Online Shared Review does not work

Hi
I have just bought Acrobat 9 Pro (which costs a fortune!) and am rather disappointed with a few things. I'll ask about one of them to start with.
I have created a PDF and sent it to a collaborator for shared review, who does not have Acrobat but does have Adobe Reader. She is not a member of acrobat.com, but is not offered to join during the process.
She can download the file and open it with Adobe Reader (showing the extended toolbar) but cannot connect to the server. A message states that she is probably disconneted from the internet, but this is not true.
She is allowed to work offline and then email the document with her comments, but this is not what I want. I want comments to stay online for other reviewers to see.
She had Adobe Reader 8 so downloaded and installed Adobe Reader 9 but this did not solve the problem. The message however changed slighty to: "The shared review location on share.acrobat.com could not be written to, or the server has run out of disk space".
Anyone knows what could be the problem?
Thank you
Isabel

Hi,
Yes, I am getting all the questions and answers that are being posted in the forum. it goes to the junk mail and I have to clean it every day, because there are so many problems with the new Adobe, and people send so many emails. Do you know how I can stop this? Thanks a million.
Here is an example:
BigDog. Like Ramón mentioned, Adobe is a company not an application so it would help to know what application you are using and what version number you have. Also, what exactly are you doing when you get that error (please give step by step details).
The more info you can give, the better chance you have of getting a solution.

  • Shared variable does not work between two computers

I am using LabVIEW 8 on Windows XP computers.
    1. On one computer I have created two projects, writeProject and readProject.
    2.  In the writeProject I have a shared variable, writeData, which is "network-published" double. In this project I have a writeData.vi which in while loop assigns a random value to the writeData variable.
    3. In the readProject I have a shared variable, readData, which is "network-published" double and is bound to the writeData variable.  This is on the same computer as the writeProject.
    4. I run both the writeData.vi and the readData.vi and all works fine.
    5. Now, I create a readProject on a diferent computer.  Perform all the steps as described above and also in tools/shared variable/register computer, I have entered the IP address of the target computer on which the writeData shared variable exists.
    6. Binding the readData variable fails in the following way.  When I browse for the source, in the "Select Source Item" dialog, I see <IP> <Populating Node...>, where <IP> is the IP address of the source computer (on which exists the writeData shared variable).  A very long time later it is still "Populating Node...".  Neddless to say, this readData.vi does not work!
What am I doing wrong?  Or, perhapse what else do I need to do to make it work?

  • "more reviews" does not work

The "more reviews" button in app store does not work at all. Now all apps stuck with only 5 reviews.

I have found that sometimes the more button works in iOS 6.  Strange behaviour I must admit.
More annoyingly however, is that Apple have removed the ability to sort by dates or relevance and the ability to look at all or just current version.
I am not sure what the Beta testers were doing with this version with the amount of bugs that people are finding.
Why do they insist on removing very useful features!

  • Shared Review does not email invitations to reviewers

I teach Acrobat in a junior college. I have used the Shared Review feature in Acrobat Pro 9 many times including sending a shared review to the entire class. I just tried doing that again and no one received an email invitation. I tried it again and had the same results.
When I open the Shared Review file on my PC, I get the "Welcome Back" dialog box with all the student emails listed (see SharedReview-1.jpg). I click OK.
Then I choose Track Reviews and that screen opens (see SharedReview-2.jpg).
If I click Email All Reviewers, I get an error message: "An Error Occured While Sending Email."
I sent a shared review to myself and that invitation came through properly. I sent the link in that email to students asking them to access the review that way. They were able to download the file and add a comment but the Publish Comments option did not work.
    Your thoughts.
As an aside: Is there an upper limit to the number of persons who can participate in a shared review? I'm wondering if that is what is causing the initial Shared Review to fail. I listed 27 email addresses in the To: field.
    Jeff Sengstack

I have been having trouble, both from home and last week from the college I teach at. I was using the Acrobat.com method for a shared review, and the emails did not go out from home this morning.
Last week, at the college, I had to send all emails via my web email client, because we cannot have a "normal" email client working at the college on the lab computers. As an adjunct that is all I have access to at the college.
What configuration is needed for email invitations to go out successfully?

I found this note in the LV2010 help, I wonder if this could be related to your problem...
Note  You can use scaling only for network-published
shared variables, I/O variables, or I/O aliases. When the shared
variable you want to scale is a network-published shared variable, it
must have a data source. Configure a network-published shared variable
to have a data source by placing a checkmark in the Enable Aliasing checkbox on the Variable page of the Shared Variable Properties dialog box.

