Open Dialog on item click javascript

Hi
I have survey page that send in data to a sharepoint list. In the list i want to be abel to click on "No Title" to open that item in a dialog how can i do that with javascript i tried a couple of tutorials i found but nothing worked.

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to open Dialog on item click using javascript.
You can use the SharePoint Dialog Framework to create your own dialog.
function openDialog( pUrl ) {
SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog(
url: pUrl,
width: 500,
height: 500,
title: "My Dialog"
To open dislog when you click title, you can refer to:

  • Single click in file open dialogs in KDE4.1

    Hi,
    In my KDE 4.1, there's something that doesn't seem right:
    If in system settings, mouse&keyboard, I set the option "Double-click to open files and folders", then it doesn't actually  listen to that setting.
    In a file open dialog, it opens a file already with a single click. This makes it very hard to select multiple files in the dialog (e.g. when opening files with kate), because if you press CTRL and click on the file, instead of just making a selection of it, it opens that 1 file and closes the file open dialog.
    Is this really the intention? How can I select multiple files that are not all below each other?
    Is it the intention that it doesn't listen to the double click setting? And is it the intention that the behaviour is inconsistent with any other desktop environment? I mean, they didn't just change something universally accepted, right?

    I mean if I just use the below script, it works.
    getURL("javascript:loadintoIframe('myframe',
    'v_vista_b5.html')");
    but if I want to control 2 iframes in one clicking, it
    doesn't work(it basically load only the second statment, and skips
    the first). I'd like to know is it possible to combine below 2
    javascript into one?
    getURL("javascript:loadintoIframe('myframe',
    'v_vista_b5.html')");
    getURL("javascript:loadintoIframe('topframe',
    'top_v_vista_b5.html')");
    thanks again.

  • Open Dialog double-clicking problems.

    Here's a head-scratcher...
    Recently in almost any Open Dialog box, when I double-click a folder on my server it will turn the arrow down and list the contents rather than opening that directory. Then when I save, it doesn't save it in the intended directory. Strange. I can't seem to figure out why.
    The real strange part is that it happens in all my non-Apple applications only (e.g. illustrator, bbedit, Word), but Apple apps behave normally (e.g. Preview, Safari). Also, it ONLY occurs when I try to access folders on my server (Linux using Clark Connect) where my HD and external HD behave perfectly fine.
    The other strange thing is I've tried this on another mac on the network and my PowerBook, but, surprise, it all works fine on those machines -- so it's just my G5. I tried trashing finder pref but no joy.
    I can work around this by doing a lot of command-downarrow's in those dialog boxes, but I'd prefer to have it the way it was
    Can anyone shed some light on this strange phenomenon? I can't find any threads anywhere that has this same problem. Thanks in advance.
    G5 Tower Dual 2.5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Huh.
    I've recently started having the same mysterious annoyance. Except the afflicted folders are on an external (firewire) drive, not a server...
    Similarly, it's not occurring with Apple apps, as far as I know.
    What's perhaps oddest of all, some folders on this volume are functioning normally, while others aren't.
    I had been using Default Folder X, but this happens even when that's disabled, erased, freshly installed, etc. In certain apps, clicking on the current folder name in the open/save dialog initiates a crash (seems related to the interface itself).
    I've repaired the disk, permissions, trashed all related preferences, etc. Everything checked out okay.
    One final clue, perhaps related or not: I've been finding duplicated folder names nested in the 'Volumes' path subordinate to my primary disk. These are probably supposed to be hidden. But I haven't deleted or otherwise tinkered with them. They do not contain the identical items of the 'real' volume (much fewer folders, documents, etc.) but there they are, acting somewhat like imposters.
    Like ookla says, a head-scratcher. I'm gonna upgrade to latest flava of OS and see if it helps; I'll let y'all know.
    Good luck!

  • Diable "open dialog box" on right mouse click so I can use l mouse to advance to next slide and r mouse click to "go back."  How in PP 2010 for mac????

