Online Consistent brbackup - How does SAP lock the archive files?

With an Oracle online consistent brbacup, i believe that SAP locks the archive log files so they are not deleted during the backup.
How do they do this?
If a backup crashes how do I unlock these locks?

Here is the statement (from the netbackup trace)  that caused brachive to stop.
Set file /oracle/BP1/oraarch/BP1arch1_207989.dbf to QUIESCE status.

  • How does oracle suggest the archive log

    Hi All,
My question is about user managed backup and recovery.
For User managed hot database refreshes.
We  create a new controlfile and do cancel based recovery.
How does oracle suggest the next archive to apply when we do "recover database using backup controlfile until cancel;"
I mean we created a new control file ..rt.
where is the information about the archivelogs stored.
    Thanks,
    Silver

    In the controlfile.
The "using backup controlfile" means using a backed up controlfile, and you want to fool Oracle into thinking a point in time recovery will happen so don't use what would be the controlfiles current scn time to automatically say the recovery is complete.  If you have created a new controlfile, all it can know about is where the logs should be and compare to what log sequences the datafile headers have.  So it uses the init.ora parameters and what the data file headers have in them to figure it out. http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:3151992035532#36651366990046
If you backup controlfile to trace you can see log files that have the incarnation history.  See "Recovering Through a RESETLOGS with a Created Control File"  in Performing User-Managed Recovery: Advanced Scenarios

  • How to set/get the archive file attribute?

I am programing a (freeware!) ftp client and need to know, how to set/get the archive attribute of a local file. I was searching through whole the i-net - nothing at all!
    please help me!!

    Hi,
Since not all operating systems support the archive attribute, this ain't included in the JDK.
If you're using Microsoft Foundation Classes for Java, then you can use File.getAttributes(String path) and check whether the result equals FileAttribute.ARCHIVE.
For setting the attribute, you can use
    File.setAttributes(String path, FileAttribute.ARCHIVE)
Of course this is all Microsoft-specific stuff.
    Hope this helps,
    Kurt.

  • How does sap do the material determination for IDOC/EDI?

how SAP do the material determination for inbound PO?
If customer send in their material# or UPC code or buyer material#, what is the order of material determination?
    PO1*7CA**UN005650060211VN41112IN515734µ

    Hi Samuel,
If the customer sends in their material number this need to be mapped with the value '001' to the field E1EDP19-QUALF and the material number mapped with E1EDP19-IDTNR.
This value is referenced with the CMIR ( Customer material info record) and the vendor's material number is determined which would be used to create the sales order from the inbound PO.
As Such the order of the material determination is depends upon the order it appears in the IDOC.That means the mapping done at the EDI subsystem determines the order of the E1EDP19 segments.
Common practice in EDI inbound P.O scenario, customers send their material number and the vendor material number is determined from the KNMT table. To find the unique material number we need to supply the sales area details as well.
I hope this is answered your question.
Feel free to get back to me if you have any questions.
    Thank you.

  • Screen Share - How does one lock the remote computer screen?

Using Screen Share in Lion I am unable to lock the remote users screen.

I use JollysFastVNC as my local client, and remote screen lock used to work with Snow Leopard.  They have a note on their website that it doesn't work with Lion, when I try it kicks me out of the session.
I wonder if Apple removed this feature and reserved it for Apple Remote Desktop?

Um...have you compared when specifying v = 0x0FFFF, as an arbitrary example?
Edit All right I'll be a little more specific. How the heck would your Test1 method know if it's only being passed int values <= 255?
Edited by: endasil on Nov 6, 2007 8:48 PMI see, well, why would it care? all it does is take int and store it into a byte. what else could it do with an int and byte array? Also, if you wanted to check for values <= 255 one could simply add asm code to do that, after all, Test2.test2() has a signature of ([BI) that is (byte[] ba, int v). So, if the method wants to fool around with v* it can iload_1* and do any comparison tests, ifeq* etc..., and latter stuff it into byte array using bastore* without the unnecessary i2b* call.
I just don't see the use of the i2b* instruction if bastore* could careless. Will this cause the stack to become unlined and cause trouble program down-the-line in execution? I am thinking that I loaded an int*, +4bytes+, but only consumed 1byte. But now that I think about it, iload_1 loads an int* onto local heap so it should get cleaned up when the program exits. So, as long as I made bastore* the last instruction in the program I shouldn't have a problem. Or maybe this doesn't matter either?
*Also, since ba is an byte[] why would I want to check it for anything other than a byte value? if I wanted to get an int I would have created an int[]*
My point is that as long as one wants to stuff an int into a byte array the i2b instruction is overkill, albeit not much, and I just do see the usefulness of it.
This is for when I do something like, byte_array[i] = '-', and the compilers say loss of information and I cast '-' to (byte)'-', meaning I don't care if I loss any information. but it called i2b anyways byte_array[i] = '-' yields the same result.
I just didn't understand what was behind this.
Does that answer that question or am I missing anything?

  • When creating Outbound Delivery, how does SAP propose Delivery Type?

    Hi,
in VL01N, when i create an outbound delivery i can create it with reference to an SO or without reference to an SO.
But how does SAP know the delivery type to use?
I don't know where to really look.
    in SPRO i went to:
Logistics Execution ---> Shipping --> Deliveries
but all i saw was delivery type definition.
then i went down the path:
LE --> Shipping --> Copy Control --> Specify Copy Control for Deliveries
then i found a table linking Sales Order Types and Delivery Types.
However, we use SO doc. type Z*** for example but I see that there are multiple entries for it linking to various delivery types including LF and another custom Z*** delivery type.
My question is, how is the system choosing which delivery type to use?
Is it maintained in customer master or at config level?
    Thanks.

