On a Mac, in Adobe Photoshop CC 2014, when adding audio to an edit, i get the message "Could not complete your request, because Dynamiclink is not available".
When performing the exact same operation in Adobe Photoshop CC, i can add audio in the same way, no error message. Any ideas to solve this, anyone? Would be greatly appreciated.
I tried to update and it keeps telling me to get the Application Manager. And this is what happens
Adobe Application Manager failed and it told me to download the Adobe Support Advisor.
Adobe Support Advisor told me that there was an issue:" cpsid_82829s1: "A restart is pending," bootstrapper error has occurred. "Token Number: 40-87772-063201122012
I followed the instructions it gave me to correct this issue:
If you receive the error "Installer has detected that a machine restart is pending. It is recommended that you quit the installer, restart try again," do the following:
#Restart the computer and try the installation again.
#If the installation fails, delete the InProgress registry key:

Launch Windows Registry Editor.
(Windows XP) Choose Start > Run, type regedit in the Open text box and click OK.

I was working on a project and I closed it after saving and closed photoshop. Then later when I came to make another adjustment to my PSD I opened the file and it said "Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document." How can I fix this? I didn't shut off my mac while saving it. Someone please help
Okay, I just talked to the person that originated the document.
When this usually happens to me, it's because I've done something stupid like saved a .jpeg as a .psd. So that's what I tried. I tried a few other extensions as well, so I thought that it was not an extension problem. Well, the originator told me it had originally been a TIFF, which was the ONE FILE EXTENSION I DIDN'T TRY. :\
Anyway, that fixed it. Usually this error indicates either a corrupt file or the wrong extension, just in case anyone ever digs this convo up later. -
Problems installing plug-ins to Photoshop CS5 Extended on a new Win7 64-bit laptop. (Same CS5 and plug-ins installed OK several years ago on a Vista laptop. Now I'm just trying to migrate everything over to the new laptop.) Even some Adobe updates won't install. Instead, a message box pops up on the CS5 screen saying "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." Any solution?
CS5's automatic update mechanism is broken, perhaps because it is no longer updated and can't cope with the newer ways of updating.
So this means you will have make a list of the updates that failed, go here: Product updates
and manually download/install from there.

Saving a Photoshop CC project from a Mac (in .PSD format) to a thumb drive and trying to transfer it to a Dell laptop with Photoshop CS6. Will not open...Error message: could not complete your request because it is not a valid photoshop document.
The file was corrupted somewhere along the way (assuming it was still readable on the Macintosh).
The platforms don't matter, but you still need file transfer that doesn't corrupt files... -
Could not complete your request because it is not a valid photoshop document. Tried renaming the file extensions and still no luck.
Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details.

I have Photoshop CS3 which I have used successfully for a number of years. I now shoot pics with a Nikon DSLR D7100. When I try to open NEF files the following flag appears: "Could not complete your request because PS does not recognize this file". What do I need to do to open my NEF files?? Thanks.
Thanks for the quick reply, CP
FYI, the file is a photographic panorama based on several .CR2 photos taken in July, 2012 and processed in CS5's camera RAW/Photoshop. Beyond the metadata, here are no fonts or text in the file.
1. I changed Maximize ...File Capability from "Never" to "Always" and the flattened file saved and loaded OK, though I can't figure why given Adobe's description of this option. "If you work with PSD and PSB files in older versions of Photoshop or applications that don’t support layers, you can add a flattened version of the image to the saved file...". The file saved in this manner is ~8% larger and is not my preference as a routine since I've TB's of photo files. By the way, out of thousands of .psd/.psb files, the one being discussed is the first to give me the error.
2. I've tried saving/reloading the file on another computer with Win XP Sp3/CS5...again with Maximize Capability OFF. Same problem. Turn ON Maximize Capability and it works. As with the Win 8 machine, Bridge could neither create a thumbnail or read Metadata.
3. I've purged the Bridge Cache, made sure there were no old PS page files, reset PS preferences, and disabled my 2 plugins with no change in the problem. Windows and Adobe progs are all updated. Saving to a different HDD has no effect.
The problem occurs on 2 computers (Win XP/Win 8), two versioins of Photoshop (CS5/CS6), and "Maximize" On/Off togles the problem. My guess it is a bug in PSD processing routines.
If I can't find a fix, will keep with Maximize ON and deal with the larger files that result...the cost of insurance, I suppose.
Thanks again -
"Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document." Error
Hey,
I've been getting the "Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document." error in one of my PSDs.
Here are just some notes:
The original file type is .psd, not a tiff whatsoever, and the file extension is purely myfilename.psd, not other random weird name
PSD file (in case you need it): https://www.mediafire.com/?1xkz2aki87p3kqc
I did not update my Photoshop or anything
It'd be great if solutions were suggested, I need this PSD file recovered desperately for a project.
ThanksVery well. Try this with your Mac:
Open "new.psd" in Preview
File > Save
new.psd becomes new.png If the extension was correct, Preview would not have changed it.
it now opens in Photoshop You can download it here. ("Save image As...)
Simply put, you had the wrong extension. -
Photoshop Elements 11
Only Been using it
saying ' could not complete your request because file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop Elements'
What do i doWhich operating system are you running on?
Do you get this error when loading or using the organizer or the editor?
What are you trying to do when you get this error?
If you are using raw files, which camera (make and model) do you use to create the raw files?
If you can load the editor, which version of camera raw do you have loaded? - see Help -> about Plug-in -> Camera raw