    I do presentations in PP10.  I am new to macair, and used to Windows.  HOW DO I DISABLE THE "OPEN DIALOG BOX ON RIGHT CLICK"?  I would like to use L mouse to advance slide, and R mouse to go back.  The default is to use R mouse to open dialog box.  I can disable this by unchecking the box in "advanced" on the PC.  How do I do it with the Mac????
    Thanks

    Hi Rod,
    As originally stated in my opening post, the SWF is to be inserted into an Articulate '13 slide (what I called an aggregator originally - I tried not to bring them up since I don't want the chatter about "There's your problem - using Articulate"! ).
    Recall that posting this published file to our LMS did not allow right-mouse click functionality as the flash player menu just gets in the way.
    If I insert the captivate 6 files into Articulate as a Web Object (referencing the entire folder with html, htm and assets, and then posted to our LMS, and it DOES allow RM click operations in both IE and FF (although no sound on the Captivate slide in FF). But this is not what we want to do as this introduces 2 navigation controls (the Captivate one and the Articulate Player).
    Why must anything be posted to a web server for this functionality to work?
    I am able to go into the Captivate 6's published folder, and launch the Captivate demonstration by simply double clicking on the index.html file and this works great in both FF and IE after changing the security settings for flash.
    Again - I can not believe I am the only one out there trying to use the right-mouse click feature to do a software simulation by embedding the Captivate SWF into an Articulate '13 project.

  • Every time I click a TXT or PDF file it opens the file and STILL opens the "Open" dialog box

    I have several TXT files I have that track some info for me.  Used to be, like in any OS, I could just double click it and viola, there it is in the text editor.  Ever since Mountain Lion, I open it and it opens fine, then on TOP of that I get ANOTHER open dialog box from text edit with the finder window to let me pick a text file to open.
    I ALREADY opened the file I want so i certainly don't need another unasked for dialog box to open every time.  Same thing with PDF's.  Apparently just about everything that opens with preview or text edit does this.
    I must be missing something since this clearly shouldn't be default behavior.  Anyone have something somewhere I've missed that will stop text edit or preview from prompting me for a file location to open when I've already opened the file I wanted in the first place?
    Thanks for any insight.
    John

    Anyone else hitting it, I finally tracked it to icloud.  Even though I was not using it for anything other than my IOS device backups, somehow it got flagged for "documents" as well.  Killed that and finally preview works as it should without bringing up unwanted open dialog boxes every time I open something.

    3. attach a managed bean variable (return true/false)
    4. in the commandLink method set the variable true/false depending on requirement
    or

  • Double-click no longer opens the open dialog in CS5

    I am testing the trial of CS5 and I noticed that I can no longer double-click the photoshop desktop to pop open the open dialog.  Did they get rid of this?  I looked through the preferences and I didn't see any option to turn it on.

    Yes, I suppose that is it, it doesn't let you double-click nor drag on files to open them underneath the toolbar.  The new layout of Photoshop usually has the images that I am editing maximized and covering the photoshop desktop, so I have no way of just double-clicking or dragging files on, except I did find that you can drag the files onto a blank spot at the top of the tabs to open.  However, even if that is full it is hard to find a spot, I find myself just getting used to now opening files the Ctrl+O way.

  • File Open Dialog Box  on Button Click

    Hi
    I am devloping some webpages using JSF and RichFaces..
    I would like to appear File open Dialog box to choose single file and multiple files and another Folder chooser dialog box to choose the folder content..
    Both the operation should be performed while choosing the Button Choose File and Choose Folder...
    I have already tried Input type = file and aphace tomohawk..
    But i all the components are coming with text box and browse button..
    I dont need that. I need to open the dialog box once i clilck my choose file r folder button and it should work browser indepent.....

    HTML doesn't provide you the possibility to select multiple files or select folders at a single browse. Thus JSF can't do any much for you. Best what you can do is to write a signed applet or web start application which does the task. The Mojarra Scales component library has a ready-to-use component which embeds an applet which does that task. Check [https://scales.dev.java.net/multiFileUpload.html].

