On Connecting to Computer my File Arrangement is Mixed up and Some Deleted!

Hello,
Although on my iPod 30GB Summary Tab on iTunes, I have already ticked the option which says, 'Manually Manage Music and Videos', it seems that iPod Sync is somehow working, even at the top of the page it writes 'iPod sync is complete' which is unsolicited!
The problem is tht whenever I am online and attach my iPod to my computer, my files on my iPod get deleted and moved. I don't know why. It appears to be beyond my control.
Should I remove a tick somewhere? Have I, by accident, activated something which I shouldn't have?
I'd be happy if you could advise me on how I can have full control over what comes into and what goes out of my iPod? The strange thing is that when I scroll up and down on my iPod files, I see that I have a folder; however, once I select it, it is empty. Oh my Gosh! What happened. All the content has disappeared into thin air. Please help me!

I had the same problem but i am not an expert, but ill try to help you. You have clicked MANUALLY MANAGE...right?
So if you have tried to fool with the tabs that say" Movies or GAMES or MUSIC...." go through there and make sure that no boxes are ticked. Now that should take care of it....Post back if you have problems...oh, make sure you press APPLY at the bottom or when it asks you.

All the music that has been deleted of your iPod has been put back in your library and i have noticed that if you want all your music on there but dont want to click all the songs, just go to the tabs on the iPod page and click al the ones you want(yes, it is contrary to what you want but wait). let them load to your Ipod and then click manually manage. They should stay on there now.

Should I "restore previous session" when that one was a viral link which emptied my computer email files?; if not how do a delete that message?

I just opened a link in an email message. It, in turn opened another. I suspected a virus, and did a virus scan. Now when I try to re-open my computer's email program it asks me to create a new account with a new password. I suspect all my email files are lost. And when I open Firefox it asks if I want to "restore previous session", but that one could be the viral link. How do I delete the "restore... message?

Set the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes] to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.
That will allow you to deselect the tab(s) that you do not want to reopen, but will allow to reopen other tabs.

You can also delete the file sessionstore.js in the Firefox Profile Folder to prevent a session from getting restored, but that will also remove the App Tabs and Tab Groups that are stored in the same file.

How to delete in iTunes for Mac some PDF files, previously synched with iPhone and then deleted from it?

A while ago I synced some PDF files from my iTunes to my iPhone. I've deleted those PDF files from my iPhone recently but now i'm trying to delete them from iTunes but can't. How can this be done?
P.S. Tried to select/highlight them (OK) and then to delete with cmd+Backspace - doesn't work

A cleaning utility deleted my browsing history! My fault! I want to re-open the old pages and tabs. The info may be in an old "sessionstore.js" or "places.sqlite" file but these are huge and some URLS are written backwards. Where do I start please?

I have copied "places.sqlite" and given it a .txt extension, then opened in Wordpad - but it's huge - I don't know what order it's in and many of the URLS are written backwards - like "moc.smooretal.www" instead of "www.laterooms.com."
Similarly there are several numbered versions of sessionstore.js in the profile and these can be opened with a text editor too. But if I simply substitute the current sessionstore.js file with an older (numbered) one in the profile, Firefox seems to ignore it.
So:
1. Is there a method of re-installing the "history" sites list or "previously opened pages and tabs" from the 'places.sqlite' file, or from a previous sessionstore.js file (and if so how do I go about it ?)
2. If not, is there an alternative source of browsing history back-up which I can use or
3. If not that either, is there at least a way of reversing the backwards text so I can read the URLs and copy/paste them?
All knowledgeable help much appreciated.

Firefox has other backups it makes automatically, unfortunately your cleaning utility may have wiped them.

sessionstore.js files probably are of little use to you, containing only the tabs & windows from recent close downs, not the full history and bookarks.
Now that any existing files are safe try to see if any backups exist that firefox created automatically

Unknown file has appeared on desktop and wont delete

After checking emails and surfing the web for a while I went back to my desktop and found an unknown excel file on there called 38DB0D00 which wouldn't let me open it or delete it with cmd+backspace.
Is it malicious? How do I get rid of it?

