Only half my screens work - nouveau

Hey all
I am running arch with 6 screens (3 graphics cards). I have had my X working for ages but when I upgraded recently I now boot up/login and only have 3 of my screens working (one from each graphics card).
General Background:
I keep my /etc/ under git so I know my xorg.conf is correct (unchanged).
out of the 3 monitors that arnt working at the moment, two are blank/boot logs and one is reporting no input.
The monitors that are correctly functioning are at their correct resolutions.
I have listed below the information that I think is important, please let me know if you need any more info I am happy to provide any details required.
Versions of things:

On a possible related (or possible not) I get kernel panics about 30-50% of boots (null pointer dereference and the dump mentions both drm and nouveau. So if someone could please let me know how i can log the stack trace that would be great.

So you have two GeForce 210, and one GeForce GTX 560 Ti. Then shouldn't you be using Nvidia proprietary drivers? Because dual head support for "NVC0" is set to "mostly":
http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/FeatureMatrix
Is the GTX 560 Ti the card that doesn't output anything?
Either that, or check pacman's log file (/var/log/pacman.log) for whatever was updated and try downgrading it. It's probably either nouveau or xorg-server.

    No Applecare.

Take the machine to your local Apple Store or AASP they can quote you how much it will cost to repair.

  • Only half the screen updated in Camera Raw.

My system stopped updating half of the screen for camera raw. If i make a change in Camera raw, it only updates half the picture. I have to drag the window onto my second screen and back to see the entire image updated.
This did not occur from the beginning.
I am using an EVGA GeForce 8600GT 512 MB Video Card. The system is a quad core with 4 GB of ram running Windows XP.
One monitor is a 30" LP3065 (this is the one which is not updating).
    The other is a 20.1" dell 2001FP
Anyone know what would cause this to occur. It has greatly slowed down my work flow.
    Thanks

Also, can you swap the video cables connecting the monitors in order to rule out a defective cable or connection on one of the outputs of the graphics card?

  • Only half the keyboard works after sleep

I have a fall 2011 Air running Lion. It has a weird problem: sometimes (maybe 1 out of 10), after waking up from sleeping (closing the case - I haven't tried manually putting it to sleep - only the left hand portion of the keyboard works. At the login screen, all the left hand keystrokes generate their little password dots, and all the right hand keystrokes do nothing. I wondered whether there was some sort of genetic remnant from earlier macs with Num Lock keys or toggles between numbers and letters with the fn key. That's wrong, apparently, as I've tried using shift, option, fn command and a bunch of combinations to no avail. The only thing I've been able to do to recover is power it down ugly and then when I restart, things are normal again.
Remember, this happens at the login screen, so I have no menus to work with.
Anyone seen this and found a solution??? Thanks

    Hi Alex H.
Thanks so much for the advice.  I was near an Apple store yesterday so I stopped in and one of the employees shut down the Music app completely and this resolved the issue.  I could have sworn that I had tried that before, but it's possible I hadn't.
    Thanks again,
    Tom

  • Only Half a Screen

    Hello
This query relates to may Niece's New White Macbook. It is less than six months old, and has Snow Leopard 10.6.3 installed.
The display is behaving very strangely. Imagine the screen split right down the middle. The left hand side of the screen is black. The right hand side is the left hand side of a normal display. It is as if the black part of the screen has shoved the display to the right. Further what display you can see looks as if it is in high visibility mode where all the colours are inverted.
This poor shot might help http://cl.ly/FRd
Any thoughts. The machine was bought in Denmark, although we live in the UK, will Apple Care still be valid.
    Many thanks

If it is a problem with hardware, then you are probably covered. But let's try a couple things first.
Go to System Preferences>Universal Access> Under the Seeing Tab, turn off Zoom and under Display, make sure Black on White is selected.
    Did that make any difference?

  • When I open photo in photoshop the x y coordinates are wrong and the photo opens on only half my screen

The size you see in the finder is the compressed size. When you open it in Photoshop, you are seeing the expanded size.

