On cell click in a ADF table

HI
I need to select a cell in a table and display the description of that cell in a separate text field .
Table has the following columns A , A1, B , B1, C ,C1 , D , E ,F .
A1, B1 and C1 are the descriptions for A, B , C fields respectively.
so I will display the table with A,B,C,D,E,F columns and if the user selects a cell under column A then i should be able to display A1 in separate text filed and corresponding description when user selects B or C .
so basically i would like to know if there is a way that i can call a bean method when a cell is selected .
Is there a way to do this ?
Thanks in advance

The sample application includes a call to a bean method from a JavaScript function.
"The server listener component allows developers to call server side Java from JavaScript on the client. In
this example, the server listener calls the copyValueToSelectedRows method"

  • No cell merge possible with adf table?

    i know that there is no cell merge possible with adf table.
    however i read that with trinidad table it's possible.
    my table has data like this:
    d1 - tommy - 5
    d1 - tommy - 7
    d2 - burpy - 3
    d2 - burpy - 4
    d2 - tom - 7
    now i have to merge first column (dog id) where id is same -
    d1 - tommy - 5
    --- - tommy - 7
    d2 - burpy - 3
    --- - burpy - 4
    --- - tom - 7
    i am creating this dog table thru a data control on jspx page.
    can anyone suggest some help?
    or will i have to use html table for it? i really want to avoid html.
    thanks.

    Or use inlined iterators to layout the dataonly issue with pivot table is it doesn't display header for left columns unless u take ur cursor there.
    tree table is completely different kind of view - imo.
    didn't get much help on inlined iterators - can u plz post more details on this?
    thanks.

  • How to programmatically change the cell color of an ADF table ?

    Hi all,
    I have an ADF table with some fields on it. Depending on the value of a field named, say, "F1", I would like to change its background color.
    So far I can change the field color with this EL expression inside the InlineStyle table column property:
    font-size:medium; background-color:#{viewScope.myBean.setColor};
    where setColor is a bean function, in where I access the field "F1" via binding, parse its value, and return the right value - so far, so good.
    The bad thing is, the InlineStyle affects that field in all the rows of the table, while I would like to change only the field in the rows, which have that specific value in it.
    So for example having the rows:
    F1
    abc#1 ----> currently selected row
    cde#2
    efg#3
    I want to change the background color to all the F1 fields which have a "1" after the '#' and let the other "F1" row cells background color stay unchanged.
    But as you can imagine, the InlineStyle affect the "F1" background color in all the rows (assuming that the first row of the table is selected).
    So the question: how to access a single cell of a row in an ADF table, and programmatically change its background color ?
    So far I can iterate through the ADF table with:
    BindingContext bindingctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
    BindingContainer bindings = bindingctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCBindingContainer bindingsImpl = (DCBindingContainer) bindings;
    DCIteratorBinding dciter = bindingsImpl.findIteratorBinding("aTableIterator");//access the iterator by its ID value in the PageDef file
    RowSetIterator rsi = dciter.getRowSetIterator();
    System.out.println("rsi getrowcount = " rsi.getRowCount());+
    Row row = null;
    +if (rsi.getRowCount() > 0) {+
    row = rsi.getCurrentRow();
    System.out.println("row attr = " Arrays.toString(row.getAttributeNames()));+
    System.out.println("class : " row.getAttribute("F1").getClass().toString());+
    +}+
    +while (rsi.hasNext()) {+
    row = rsi.next();
    System.out.println("row attr = " Arrays.toString(row.getAttributeNames()));+
    +}+

    Hi,
    I mean a specific cell within a row.
    Here are two pictures that show an ADF table with two rows and some fields on it:
    https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=7D3084D8BF755808&id=7D3084D8BF755808!107&sc=documents#cid=7D3084D8BF755808&id=7D3084D8BF755808!107&sc=documents
    bild_A is what I have, bild_B is what I would like. Note that:
    in bild_A the first row contain a yellow background color for the field F4 and an orange background color for the field F5. This is correct, because F4 has an "1" at the end of its string value, and F5 has a "3" at the end. So far so good.
    But the second row (again, bild_A) has also the fields F4 with yellow background color, and the field F5 with orange background color, even if the value in both fields is 0.
    What is should be, is shown in bild_B.
    The problem is that the solution provided affects all the cells of the column, while I need to change the background color of a single cell, and leave the other unchanged (see bild_B).
    I hope that clarify a bit :)

  • How to set ADF table cell value in managed bean

    Hi all,
    I have an ADF table on my page, let's assume with three columns with Input text box: col A, col B and col C where column C is hidden, when I click on Submit is possible to set in managed bean the value of column C for each rows?
    Thk in advance.