    Hi Gavin,
If you check VOV8 for example standard order (OR), the delivery type is LF. Here you can define only delivery type person SO. Hence you will not find SO to LF relation as 1:N but will surely find N:1.
Item category just defines the billing relevance of the item. Hence if billing is delivery related then delivery will be created for the item.
Now once order is created when tried to deliver, it will know that LF is the delivery type from VOV8 and from item it will know he should deliver it or not.
Hope this is clear now. Reward if helpful.
    Kind regards
    sandeep

  • How does SAP populates COEP-GKONT field?

I dont know if this is the right firum/section that I entered, but I have a problem.
How does SAP populates the COEP-GKONT.
This is an offset account that (someone) SAP decides for a particular line item in a document, what the offset account is.
You can see the field using the KSB1 cost center line item report.  For example in SI4 you can pull CC C100388888, period 01 and year 2007 and just execute.
Then you can pull this field into the display layout.
If you double-click on the line you get taken to an FI document.
Somehow SAP decides what the offset account should be.  It looks like if the item you drilldown on is a debit, then SAP looks for a credit line item and populates the offset account value.
What I don’t understand is how SAP chooses this if there are multiple credits.  I don’t know if it just takes the first one or what.

  • How do you lock a wav file to a video file in imovie?

I am importing separate wav and video files.  How do I lock the audio file to the video file after I sync them so that when I cut any video the audio stays in sync?  Or is there a way to embed the new audio into the video footage?

You can do that in Final Cut Pro X, but not in iMovie.
A good workaround in iMovie is to line up the WAV file with your video clip. Then use SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME/Movie to QuickTime Movie/Options/Video Options/Compression/Apple Intermediate Codec. Save this file to a place you can find it. Then import it back into iMovie using FILE/IMPORT MOVIE...

  • Are Hyper-V 2012R2 checkpoints Application data consistent? How does it use now VSS during checkpoints creation?

Are Hyper-V 2012R2 checkpoints Application data consistent? How does it now use VSS during checkpoints creation?
I read the article http://www.aidanfinn.com/?p=15759 that now WS2012 R2 Hyper-V changed how it performs backups.
That is unofficial info.  I can't find any info about that in msdn, but that is critical. That is about data integrity.
    Is this true?
Does this mean that we may not use VSS in Hyper V server backup application any more? Will Hyper-V 2012R2 host (WM is running) when i am creating a checkpoint,
call VSS to only flush VSS Writers during this process for target child VM to make application data crash consistent state? And the volume shadow copy wn't be used? Only vhdx +avhdx witch will merged later, right?

There are a couple levels to this.
If VSS is there, VSS is used (just as before).  But there is a bit more happening around it than simply placing the VM in a saved state.
However, if VSS is not there (in the VM) then the behavior is slightly different (this is really to support Linux VMs that don't support VSS) - and still achieve a good VM backup.
In another blog post I see it described this way:
Online backup for Linux VMs – even though there’s no VSS support in Linux, the Microsoft guys have managed to find a way to create consistent backups of running Linux VMs, by doing what’s essentially called a “filesystem freeze” by briefly stopping
all disk I/O inside the VM until the host creates a VSS snapshot of the VM on the host (thus getting a file-consistent backup with zero downtime) – once the snapshot is done, disk I/O is resumed and then the actual file copy process starts
    Flemming shows the process here:
    http://flemmingriis.com/changes-in-hyper-v-backup-in-2012-r2/
If you are calling VSS to perform a backup - nothing has changed.  The only thing that has changed is the 'how it happens' , not the 'what you get' and 'how you call it'
This way if you call VSS to perform a backup - you get a good one, no matter the OS in the VM, nor its support for VSS.

How do you lock the screen on iphone 4 while on a call? I mute calls, activate face time and I have even called someone by accident during a call. I know there has to be a way to fix this. Please HELP!

It locks automatically when you hold it to your head.
If it fails to do this, then remove the case and see if it solves it.
If it does not, then do the basics - restart, reset, restore.

  • How does OEM monitor the weblogic domain

    Hi Guys,
I would like to know how does the OEM monitor the weblogic domain, i.e where does the em agent (in the target host) check to determine if the weblogic domain is up or down ?
    - Does OEM fetch data regarding managed server from admin server ?
    - Does managed servers show up in OEM if the admin server console is down but the managed server is up ? (i think it does show up, even if the admin is down but then how/where does it get to know the status)
    - Is there any settings in the weblogic to be set ?
    - Does the behavior of weblogic EM console and the OEM grid console are same ?
Basically want to understand, how and what all needs to check when the domain is showing down in OEM (when domain is up and running in weblogic console and the agent is perfectly fine)
Similarly for the Database how does it check the status "up or down"
    - does it try to make a connection to the db ?
    - if so where do we give the details for the db connection user and password ?
Please help me in understanding these.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Harish

If the targets are actually up and showing down in OEM console , so it means something wrong with the configuration .
Can you check the error message in the console , why it is down ? Or you can also check agent logs on the target server.
To monitor the weblogic , it uses username used during the configuration.
Please check the picture at below link :
    Discovering Middleware Targets
Enter the WebLogic Administration Server user name and password. If you want to discover the target only for monitoring purposes, then it is sufficient to provide a user name that has a monitoring role. If you want to monitor the target and also perform start/stop operations, then ensure that you provide a user name that has either an operator role or an administrator role.Note: There is the potential of account locking issues if you enter the default WebLogic user name, and the account password is changed without updating the Enterprise Manager monitoring credentials for the Domain and Farm.
    Thanks
    Rajesh
