OMWB SQL2000 - Oracle 9.2.0.3.0

Trying to convert a sql*server 2000 database (on win2k server) using omwb v9.2.0.1.2 and an Oracle 9.2.0.3 repository on same XP machine.
Using SQL*Server plug-in 9.2.0.1.3 production and sql*server ODBC driver 2000.81.9030.04.
The capture source model process hangs - the error log contains the following:

Any ideas please?

Hi Richard,
in step 2 of the capture wizard, you are asked for connection details to your source SQL Server using the "sa" login. Does your "sa" login have DBA privileges ? (This would be default behaviour). The reason I ask is that the most important line of the error.log below is :
"permission denied on column 'password' of object 'syslogins',database 'master', owner 'dbo'."
This suggests that your "sa" login does not have enough privileges to query the 'password' column in the syslogins table in the master database.
Another point you could check is whether you have placed some restrictive privileges on certain columns or tables in your master database.
The 'sa' login that you use to migrate needs full access to the master database in order to complete the migration successfully.
I hope this helps,
Tom.

  • OMWB for Oracle 9.2 release

    Hi,
We are currently using Oracle 9.2 Enterprise Edition. I wish to download Oracle Migration Work Bench to migrate a Sybase Database to Oracle 9.2. But on OTN the only Migration Worbench available for download is 10.1.0.
Can this downloadable OMWB be used with an Oracle 9.2 HOME. Else could someone tell me where could i find Oracle Migration WorkBench 9.2.0.1 for download.
    Thanks
    Suvashish

You can use this OMWB release 10 to migrate to Oracle 9i.
Install it into a separte Oracle_Home and then run the migration process.
The connections are done by JDBC/ODBC to the foreign database and with JDBC to the target Pracle db.
Do not install (unzip) OMWB into the same Oracle_Home as your Oracle 9i installation!

  • Compatibility of OMWB and Oracle Database Express Edition

    Hi,
I have been searching all over but can't find information on migrating MS SQL 2000 databases to Oracle Database Express. When I perform the migration, all seems to go well, but then only the tablespaces are visible in Oracle Database Express Edition. No tables or views. Are they even compatible?
Thanks for any help you can give!
    KJ

    Hi KJ,
Have you taken a look at the newly developed SQL Developer Migration Workbench? it is now available as an Early Adopters Release. It requires an installation of version 1.1.2 of SQL developer. This release supports SQL Server 7, 2000, and 2005.
You can find more about it athttp://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration/workbench/index_sqldev_omwb.html

  • Migration MS ACCESS FORMS and Reports to Oracle (Java or Forms or Reports)

    Hello ,
can someone tell me, how i can migrate a whole MS ACCESS 2000 mdb (with forms and Reports) to Oracle.
I think i have first migrate the Access DB with the OMWB to Oracle and in the next Step to convert the VBA Code to JAVA or Forms9i.
BUT Is there a tool available for Migrating VBA code like the OMWB ????

I don't know if this is an obvious question, but do you have MS Access 2k installed on the machine you are trying to run this from? I'm assuming yes.
If you do and there is still a problem, you should log a ticket for support who will take your mdb and help out with the issue for you.
    Many thanks

  • No plusings Install (OMWB)

    Hi ,
I am migrating sybase database 12.5 database to Oracle 10g Rel2 database using Oracle Migration workbench 10.1.0.4
I have downloaded the zip file of OMWB and unzip it to C:\ drive and copied the required plugins (Sybase12.jar) to C:\omwb\plugins directory. when i try creating repository on oracle database it gives error " No plugins installed. Please install the plugin for the database you want to migrate" .
When i opt default repository its start two step process
    A) Creating Repository
    B) Installing Plugins
It complete first step but failed at second step giving similar massage " No plugins installed" .
I have checked several time, i've downloaded jar files its not zip file. but its not working and repeatdly fails to create repository on oracle database.
If anybody faced this issue and know how deal with it please help..
    Regards
    Amit

    Hi Donal ,
Following is the result of dir command. this morning i tried again after fresh downloading of jar file , it asked for the creation of repository , it continue through the first step successfully ( creating Repository ) but failed at second step ( i.e. Installing Plugins) giving similar error massage.
One more thing when checked oracle db , It created 64 objects ( Tables ) under user REPUSER ( on oracle db), which i created for storing repository, any idea what this indicate ? But still i am completely struck because it failed to install Plugins . Is this anything to do that i am using single machine for all , OMWB and oracle software ? Just wild guess !

  • Migration Issues from Informix to Oracle (datetime format)

Hello, i am performing a Migration from Informix to Oracle, drive by Migration Workbench, i have an error migrating data from datetime and date fields. I suppose its related by datetime and date format, cause the error tells "Incorrect day or month" when i am migrating data from informix. Targets Oracle database date format is DD/MM/YYYY and source`s Informix database date format like MM/DD/YYYY. Is there any way, in OMW, to specify the mask of datetime or date format to convert date strings from informix to oracle format? Or have i got migrate offline and modify control file to do that with sql*loader?
    How can i do that?
Example, especify to_date('....', 'MM/DD/YYYY H24:MI:SS') format for migrating informix datetime fields to Oracle.

The problem i have is, several tables witch contains date and datetime fields, at the same table in informix, by migrating drive by omwb to oracle, the date format i receive from informix at reading is DD/MM/YYYY and datetime format receiving is HH24:MI:SS. Migrating date and datetime types from informix to date, both types to date in oracle, i get an error while matching DD = HH24, MM = MI and YYYY = SS where nls_date_format is DD/MM/YYYY and, the same error matching HH24 = DD, MI = MM and SS = YYYY when nls_date_format is HH24:MI:SS.
If i set nls_date_format as "DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS" i get the same error, cause reading data from informix results in data format "DD/MM/YYYY" for date fields and "HH24:MI:SS" for datetime fields.
I have more than 200 tables in informix with this problem to migrate to oracle, i can solve by migrating offline, modifying datacontrol file to casting to_date format, but over 200 tables, 200 datacontrol files... is there any way for solving that by online migration in omwb?