  • Half of screen not working

Opened the laptop today and the left side of the screen is as normal, there is a thick black line in the centre and the right side of the screen is white. No dots, no coloured lines, no damage has occurred. I am unable to shut down and restart laptop due to this. Bought the laptop from Argos at the end of April. Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

Is it possibal to get a virus on the iPhone or touch from a opened email or transfured from a mac with that has not gotten a new leopard update in 'bout a mounth or so. I also have a problem with email that started few days before the screen stopped working saying that it cannot connect to Ian's Mac Mail because the username or password is incorrect when I go to verizon.com to check the name and password they work my father never has time to update his iphone so I have to do it for him and a lot of my content that is not on his laptop gets transfured and he has been having the same problem now for some time and my mac has showen that message box when I check my mail on my mac which is rarly. Or could it be that I am running out of RAM or just plain memery last I check today I had a little more then 1GB of space left. I also wonder that if it is repaired that the whole touch screen needs to be replaced and might be coastly and why would only half of it work most of the time I think that ether the connection between the touch sencers and the motherboard is unstable or that a softwere error has accored and needs to be ether restored from the settings in the phone or restored as new and not from a backup??
    Thanks
    ~Ian

  • Vuescan Preview Showing Only Half Screen On 2012 Mac Mini

    Hi there,
I have a 2012 i7 2.3Ghz quadcore Mac Mini fitted with an Areca Thunderbolt 12TB RAID and running 10.8.2, and using the latest version of Vuescan, am getting only half the screen when going onto Preview from our Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro scanner, which is connected via a Firewire 800 to 400 cable.
One would think it is a problem of the software or OS but no......when running it on a mid-2010 2.4Ghz i5 Macbook Pro on SL 10.6.8 and on another 2011 Mac Mini we have (also running 10.8.2), the Vuescan runs perfectly and previews normally. So I am wondering.......what is the cause of the problem? Could it be to do with the Firewire port, interference from the Thunderbolt port, or simply that we have a defective motherboard? Would appreciate any help or suggestions, thanks.

    HI AngusParker,
Just wanted to say thanks.....your tip definitely helped me solve this problem!
It was indeed the screen calibration that was the main issue...once that was done the screen went back to normal.
    cheers!

  • Half a screen

After update IOS8 the Line app in my Ipad has only half a screen and it is dysfunction. How do I fix it?

    Hi,
We are talking about an app, yes?
If that's the case, the app developer must not have updated his or her app in time for iOS 8's release. Do not worry, most developers are hard at work to ensure that all apps work with Apple's newest operating systems.
To find out more information, contact the specific app developer as they should know when their update will be released.

  • 5th generation....half black screen

Help! On vacation and used after market charger...unplugged my ipod and now the only half the screen comes up and it's black...any help would be appreciated!

    Have you been through these?
    The Five Rs.
If nothing helps, you can arrange online service here (and it sounds as if it may need it).
    Service request.
Or you could take it into an Apple store and have them take a look at your iPod.

  • When i press the on/off my ipod show me the lock screen only half second and goes black.

When i press the on/off my ipod show me the lock screen only half second and goes black.
I try again and works normally. Sometimes do that.
    What Happens?

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will belost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Bottom half of screen not working, need to turn airplane mode on

3gs Bottom half of screen no longers works, or at least the bar at the bottom so cant unlock the phone .. i suspect that part of the screen doesnt work anymore, tried reset etc. i can play etc via voice control but i need to catch a 7hr flight later today .. any suggestions on how i could unlock, so i can get to the settings .. doesnt seem to be a voice control to unlock ... doesnt seem to be any control in itunes to amend setting .. must be something i can do!

Your digitizer is not functioning correctly. This is the only way I know to slide the unlock bar. The digitizer is built as part of the Glass Front Screen and detects your finger movement. Take iPhone to Apple and they can try to Reseat Flex Cable # 2 the digitizer cable if it is just loose at the connector and not broken. Possibly repair under Warranty if you still have Warranty Coverage. Otherwise you will need a new Front Screen with Digitizer for 3GS. Before opening a 3GS make sure it is OFF, and keep it OFF during any repair.
