Opening panel to build an application causes error 7

As soon as I open the panel to "Build Application or Shared Library (DLL)" I get an error:
"Error 7 occurred at Open VI Reference in Dist Call Set Busy.vi->Dist Cmp Setting to Disk Heir.vi->Build Application.vi"
I can appear to setup the build, but when I "Build" the application I get the identical error and nothing is created.

Error 7 means "file not found". From the source of the error, it looks like there something wrong with your LV installation.
Try dropping Set Busy.vi in a diagram. It should be in the Application Control>>Cursor palette.
If you can't drop or use it, then you need to find it and reinstall it. You can probably find it in your LabVIEW CD, but I would suggest simply trying a repair from the installation program.

Im Shahril.
My PC have 2 version of LV, 2012 and 2013.
The application required NI Variable Engine to be installed.
When i build the installer, nothing got wrong. AKA completed.
But when tested it by install the application installer, the error occurred as attached.
I do many times reinstalling the labview 2013. Still got the same problem.
And i did run the NI Update Service. Update everthing in urgent needs to update.
Please help me.

I can’t say for certain what’s going on here but I do have a few suggestions before you “recreate the installer for legacy code reasons.” First, I would delete everything from the Build Directory. This may be where the recursive issues are coming from. Lastly, in the My Installer Properties window, I would look at the Source Files and make sure everything is there and check for any broke links.

Opening Captivate 2 files in Captivate 4 causes error

Hi all,
I have a colleague here at work who has been doing a lot of work on some captivate files using captivate 2. All was going well until he had a hard drive crash, now to finish the files he is using the trail of captivate 4, after which a licence may be purchased. but for some reason 2 of his projects wont open in CP4.
Most of the time he will open a CP2 file in CP4 and it will ask him to re-save it, I suppose for compatability purposes. But on 2 of these projects it fails and they wont open at all.
I am able to open 1 of the files on my CP2 installation, and I tried to re-save it but still no luck.
I'm just wondering if there is anyway to repair the projects, or if CP2 files have problems going to CP4? perhaps they were damaged when his hard drive crashed.
The next thing he is going to try to install CP3 and see if the CP2 files will open then, otherwise he has a lot of work to do again.

Is there no possibility to copy and paste from the old to the new version, which means you need a machine with the two versions installed (they coexist happily together)?

Opening Remote Browser Session w/RT Client causes unopened VI from Project on Host computer to pop up and run

I have a functional global variable (FGV) that runs on my RT target (LV 9.0f2) and is set via SubVI Node Setup to "open front panel when loaded" and Execution under VI Properties for the FGV is set to "Run when opened", "Allow debugging", & "normal priority". The interesting thing that occurs happens when I have already opened the project it is contained in (but have not as yet opened any VIs) and then I establish a remote browser session with the already running real time startup application on the remote real time controller. Everything works as expected, I can see my front panel in the browser showing that the application is running. Once I begin to populate the controller's inputs with data, the data triggers a previously uncalled state of a subroutine that calls the FGV for the first time on the realtime system to start tracking the data.
It is at this point that the actual VI on my host machine opens and runs locally. I do have a web browser page available on the target machine that I can establish a session with but I have not opened it yet, and besides, this is the actual LOCAL VI that starts running. It even stops running when I initiate the remote stop capability of my realtime application from my browser session. The VI then remains open on my local machine.
This only happens when the project is open on the machine I have begun the remote browser session on. Is this a "feature" of LabVIEW? I haven't seen any problems as a result of this, but the "linking" behavior is a little disturbing because it seems like there is some background linkage happening here that might also cause other problems - what else is happening in the background, gremlins? (if you know what I mean)?
By the way, my platform is Windows XP SP3, the browser is Mozilla Firefox 3.5.5, the application on the real time controller is taking about 25% of both processors (PXI-8106) capability and the data is NI XNET (PXI-8512 / 2) CAN related.