  • Jquery Modal Dialog - passing item values

    Hi Everyone,
    I know...there are a lot of information about how to implement modal dialog form.....but I cannot find an answer on how to deal with my situation.
    What I am trying to achieve is to create a form in apex page, assign items to this form , add Jquery script to the page header where I am going to call this form into modal dialog ..... fill out items in modal dialog and when click on "Create" - insert value of the items into my table.
    Yes, this is common thing to do (like here http://shijesh.wordpress.com/2010/04/10/jquery-modal-form-in-apex-4 )....but I am trying to find a way where I don't need to create function for my "Crete" button which will call OnDemand Process. Anyways, here is what and how I am trying to do this and please correct me where I am wrong.
    *1.* I do have a table called "inventory_modal", ID column has a PK and trigger/sequence is there too.
    *2.* Do have a page with Form Region with data entry based on my table and Static ID "myModalForm".
    *3.* Do have items assigned to my From Region :
    :P23_ID (hidden):P23_INVENTORY_DATE (data picker)
    :P23_ASSET_ID (number)
    :P23_CONDITION (text field)
    :P23_INVENTORY_OWNER (text field)
    :P23_STATUS (text field)
    :P23_LOCATION (text field)
    :P23_COMMENTS (text field)>
    *4.* Do have a button called "Open Modal" to open my form in dialog window with redirect to URL: javascript:openForm();*5.* Do have an On Submit - After Computations and Validations process
    insert into inventory_modal  (id, inventory_date, asset_id, condition, inventory_owner, status, location, comments)
                   values (:P23_ID, to_date(:P23_INVENTORY_DATE,'&APP_DATETIME_FORMAT.'), :P23_ASSET_ID, :P23_CONDITION,
                              :P23_INVENTORY_OWNER, :P23_STATUS, :P23_LOCATION, :P23_COMMENTS); the process is Conditional with Request = Expression1 , where Expresseion1 is set to "CREATE".
    *6.* And here is HTML Header Jquery script where I am calling "myModalForm" form to open in dialog window and by selecting "Create" button passing "CREATE" vallue back to page which should fire my process to insert data:
    <link rel="stylesheet" href = "http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/themes/
    redmond/jquery-ui.css" type="text/css" />
    <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.js"> </script>
    <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/jquery-ui.js"> </script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $( function() {
       $('#myModalForm').dialog(
            modal : true ,
            autoOpen : false ,
            buttons  : {
                Cancel : function() {$(this).dialog("close")},
                Create : function() {$(this).dialog("close");doSubmit('CREATE')}
    function openForm()
        $('#myModalForm').dialog('open');
    So, and here is my question. I don't want to use any OnDemand Process, I would like dialog window to pass values to my regular procedure in my page. I had an assumption that Create : function() {$(this).dialog("close");doSubmit('CREATE')} will do the trick but apparently it doesn't. Is there any way to do it?
    Here is my testing page : http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=39330:23
    If you click on Open Modal, it will open my form in modal dialog window, on create it will send "CREATE" request to my procedure which will insert data into table....but it unfortunately it will insert only NULLS into my table (only ID column will have data as it has trigger/sequence). So, click Create and then refresh the page.
    Thanks

    Hi Jari,
    Thanks for your surrestion.
    I am not exactly sure on how to set ajax item session, does this looks ok for whatever I want to do?
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $( function() {
       $('#myModalForm').dialog(
            modal : true ,
            autoOpen : false ,
            buttons  : {
                Cancel : function() {$(this).dialog("close")},
                Create : function() {
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_ID',html_GetElement('P23_ID').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_INVENTORY_DATE',html_GetElement('P23_INVENTORY_DATE').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_ASSET_ID',html_GetElement('P23_ASSET_ID').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_CONDITION',html_GetElement('P23_CONDITION').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_INVENTORY_OWNER ',html_GetElement('P23_INVENTORY_OWNER ').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_STATUS',html_GetElement('P23_STATUS').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_LOCATION',html_GetElement('P23_LOCATION').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_COMMENTS',html_GetElement('P23_COMMENTS').value);
                                              ajaxResult = ajaxRequest.get();
                                              $(this).dialog("close");
                                              doSubmit('CREATE');}
    function openForm()
        $('#myModalForm').dialog('open');
    </script>

