On AIX -- tryint go setup migrated c/s enviroment? Where do I start?

I’ve been tasked to do a proof of concept (poc) –
I need to migrate a couple of our existing client server (c/s) forms to this new AIX platform (one or two forms – with menus and toolbar icons).
So far I’ve completed the AIX install (I hope correctly – since it was really two installs)
Now I believe I need to start setting up the forms environment with variable for UI_ICON and NLS_LANG and FORMS??_DEFAULTFONT. I used to setup a path on PC’s registry for forms60_path=g:\server1\menus;g:\server1\LIB60;g:\server1\forms60 to point to our, menus, library files and tool bar graphic and pll files and fmb and fmx files. Unfortunately, I don’t know where or with what file to begin with.
I believe I’ve got the compile command down ( I know I’ll have to FTP from PC’s to UNIX and do the re-compile and make sure all the paths are changed from NT pc speak to unix paths.
(please let me know if this is wrong):
ORACLE_HOME/bin/f60gen module=ICQTYUH2.fmb userid=apps/test99 output_file=ICQTYUH2.fmx module_type=form batch=no compile_all=yes
How do I let the browser know where everything is -- do I make manual entires in a formsweb.cfg file or forms.conf file?? Any help will be appreciated – or any metalink documents or notes or “how to’s” or getting started docs etc.
I’m using Sun Java Plugins on the POC machines aka – j2se runtime environment 5.0 release 13 and also most PC’s have jinitiator 1.3.1 on them and java6 update 2 and 7.
Might be in over my head – especially since I’m not a developer – but only somewhat proficient in the web server environment setup. – Eventually, I’ll be asking this forum for help in sizing our servers -- more memory or CPU – might have to ask about web cache also.
Thanks for the help.

thanks for the info
Tons of stuff at this link.
Can you assit by narrowing it down a bit -- I did get the Migrating Client/Server To the Web -- doc from april 2002 but it doesn't assist with quesitons
like on variables to modify in the conf files.
I'm now just wanting to see the test.fmx form that comes out of box and having an issue brining it up -- must be a service not started or something:
can you say if a syntax below is wrong or not?
http://europa.starship.com:7778/forms/frmservlet?form=test.fmx&config=webutil
gives 500 Internal Server Error from Internet Explorer
Forms Servlet Error.
Missing or invalid value for baseHTML parameter.
Please check the servlet configuration to make sure this value specifies a valid file

  • Catalog Deployer - Migrating Agents . . . wheres the Dictionary?

Catalog Deployer - Migrating Agents . . . wheres the Dictionary?
With version 2008, we are able to migrate the agents from one environment to another, however I have not been able to find a way to migrate the Dictionary that each agent uses.  Is there a method to migrate the agent dictionaries?     Service dictionaries are migrating when you assemble a service package,  but the Agent package doesnt include the dictionary.

No. If it's a standard adapter and you made some changes to its properties (possible but not usually recommended), you would need to re-enter the properties in the target environment.  If it's a custom adapter, use the same procedure you used to install the adapter in the initial environment in the target environment.

  • Setups migration from one instance to another

Can any one please tell me how to migrate AME (Oracle Approval Management) setups and GL Setups?
We are using AME.B.(11.5.10.2). There will be quite a few of these setups required, and migrating by hand in all the eBS instances will be difficult.
Is there any other way (API/other tools) to achieve this? Can we use FNDLOAD?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Anugrah,
Unfortunately there isn't a facility to allow a customer iStore site to migrate from one environment to another (e.g. Test to Productions) easily. Currently the staging and migration of iStore environments are done manually, and some installations have utilized their own change control systems and adopted their own naming conventions for JSP customization and iStore content to make the environment promotion process more managable.
With that said, there are concurrent programs that allow customers to perform site administration around migrating template mappings between instances (import and export). You can refer to the iStore Implementation & Admin. Guide under the iStore Template Mapping Import / Export Concurrent Programs.