What does the Finder displays when you try to open or delete ? right click on the file and choose Get Info and check the Sharing & Permissions section to notice who is the owner and what are the permissions and notice if the Locked option is ticked .

Can I sync database files over to Mobile Me and then from MobileMe to iPod?

Many programs will allow you to sync over Mobile Me and but not over a USB connection. Can I sync the files on my Mac to Mobile Me and then sync them to my iPod when I am somewhere that has a WiFi connection? I am asking this because the place I work does not have WiFi and I need to have a WiFi connection to sync database files (such as OmniFocus, Billings, and Bento.)

I don't think that it is broken. I think that it is intentional ( by design). Possibly to make it more difficult to use ipod touch to pirate/steal music/movies/etc.
The ipod touch and iphone have never had this feature.

How do I find a previous windows version. It's telling me to copy files and then delete old version.

When I got on my laptop today, I saw that there was a message from HP Support Assistant. It says that I have an older versions of windows and that the previous versions of windows was saved in a folder c:\windows.old. it says that the folder is very large and it recommends me coping any old files I want to keep and then delete the Windows.old to free up more disk space. It has a help column that says, "How do I backup my files from Window.old? When I do what it tells me to do, I can't find it. Could someone please help me? Thanks you.

Preview doesn't show actual file in acrodat 9 std and Adobe reader

I am creating files in adobe Creative suite 5 and saving it has PDF file. When I try opening this file in Acrobat 9 std or adobe reader the print preview does not match the actual file what I mean by that some of the back ground shade colour are missing. When printing the file to print the shade and some of the print section are also missing.

Recieving A.I. files that have everything grouped and masked. What could cause this?

I recieve A.I. files from other art departments and some that I open will have every object grouped and masked.
I'm not able to select one thing until I select the outside box with the white selector and delete the masks.
I'm using CS4 Illustrator. Why would everything be grouped and masked several times over.

Is it possible to connect my home computer to files stored on my running osx server mac via VPN. I have VPN set up and can access the Calendar and Contacts via a web browser, however I want to be able to access data files store on the hard drive and shared external drives connected to it. The MacPro runs OSX Server Lion. Any Ideas if this is even possible or how to do it!

Yeah, that's what I kinda figured. Maybe there is another solution - here is my situation:
I have internet and cable service through Telus. Telus' system consists of a modem/set-top-box that provides internet (ethernet and wifi) and TV signal (corded) for one TV and another set top box that provides internet (ethernet only) and TV signal (corded) for my other TV in the basement.
I have an Airport Extreme connected to the modem upstairs which I am using as my home network wifi. I also have an external hard drive (USB) connected to it on which my iTunes library is shared with all Apple machines in my home network.
My upstairs ATV, connected to my APE, works fine and streams internet (Netflix), iTunes Store and my shared iTunes drive just fine - the APE is 3 feet away with a great signal.
My downstairs ATV, also connected to my APE via wifi, does not stream so well, particularly the media from the shared drive. I suspect that this is the case because of signal degredation.
Any suggestions on how to reconstruct my home network to enable my downstairs ATV to work properly?

For the "Arangements" option to appear, the external display must be turned on with the correct input selected and connected to the computer. Then close system prefs, reopen, go to "Display" and "Arrangement" will be along the top.