  • Open dialog box prefs for geany and gnumeric

    I did a reinstall so that /usr/ would no longer have its own partition.   Rearranging the partitions was just going to take too long.
    I use geany and gnumeric.  File -> Open, in either program, brings up the open dialog box.  It is titled Select a file for gnumeric and Open File for geany.
    Since the reinstall, I have to click the pad and pencil icon in the top left every time to open up the line for manual entry of the location.
    I am sure it used to remember its state before the reinstall.  Does anyone know where that setting is saved or how to get that functionality back?  Thanks.

  • How do I open multiple history items and restore my last session from more than the last day

    I see I can open 1 history item ant a time how can I open more than 1 if my browser crashed or was force quitted. Also is there a way to open previous items from before I day if I lunch safari and don't open my recent items using history.

    From your Safari menu bar. Click History / Reopen all windows from last session.
    If Safari is quitting unexpectedly, try resetting Safari. From the menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
    If that doesn't help, If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
    Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.

    How can we do this ?

    Hi,
    Per my understanding, you might want to add a button on a page, when clicking it, the last form which is created by the current user will open.
    As it might require to query the last form created by current user, custom code would be required.
    A solution is that, you can query the URL of the last form created by the current user using JavaScript Client Object Model, generate a button with the URL retrieved
    using JavaScript. Then when user open this page, the button will be created dynamically, user clicks it, the last form created by this user will open.

  • Show File Open Dialog and get File

    Am creating a document where I want to prompt the user with the File Open dialog box and when a file is selected, I want to get that file and attach to the document. I know the scripting allows files to be attached but how do I display the dialog and then attach using the script.
    Will greatly appreciate the help.

    Hi Nilesh,
    You can use the getDataObject method of the Adobe document object. Below is a sample script that you can attach to the click event of a button to see how it works. For more information on importDataObject and getDataObject go to

  • IPhoto Library in open dialog boxes

    Does the Mac community agree with me that this needs to be better implemented in Mac OS X for new Mac users?
    As the owner of a Mac consulting company in Los Angeles, we have switched about 30 people from PC to Mac this year.
    However, we have encountered a big problem that almost every "newbie Mac user" has when they first switch to the Mac. This is the #1 problem that we encounter with most "newbie" Mac users:
    There is no way to access the iPhoto library from within a standard open dialog box!
    So, week after week, we're witnessing users who have used webmail for years, and aren't quite ready to make the leap to Apple Mail yet. So when they go to attach photos to an outgoing email in their webmail program (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo), they'll get an "open" dialog box but absolutely no way of browsing their iPhoto Library in an easy-to-use manner!
    Oh sure, they'll try to click around in their "Pictures" folder inside the "iPhoto Library" folder, but as you know, that folder makes no organizational sense to mere mortals, and is nowhere NEAR the Mac experience that it should be! Even with the improvements in iPhoto 6, that "iPhoto Library" folder still makes no sense.
    So eventually, we tell them that they have to (a) drag their photos from iPhoto onto their desktop or export them if they want them to be a smaller size, (b) attach the files on their desktop from within their open dialog box, and (c) trash the photos from their desktop afterwards.
    But this is too confusing for new Mac users, particularly when it's already much better integrated on Windows, the platform they just switched from!
    New users should be able to **VISUALLY BROWSE** their iPhoto Library right from within any open dialog box, just like you can currently browse your iPhoto Library when you click on the "Media" button inside Pages or Keynote or iWeb or Comic Life.
    Some companies like Snapfish.com have actually addressed this limitation on Apple's behalf, by creating plug-ins for Safari that actually let you browse your iphoto library right from your open dialog box! This is how it SHOULD BE! It's simple as pie, and Snapfish.com should be commended for making up for this serious lack of intuitiveness on Apple's part.
    But Apple really needs to step up to the plate and do this for its users, instead of depending on a few companies here & there to make up for this limitation.
    Of course, we try to get as many new users as possible to use Apple's Mail program for complete integration with their system, but it's just not feasible right off the bat in all cases. For example, if they're a Yahoo webmail user or a HotMail user, it would cost them at least $24.95/year just to get POP access to their email. And regardless of what webmail system they use, not everybody is going to want to switch right away to a dedicated email client.
    Apple really needs to help new users have a great time when switching to the Mac, instead of confusing them, by really thinking these things through and really WATCHING new users in the field struggling with their Macs for the first time. Then, Apple can see that there's little things like this that can make all the difference for someone new to the Mac.
    Thank you,