  • Yosemite setup, migration assistants and timemachine restore didn't transfer ANY files to SSD

    Hi,
I'm at a total loss after 2 days of trying to upgrade my hard disk to an SSD in my Macbook Pro.
I have tried Yosemite Setup assistant, the Migration Assistant in Utilities and Restore from Time Machine.
All 3 processes run for 5 hours and say they are transferring information with a progress bar and finish saying my mac is ready to use, but none of these processes actually transfer a single file.
At the end of 2 days, they have just created a new empty user. No user files, no applications, nothing.
Please can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Here is what I did in detail
    17" late 2011 MBP
    original 750gb HDD is full.
bought a Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD and a caddy to replace the optical drive
Left original HDD in place so I am transferring files between 2 internal drives (HDD->SSD)
installed the SSD and formatted default option Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)
    rebooted into repair partition (10.9)
Installed OS X on the SSD
Setup assistant told me it could not transfer data because the HDD had a newer OS
Skipped transfer and installed 10.10.2 Yosemite on SSD
Yosemite successfully installed and working on SSD
Opened Migration assistant on SSD in Utilities and selected everything to transfer from internal HDD to SSD
Migration Assistant runs for 5 hours and says it is complete - but not a single new file has been transferred onto the SSD!!
Read that Migration Assistant is less reliable than Setup Assistant
Follow a guide to Boot into Safe Mode on SSD, delete user folders and setupdone file to trigger setup again.
Restart SSD and use Setup Assistant as though new installation to transfer files from HDD.
Setup Assistant runs for 5 hours  transferring files from internal HDD and says it is complete - but not a single new file has been transferred onto the SSD!!
Reboot into repair partition (10.10) on SSD
Erase SSD and install Yosemite again
Setup Assistant runs for 5 hours transferring files from internal HDD and says it is complete - but not a single new file has been transferred onto the SSD!!
Reboot into repair partition (10.10) on SSD
Erase SSD and install Yosemite again
Setup Assistant runs for 5 hours and says it is complete - but not a single new file has been transferred onto the SSD!!
Reboot into repair partition (10.10) on SSD
check HDD - repair disk found B-tree node and leaf count errors fixed disk OK and repair permissions some needed fixing
    check SSD - repair permissions
Reboot into repair partition (10.10) on SSD
Erase SSD and install Yosemite again
This time connect an external HDD with Time Machine backup.
Setup Assistant runs for 5 hours transferring files from external HDD Time Machine Backup and says it is complete - but not a single new file has been transferred onto the SSD!!
2 days later I feel as empty as my new SSD: 981 GB free of 999GB
    Please help
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply
I just used Carbon Copy Cloner while waiting and it seems to have worked, except it cannot create the restore partition.
If I try again using Restore in Disk Utility in the 10.9 Recovery Partition, will it create the Recovery Partition on the SSD as well?
I was surprised that having installed Yosemite (10.10.2) on the original HDD, that the restore partition on that volume was 10.9 - how can I get my data and a 10.10 recovery partition onto the SSD?
    Thanks

  • DFS New Setup migrating from 2003 R2 file server to 2012 Server STD

We currently have a 2003 R2 flat file server with multiple layers of nested network shares with over 2.5TB of data. We want to migrate to DFS on 2012 Server standard version with deduplication enabled. We have never worked with DFS and deduplication and
any white paper on DFS and deduplication would be greatly appreciated. Not finding anything on DFS step by step for 2012 and in particular migrating from 2003 file share to 2012 server DFS.

Thank you for the URL to your DFS write up. This was very helpful in my research of DFS. I have a couple of questions. Do I have to start DFS with two servers? I completely understand why you should have more than one server in the DFS pool (high
availability) but is it necessary? Also after setting up the two 2012 Servers with DFS, namespaces, and new shares managed by DFS manager, how do we migrate (move or copy) the existing shares to new server without losing the permissions? From what I've read
in your write-up all end users with have read and write permissions and admins have full. Also is there a best practice on how nested the shares should be setup within DFS? From looking at your write up the shares are one folder deep only. At this
company I'm migrating from a file server with shares 3-8 layers deep build up over the last 20 years.