What I am reporting on is pretty simple. I have a VI that is self starting and runs when called on the Realtime platform. While I am viewing the front panel of the calling VI using a remote web browser session, when the data that starts the VI on the remote platform begins to flow, the LOCAL VI on my laptop appears to open and appears to run LOCALLY. This only happens if I have the project open containing the build specification for the project AND I have requested control of the top level vi from the web browser session. I suspect that this is not expected behavior. I have not tested it, but the VI that pops up like I have described is the only VI I have placed in the build specification under the "always included" category of source files. Upon closer examination I am noticing that the VI that pops up does NOT stay open when the upper VI is stopped remotely.
I guess this isn't really a problem, just not quite sure why it happens.

Displaying the title of the open panel when attached to a window...?

This is probably a really obvious question... but when displaying the open panel as a panel/sheet attached to another window - is there a way to display the panel's title, or some other way to prompt the user?
For example, I have a preferences window that the user can click a variety of controls, several of which display the open panel... I'd like some way to remind the user which path to select (eg. "Select the path for BLAH").
One way around it is to temporarily set the title of the window the open panel is attaching to, but I have several windows, and the panel may attach to any one of them... I'd rather not test for each possibility (because, for example, the nib for that window might not be loaded yet, etc.).
Any ideas?

Wow, I should probably get some sleep...
The answer is obvious... after all, I need to know which window to attach the panel to.

Enhance output of Target Group opened in segment builder

Hello Experts,
We are implementing SAP CRM Lean Marketing using CRM 7.0. Our business requirement is to do segmentation based on Company attributes and Relationship Category. The output of the target group should enlist the persons related to the Company based on the relationship category selected while doing the segmentation.
Using standard InfoSet CORM_MKTTG_BP_ORG_CDE and while creating data source selecting BUT000_PER-PARTNER_GUID in the field business partner, we are able to get the list of persons matching the segmentation query (based on the relationship category e.g. Has Supplier, Has Contact Person, etc) . But the issue is , the output of the target group (shown as an ALV grid , when the target group is opened in segment builder) only enlists matching Persons, it does not enlist the related company ID /name in front of the Person ID in the output of the target group. And this Company BP ID is not available if I try to modify the output layout. So business is unable to understand the Person enlisted in TG belongs to which Company. Can we enhance this ALV grid output of the target group displayed in segment builder ? if yes , how can it be achieved ? If this is possible and we are able to add related company BP ID/ name in front of every person enlisted in the target group then our issue gets resolved. Or is there any alternative solution to resolve this issue ?
Highly appreciate your early response in order to resolve this critical issue.

As per your suggestion I made additions to my z Infoset , and added all the fields you suggested.
While creating the data source I selected following fields
Business Partner: BUT000_PER-PARTNER_GUID (as my requirement is to return Persons and this field works with only GUID)
Reference Object: BUT051-RELNR
Reference Object Type: BUT051-RELTYP
Now when I create the target group with this data source unfortunately I am still not getting the the relationship number when I click in Show assigned Objects in the target group screen of web UI.
Please suggest where I am going wrong

Problem i'm facing while trying to open the form builder

Hi all,
I'm facing a small problem while i'm trying to open the form builder via Portal - content management - form builder, i.e., intially a dialogue box statting that :
Applet(s) in this HTML page requires a version of java different from the one the browser is currently using. In order to run the applet(s) in this HTML page, a new browser session is required, press 'Yes' to start a new browser session.
is getting displayed.
when i click either of the buttons, only a statement as : java plug in dected JRE collission get's displayed.
If any one knows what this problem is all about, please share the same.

Hi Vipin,
It should be the problem with the JDK version you have currently got installed. Un Install the current version and install latest JDK and set your browser to use this JRE.
Also goto System Admin>System Config>Content Admin-->Form based publishing and ensure that the check box for "Allow HTML Output" is checked.

ARXAGMW.rdf throws BUILD_INVOICE_SELECT error when opening in Reports Builder 10.1.2.0.2

Has anyone run across this error? "The source size of the program unit BUILD_INVOICE_SELECT is 91159 characters. This exceeds the recommended maximum source size of 90000 characters on this platform." I'm just opening the standard report in Reports Builder...no customizations thus far. Wondering if this is related to the Report Builder version I'm on or not.

Thanks for the response. The document is good for issues with jsp reports. I am not even able to save this one as jsp till now. Not sure if there is some other way to do it.
This is what I did:
1. Create an excel template with 2 worksheets.
2. Save as xml.
3. Try to open with reports builder.
Thats when I get the error.