  • Cross-origin resource sharing (CORS) does not work in Firefox 13.0.1 or 6.0.2

I have a simple Java HttpServlet and a simple JSP page. They are both served by a WebSphere Application Server at port 80 on my local host. I have created a TCP/IP Monitor at port 8081 in
Eclipse IDE so as to create a second origin. The protocol output further down comes from this monitor. This should work equally well on a simple Tomcat server.
When I perform the cross-origin resource sharing test, I see that all of the correct TCP data is exchanged between Firefox and the web server (i.e. HTTP OPTIONS and its response followed by an HTTP POST and its response) but the data in the body of the POST response is never passed to the XMLHttpRequest javascript object's responseText or responseXML variables and I get a status equal to 0. If I click the button while pressing the keyboard control key then the test will work as it will not be performed as a cross-origin request.

No errors in error console. No effect using *. I tried using the dns name of my localhost both in the Firefox URL and in the javascript and I get exactly the same. I have spent a huge amount of time looking into this issue.
One thing I noticed is that if I use the examples on the internet (http://arunranga.com/examples/access-control/preflightInvocation.html or http://saltybeagle.com/cors/) they work in the same browser. These examples however, are accessed through HTTP proxies.
I am wondering if the issue has to do with using the same hostname just with different ports.

  • Linux shared library does not work in fedora core 4

I have transferred an application that ran perfectly on fedora 3 to fedora 4.  It uses a shared library that I wrote in C.
The vis no longer appear to recognise this file as a  shared
library.  I have recompiied the library in fedora 4 but this makes
    no difference.
    Any ideas?

    Hi jbroughton,
There are few things that I need to know in order to investigate why your file is no longer being recognised:
What version of LabVIEW are you using?
What is your kernal version of federa four?
Is your application a built executable?
What is your librarying doing currently when you try to call it? If any error popups what are the error codes and messages you are getting?
Can you call your C library outside of LabVIEW?
    Thanks

  • One mac, two users, same Quicken - shared file does not work.

As stated I have two users, both administrators, on the one machine and I can not find a way to allow read/write access to the one quicken account. How do I set this up correctly. I do have an external firewire hard drive set up to allow access to photo and media files. If that is my only option to have permissions ignored, what part of Quicken files do I set up on the external? ?only the backup? Would a separate disc image on the internal HD do the same thing?
    Thanks in advance.

You can't. Each datafile is associated with a specific user and thus its permissions dictate what can be done with it. IMHO, it's best to use two datafiles, one for each user. Non-Apple application peculiarities are best addressed at that app's forums. In this case, visit http://www.quickencommunity.com/ and post to the appropriate forum.

  • Bank webpage does not work no matter which browser I use

    HHello
I tried all the browsers, I still cant use my bank's website, I think they run a script, to make a payment, I click on which account I want to use in a list in a table in the top of the page, and I choose the beneficiary from a drop down menu, which then displays my bill, I click on that, then I push the submit button, and the payment goes through. This works on every PC I've used, but not on the Mac. Any idea how to fix this?
Also, my online trading page does not work, it just says, error, reload, which never works.
I can’t do any work on this computer, this is very annoying.
    Thanks

Tom is absolutely correct that the fist step should be to contact the bank and trading account and ask them if they support Macs (and if not, why not).
Taking it a step further, while some websites are coded using Microsoft webpage coding tools that generate non-standard HTML, or use ActiveX to implement page features (never mind that ActiveX is notoriously a huge security loophole --- just what you waqnt on a financial website, no?), and those pages will only work with Internet Explorer under Windows, a depressing number of websites are coded using proper HTML and Java instead of ActiveX, but the pages are coded to check the browser type ("user agent") and refuse to work if the browser doesn't report that it's IE/Windows. This is usually done so that the programmers don't have to bother to check their coding on other platforms or browsers, in the belief that doing so makes for more efficient (read: cheaper) development.
You can check if that's the case with the sites you're trying to use by enabling the Debug menu in Safari, then uing that Debug menu to set the User Agent to be MSIE Windows.
To enable Safari’s Debug Menu, open Applications> Utilities> Terminal when Safari is closed and enter:
    defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1
Restart Safari to see the Debug Menu.

