Open and converting raw in ps 7

how can i open and convert raw nef images from my 35mm nikon into pdf using ps 7?  Raw is listed under OPEN as a category but i cannot make it happen.

You need to first open the NEF file in Photoshop, and if you are really talking about the very old version 7, there is every chance that will be a problem.  I don't even know if Version 7 supported Camera RAW, but I think it did.  So I am having to guess because of the age of the version you are using, but you will probably need to download the free DNG converter.

I just purchased the new Canon SX60 camera. Despite downloading and installing the latest version of Adobe DNG converter, I receive an error message saying that Photoshop CS4 can't open up/convert raw files (.CR2). This is the same file format as used by the SX50, with which I never had any problem. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras  I do not see that SX60 as supported. Just how new is the SX60 when was it announces. Its support is not even listed in ACR 8.7 RC

You can get A converter that will convert between PDF, EPS, and PS
file formats. It works on a Windows, Mac, or LINUX/UNIX box, and is
called AFPL Ghostscript. You can dowload it for free at
    http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/
The site also has a large amount of documentation on using it,(as well
    as a free viewer) b

  • How to open and view RAW photo's in Elements?

How do I open RAW pictures from an Olympus PEN E-PL1 in Photoshop Elements 5.0?
Have owned Elements 5.0 for several years, but just loaded it and now I'm trying to learn how to improve my underwater photo's by taking pics in RAW so they can be edited. Unfortunatly, Elements 5.0 doesn't recogonize the RAW pictures from my Olympus PEN E-PL1.
Do I simply update something in it? Or is it an app I need to download and add into it? Or is there another way to convert them to DNG file so they will be recognized?
If this has been covered already, then please point me in the right direction.
    Thanks,
    tripntx

    tripntx:
The Olympus E-PL1 wasn't supported by Adobe Camera Raw until version 5.7. The latest version of Camera Raw that you can use with Elements 5 is version 4.6.
This means that you can't natively open the raw files from your Olympus in Elements 5.
You can, however, convert the raw images to DNGs, and then open the resulting DNGs in Elements 5. (You can even embed the original raw file in the DNG for archival/preservation purposes, to take up less storage space and make it easier to organize/manage your files.) You can download the DNG Converter application here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4803
(DNG Converter is a pretty straight forward application, but the ReadMe PDF contains instructions for its use if you need it.)
Alternatively, you could upgrade to Elements 8 or 9, and the photos from your camera would be natively supported. (Note that you'd need to update the Camera Raw plug-in in Elements 8 before you could open your photos; this download is available here in case you need it.)

  • Does Web Module size and convert RAW images to jpeg?

I have never used the Web module before. It looks pretty straightforward but I have one question:
What about images? Does Lightroom take the original RAW images from the library that I've chosen to go into the web site and 'pare the down' or re-size them to be appropriate size for the web site and I assume it would also convert them to jpegs in sizes needed for preview and for thumbnails?
I assume that when you start the 'machinery' for Lightroom to build the web site that it will put all of the images needed as copies from the originals into a proper folder that can be then uploaded to the web?
    Thanks,
    Ken
PS: if I choose a flash template, which are pretty nice, does it also include the flash module so that people can run the flash presentation on their computers?

It will convert all images to jpegs, resize ... however you set it up ... and yes, it is so straightforward as it seems to be .
It makes no sense to upload RAW files to the web for public use in the first place. Second, LR does not touch/change the RAW files. Therefore, how would it be able to integrate your dev settings when using RAW on export?
You can add the ftp target in LR and it will upload directly to your web server.
If you choose Flash-based, people need to have the Adobe Flash player installed on their computer. The Flash player itself is not part of the LR setup. Most of people already have it installed and who doesnt will be asked to install it.

  • How to open Nikon D800E Raw files in PSE9? [was:Gad, what next?]

I'm not a beginner, but after installing and upgrading Photoshop Elements 9, I find it cannot recognize RAW files from Nikon D800E. Either don't load, or load just noise, no picture. Suggestions -- I hope?

Moved from Photoshop for Beginners forum to Photoshop Elements forum
The D800E was first supported in Camera Raw 6.7
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
which is only compatible with PSE10 or later
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
You can either upgrade to PSE12 to open and read Raw files in PSE
or download the free DNG converter, convert all D800E Raw files to DNGs then open and edit the DNGs in PSE9

You've misunderstood the way Adobe Reader works. If you have a PDF file in your email, you can use Reader to view it. Reader doesn't convert your email into a PDF.

You need camera raw 8.4 for your camera, if it’s Digital Rebel T5 EOS 1200D EOS Kiss X70. It is not compatible with PSE11; so it’s a bit odd if that software was bundled with the camera except that it will work with jpegs. I suggest you download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will editable in PSE11(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.4

  • I can't open Sony NEX-5 raw files with PS-CS6 and latest raw converter plug-in 7.1.

