Omniportlet XML : Param to XSL Filter

Hi,
I have an xml file not in the <rowset><row></row></rowset> format to display in an XML Omniportlet.
I have made a XSL file to transform it.
My portal is in three languages.
I have added a param (<xsl:param name="lang">) to my XSL file.
How can I pass the NLS_LANG to that XSL file ?
I tryed to add a system parameter on the page to the omniportlet containing the NLS_LANGUAGE but it doesn't seems to work.
I tryed to set the XSL URL to : url/file.xsl?lang=##Param1##
How to do it ?
Thank you for your help.

• Omniportlet web service xsl filter

Hi,
i am using Oracle application server portal 10g (10.1.2)
Does anybody have a sample XSL filter that I can use to transform web service output to ROWSET/ROW form?
The XML data that is showed when I hit "Test" button is as follows and I just want to keep the ROWSET section.
I am doing anything wrong?
Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
<SOAP-ENV:Body xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<ns1:getXMLDocumnetResponse xmlns:ns1="MyJavaClass1WS" SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://xml.apache.org/xml-soap/literalxml">
<return>
<ROWSET>
<!--Just a thought-->
<ROW Name="Joe"/>
<ROW Name="Alice"/>
<ROW Name="Smith"/>
</ROWSET>
</return>
</ns1:getXMLDocumnetResponse>
</SOAP-ENV:Body>

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, it is running on a proprietary network and would not be available.
If the results are not in rowset/row format, what would happen? The reason I am asking is that I am getting a blank page when I don't use the xsl at all, but when I try to use the xsl, I get the error.
Is there a sample somewhere on oracle's site that I could look at? (I watched the omniportlet/webservice tutorial on PortalStudio, but their tutorial did not use an xsl filter, neither did it show the content of the files it used.)
Thank you.

• Chaining a new XSL filter into XMLForms filters

Hi,
I'm trying to add a filter to certain xmlforms before the default filters change it into HTML.
I have tested a filter with the xml files and know my XSL does what I want it to, and can successfully chain filters together in the XSLT Filter section on generic xml files. The filter in question changes it from xml to xml, it only updates one particular tag with the contents of another tag (we couldn't find away to do this with the default XML Forms behavior, but if you know of one let me know! )
But when I try to add my filter to the list of XML Forms Repository Filters, it does not appear to have any effect. I set it as priority 1 (I set the priorities of the pre existing filters to 2 or more) and my repository and path are correct, and extensions is "xml".
I tried setting Resource type to http://sap.com/xmlns/cm/app/xmlforms/* and also blank. tried setting the Formatter and MIME type to both text/xml and also blank.
Nothing seems to have any effect. I also tried putting it in the XLST Filters area set to the directory where my xml forms are, but that didn't work either.
Has anyone successfully applied filters to their xml forms? If so, how?
thanks

You're right, there seems to be a problem with the scripting host installation on your machine. I fear I don't know hot to fix it. You may have to ask Microsoft.
Best regards, Julian

Is the error message displayed in Firefox or in IE, or in a customized window that doesn't identify the browser?
''If it displays in Firefox:''
It's possible that the Troubleshooter doesn't work correctly unless IE is your default browser. You could test that possibility by having IE make itself the default and testing the Troubleshooter again.
''If it displays in IE or embedded in another Microsoft application:''
In a web search I found these suggestions:
(1) Reset your Internet Explorer settings, according to http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie8-windows_7/cannot-view-xml-using-xsl-style-sheet/ccfe80c6-c0db-4594-a7e3-475f9eac0e85
(2) Try the System File Checker, according to http://ask-leo.com/why_do_i_get_the_xml_page_cannot_be_displayed_after_running_a_microsoft_troubleshooter.html
Any luck?

I get the error "The uploaded file TEST_temp.xsl is invalid. The file should be in XSL format."
Where am I going wrong?
I am trying to create Excel XML spreadsheets, because the excel files created using RTF templates are very huge in size. And it is taking an unacceptable amount of time to open the file. Is there any other solution to overcome this performance issue?
Regards
Nishka

Nishka,
Looks like your XSL stylesheet is missing the XML header at the top.
So normally it would look like:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xsl:stylesheet....>
</xsl:stylesheet>
as an Example a stylesheet which just outputs a field:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:xdoxslt="http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/oracle.apps.xdo.template.rtf.XSLTFunctions">
<xsl:template match="/">
<xsl:text>My field:</xsl:text>
<xsl:value-of select="MYFIELD"/>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>

• Transfer 100M XML file with XSL

Hi,
I am trying to transfer 100M XML file with XSL. Input.xml is the XML file, format.xsl is the XSL file. I type in the command line as:
java org.apache.xalan.xslt.Process -IN input.xml -XSL format.xsl -OUT output.xml
It got "out of memeory" error. My questions are:
1. Is it possible to transfer such large XML file with XSLT?
2. The XSL processor used SAX or DOM to parse XML file?
3. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Your PL/SQL code doesn't produce a valid XML document.
In the XML grammar, "&" is a special character and must be escaped using the character entity "&".
If you were using standard methods to build XML from Oracle (SQL/XML functions for instance), I'm sure you wouldn't have this error.
Please show us the PL/SQL code you're using to produce this XML output and we'll be able to help you further.

