Opening of PDF using PAR component

Hello
I'm trying to display a pdf in the portal. The data for the pdf has to come from  the backend. My question is as follows:
We've developed a ADOBE print form in R/3 and developed a FM which calls this form.
1. What should be the data type of the parameter that is returned to the portal after executing the FM. Should it be XSTRING or something else?
2. How do we open the pdf in portal.
There are certain posts from Detlev and Prakash Singh which speaks on this. But I could not figure it out. Can somebody please give a sample CODE for opening the pdf?
Note: I'm  using PAR component for the display.
There is a mention of some weblog of Prakash :
Create an excel file from JAVA using HSSF api
But I'm unable to locate this weblog. Can anybody please help me out as I'm stuck.

Forgot to mention that I dont want to use iText api's.
Thanks
Aditya

  • Opening a PDF using Acrobat X

    I would like to open a PDF using Acrobat X. I need to input boxes into my PDF form so that the form can be filled out on the computer by typing rather than having to print it out and hand write responses. I have downloaded the trial version of the Acrobat X. When I try to open the PDF with Acrobat X, it doesn't do it and I am unable to make the changes I wish. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    When you open the pdf it doesn't do what? If you can open Acrobat you need the form tool. If the form tool is not available under the tools panel, use View->Tools->Forms menu item to make it appear.

  • When using more than one tab, once I have opened a pdf using firefox my laptop will not allow me to type or click in another tab unless I drag the pdf into it's own window?

    when using more than one tab, once I have opened a .pdf using firefox my laptop will not allow me to type or click in another tab unless I drag the .pdf into it's own window? not a major problem just irritating.

    I found the cause but no solution, it's actually a plugin that does that: divx plus weblpayer (it gets installed when you install DivX on your system), if you disable it and restart firefox it all works again. But I want that plugin... so DivX need to fix this, unless it is a Firefox bug in its own core... anyway these two together creates the problem.
    (I'm running Firefox 9.x on OSX Lion)
    I also wish firefox tab tear out tab worked more like chrome's tab tear out, much friendlier...

  • How do you open a PDF using Adobe Reader on your IPad in IBook?

    How do you open a PDF File using Adobe Reader on your IPad When in IBook?

    You can't. When you're in most of the PDF readers, the Share button gives you the option of Open In another app. But iBooks does not.
    You need to add your PDFs through the iTunes method which Alec wrote about here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1040579?tstart=0
    Or you can use another way of transferring your PDF to the iPad, like Dropbox. You install the Dropbox app on your iPad and copy your PDF from Dropbox (cloud application). It opens in Dropbox app and you use the Share icon to move it into Reader.

  • Opening A PDF Using Flash

    OK, so there are countless hits on Google regarding this
    question, but there is not a single decent answer out there which
    seems to work. All I need is a surefire way of opening a PDF
    document after the user clicks a button. That is all. Most of the
    answers on the web talk about batch files for use on a CD or
    whatever. All I need is a simple way of getting the PDF to open.
    I've tried using the getURL command but this only works if
    the browser window is already open, otherwise it gives an error.
    Any ideas?

    Yes there is. Use FlashJester JStart

    Download the evaluation copy and look at the example files
    provided.

  • ? Every time I attempt to open a pdf using Adobe11 it crashes.  I reinstalled and same problem.

    ? Adobe 11 crashes every time I attempt to open a pdf. Uninstalled and reinstalled... still crashes.

    If you are in Windows (which we don't know), you can try using Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement.

  • Create script for a button to open a PDF using AS3

    I created a Flash movie in AS3 on the mac. I have several
    navigation buttons, I want to be able to click on a button and open
    a PDF. The finished movie will be an executable for the pc. I also
    want to do the same for a .swf file.

