appears as following:
HTTP Status 404 - /hello.jsp
type Status report
message /hello.jsp
description The requested resource (/hello.jsp) is not available.

  • Cannot move old profile to new installation

I need to move my FF profile to a new FF installation on a new PC, but I cannot get the profile to "stick".
I have tried copying the old profile's files into the new default folder and changing the .ini file's default to match, but it isn't working. I tried deleting the new default profile and inserting the old one, but the new default profile folder recreates itself. Where is FF storing the new default profile number and how can I change it?
I know it is possible to move an existing profile to a new FF installation as i have done it before, but I just cannot get it to work this time. What am I doing wrong?

  • Deleting old files on new installation of cs2

I recently bought cs2 design premium for my second computer . unlike the installing of later cs versions which I recall have an UNINSTALL file I believe the cs2 does not (I have not opened it in case it needs to be returned).
I have a number of older ADOBE software packages on my computer VIZ photoshop; illustrator; Dreamweaver and Fireworks - does anyone know if I will need to delete/remove these files before installation of CS2? if so where do I find the files and what method of removal do I use. I also have earlier versions in OSX9 (Classic); Do I need to remove these also?
I am currently using Mac OSX 10.4.11

  • Move old installations facts from old contract to new contract in transfer

    Hi all,
Is there anyway to automate in moving old installations facts from old contract to new contract, during transfer process in CRM / UCES ?

    Hi Vikrant Guptarya,
    1.     For CRM IC Web, use "Contract Management" work center  > use "Move" transaction to perform Move Out and Move In
Upon saving, the Move Out contract will be completed for the previous premise, and Move In contract will be created for the new premise. I want to transfer all previous premise's installation facts to new premise at this point of time .
    2.     For UCES, use "Transfer" radio button >perform Move Out and Move In.
Same, upon saving, the Move Out contract will be completed for the previous premise, and Move In contract will be created for the new premise. I want to transfer all previous premise's installation facts to new premise at this point of time .
Yes i would like implement this in both system.
Appreciate if you could enlighten how can I achieve this.
    Thanks.

  • Network card not found after new installation [SOLVED]

I broke my filesystem on my Asus UL80V series laptop in trying to solve problems related to the latest glibc update, so decided to do a clean re-install. I had an installation disk at hand: 2009.08 with kernel 2.6.30.4-1 (which is supposed to have the module for my ath9k network device). However after a successful installation (including all the files from base-dev), my network device is not recognised:
dhcpcd: eth0: interface not found or invalid
although network connectivity (wired and wireless) worked perfectly before the installation attempt.
This happened yesterday (17th) and I have been scouring the web since trying to find out what the cause of this problem is, without luck.
I also burned a new installation CD with the latest stable version, but no luck there, either! Got a message at the beginning informing me that the install requires 64 Mb memory, although my laptop has 4 Gb.
I should say, the device is there and working:
    lspci | grep Net
    gives
02:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
    I also did
    modprobe ath9k
just to make sure. No luck.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    thanks

Argh, ip may not be around in the 2009 image really ;-) .. Use "ifconfig" instead..
    But: I meanwhile cross-checked your ath9k: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Dri … h9k_driver
and it does not sound encouraging for the kernel you have there.
The image is far too old anyway, if you ask me (would be a darn hazzle to get that uptodate I am sure). Pity you get that memory error with the 2011 one. Maybe check forums on that. Sounds very strange, I am not aware of any post I read.
If you can burn another CD, you can try the recent ISOs as well: http://releng.archlinux.org/isos/
Beware that the ones from July dont have the AIF setup anymore.

I've already tried to reinstall from the original DVD. I also read, maybe the system-font's might cause this problem. I also tried to copy the old fonts back and also tried a new installation. It still doesn't work.
It would be great to find a solution to this problem.

Update:  Booted into single-user mode, checked disk via fsck -f (had to force it), no problems found.
Booted with Snow Leopard installer CD and ran Disk Utlity - repaired permissions and repaired disk.  No problems found.  'Macintosh HD appears to be OK'.

  • How to uninstall Apple Application Support v. 1.2.1 on a PC or force a new installation of QuickTime

After running Apple QuickTime for three or more years on my PC running Windows XP, apparently some part of its code became corrupted.  Trying to install an updated version of QuickTime, all went well until the new installation was not able uninstall the old version of Apple Application Support, v. 1.2.1.
How can I uninstall the old version of Apple Application Support v. 1.2.1, or, how can I force a new installation of QuickTime without first uninstalling Apple Application Support?
    Thanks for your help.
    Jim

Jim, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple\Installer Cache is where Apple Application Support is located should you want to delete it, the version you mention is old.
You may be able to first force a new update by going to. C:\ Program Files\Apple Software Update and double clicking on SoftwareUpdate exe
If that doesn't work for you than you would have to remove the old QuickTime msi file. Which is a microsoft installer file. Located in C:\WINDOWS\Installer
If you have any difficulty locating and removing the msi file this link to Windows Installer CleanUp Utillty should help. If not post back.

  • How do you guys transfer photoshop cs6 from old laptop to new one?

    Hi,
I'm trying to transfer photoshop cs6 from my old macbook to new one.
I tried to do it through using migration, but it doesn't work.
Is there a better solution? or do I need to buy new one ?

Migration does not work well with Adobe programs. Deactivate it on your old machine. Then use the Creative Cloud Cleaner on the new machine to get rid of the unsuccessfully migrated software.  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
Then do a complete new install on the new machine, and activate it.