    Hi,
    you can create a button with an ActionListener. In the ActionListener you can iterate over the rows (using the iterator) and set the value on the attribute. If you need to save the changes you can call the commit operation binding.

  • Populating ADF Table from Multi-Dimensional Array

    Hello!
    I'm trying to populate an ADF table from a multi-dimensional array.
    Let's say that my array is
    String [] [] myArr = new String [3][5].
    On my page backing bean, I have a private attribute called tmpArr like this...
    String [] [] tmpArr;
    ...which I will initialize later after I know the proper dimensions. The dimensions will come from a multimap that contains a key and and another array (for the key's value) containing values for the key. So once I know the dimensions I initialize my array with...
    tmpArr = new String [x][y] where x and y are the dimensions (counters).
    Now I have my multidimension array. On an jsp page I have an ADF table, and I'm setting the value for the table to the array (the table's value property is bound to the backing bean's tmpArr attribure).
    Like so:
    <af:panelForm id="availableOptions"
    binding="#{myBackingBean.availableOptionsValues}">
    <af:table emptyText="No items were found" rows="10"
    value="#{myBackingBean.tmpArr}" var='myArr'>
    Now I need to know how to do the following:
    1) Set the table's columns based on the number of attributes on the array.
    2) Set the table's rows based on the array's length.
    3) Set each table cell value to values on the array's 2nd dimension. I'm assuming that ADF takes care iterating through the array, and that I should do something like...
    <af:outputText value="#{myArr[][0]}"/>
    <af:outputText value="#{myArr[][1]}"/>
    etc...
    However, this isn't working...
    javax.faces.el.ReferenceSyntaxException: myArr[][0]
    ...bla bla bla...
    Was expecting one of:
    <INTEGER_LITERAL> ...
    <FLOATING_POINT_LITERAL> ...
    <STRING_LITERAL> ...
    "true" ...
    "false" ...
    "null" ...
    "not" ...
    "empty" ...
    <IDENTIFIER> ...
    Is there a blog or resource (article, book, etc) that shows how this is done? Anyone has done this and would like to share how?
    Thank you.

    This is in fact possible. I'm not sure about the "best practice" around doing this but there is a couple of ways to do this.
    You can either create a managed bean then right click on it and use the wizard to create a data control or you can do it as per below
    The a table will convert an array into a collection.
    Once you have created an array and generated the accessors in a bean you can then reference the mutli-dimensional array from a table as per below.
    <af:table value="#{pageFlowScope.PageBean.sessionArr}" var="row" rowBandingInterval="0" id="t1" varStatus="status">
    <af:column sortable="false" headerText="col1" id="c1">
    <af:outputText value="#{pageFlowScope.PageBean.sessionArr[status.index][0]}" id="ot1"/>
    </af:column>
    </af:table>
    String [][] sessionArr = new String[5][2];
    public void setSessionArr(String[][] sessionArr) {
    this.sessionArr = sessionArr;
    public String[][] getSessionArr() {
    sessionArr[0][0]="rice";
    sessionArr[1][0]="water";
    return sessionArr;
    EDIT: For either of the above methods the managed bean must have a scope of pageFlow or longer.
    Cheers,
    Aaron

  • Re: Getting the current selected Row & column in adf table

    Hi,
    Our requirement is we have to retrieve both the current row and column in adf table.
    We can retrieve the current row in the backing bean like
    ViewObject view = getViewObject();
    view.getCurrentRow();
    Is it possible to retrieve selected column id or column header text as we are getting for row?
    please give some sample.
    Thanks,
    Vijay.

    Hi John
    My exact requirement,
    1.     We have collection of records in adf table
    2.     Each cell in the row has commandImageLink (Like adding approver, edit approver, delete etc)
    Currently it’s working fine for me in the commandImageLink listener, but the problem is table is refreshed 2 time,
    while selecting a record and commandImageLink is clicked, I have to avoid 2 times refreshing,
    If it’s possible to identify a particular cell in the row selection, I can avoid the image link listener.
    we are using Jdeveloper11.1.1.4.0
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

  • How  to retrieve a column field value from an ADF table ?