Opening Panel - Change colour and or contrast.

How can I change the contrast and.or colour s on the front Panel to make it easier to see the various menus. I have recently started to loose some of my sight and the opening Panel is now difficult to read / work through.
Is it possible to show the various editing options etc. as white on black rather than white on grey ?

I know that it existed in Labview 4.1, but after upgrading to 5.0 I
can't find it anymore. So, can anybody tell me where it is located.
Is there anybody who did �window handling' under LabView, like moving,
resizing, positioning, opening, closing, ... them? If so, I am
interested if you are using only all the vis which come with labview or
do you use a special (smart) vi library, which could be found at
(->please send me that address).

The VI still exists, though it is there for compatibility, so that
older applications will still work. The new and improved way to
get at that functionality and lots more is the VI Server. You
will need to go to the Application
palette, the one with the LV
icon on top of a hand. Inside there you will find icons for getting
access to a VI's reference, wire that to a property node and select
Panel Window.Open. Wire True to open the window and False to close it.
As I said, there are lots of other properties, probably 20X what there
used to be; so things are now packaged differently. You will probably
also want to read a bit of the user manual and perhaps look at some of
the examples that deal with the server.

Have you tried opening them directly from the Applications folder, rather than the Dock?

Open files in Builder from Windows Explorer

Hi,
As I'm browsing files with Windows Explorer (on XP SP2) I
want to be able to double click on a file with a certain extension
(.xml, .java, etc.) have have it open up in Builder/eclipse. Using
the normal way of doing file associations ("Open With..."), I get a
"workspace in use" error (and the file still doesn't open). This
seems like it should be a slam dunk, I did this with JDeveloper all
the time - is it not possible with Eclipse? Thanks.

are you able to open a file from explorer when eclipse is not
running. ie - is it loading files whileu have eclipse already open
thats the problem?
if so, this is because eclipse is trying to run a second
eclipse. there is a way to tell applications that they can only
open once. if this is whats happening, i'll have a look at it, i
know i made a note about ths for something else last year, but just
cant remember right now.
i agree tho, it should be set to work in this way as
standard.

Well my problem now is that if I want to call a panel from another panel,
this first panel must be closed, because if it isn't closed thr progam doesn't
run.
I know how I have to call another VI, but the problem is that if the VI has
been opened before, you can't open a VI twice, so I should close the Vi before
calling another VI.
I have seen the help and exist two VI's called 'Close Panel' and 'Open Panel',
but I haven't found them yet!
Is there any helpful suggestion for me?

Open Panel and Close Panel are in the library
\labVIEW\Vi.lib\Utility\victl.llb
They were in the standard pallet before LV 5, they are still there for backward compatibility. The new VIServer functionality in
LV 5.x does the same and more and so replaced them.
Also note Open Panel and Close Panel are now constructed using VIServer functions, where before they were dll or cin calls.

Accordion opening panel

I inserted an accordion with two panels. Panel 1 - and Panel
2 is at the bottom. When I click on Panel 2, it opens Panel 1 to
full view. and when I click on Panel 1, it opens Panel 2 to full
view. How do I fix it so if I click on panel 2, panel 2 opens to
full view and if I click on panel 1, panel 1 opens to full
view?

Well I cannot post it to production on the website, it is
only in my testing stage area. Can I attach the .htm document -
.css and .js files somewhere or e-mail them?
When the page loads there are two panels, panel 1 shows with
a scrollbar, and panel 2 shows under that - which panel 2 displays
the entire panel. When I click on panel 1, it doesn't show the
entire panel for panel1, it just stays there with the scroll bar. i
want to be able to click on Panel 1 and then it show the entire
panel for panel 1 and then panel 2 will be shortened with the
scroll bar and vise versa.

Short dump when opening the segment builder

After the upgrade from CRM 4.0 to 2007, we are no longer able to open the Segment Builder. We always get a short dump (Message_type_X). Anyone encountered this problem before and has a solution?

though it is true that in CRM 2007 the GUI transactions should not be used anymore I am able to start the segment builder directly via transactioin CRMD_MKTSEG. It is working without a shortdump.
For documentation I suppose you have to refer to SAP: Help or the documentation available under service.sap.com. The blog posted here might be an alternative as well.
