Open a file from an Air app

Hello,
I want to open (with another application Android) a file from an Air application
navigateToURL( new URLRequest(myFile.url) );
the problem is that Android give me only Adobe Reader to open "myFile"
how Android proposes to all applications succeptibles to open "myFile" ?
openWithDefaultApplication() doesn't work on Android.
thanks

  • Can't open browser window from RoboHelp AIR app??!

    We've got a RoboHelp course that we're exporting as an AIR app using the  Packager and it works great. We've got an embedded flash file that  needs to open a website in a browser window, but, currently it will only  load the site in a new AIR window...any ideas??

    I'm having this same problem also, although you gave me one option in your reply.  I can't get the "Allow" button to work either. I upgraded to Adobe Reader 9.2, and then is when I noticed I couldn't bring up the websites that I usually could before.  I don't really know what you mean about "Stand Alone Option," but I will try to find out.  I also upgraded to Internet Explorer 8, but I'm not sure if this is when the problem started or when I went to Adobe Reader 9.2.
    I used to be able to get "Allow" to work if I opened the document in IE8 and not in AR 9.2, but now that won't even work. I did email the author of a PDF document I was in today in the hopes he would have the answer, but I'm not sure if I got his email address right, so time will tell on that issue.
    I have a "library" of PDF documents, so I would really like to get this problem fixed.  However, I've spent at least two hours on this issue, and I really don't think it has anything to do with Windows Vista incompatibility; I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Adobe Reader, but that doesn't help much given I have emailed support and, of course, have never received an answer.
    I do know there are a lot of people that are having this exact same problem, but no one has an answer to it.  I've tried to do research on this, but I have a lot of "to do" tasks I need to get done every day, so it's not like I have all the time in the world to try and fix this problem.
    I would appreciate hearing from you if you do ever figure this out. My email address is [email address deleted by host] should you find an answer to this very frustrating problem. Warmly, Corinne Larimore [signature deleted by host]

  • What is the best and easiest way to upload a big file from an AIR app to a server?

    hello everyone
    i am a self-teach-as-i-go kind on person, and this is my first encounter with uploading to a server, websites and all
    i have written an AIR app in which the user chooses pictures from his/her computer and fills out numerous forms. at the end i want to upload all this data to my server
    currently, all the data folder gets compressed to a single zip file (using noChump zip library). i did this for simplicity reasons (uploading only a single file) - the size is the same. this files can get up to 200mb in size
    as a server, i have one domain I have bought and currently only a small space (1G - basic). I control it using Parallels® Plesk panel (default from the company i bought the domain and space from)
    I have no knowledge other then as3 (thanks, OReilly!), so i thought of something that doesn't require server side scripting.
    after messing around a bit i found the code at this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2285645/flex-crossdomain-xml-file-and-ftp
    (thank you Joshua). please look at that code, basically, it uploads through a socket
    I fixed it up a bit and was able to upload a 64mb zip file to my httpdocs folder in my domain. this included hard coding my username and password
    looking at my site managing panel i see the file created and expanding in size, end at the end i even dowloaded the zip and decompressed it - all well.
    my questions are:
    the upload continued even when i exit my air app! how does this work?
    i cant get progress events to fire (this relates to question 1).
    this domain also holds my web page. is httpdocs the correct folder to put in user data? how do i give each user their own username and password?
    is this the right way to go anyway? remember file sizes could reach 200mb and also, secure transferring is not a must
    hope you guys can make sense in the mess
    cheers
    Saar

  • Opening a file from a java app (not applet)

    My program can't find the text file I'm trying to open in my stand-alone java app. I am specifying it like this:
    File filename = new File("myfile.txt");
    FileReader = new FileReader(filename);
    It is in the same directly as the class files. It won't find it when it's in a jar file either. I had a similar problem with an applet a lont time ago, but that turned out to be a security issue, which I assume normal apps don't have.
    So, what's up with this?

    If system become larger, there are duplicated files
    can be found in different directories.
    Using classpath may cause problem, if there are
    duplicated file name.
    If you are coding, you should know exact location of
    the file to be opened.
    "system become larger" - huh? You control the classpath on a per-app basis, not one huge monolithic classpath containing all jars/folders for all apps.
    It's common, well-designed practice to use the classpath. It's bad practice to hard-code directory names and expect all deployments of the app to follow the same directory naming convention. I wouldn't want you to dictate to me where to put the file on my hard drive. I should be able to install it anywhere I want, and let it find it (via the classpath, in this instance).

  • Is there a way to open the settings app from an air app on both iOS and android?

    Since you can't change the notifications settings within the app, is there a way to simply open the settings app from an air app? like a link or something like that?

    Even on iOS this has only recently been added by Apple for iOS 8 only using the line:
    [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:UIApplicationOpenSettingsURLString]];
    So you would have to wrap this in an ANE and then again, only for iOS and only call it in iOS 8+

  • Downloaded adobe photoshop elements 10 editor from Mac app store onto my mac book pro, set i photo preferences to APE 10 Editor, but can not open any files from my library, error saying " program error". What else do I need to do?