• How to convert xml file to xsl using java

Hi all,
I have an XML file with which i need to convert(transform) it to an xsl file using java.
I am new to converting xml file to xslt.Please send me if u have code .
Thanks in advance

You seem to be asking the wrong question. An XSL file can be used to transform an XML file, but transforming an XML into an XSL does not make sense. The API for running XSL transforms on the Java platform is described here:
http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/xml/transform/package-summary.html

Hi All,
Scenario XML to IDOC.
The interface determination decides whether to create IDOC X or IDOC Y based on a xml segment value.

Hi Suraj,
That option is not available in FTP mode..
This option is applicable only for the File adapter. If you enter a value in this field when configuring the sender FTP adapter, it will have no effect.
Yes, you're right !!
Are you sure that the message is not getting picked in half-way
Now, at this time, I can't see the XML data in the CC monitoring because the tool shows only the recent polling execute in the last 10 minutes. If the error recurs, I will check the payload of CC.
How can I solve the problem with reading incomplete file (FTP mode)?
...Meanwhile I will try with Full cache refresh.
Thanks
Daniele

• Transform LiveCycle form xml output using xsl

I've completed my first form but now want to format the xml that's generated.
Whilst I work for a big Company, I don't think they'll stretch to purchasing the Reader Extensions Module so I can output as PDF. Also there will be more than 500 users completing the form, so I can't just extend the rights using Adobe Acrobat.
Therefore, I'd like to transform the xml created using xsl (as I have knowledge in this area) - I'd like the transformation to occur when the form is submitted via email so that a 'friendly' attachment is added to the email and not the xml output.
Any ideas on this one?

First thing is, the fonts did not work in my system.. So I can not really understand where the email address fields are..
Few things:
1) You have used an Email submit button and tried to place the code in the MouseDown event.
You need to change this button to "Regular Type Button". and place the code in the Click event to work.
2) I placed a sample button and put in my code for your reference.. This is working fine..You can check the below sample.
https://acrobat.com/#d=tQa4E*8aA*mJq6aijSHuDQ
3) You can do the same way for your form..
4) If you have Acrobat software, you can enable JavaScript debugger which can give you the specific error message rather than Submit cancelled. If you do not, then you need to put some messageBox statements and check..
Thanks

• XML with Embedded XSL

My company are sending reports to out customers by translating XML with an XSL file to generate a HTML file and then emailing it to our customers.
At the moment we are using XALAN to process the XML through the Style Sheet.
We would like to shift the processing onto our users by letting their browsers do the work.
We cannot send the xml and xsl as 2 seperate files because the users would have to extract both files into the same location then open the XML.
Is it possible to use embed XSL in XML for use in MS Internet Explorer???????
I heard that not all translators support embedded XSL but I cant find any info on mdsn.
Any help would be appreciated

First, you are assuming that your customers are using Internet Explorer. If this is not the case, then your plan will fail.
Second, Internet Explorer (in its current standard configuration) does not run XSLT as known to Xalan, but another similar, obsolete, non-standard language (called XSL by Microsoft). IE can be made to work with standard XSLT, by installing a special DLL.
So you can do this if you like, but first you need to get more knowledge about the IE implementations of XSL (it is on MSDN!) and then you will need ongoing support for customers who need help configuring their browsers.
As you can probably guess, I think your server-based scheme is a much better idea.

FR does not (or certainly did not) add page numbers to the reports in books unless you manually add them. I always used to add a text box in the footer of the report and insert functions like this. It has been a while since I did it (I haven't on 11.1.2.1 for example) but I think that if you do this the page number corresponds to the page within the book and not the page of the report (if a multi-page report). It may not take account of a TOC page though.
Hope this helps

• Can't convert string element to XML node using XSL

We have a source XML with a node that contains another XML as string. Like this:
"<imp1:payload><?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'ISO-8859-15' standalone = 'no'?>
<!-- Oracle eXtensible Markup Language Gateway Server --><!DOCTYPE PROCESS_PO_007 SYSTEM "003_process_po_007.dtd"><PROCESS_PO_007><CNTROLAREA>" etc
And we have a target XML that has the schema inside the string in the source file, like this:
"<PROCESS_PO_007>
<CNTROLAREA>"....etc.
How can we "parse" the string to a node using an XSL transformation file?

Hi,
Can you tell me which code are you using currently for transferrring the data? It might help me to figure out what your problem is.

• ENTITIES and transforming XML to XML/HTML using XSL

I am going absolutely nuts. When using XSL to transform an XML
file to HTML or another XML schema, critical entities dissappear.
For example:
<oldtag>press "any" key</oldtag>
will get rendered to
<newtag>press "any" key</newtag>
by the XML/XSL parser, which is not valid HTML or XML.
How do I preserve these entities through the transformation
process. Escaping the text (in the XML source) with <![CDATA[]]
is not possible in this case.--Michael

Assuming you can't use a CDATA in the DTD to prevent parsing,
then my suggestion would be to use the XSL stylesheet to restore
the entities as there is no way that I am aware of that will set
conditional expansion.