Cannot get Win8 Pro computer run the Connect a Computer to the Server Wizard (computerconnector) of Essentials 2012

I've spent 1/2 the day trying to troubleshoot this problem and finally give up.
My client has a Windows Server 2012 Essentials server (with all updates installed - no errors in error logs nor SFC /SCANNOW). Purchased a new Windows 8 Pro computer, which we installed all the updates from Windows Updates and are now trying to join
the domain using the "Microsoft way" (i.e.: http://[servername]/connect).
The site comes up and it prompts us to download the software and run... so far so good, but when we get to the screen where it asks, "Type your new network user name and password" - the next screen after that we get the error, "Cannot connect
this computer to the network...".
I've been looking at cases all day long through Microsoft and Google - all pointing to problems with the SSL on the server - that's not the problem here (as other workstations have, in the past, successfully connected and we verified today that the local
server certificate is what is the default, as it should be).
I've tried just about everything I can think of and cannot get this silly wizard to work (why Microsoft, WHY!??!?!). Yet, I can join this domain just fine doing it through normal means. I've even tried joining the domain this way, and tried installing
the software afterwards (as the Essentials Console won't reflect the new workstation, thus it won't add it to group policies etc... though yes, I could manually do that and have - but we'd still like to get it to show up in the console). I even
tried the trick noted in a KB talking about running the connect software without joining the domain (registry key that gets added) - that didn't work either.
I'm out of ideas - and at this point had to get the client online and working today - so we joined it manually, configured it and left it. But I would like to get this fixed the "proper" way. Help?
I do have the clientdeploy.log file - which only points out an internal error, but I'm unsure how to enable the improved logging it suggests (I'll gladly post the logs if someone tells me how - I'll skip posting the log file here for now):

Before going further, please uninstall the Connector software from Control panel. Then connect again, will
the same issue persists? Would you please use another client to connect with the Server 2012 Essentials by using this way? Then monitor the result. Please make sure the computer has a physical connection to the local network.

IPod 80 GB Classic will no longer connect to computer

All these problems started yesterday afternoon. Earlier that morning, I had synched my iPod with a few new songs without any problems. Then, I wanted to add more that night and all of a sudden, the problems began. My iPod will no longer stay connected to my computer properly. It will connect and will show up on my computer and I can access my files on it for a few seconds before I get an error message saying that the device is no longer plugged in or readable. Then, the iPod icon will disappear, iTunes won't recognize that it is plugged in, yet on my iPod screen it shows that it is connected. I tried to find help on Apple's site but none of their solutions helped and they wanted $30 to assist me, which I think is a little odd.
Is there any way to try to fix my iPod? I would like to sync new songs to it but again, with the problems it won't let me. The only other solution is to try to restore my iPod but it will erase all the songs on it and I don't have backups of them on my computer so once they are gone, they are gone. It would take a long time to get them all back and I can't use a program to rip them off my iPod because, again, it won't stay connected long enough and some of the songs I have are very rare to get ahold of.
I've gone through many steps to try to fix it. I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it. I've gone through so many help threads on the support section of the the Apple page and nothing helped. I haven't tried a restore yet because I don't want to lose all my songs. Any ideas as to what is happening? I can't have a warranty repair because I got it as a gift over two years ago.

It is on step 6.
Restore would reformat your iPod Hardisk, if it is still in good condition, but some iPod Hardisk may be damage, due to abuse and misuse, so the Restore would fail.
For a successful Restore, I would also suggest that
Disconnect all other USB devices
Use the USB2.0 port
Do not use any USB Hub.

Either it won't display on the projector at all. Once it displayed but the presentation mode was on the big screen and the presentation I wanted to show was on my MBP screen. I have the adapter( white ones) to attached to the projector cables. I am so frsutrated...it looks so silly not to have a computer work during a presentation..
Another problem one the rare occasion that it shows on the screen is that the presentation does show just my desk top. Any ideas?

You often have to turn off Mirroring to be able to set the second "screen"s resolution to something reasonable. When you do, the two screens become an "Exceeded Desktop" joined along one edge, and the Arrange pane in displays prefs can allow you to specify what edge. Initially, it will show a vacant extension of the built-in screen's desktop.
The mouse moves freely across that shared edge, and can allow you to drag the presentation window across to the the projector screen and re-size it to fit.
