Opening of Bex on clicking of query from user menu

Hi,
if i double click on the query seen in the user menu( first screen after login), i would like to open it in excel(Bex).
it opens a internet explorer page with some error.
what needs to be done?
the workbooks seen in the user menu open directly in excel.
what needs to be done for the queries?

I think you can run only URLs (web-based query) and workbooks...

You said the query saved in favorite from query designer will open in browser and the one saved from analyzer will open in bex excel. But it does not work for me. It saves as web icon and both query is opening in browser.

Can't open new tab by clicking + button or from File

I am unable to open new tab by clicking the + box or even from File - New Tab. It has been working perfectly but failed since last week. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the program but the trouble seems remaining unchanged.Is my Firefox affected by virus or something else? Please help! it is so inconvenient.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

Execute Query from SAP Menu with Analyzer

Hi.
I have created a menu for users. This menu contains links to queries that are opened with Internet Explorer.
Now, i want to have another link but instead of opening it with Internet Explorer, i want to open them with Analyzer.
Is possible to launch a query trough SAP Menu link in Analyzer? User will not need to open it trough 'Folder + Open Query ..'

Here are couple of directions:
1. Create a local workbook which has embedded query. Store this workbook on a remote server or BI/FTP and create a link from it. But once this link is clicked, that workbook will be downloaded and user will have to login again in BEx analyzer.
2. If we can call transaction "RRMX" from web, it will eliminate problem of relogin.
3. Launching BExAnalyzer.exe file from web should launch analyzer automatically. Check whether this file accepts any parameters like open dialogue or query name??

Issue accessing workbook from user menu.

Hi,
We are facing an issue in opening the workbook from the User menu.
Workbook is working fine if we open it directly from BEx Analyzer but its not opening the workbook report when we click it from the user menu link.
This issue started coming when we upgraded the microsoft excel from 2003 to 2007.
Any information related to it would be helpful.

We have had several issues similar running SAP BW 7.0 with BEx 3.5 workbooks after upgrading to Excel 2007. There are several SAP Notes concerning various Excel 2007 related errors. Most of these seem to be bundled in the just-released SAP BEx 3.5 Add-On Patch 7 for SAPGUI 710, so my advice would be to download this patch if you have not done so already.

Beyond that if you want to physically add something to the Main Menu > Modules tab ... you would need to use the SDK.
With SDK I can only think of the following:
1) Creata a menu
2) In the event handler access the desired query by menu UID from Tools > Queries -> ..., and
3) Call the Click() method of that menu.
Isn't there an easier (more automatic) way?

I have apply new changes for combine hierarchy. However I have tested in Query Designer/web and its works ok hence the user cant see the change.

Service name from user level through any query

Hi
One of my user want to find the oracle service name through SQL query from user level. This user is not a DBA.
With DBA privs this querry
SELECT NAME, VALUE FROM V$PARAMETER WHERE NAME = 'service_names';
brings the correct result. But user he will not have the access to read the V$PARAMETER table which is part of sys object.

this query is not giving my the correct result. Is there any way we can grab the service name from user level.

select sys_context('USERENV','SERVICE_NAME') from dual;You need to note that the result of the above depends on how you connect to the database. If you connect using NET Service, it should give you the SERVICE_NAME.

Is there any way to find the relation between the Bookmark ID and Query name? The favorite link is not working and getting the above error message. We are also not able to identify the query related to this favorite / bookmark link. Is there any table to identify for query and Bookmark?

Object is needed! How is the g_oConnection-object defined?
2. How can I pass values for the parameters from VBA?
If I open the query usually from SAP-BEX-Toolbar, after selecting the query, I get a parameter mask, where I must put in a value. How can I this automatize from VBA? Has anybody a short samplecode for that?

What I really want to do is write a stand-alone application that I can run from windows scheduler that queries our BW for sales data for certain items (in a tabular form) and pulls that data into a VB recordset, or a .NET dataset so that I can insert the rows into another database (SQL Server, or Access) I already know how to do all the data movement to/from datasets and databases I just cannot figure out how to programmatically grab this sales data from BW our company has workbooks already set up that aggregate WW sales information by region (IE, there is a separate workbook for each region of the world) I can manually go into the Excel interface, tell it which items to pull the sales info for, and it dumps the data into the worksheet (organized by customer, and then by cat #)
So, what Id like to do is write an app that will pull data every week or so from the BW (from each regions sales invoice detail workbook), and insert it into another database that we use for reporting other, non-sales, data.
Thoughts on this ? Is there another, non-BEx method that is better ?

Just assume like below,
you are creating your query in Development server(BI),
Before creating query, you go to SE09(t code), here you create a workbench request by clicking the create button.
Give some description here to be identified by you in future.
Now a requested will be generated(ex: DW5K50098) with prefix of your server name.
now you go to query designer, you create query, when you save the query, it will ask you request, now you click button 'own request'. you choose request(create by you in SE09).
it will be saved under this request, now you will have one more request under your request in SE09
parent request(DW5K50098) and child request(DW5K50099).
First you click child request and relese(click lorry button in se09),second you click parent request and lorry button.
next steps will be related to your organization, you can ask your team leader, he will be taking care of it.

Query not Opening using Bex Analyzer

Hi Experts,
We have developed queries in Designer, and we can execute them from query designer.
But if we try to run the query from Bex Analyzer no query output comes.
Output comes as No Data Available.
This issue is happening from past 3 days..before that we were able to execute from Analyzer also.
I am wondering has any setting is changed.
Kindly suggest , as this is very important for us to solve ASAP.

After applying the latest patches for core GUI and BI components, and the MS Office patch (sap Note 1025122), it should work correctly. I have faced the same issue and corrected it by applying these patches. (The MS office that I am using is MSOffice2003.)
Can you try opening the analyzer from the start menu, instead of using transaction RRMX?
If this way it is working correctly, then the softwares pieces are setup correctly.
Then you may want to check the customizations of your BI system. i.e. IF it was upgraded from the BW3.5 system? What strategy are you using for the report migration? The administrator might have changed the settings according to the strategy and current phase of the report migration.

Open a BEx Analyzer Workbook from a Web Application Template

Hello All,
I want to open a BEx Analyzer Workbook from a Web Application Template.
My vision is, that I have got a Button in my Web Application Template and when clicking on
it a Web Analyzer Workbook opens. The Analysis Item in the template and the Grid in the workbook are based on the same DataProvider. So you can open the report in web or in excel, but the people shouldn't open Excel separately when they use the web frontend.
I only found an export function, but this doesn't open a workbook. I couldn´t find a good solution here as well...