  • Possible to restore iTunes safely to a new mac (from time machine backup) without using setup/migration assistant?

    Hello all,
I have just acquired a new MacBook which I want to set up completely fresh. The only data I really need to restore/copy to it, besides a few document folders, is the iTunes library from my existing iMac. The iTunes library has been backed up using time machine on the iMac (using a portable drive). I’ve heard it might be possible for me to plug the time machine backup into the new MacBook and then option-click the time machine icon in order to 'browse other backup disks' and then restore iTunes. Would this work and would all my devices still sync with iTunes? I’m just a bit nervous because apple has migration assistant and setup assistant for doing this sort of thing - I just really don’t want to use them because the only thing I want on my new MacBook from the whole of the time machine backup is literally the iTunes library. I don’t want to start restoring user accounts which you must do with the assistants.
    Thank you.

Thank you ever so much for the replies. Just one thing: the link you provided seems to discuss restoring individual items on the computer for which a backup has been made. On my macbook I can't click "enter time machine" which I'm guessing is because the time machine backup is for my old iMac (hence my comment about control clicking the menu bar).

  • Setup / migration assistant on emac

Recently purchased macbook running os 10.5.4 with an intel processor. I am now trying to migrate applications to my emac running 10.1.5 using setup assistant or migration assistant. I cant seem to find setup or migration assistant on my emac in order for me to do this.
Any ideas on where im going wrong would be greatly appreciated.

I cant seem to find setup or migration assistant on my emac in order for me to do this.
10.1 on your eMac does not have Migration Assistant. That application is only on your 10.5 Leopard machine. The reason you can't find it is because it doesn't exist.
Also I seriously doubt if anything on the new MacBook would run on your old eMac 10.1 anyway.

  • UNIX (AIX) to LINUX Database migration

    Hi,
I need to migrate the Oracle database from UNIX(AIX) to LINUX. I have a valid license for the UNIX box but wanted to know if the same license would also work for the LINUX box as well or not. I will be using the license only on one system i.e once the migration is done the database would no longer exist or will use the License key on the UNIX box.
Is it possible to migrate the license or do I need to get a new one for the LINUX box.
    Thanks,
    Nitesh

The license is for Oracle, so you can put Oracle on what ever O/S you want without affecting the license.

  • Failure:  Setup/Migration Assistant Cannot Find Volume

I first posted this problem in an e-list. The only replies were manual work-arounds.
I want to move files, applications, user accounts, and settings from my desktop machine to an iBook. I know how to move most of these things the old, manual way by dragging, but it would be neat to use the Assistant.
On my iBook G4/1.33GHz which came with OS X 10.4.2, I reinstalled the OS (Erase and Install). The initial Setup Assistant did not see the "Main Drive" on my QuickSilver G4/733MHz running the retail version of Panther updated to 10.3.9. "Main Drive" is the only volume on an add-on internal Seagate hard drive, and it is the one I want to use for transferring files to the iBook. Setup Assistant saw all three volumes on the original IBM hard drive.
Migration Assistant is no better. I noticed in repeated attempts, that the three IBM volumes show up in the iBook's Finder, but Migration Assistant offers only one of them for selection to use, and not always the same volume each time. Would that be normal?
The iBook's Disk Utility does not see "Main Drive," but it sees the IBM volumes. On the QuickSilver, the Disk Utility in one of the IBM's volumes sees "Main Drive."
With searches using "Setup Assistant" and "Migration Assistant," I can find nothing relevant in scanning over 200 of Apple's support pages. I went through Apple's "Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4: Transferring data with Setup Assistant / Migration Assistant FAQ" at:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25773. The QS is not a server, for the purposes of volume naming conventions at:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107316
FIRST: How can I get Migration Assistant to see "Main Drive"?
OK, if there is no easy way to make "Main Drive" reveal itself, I can move files from Home>Documents and I can pick and choose from Applications and Applications Support.
For e-mail, would I move the entire folder at Home>Library>Mail?
What else would I need to move for user accounts and network settings?
    iBook G4, QuickSilver G4, PB G3 Lombard   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   QuickSilver has 10.3.9, Lombard has 9.2.1