    All,
    I have a backing bean where I have bounded a field of an ADF table.
    I would like, in the bean, to read the value of that field so that I can use it inside a task flow router.
    The question: how to read a value from a ADF table column field ?
    In the bean I have the getter and setter of the RichInputText ADF table field. But when I type:
    System.out.println("the name is: " + this.getName().getValue());
    or
    System.out.println("the name is: " + this.Name().getValue());
    I get a null pointer exception.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sergio.

    Thanks Marvin, but this is not really what I'm looking for. Or at least, it does not sounds like to be :)
    I need to get the value contained in a row cell of an ADF table.
    Let's say the table (two rows, three cells) contains these values:
    "table_A", "123", "John"
    "table_B", "456", "Peter"
    When I click on the first row, I need the value: "table_A". Once I got that value, I extract the last char, in this case: "A", and then I call a specific task flow from a task flow router (specified in the task flow router Cases property).
    When I click on the second row, the same process applies, only the router now points to another flow view.
    So to summarize, I need to get the value of a row cell in an ADF table. How to do that from within a javaBean in JDeveloper 11g Release 2 ?
    This is what I have in the bean; so far I've bounded the related row cell (herkunft) to the bean. Each time I select a row on the ADF table, the function setHerkunft() runs - I see that from within the JDeveloper console - but when I try to get its value, I get a null value - hence the surrounding if statement.
    package bean;
    import javax.faces.component.UIComponent;
    import javax.faces.context.FacesContext;
    import javax.faces.event.ValueChangeEvent;
    import oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.input.RichInputText;
    +public class taskFlowBean {+
    public RichInputText herkunft;
    public static String taskFlowView = "C";
    +public taskFlowBean() {+
    System.out.println("taskFlowBean constructor call");
    +}+
    +public void setHerkunft(RichInputText herkunft) {+
    System.out.println("set herkunft");
    this.herkunft = herkunft;
    if (this.getHerkunft().getValue() != null )
    System.out.println("herkunft is: " + this.getHerkunft().getValue());
    +//here taskFlowView will set accordingly with the herkunft value.+
    +}+
    +public RichInputText getHerkunft() {+
    System.out.println("get herkunft");
    return herkunft;
    +}+
    +public String getTaskFlowView() {+
    System.out.println("get taskFlowView ! : " this.taskFlowView);+
    return this.taskFlowView;
    +}+
    +}+

    JDev 11.
    I have a table which is populated with data from Bean.
    I need to save changes after user make changes in any table cell. InputText is defined for table column component.
    I have defined ValueChangeListener for inputText field and AutoSubmit=true. So when user change value in inputText field, method is called:
    public void SaveMaterial(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) {
    getSelectedRow();
    SaveMaterial(material);
    This method should call getSelectedRow which take values from selected table row and save them into object:
    private Row getSelectedRow(){
    RichTable table = this.getMaterialTable();
    Iterator selection = table.getSelectedRowKeys().iterator();
    while (selection.hasNext())
    Object key = selection.next();
    table.setRowKey(key);
    Object o = table.getRowData();
    material = (MATERIAL) o;
    System.out.println("Selected Material Desc = "+material.getEnumb());
    return null;
    Problem is that getSelectedRow method doesnt get new (edited) values, old values are still used.
    I have tried to use ActiveButton with same method and it works fine in that case. New values are selected from active row and inserted into object.
    JSF:
    <af:table var="row" rowSelection="single" columnSelection="single"
    value="#{ManageWO.material}" binding="#{ManageWO.materialTable}">
    <af:column sortable="false" headerText="E-number">
    <af:inputText value="#{row.enumb}" valueChangeListener="#{ManageWO.SaveMaterial}" autoSubmit="true"/>
    </af:column>
    <af:column sortable="false" headerText="Description">
    <af:inputText value="#{row.desc}" valueChangeListener="#{ManageWO.SaveMaterial}" autoSubmit="true"/>
    </af:column>
    </af:table>
    <af:activeCommandToolbarButton text="Save" action="#{ManageWO.EditData}"/>
    What is a correct place from where save method should be called to get new (edited) values from ADF table?
    Thanks.

    Did you look into the valueChangeEvent?
    It has oldValue and newValue attributes.
    public void SaveMaterial(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) {
    Object oldVal = valueChangeEvent.getOldValue();
    Object newVal = valueChangeEvent.getNewValue();
    // check if you see what you are looking for.....
    getSelectedRow();
    SaveMaterial(material);
    }Timo
