Opening a database file several times.

Is it possible to open a db file again and again to write and add values to it.Or can we keep it open and add records to it.Any pointer to reference or any suggestions please.

I have read the article peges. My question is like, i have to calculate a structure value and then store it in the Database.so every time i update my values i will be calling the c program file which contains the file operations. So is there any penality associated with frequent opening and closing of files whenever new data has to be written in to it.

I can think of a couple of reasons for this behavior.
You inadvertently turned off the sharing for the files.
The link that the user is clicking on is incomplete; perhaps it got broken across lines in an email message. Are you sending Anonymous Links or Personalized Invitations? If the former, are you certain that you copied the entire link?
Some things to try.
Have the user send the link back to you so that you can test it. Does it work for you?
If you look at your Sent Files list, is the name in the Sent To column struck through (e.g., John Smith)? That would indicate that it has been unshared.
If you could get back to me with answers, perhaps we can get to the bottom of this.

Unable to open windows database files hosted on Lion Server

I use Mac Mini as a server. With Snow Leopard Server I shared files hosted on Mac Mini and other PC computers on the network could use together Access and Quickbooks files. After upgrading to Lion Server no PC is able to open these database files. E.g. when opening MS Access file hosted on Lion server following error pops up: "too many users acessing the file". However, the Access database can be open from network PC when opening in exclusive (single user) mode. Normal multiuser mode brings error.
Is it possible to solve this Lion sharing issue?

Same problem. Just fired up a new Mini with Lion Server to replace an HP Home Server because we need more than 10 users in our church now. Got all the users set up with group permissions and home directories on the server. Unfortunately I expected Lion Server to work just like Snow Leopard Server and be able to serve up ODBC databases like Access and Quickbooks files.
Anyone heard if Apple has a solution to the "too many users" error message? It appears that Access in particular attempts to open the data file and create a locking file (ldb), but cannot get the file permissions it needs from Lion.
Sorry I have no solution for all yet.

I keep getting "Unresponsive Script" errors in random "jsm" files several times a day. Why?

Several times a day I get "Unresponsive Script" popups as I browse the internet. They're almost always different. Sometimes its in tabbrowser, sometimes it has something to do with a YouTube page I have open, and sometimes it occurs when I try to save a file with the built-in download manager.
I don't know why it does this so often. I don't have many Addons.
I also copied the technical information about my browser to help out if it can identify why these Unresponsive Script Errors keep appearing.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. 
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions. 
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Itunes not opening, tried re-installing several times, and nothing

tried opening itunes, but no response whatsoever. uninstalled and reinstalled several times from both download site, and cd that came with the video ipod purchased, and that didnt help. any suggestions?

Since the CC 2014 update I am having lots of problems with Muse. I get the Error #3125 quite often, and some pages won't load in Design mode. I tried to open the file from a local drive, but still doesn't work.

I've been having this problem too. I was using a server-side save location for the site and resources. I moved to my HDD and this seems to have resolved the error for me.

You won't be able to, just by navigating out the iPod's photos folder in iTunes. You'll likely need the help of some sort of third party software to get the job done for you. One thing you'll want to keep in mind about these photos is that they are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnail versions that were optimized for viewing on your iPod's Video smaller 2.5" LCD display.

You reset by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple Logo appears on the screen? It can take 10 seconds or so to do this. If you didn't wait until the Apple logo appeared, try it again. Even if yo did see the Apple logo, try it a couple more times.

The code is working fin, while i try to connect the BO which is avilble in Windows server, but this is not working if the BO is avilble in solaris server.