    I've not used any of these but you can certainly test them so see if they are as as advertised.
    If a user needs a file via the Finder for a web based email he can Command-click on a thumbnail and select the Show File Contextual menu item. The user will be taken to that folder in the Finder and the file will already be selected. However these will be the full sized files and may be larger than the user wants to send.
    The problem with encouraging users to visually browse and access files in the library folder via the Finder or some browser is that they may be inclined to rename, move or edit them via the Finder or browser an that is committing the cardinal sin of iPhoto: Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder. So for a novice it's safer to have them export the file to the desktop via the File->Export->File Export menu route, resizing as necessary in the process.

  • Building a dynamic dialog in Acrobat with Javascript

    I am attempting to figure out how to build dynamic dialogs within Acrobat using Javascript.
    I am attempting to write a generalized PDF page splitter.  The user selects a PDF document, and then the script analyzes the open document and determines that there are N pages in the document.  I am going to run through the document and make each page its own PDF.  Each page will be considered a certain kind of page, for example, Cover, Article, Ad, etc.  and the type of page it is will affect the naming convention I use when making the new, one-page file.  For example, let's say that pages 36, 37 and 38 are page, ad and article, respectively.  Then the names I will be using for each output file will be as follows:
    P12345Pg_036.pdf
    P12345Ad_037.pdf
    P12345Ar_038.pdf
    But there is no way for my code to actually look at a given page and decide that it is page, article, ad, or one of four cover types, etc.  So I want to build a dialog that looks something like this (assume a O is meant to be a radio button):
    Page          Pagetype
    1                  O Page      O Inner cover Front         O  Outer cover Front     O Ad           O   Article
    2
    O Page
    O Inner cover Front
    O  Outer cover Front
    O Ad
    O   Article
    3
    O Page
    O Inner cover Front
    O  Outer cover Front
    O Ad
    O   Article
    4
    O Page
    O Inner cover Front
    O  Outer cover Front
    O Ad
    O   Article
    N
    O Page
    O Inner cover Front
    O  Outer cover Front
    O Ad
    O   Article
    Beacuse each document varies in length, that means the dialog will need to be dynamic.
    I have looked at the Acrobat API and determined that defining a dialog looks something like this:
    var DialogABC = {
                                       initialize: function(dialog){},
                                       commit : function(dialog){},
                                       description:{}
    app.execDialog(DialogABC)
    What I do not know how to do is create the dialog specification on the fly.  Do I treat it as a string or is there some other way of making this happen?  How can I make a dynamic description that allows for a variable number of rows?
    Please let me know if you have any thoughts.  A good reference or example would serve just as well.
    TIA!

    There are two approaches to this:
    1. Treating the dialog object as a literal object
    2. Treating it as a string
    If you treat it as a literal object you can manipulate it like any other object. Each function can be defined separately, and the items in the various arrays can be added or removed as you please.
    If you treat it as a string then you can construce that string in a dynamic way, using loops or if-conditions, as you please, and then use the eval() command to convert it to an object when done.
    Both approaches are quite complex and require a lot of scripting experience to implement correctly.