i did try many PSD repair software but nothing works
please help me . i need those file very badly
regards
sahil !
(please ignore my bad English)It is only showing as a psd file in Windows, because it merely happens to have the extension ".psd". That does not mean that the file is an actual Photoshop file.
You could rename it to a file with a zip extension, and Windows would think it is an archive.
The extension means nothing unless the actual file data is written as a psd. And in this case it is not. You have file that is NOT a psd, with a file extension ".psd".

Error: "could not complete your request because it is not a valid photoshop document"
I was working on a PSD, which was saved to my desktop, when I decided to save it for the nth time within the hour. As I was saving it, my laptop battery died and shut down. After I replaced the battery and rebooted, the file was missing from the desktop - simply gone.
I downloaded some sketchy tools that helped me locate it - but I'm unable to recover it.
Has anyone else had the disappearing PSD issue? If so, how were you able to recover your file?Late to the party much, ssprengel?
Adamsmo1, I'm sorry to say I can't think of other means that are likely to work to get your data back.
A quick check of your temporary folder (whatever the TEMP environment variable is pointing to) might be in order, but I really hold little hope for that turning up your file.
A while back I made a suggestion to use the Recycle Bin in the future to store prior versions of files that have been overwritten by a Save (which are now just deleted). Some pooh poohed the idea, but I believe that would have saved your bacon in this case. May I suggest requesting that as a new feature:

I don't know what I did. I started messing around with After Effects and accidentally opened up Adobe Media Encoder Queue. After that, that's when I noticed the problem. I can still import the video frames into layers but I can't open it up directly. I tried opening .avi, .mkv, and .wmv files. Also just noticed I'm missing the "change timeline view into video view" button. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks.
You either borked your hardware acceleration stuff by changing graphics settings/ installing a different driver or you messed up your CoDecs (and the associated hardware acceleration options) by installing a Codec pack or alternate media player... Impossible to be more specific, since you haven't bothered to provide even the most basic system info.

I'm recieving this error on numerous files of mine (files are all fairly large)
I'm running CS, CS2 and CS3 on my machine and none will open them.
Suggestions?Assuming that each file has its appropriate extension (.psd, .tif, .jpg, etc.), I would say your files are corrupted.
This can happen in one of at least two ways:
1.—attempting to work across a network; or
2.—running NAV (Norton Anti Virus).
If your files are on a server on a network, copy the CLOSED file to your local hard drive through the Finder, then open it, edit it, CLOSE it and finally copy the CLOSED file back to the server. The reason for this is that, if the network administrator makes an error in setting up the network, opening files directly from the server or saving them directly to the server can corrupt the file permanently.
Sometimes Illustrator or Graphic Converter can open the flattened composite of such a corrupted file, but any layers will be toast.
Finally, saving a file that is over 2GB as a PSD rather than a PSB can result in an inability to ever open the file again.

Photoshop cs3 "could not complete your request because of a program error"
I have PS cs3 on powerpc mac ox 10.5.8, and have been using it for 3 years
or so perfectly. I started getting the "could not complete your request
because of a program error" when I was trying to open an ai eps (like I've
done before about 1000 times). Now, every time I open any file, I get this
error.
I removed everything PS cs3 from my computer (with the install disk) and
clean installed the program (after just throwing out the prefs, settings,
rebooting w/command/option, etc.). and now, same thing.
I called adobe support, and he said to go online, so here I am - wits end.
1. why do you think this happened initially and still (seems to be related
to fonts or the type tool because of error right away when I click that)?
2. what can I look for other than the prefs/settings that could be causing
it?
3. how do I fix it?
thanks for your help,
dan ([email protected])Thanks, but I found that this worked in another post below:
I think it was a font issue, so I cleaned out some otf and ITC TT fonts (from Classic era)
and Deleted ~/Library/Caches/Adobe folder - think this is the key!
restarted PS and it's working now!
thanks!
Happy Macing

Re: "Could not complete your request because of a program error"
FWIW, I just fixed this problem (I think) with the following:
Quit PS
Moved Stone Sans OS ITC TT out of the /Library/Fonts/ folder
Moved Stone Sans OS ITC TT out of the ~/Library/Fonts/ folder
Deleted ~/Library/Caches/Adobe folder
Restarted PS