Not able to find Report - Standard templates or Report - Custom templates view in Administration - BIP reports in Siebel 8.1.1.3?
We have applied 8.1.1.3 patch on 8.1.1.0
below are the steps followed
Reports are not generated after 8.1.1.3 patch installtion.
we have also followed to below steps mentioned for this issue in oracle support.
"In order to resolve this behavior it is necessary to ensure that the 8.1.1.3 FixPack has been applied to the Siebel Tools installation. This will provide an additional .zip file in the REPPATCH folder of the Siebel Tools installation. Once this has been done please then follow the configuration steps as documented :
change sysprefix to X_ before sif import and chage back to SBL_ after sif import.
1) Import the sif files from Siebel\8.1\Tools_1\REPPATCH\12-1VMBCSV.zip
2) Import the 4 SIF files in the following order:
S_XMLP_REP_TMPL_02112010.sif
SBL_XMLP_REPORT_SELECTION_FLG.sif
Report Template BC.sif
Report Template Registration Applet.sif
3)Apply the DDL for table S_XMLP_REP_TMPL and compile repository
Once the above steps have been completed the Selected Record flag will appear in the Report Template Registration views."

Problem in opening cloned database

i have cloned database with name test to test1 in the same oracle home.My problem is that i can't able to open the cloned database
c:\>set oracle_sid=test1
c:\>sqlplus /nolog
SQL>conn sys/oracle as sysdba;
ORA-12560 TNS:Protocol adapter Error.
But if i use the folowing procedure i can able to open the cloned database
c:\>set oracle_sid=test(NOte test is the source database not clonned database)

SQl>startup nomount pfile='c:\oracle\pfile\inittest1.ora'(this is the location of init.ora file for cloned database)

Translating Microsoft Works 4.5 Database Files to Appleworks 6 format

Hi,
Having recently moved to Mac from Windows I am trying to transfer files from my old machine to my Mac mini. As I have thousands of files in Window format that I hope to use on my Mac I spent the money to purchase a copy of MacLinkPlus V. 15.
Happily when I attempted to translate word processing files created in Word 97 to Appleworks 6.2.9 all went well. But when I attempted to translate database files created in Microsoft Works 4.5 I ran into trouble!
To whit, after "adding" the MS Works database file to MacLink Plus I click on translate but when the translation settings window open there is no AppleWorks 6 database file format to select. I tried selecting AppleWorks 2.1, 3.0 but after the translation is done there is just a bunch of disorganized text in the destination file.
Given that the program claims to support MS Works 4.5 I was at a loss as to why this was happening so I contacted the MacLinkPlus help desk to find out what I should do. Initially they said that MacLinkPlus does not support Microsoft Works 4.5 file translation. But when I checked the link they supplied to supported formats Microsoft Works 4.5 database files were clearly shown as being fully supported.
When I pointed this out to them they next asked if I was sure I had Appleworks on my computer..... What can one say to a question like that, especially when it is asked in broken English?
Does anyone out there have any idea what is going on here? Is there a way to get MacLinkPlus to do what the company says it will do, i.e. translate my Microsoft Works database files to Appleworks 6 format? If not, what would folks suggest as a work around method of getting these database files into the Appleworks 6 database?

Thanks for the tips I guess that I will try to export the database files in tab delimited format and paste them into a database that I create in Appleworks 6. I can't say that I am looking forward to this, but it would appear I have no choice.
At this point in time I would have to say that my foray into the Mac World has been a most unpleasant experience. In truth when you add this difficulty to the many others I've had with my Mac I have had more computer problems in the past 3 months than in the prior 8 years with Windows.
By the way, I heard back from MacLinkPlus today and they had this to say:

The reason you don't have AppleWorks 6 listed as an option in MacLinkPlus, is because when it comes to Databases, MaclinkPlus only supports these formats:
AppleWorks 5.0
AppleWorks 6.0 (Read Only)
ClarisWorks 1.0, 2.x, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0
Excel 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 98, 2001, X, 2004
MS Works 2.0, 3.0, 4.0
SYLK (Read Only)
AppleWorks (Apple II) 2.1, 3.0
So, it is not going to give you AppleWorks 6 as an option because when Dealing with Database files, AppleWorks 6 isnot supported.
So what you can do, is choose either AppleWorks 2 or 3, convert the file.
Then try to use AppleWorks 6 to open it with.
AppleWorks 6 may not recognize such an old file though.