    Have downloaded Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor from the Mac App Store onto my Mac Book Pro, set i photo preferences to Adobe PSE 10 editor, but when I try to open a file from my photo library, the following message appears: "could not complete your request because of a program error". Hi..
    Post your topic in the iPhoto community here. That way you can get feedback from iPhoto users.

    I have a problem with opening downloaded files from the internet; zip types. Can you tell me an app to open these types of formats of files?

    It should unzip if you double-cick.
    What are you seeing happen when you do that?
    Select a .zip file in the Finder and Get Info (cmd-i). What is set for it to Open With. It should be Archive Utility.

  • Cant open doc files from the server on MacBook Air after upgrading to Maverick

    Cant open doc files from the server on MacBook Air after upgrading to Maverick, I can only open up docx file. Thank you!

    Thanks for the suggestion! I don't use Phantasm or VectorScribe (or any Astute Graphics plugins for that matter). I do, however, have a Wacom tablet and have a few plugins that concern using Blurb Book Creator as well as LiveSurface Context.
    I did the very unfortunate and foolish act of upgrading to Maverick without a backup, so postponing isn't an option for me.
    I geuss my question at this point would be, would it be worthwhile to wipe all the adobe products from my harddrive and re-install them? Or would that be a useless endeavor.
    I don't have an external hard-drive so backing up and re-installing the entire OS would be a bit much. Any suggestions?

    The iPad and iPhone have NEVER supported Flash and never will. In fact, Adobe is no longer distributing Flash builds to mobile devices.

  • Open documents/files from Application Server in forms 6i

    Hello All,
    Our requirement is to open files that are in Application server( We do not want to upload them into database).
    Is there a way to open this files from forms 6i.
    I am wondering how the "View Output" or View log button works on the concurrent program submission form. Its the doing the same thing i.e pulling the file from Application server and showing up.
    Please let me know if anyone has any ideas on how to get this done.
    Thanks
    Sunil

    I assume you are using Forms 6i in web mode here. Then it is just a URL to the file if you properly map to a directory where you store the files:
    web.show_document('http://...../myfile.pdf');
    But it also looks like you are using Oracle Apps, so might want to ask it in the e-Business Suite.

  • Can photoshop CC open raw files from Lightroom 5?

    Trying to open raw files from Lightroom 5 in Photoshop CC 2014, with no luck.
    Anyone?

    Problems are as follows— all versions are current.
    1. When in Lightroom, trying to open a photo in Photoshop,-- choosing Photo>Edit in Photoshop CC 2014— Photoshop opens but no photo appears. The only time a photo opens is if it is a JPEG… CR2 does not open, dng does not open
    2. When trying to open a JPEG in Photoshop, dialog box opens offering choice between "Edit Original", "Edit a copy", or "Edit with Lightroom adjustments", Only choosing “Edit Original” allows photo to open.
    3. When in Photoshop choosing “Browse in Bridge” does not open Bridge… opens CC app and prompts me to install another version of Bridge, or keep version I have.  (See attached screenshot) Either way it’s a malfunction… as I said earlier all versions are leanest.
    PLEASE HELP!!

  • FM11 crashes when I try to open a file from a book

    Hi,
    I have been using framemaker 11 all these days. From yesterday , I have a strange issue. FrameMaker 11 crashes every time I open a file from a book.
    I have attached the screenshot of the error I get.
    Can anyone help  me as to what could be the issue.

    I have the same problem periodically. Have you looked at the file referenced?
    My header infor reads:
    === Header Begin ===
    Internal Error: 11004, 21860591, 20722943, 20723475
    FrameMaker 11.0.0 for Intel
    Build: 11.0.0.380
    Window System: MSWindows
    Operating System: Windows NT 6.1 (major.minor.build: 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1)
    Generated on: Wednesday, January 15, 2014 4:09:20 PM
    To file: C:\Users\joe\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\11\FrameLog_14.01.15_16.09.20_2.txt
    === Header End ===
    I'm not sure what's up with the Operating System line in this file. I have Win 7 SP 1.
    I wonder if you have the same Internal Error, Frame and Build Number? Have you updated your Adobe Apps recenty to the latest and greatest? I have not. Our IT team locks us out from updating. If you have the same build, try updating Frame.
    I seem to get the error more often when I work files on networked drives. I experience it less when I work locally on the local hard drive.
    Hope this helps.

  • Opening a document from a Java app

    I need to open a document from my Java app. It is a .rtf file and I would like it to open with the system associated application for rtf files. How should I do that?
    I have tried to figure out the Runtime.exec(), but it doesn't do what I need. I have been able to open Notepad or WordPad (oh, yes, I am on a Win XT system) by specifying them in the exec function, but I can't find info on how to let the system choose the program.
    Thanks for your help.