I assume that "Main Drive" has a bootable OS on it.
If not, then the Migration Assistant won't see it.
Also, how is the "Main Drive" hooked up? IIRC, it's
through a 3rd party card, it may not work. Does it
show up on the desktop when you mount the QS to the
    iBook in target disk mode?
"Main Drive" is bootable in 10.3.9. It is on the same ATA-4 bus as the IBM drive. But it does not show up on the iBook desktop in TDM.
If it has a bootable OS installed and shows up on the
iBook when hooked up in target disk mode, the first
thing to do is boot the QS with the Panther install
disk, launch Disk Utility, and repair permissions and
repair the "Main Drive." If that passes the repair
cycle, then hook it up to the iBook in TDM, and try
    the Migration Assistant again.
Having just run Disk Utility Repair Disk Permissions from "Main Drive" after installing the Security Update 2006-004 on it, I tried TDM again from the iBook. There was no change.
I always run Repair Disk Permissions from the Disk Utility on the booted hard drive as advised elsewhere so that it is aware of all the Apple updates and third party applications.
Should I still run Repair Disk Permissions from the Panther Install CD? This is safe to do?
    Thanks.

  • Setup/Migration - Should one bother w/Tiger- Lion?

Recently bought my first new laptop in almost nine years.  I'm hesitant to try either setup or migration for several reasons:
    - old laptop is a Titanium G4 running Tiger + Jaguar
    - concerns about past disk errors and permissions issues; the G4 works fine right now, but don't want to carry over any problems
    - virtually all applications are presumably not useable on Intel MBP/could be added via web or new purchases
    - one reason to get the new laptop was to start fresh; most of what I want to transfer eventually are PDF files, music files, text files and the like; simple enough to move manually?
The big question is, will I miss out by not using Setup Assistant for Lion if I do eventually want to have the following appear on the new machine:
    - calendar, mail, address book, bookmarks
    - music files (iTunes, but also my professional recording AIFFs)
    - text docs etc.
Related to the first category in particular is a question about my iPod touch — will it help facilitate transfer of such files?  iCal no longer syncs with the cloud under Tiger, but I have everything updated on the pod.  Will I be able, either directly or via web, be able to sync or transfer those items directly to the new MBP?  Or will the process of updating (finally) to a new iOS update destroy everything on the pod?
Finally, there is also a time capsule.  Obviously I don't run Time Machine on Tiger, but it's an external HD which I can use with Apple's Backup.  Would it make a useful transfer station for either Setup or manual transfer of files?

    thomascantor wrote:

That would be tedious, and a bit cumbersome.  Since the Plan info for Backup wouldn't be on the new Mac, unless you manually copy it there, you'd have to use this workaround to restore each Plan:  Restoring backed-up files without a backup plan, and you might run into permissions problems.
Once you get your stuff transferred, and are sure it's all there and working properly, consider using Time Machine.  It's far superior to Backup.
You might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial, and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.

  • E-mail accounts setup - migrating from classic & webstar to panther

I used workgroup manager to set up accounts, enabled e-mail & selected server but when I use system admin to look at the mail email accounts none show up also I can't see any users for the ftp server. The appropriate domains have been created. I've read every thing I can get my hands on yet I'm missing something. I'm finally upgrading my server to os x from classic running webstar4.5. Any help would be appreciated. John

E-mail accounts will only show up in Server Admin once they have either received mail or been accessed via IMAP.

  • What will happen if I abort the setup/migration assistant mid process?

Hi I am transferring data to a new macbook pro.  I had my firewire cable at the ready but there was never a prompt to connect the computers so the whole process just started using wireless.  10 hours later there is still 10 hours to go and I really need to take my computer with me to work.  How bad will it be for the new macbook if I abort the process at this point?