I must admit that I am still confused regarding all this. In your most recent e-mail you say that MacLinkPlus does not recognise Microsoft Works 4.5 database files but on your website it says that it does.
I tried your work around and Appleworks 6 refused to open the database file translated into Appleworks 2, 3 so it would now appear that I am not going to be able to use MacLinkPlus to translate the files.
While your offer for a refund on the MacLinkPlus was appreciated, I am out a great deal more than the purchase price of MacLinkPlus because of this. Simply put I would never have purchased my Mac mini computer in the first place if my visit to your website had not left me confident that your software would allow me access to my old database files.
To say that I am dissappointed would be quite an understatement and I certainly hope that your company rewrites the material on its own website in an effort to make clear that MacLinkPlus can not translate Microsoft Works database files.
In the mean time, know anybody looking for an almost brand new MacIntosh computer?

SQL and database file

Hello.(sorry for my english)
I have a legacy system , ported to opencobol that uses Berkeley DB. I can successfully open the database files using java both in windows and linux. However i want to create a web front end for the application.
Data is stored using strange cobol structures (most numbers are stored as text or 4 bits per digit) and other fancy stuff.. so custom parsers should be written. (dont rember BDB classes name for that)
I have been reading the documentation of Berkeley DB 12 hours totaly today but couldnt find answers to some questions...
Is it possible to attach the database to dbsql.exe (sqlite) server ?? I tried to do "attach "..pathtofile" as NULL ,but i get multiple databases specified and not supported and other stupid messages....
I think that what i tried propably doesnt make sense as collumns arent specified and nothing is in order this thing to work ..It is a simple Key value database.
So i am a little stucked here.
The only solution i can think is to synchronize with a relational Database. But i dont have triggers or nothing that helps....
Note that i want one way synchronization. The "other way" will have very limited tasks.
It seems to me that checking every x minutes if something changed using a cursor is a demanding task. So i am wondering.. Is there a way to track changes???

I am not sure I completely understand your question. If you are asking about importing
and exporting data from a Berkeley DB database into an Oracle DB Table in Berkeley DB
releases prior to 5.*, then this can be done with the Oracle OCI interface. If I am
misunderstanding the question, please let me know.

False File.exists; flex cannot open SQLite.db file

I have a program that uses an SQLite database. Instead of creating and importing the database, the sqlite databse already exists, with the data.
I am trying to open it and read the information (select* from table - for example); But nothing i do seems to work.
The error I am getting is: 'Error #3125: Unable to open the database file.', details:'Connection closed.', operation:'open', detailID:'1001'. I have checked the path repeatedly, The file exists. I run flash builder as administrator (win7).

I have moved the database file all around. In the final version of the program, the database will be stored in a seperate drive on a network (Z:/database.db, for example) So i need to use the absolute path; although i have tried others (application storage directory, etc)

I have an Oracle Express Edition 10g running on
Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 server.
I have an Oracle database file which is 2.1 GB in
size. I am not able to open this file using the
application or the Oracle sql developer. The error
message that I get is:
ORA-01110: data file 5:
'/usr/lib/oracle/xe/oradata/XE/service_3_0.dbf'
ORA-27041: unable to open file
Linux Error: 13: Permission denied
I think this has to do with the fact that since it is
not a 64-bit Linux but a 32-bit Linux, it does not
support files larger than 2GB. What do you think I
should do to tackle this problem?

ThayalanThat's interesting! I had no problems with opening files 32767MB in size on the very same 32 bit RH EL 4.0. How did you conclude that your file is too large, based on the error message which reads "Linux Error: 13: Permission denied"? Have you tried reading the manual page for the "open" system call and see when does it return EACCESS (error 13), found in /usr/include/asm-i386/errno.h. My man page for open says the following:
ERRORS
EACCES The requested access to the file is not allowed, or search per-
mission is denied for one of the directories in the path prefix
of pathname, or the file did not exist yet and write access to
the parent directory is not allowed. (See also path_resolution(7).)
What lead you to the conclusion that your file is too big? Do you have an access to a system administrator who knows how to use "strace"? If your system admin doesn't know how to use "strace", he too deserves waterboarding.