  • Home sharing does not work after update to snow leopard 10.6.4 and iTunes 9

I am using home sharing since about a year without any problems. After updating to snow leopard 10.6.4 and iTunes 9.2 it suddenly does not work anymore.
On my iMac and my Mac Book Pro I get error code 3259 and it tells me to check my firewall and to enable Port 3689.
I did not change anything in the firewall settings, itunes on both allows data traffic in both directions. I also do not find any option to activate a port ( also wondering why this is suddenly now necessary)
I deactivated home sharing on both machines and enabled it again. It still does not work.
On both machines iTunes displays the the library on the left side but like said it is not accessable
With Finder I can access the other computer from both machines without any problem.
Any help to solve this would be very much appreciated

first of all, if you are behind a router firewall, and have your network secured (WPA2 and a long, non-dictionary password made up of letters and numbers), you don't need the software firewall on your Mac(s).
@ least turned if off for troubleshooting purposes.
turn home sharing off on both computers, and make sure
    (a) both Macs have access to the internet
    (b) iTunes on both machines is authorized for the same iTunes account.
turn home sharing back on on both Macs.
    does it work ?

  • Home sharing does not work with apple tv

Can anyone help me.  I used to be able to stream all content from my home master computer to my Apply TV.  Now it suddenly does not work.
Apple TV itself works just fine.  I can also airplay using it with out IPADs.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes.  Reset the modem/router.  Reset Appletv.  Tried with Norton disabled.  etc.
    Nothing seems to work.
I keep getting the 'Turn on your home sharing in Itunes' message.   But it is on.
    Help is appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Sometimes just disabling Norton isn't enough, you may need to hunt down every last file it has written to your computer then re-install iTunes. I understand Norton can be quite a nasty little intrusion.
I know very little about PC's or security software as I have neither, but the following article might help you.

  • Home sharing does not work with new mountain lion update.

home sharing does not work with new mountain lion update. Does anyone else have the same issue. Updated all computers in my home, deauthorized and reauthorized each computer. turn off home sharing and turned it back on. don't know what else to do..please help...

Our Apple TVs continue to lose connection ever since installing Mountain Lion on the host computer. The only thing that fixes them is to quit and relaunch iTunes, which only works unti the ATV goes to sleep. If a movie is paused for more than a few minutes and the ATV goes to sleep, pressing play again on the remote is greeted with "There are no movies on this computer" or "Turn on Home Sharing."
If we stop a video on one ATV and attempt to resume it in another room, the error begins again. The other ATV can't connect until iTunes is relaunched.
My guess is that it has something to do with the new [annoying] security settings. But I still haven't found a fix other than restarting iTunes everytime we want to watch something from our downloads. Fail.

  • Home Sharing does not work. It's time for Apple to act.

My specific question: Does anyone from Apple read these discussions *and* use the information to fix iTunes?
My issue (and I've given up on this): Home Sharing does not work and it needs to be fixed. I use a Windows 7 based PC and can successfully access my iTunes library from my iPad, meaning all network requirements are met. However many artists and albums do not appear. I know this is not about the tagging/data for the albums.
I found recommendations in these forums regarding the iTunes database (.itl), that this is a sign that the database is corrupted, and how to re-create it from the xml version. I used this technique and it did fix the problem - all albums and artists appeared. But within a day or so, they disappear again, meaning the .itl file is corrupted again and has to be re-created again. Also - if the .itl file is corrupted, then why does everything appear fine in iTunes? Somewhere, somehow the data are good enough to make iTunes work properly.
Bottom line: If you can't get the basics right, then Home Sharing does not work. Some very helpful forum commenters said it could have something to do with the anti-virus software, but that is just passing the buck.  I should not have to know how to do all this. I should be able to turn on Home Sharing and enjoy the music from my iPads, iPhone, etc. Imagine you have to know how fuel injection works and be able to fix it every two days just to use your car - you should be able to turn the key and drive.
There are more problems - I won't even get into how the album won't display properly on the iPad and other annoyances.
Apple? Are you listening? Home Sharing does not work. It is the opposite of the image projected of easy-to-use, people-friendly products.
I suggest you either make it work or turn off the feature.
    Joe

If your database is constantly becoming corrupt, you have a problem on your computer, it is nothing to do with homesharing. The corrupt database does not affect iTunes because that uses another file. It's not passing the buck, by considering whether anti-virus software might be causing this, this is the sort of stuff anti-virus software does (although I'm not saying that's what it is in your case-I don't know at this stage), you can't hold Apple accountable for badly written software that you have put on your computer yourself.
If you can't correctly identify what is causing your problem, you are never going to fix it.