As test migration now I want to migrate to Oracle 9i ..

When migrating to oracle database I noticed the message that ....
tables,,,tablespaces need to be created for efficient migration database..
Means do i need to create all the tables present in sql server database no-1
    in Oracle and then migrate...
can anyone please do give me the details on this...
    Thanks & Regards

Im afraid the OMWB does not perform MS Project migrations to Oracle.

    Hi Donald,
    Thanks for your reply.
"ROGER"."ABB_FILE"."ABB04" means in user "ROGER" schema, have a table "ABB04", and have a column named "ABB04".
So the column's name is "ABB04", not exceed 30 characters.
The table's description in Informix as follows:
    create table "roger".abb_file
    abb00 char(2),
    abb01 char(12),
    abb02 smallint,
    abb03 char(24),
    abb04 char(30),
    abb05 char(6),
    abb06 char(1),
    abb07 decimal(16,3) not null ,
    abb08 char(10),
    abb11 char(15),
    abb12 char(15),
    abb13 char(15),
    abb14 char(15),
    abb15 char(4)
And the table in Oracle's description:
    CREATE TABLE "ROGER"."ABB_FILE"
         "ABB00" VARCHAR2(2),
         "ABB01" VARCHAR2(12),
         "ABB02" NUMBER(5),
         "ABB03" VARCHAR2(24),
         "ABB04" VARCHAR2(30),
         "ABB05" VARCHAR2(6),
         "ABB06" VARCHAR2(1),
         "ABB07" NUMBER(16, 3) NOT NULL,
         "ABB08" VARCHAR2(10),
         "ABB11" VARCHAR2(15),
         "ABB12" VARCHAR2(15),
         "ABB13" VARCHAR2(15),
         "ABB14" VARCHAR2(15),

  • OMWB 10.1.0.2 Ms Access to Oracle strange migration of Indexes

    Hi
I am migrating from MS Access 2000 to Oracle 10g with OMWB 10.1.0.2 .
My Access source model has 123 indexes in it.
1.The Access source model is creating index for the same column of the same table and names it like ~~temp~index~name0 for some indexes
2.In some cases the index is created again in the source model for the same column of the same table with just the UNIQUE ,NON UNIQUE property differing.
3.Is it necessary to migrate indexex to oracle?
4.How the non-migration of indexes would affect the database performance?
Can anyone help me on this issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi Vinod,
To assist in resolving your issue, I would firstly recommend that you carry out the following steps on the MDB file you wish to export:
    1. Analyze the objects in your .mdb file using the Documenter facility in Microsoft Access. From the menu bar, select Tools, Analyze, Documenter, and then select the objects (for example, tables or queries) for analysis. Remove or resolve any erroneous objects.
    2. Ensure the application contains no missing references. Launch the design IDE (use the Alt+F11 keys), and from the menu bar, select Tools, References. Remove or resolve any missing references.
    3. Ensure the application compiles successfully. In the IDE view, select Debug, Compile from the menu bar. Resolve any reported errors.
    4. Carry out a compact and repair on the database, using the Tools, Database Utilities, Compact and Repair Database menu option.
    5. Ensure that all linked tables are valid links. Using the Tools, Database Utilities, Linked Table Manager menu option, verify that all links are up to date and pointing to an existing .mdb file that is not read-only.
If you still experience issues using the exporter tool, please supply the following information:
    * Operating System
    * Service Pack version
    * MS Access version installed
    * Version of MDB file to be exported
In your posting you mention the fact that the tool extracts the table data, generating a file with a .DAT extension for each table extracted. This is the expected behaviour of the tool. I would recommend that you read the documentation that accompanies the release, namely the Oracle Migration Workbench Exporter for Microsoft Access online help, and also the Oracle Migration Workbench User's Guide, to give you an understanding of how the tools work.
    I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Hilary

  • OMWB Sybase Version ? to Oracle Version ? & Migration Verifer

The documentation states that OMWB will migrate schemas and data from Sybase 11 or 12 to Oracle. My question is what versions are covered? There is a considerable difference between the various version of Sybase 12. My extact migration plan would be move structures and data from a Sybase 12.5.2 server on Solaris 8 to an Oracle 10g R2 server on Solaris 10. I was planning to follow up the migration with the Migration Verifier, but I do not know if it can cover these versions.

12.5 is supported by the Oracle Migration Workbench so you should be fine with this.

  • OMWB schema prefix (MS SQL Server to Oracle database migration)

I made automatical migration + some manual changes (pipelined functions) to migrate MS SQL 2000 database to Oracle 9i. Still one issue remains which requires lot of manual conversion : Names of the tables in views after automatic migration doesn't contain schema prefix and it doesn't compile on destination database.
My question is: Is there any way to add schema prefix to table names in views automatically during migration process ?

    Two things here.
The omwb will login to Oracle and create the views in the schema where they will be stored, hence not needing the schema appended.
If the views are on other schemas than the one being installed into, then yes, there may be some manual edits to do to the table names in the views. This is not configurable today.

Still one issue remains which requires lot of manual conversion : Names of the tables in views after automatic conversion doesn't contain schema prefix and it doesn't compile on destination database.
My question is: Is there any way to add schema prefix to table names in views automatically during migration process ?

    Hi Marcin,
See my post in the OMWB forum
    Thanks

The problem was in the file omwb.bat, the path was so long.