  • Mdadm boot slow to assemble drives with newer installs

I had a problem where my raid1 installs from this year would pause about 5 seconds per mdadm entry yet my old installs from March 2014 would go through all 4 mdadm entries in less than a second. After fussing for a long time on the new installs I finally broke (slowed) one of my old installs which immediately revealed what the problem was.
I didn't forget to pick partition type FD or FD00. I have my install sequence in a text file so I rarely forget things. I install through PuTTY pasting all the way so it's fast and mistakes are rare.
devices of the form /dev/md/* take about 5 seconds to create.
devices of the form /dev/md{0..127} create very fast.
"mdadm -E --scan" always creates devices of the form /dev/md/{0..127}. In the past I was very meticulous about fixing the device names to the more compact form. I never missed so I never found out there was a substantial speed difference. I just like the the more compact look of /dev/md1 in my boot menu. Eventually I progressed to UUID and LABEL but persisted with the compact form. Then I discovered "mdadm --name" so I left mdadm do it's own thing. What could possibly go wrong?
I also noticed that the mdadm instructions changed from using "mdadm" to "mdadm_udev". mdadm_udev seems to assemble faster than mdadm.
To fix, boot once to see if you're slow, fix any usage of /dev/md*/* in your boot scripts or fstab, fix the form in /etc/mdadm.conf, and mkinitcpio...
I still see that the new installs pause at udev more than old installs, but instead of 20s vs >1s, it's now 5s vs >1s, which is much better.
Looking further I compared mkinitcpio.conf and noticed that autodetect is now installed by default. I took that out and though my list of drivers went way down the pause didn't change. Then I compared "lsinitcpio -a /boot/initramfs-linux.img" and I saw that fsck.zfs was loading so ZFS being a data drive only I uninstalled it and remade mkinitcpio. The pause didn't change.
Now "lsinitcpio -a /boot/initramfs-linux.img" and "lsinitcpio /boot/initramfs-linux.img | sort" compare the same yet the pause remains. I know something is lying because the slow pause computer has a SAS controller and the fast pause computer doesn't, and I know that I must remake mkinitcpio when the SAS controller brand changes or it won't boot without Fallback. The mptsas driver is hiding in there somewhere. So then I unpack both initrd files and by-content compare all files with Total Commander.
    Only one difference: mdadm.conf
I can't boot without the SAS controller so I can't check to see if that's the source of the pause. I suspect it is because I can see the NumLock blink halfway through the pause and I know the SAS controller isn't concerned with that.
To solve this quandary I made a quickie install on a SATA only computer. I used the fast form of /dev/md* in mdadm.conf and left autodetect in mkinitcpio.
It's fast, but there's still about a half second pause right there at udev. Out goes autodetect. Still about a half second.
Then, back at the slow pause computer, I swapped the Marvell AOC-SASLP-MV8 for the LSI SAS2008 9211-8i. See Zorinaq for what makes this possible. The pause at udev dropped to about 1s which is only a bit slower than SATA. Not really a win since the LSI BIOS boot takes much longer. The good news is that I didn't need to rebuild mkinitcpio to change controllers. autodetect is toast and I get one more degree of freedom!
I guess that's as good as it gets. Fortunately the mdadm --name option doesn't create /dev/md/* entries so I don't need to fix that.
The Internet is strangely silent on this issue. I guess you're all just used to slow boots with mdraid.
This is a bug and needs to be reported. Either mdadm scan needs to stop producing the slow form or needs to make the slow form fast.

severach wrote:I didn't forget to pick partition type FD or FD00.
I wouldn't use this partition type anymore. (raid autodetect is deprecated)
severach wrote:Then I discovered "mdadm --name" so I left mdadm do it's own thing.
mdadm --name never worked well for me. I don't see many people using it.
I prefer a minimal mdadm.conf that only specifies the md number and UUID.
    ARRAY /dev/md0 UUID=627125a5:abce6b82:6c738e49:50adadae
I don't notice any delays but, in my case the raid is assembled in the background while in the foreground LUKS is waiting for me to type a passphrase.

  • Oracle Portal 11g - New Installation

    Hello,
I have worked a lot of with IAS 10.1.2.3. Now I want to install Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.6.0). But I need the Portal for my old applications.
I have found the document 1364497.1 "New Direction for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g with Single Sign-On 10g". In the document is a section "Oracle Portal 11g - New Installation" from 23-MAY-2012. This describe in Part 1 that I have to install the Infrasturcture of Oracle Identity Management 10g (10.1.4.0.1) . But I can't find the needed sources in the given donlaod path (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/101401-099957.html).
I found only Oracle Identity Management 10g (10.1.4.3). This version seems to me does not have an Infrasturcture.
I don't know which sources I have to download to install the temporary needed Infrasturcture. Can anybody help to find the right sources?
    Thanks,
    Frank

    Hi Frank,
I'd prefer to get the document published first. Also a few comments with regards to the OAM installation path.
    The benefits are :
<li>You will be using OAM straight from the beginning, no SSO in the picture
<li>You can install Oracle Portal with an 11g OID instead of a 10g OID (which you would get when installing IDM 10.1.4)
<li>You can use an 11.2 database for both the Portal and OID repository. With IDM 10.1.4 you are restricted to an 10.1 or 10.2 database as the installer does not support 11g.
There are some drawbacks as well :
<li>There will be no DAS solution (oiddas). Both User/Group creation should be done with different tools (ldif files, dbms_ldap API, provisioning from a 3rd party LDAP server) as well as User and Group LOVs in the access tabs of several Portal components won't work. You can still enter the name of the user and group in the input field to grant privileges
<li>The seeded login portlet does not work
    Thanks,
    EJ