When I try to open raw files from Sony NEX-5 instead of going to PhotoShop like all my NEF files, they go to another software suite that I have (On-One).  I am running MAC OS 10.7.5 with latest PS-CS6 and latest raw converter plug-in 7.1.  On-One seems to hi-jack these Sony raw files and won't give me the opportunity for the adjustments that I get with the Adobe Raw File converter.  Any help??

  • What is the difference in PS E12 between 'File Open' and 'File Open in Camera Raw' ?

Both routes launch a screen saying Camera Raw 8.3 - Canon EOS 5D Mark III?
Likewise on this screen there is 'Cancel' and 'Done' Buttons', what is the difference both close that screen.
I am assuming the 'Done' Buttons saves any manipulation of exposure or colours you may have made? and the 'Cancel' just forgets them?
Is there a manual for this product; that one can reference, screen by screen? explaining what each option actually does.

    Chucky-Tiger wrote:

If you are opening a raw file (.CR2), both routes are identical, because you have to convert raw files in ACR anyway.
If you are opening a jpeg file, you can open the file directly in the Elements Editor (Open),
    or
you can open it the the ACR module. The dialog is the same (or nearly) as for raw files, with the same sliders and features, including some you don't find in the editor : clarity, advanced denoising...
There are advantages in opening jpegs in ACR, especially because ACR works internally in 16 bits and in a wider color gamut. Very important for me is the fact that the ACR modules saves its edits as 'recipees' in the metadata section of the jpeg files, without changing any pixel value of the original.

Cancel does cancel every edit you have started. You are back to the original file.
'Done' saves your edits, as you rightly assume.
'Open' saves the edits and send them to the editor for further editing if you want, for local retouch or using layers for instance.
'Alt Open' does not saves the edits, but sends the edited result to the editor.
'Save' is only used if you wish to convert the raw files to the DNG format.

  • I upgraded my camera and opening a camera raw file no longer works

I went from a Nikon D3000 to a Nikon D5200.  I have an old version of Elements (version 8) and I no longer can open a camera raw file.  I tried finding an answer in the support area but am not sure I found what I needed to know.  Since my camera is new and didn't exist at the time I purchased Elements does that mean that my old version doesn't support my camera?

You need to buy PSE12 or Lightroom 5.

I just bought the Nikon D750 and my raw files will not open in CC Photoshop. Is anyone else that has this camera experienced this problem?
My Photoshop says it is up to date, but I am hoping that since this camera just came out, Adobe will have an raw file update soon.

DNG Converter is FREE.  Yes, really.  No subscription needed.
    - Baloney, NOT FREE, it's a proprietary software, not open AT ALL, see Legal Notices, so stop trying to distort the truth here.
Camera Raw (& DNG Converter) 8.7RC has been available since 2nd October, and opens D750 files in Photoshop & Bridge (& Lightroom using DNG Converter).
Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 8.7 Release Candidate | digital camera raw file support - Adobe Labs
    - Still a cumbersome process for this of us that PAID for software and support, the whole point of this discussion is to implement this directly on LR, so we, the PAYING users don't have to waste time doing a useless process that could be EASILY AVOIDED ig Adobe released updates as they are needed, or if they OPENED THE SOURCE CODE so the community could do it.
Adobe created DNG, which is a well-documented backwards-compatible format, which is free for any manufacturer to use.
See here for manufacturers who do (it's an old list, but you get the idea):
    http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/articles/dng/products_cameras.htm
    - Really? Did you actually read the site? It has PRECIOUS information that illustrate my point: Adobe DNG is an attempt to stop the OpenSource community from achieving the goals of OpenRaw, which is TRUE OPENNESS, Again, Adobe is trying to get manufacturers to PAY LICENSING so they use a PROPRIETARY FORMAT that will HOLD CUSTOMERS on a PAID platform. OpenRaw is he answer for a true competitive environment.
Ask yourself why other manufacturers don't use a documented backwards-compatible format.
    - Easy, because they are lazy and want kick-back. The SAME answer that I (and the entire OS community) would give if you asked about Acrobat or MS Office.
If you use a particular piece of software as your main tool, and you buy a camera which isn't yet supported by it, it's your problem. There is an expression used in the industry:
"Poor Planning on your part does not constitute an Emergency on my part."
    - I agree here, it's MY PROBLEM that I decided to have a better product, it was my choice. I can still use OS Tools, which will be what I do moving forward, and about that expression, that is EXACTLY why Adobe will keep loosing customers, because the sense of urgency to help who pays their bills is inexistent. You are correct, why should they rush something so simple to help a customer right? Screw the customer... Thanks for making my point...

i'm using a Nikon D610 now and Photoshop Elements 10 won't open files in camera raw. How can I fix the issue? The version of camera raw is 6.7.0339

    Hi,
The D610 requires camera raw 8.3 which is not compatible with your PSE 10.
You need to upgrade to PSE 12 (or later) or use the free Adobe DNG converter. The converter will take a flder containg your NEF files and converte them to DNG files. The DNG files can then be used by PSE 10.