    Well, I think I got it working. The code I came up with seems a lot more simple than what I was experimenting with. I am pretty sure I did something earlier that was similar to this code but the current swf stayed with the player when the new one loaded, I am pretty sure the old swf is hiding underneath the new one but after some testing, the actual presentation is working as intended so I am waving the AS3 white flag and am accepting how this functions in its present state. I nearly gave myself a heart attack trying to get this simple function to work
    Anyway, heres my "final" code. If anyone sees something that should be adjusted, please let me know.
    play_iv.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, loadmain);
    function loadmain(event:MouseEvent):void {
                var prevu_english:Loader = new Loader();
                prevu_english.load(new URLRequest("assets/PreVu - English.swf"));
                addChild(prevu_english);
    Also, Thankyou Ned. You pointed me in the right direction. If I didn't keep looking at the loader class, I probably would have spent days doing trial and error until I got somewhere.

  • Can I open a PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9 in iFrame ?Please tell me if it is possible?

    Like->
    I have a PDF and I want to open it for preview in the Browser and also want to edit it ,in the same browser by using Adobe Acrobat.
    and I am using PHP for the Development.

    It won't work, they are linked to your account and can only be played via iTunes on a computer, an iOS device or Apple TV. You might be able to get a cable to link your Mac to your TV so that you can play/mirror it through your TV e.g. if it's a Macbook with an HDMI socket and your TV also has an HDMI socket then you could try an HDMI to HDMI cable (Apple do them, and electrical stores should also have them) - I've used one to play iTunes TV programmes on my TV (though I don't think that I got sound through my TV, only my Mac).

  • Open all PDF using Preview instead of Adobe Reader

    I recently install Adobe Reader and now all files are opening with Adobe Reader instead of Preview. I want to change the default to Preview for all PDF files. I did choose open with option key down... so that I can select open with... and then chose the option "always open with...". However this only changes the default application for the single file I chose and not to ALL PDF files. When I try to open any random PDF file, it defaults to Adobe Reader, even AFTER I selected "always open with... Preview" on a difference file. Any ideas on how I can make sure the Preview opens for ALL PDF files as default?
    Thanks,

    Have you made the change in the get info window? Control click on a PDF and choose get info. Scroll down to change all and click on that:

  • Opening .mp4 files using flvplayback component 2.5 in Air 3.2

    I've publishing the package using the extended desktop profile and captive runtime.
    When I run the published .exe file from a hard disk (either on my local machine or other test machines) it works fine, so I know that I have my code at least partially correct.
    I'm accessing the .mp4 files from a subdirectory of the applicationDirectory (eg: app:/video), the file names are read in from a .xml file.
    Example structure:
    exampleVideoSource = File.applicationDirectory.url+"video/12-16/attacking when in balance/counterattacking 2.mp4"
    Is this likely to confuse the FLVplayback component, if so what's the best way to get a working path?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Discovered the issue.
    For mounted drives you need to use the nativePath property.
    For cross platform applications you can simply replace() the delimiter with the .separator property.
    Also for some reason the skin wouldn't load, despite the fact that I had chosen it in the component selector.
    I ended up setting the myFLVplayback.skin property just before I added the component to the stage.
    On  a related note, does anyone know if there's a difference between publishing an app with included folders, and simply publishing the app and adding the folders to the .app directory after the .app folder has been published?

  • Unable to open any PDF using the Reader

    I downloaded a free trial version of Acrobat Pro, which after the tiral period requried a $19.?? monthly fee.  I decided not to buy.  Did not serve my purpose.  When the trial period ended my Reader no longer works.  I tried to download the reader agian, but the installation failed stating that I have a more complete version on my PC, already.  So I am totally stuck.  I am not able to uninstall the tiral version either.  Any help as to how I can resolve this problem will be appreciated.

    To make Adobe Reader your default PDF handler: Edit | Preferences | General, then click the Select Default PDF Handler button.

  • Can't open pdf using Reader X

    I have a pdf file that was created by Page Manager version 7.15.35.  I am unable to open this pdf when using Reader X; Reader opens but I get a blank dialog; no error message is produced.  I tried turning off Protected Mode bu that made no difference.  If I uninstall Reader X and install Reader 9.3 then I am able to open the pdf successfully.  I am able to open other pdfs using Reader X.  My only problem is with a pdf created by Page Manager 7.15.35.
    Can anyone suggest a solution?
    Thanks

    Thx, Stix.  Upgrading to 4.0 apparently solved the issue.
