Opening up a port in ASA5505

Hi!
I have an ASA5505 running 8.2(5) and it works fine with a simple config (thanks JF). However, behind it, a NAS is set to download stuff automatically somehow using port 51413. It seems this has stopped working.
How do I open that port to a specific internal IP?
D

Hi!
OK, I have more info: t is a Bittorrent client on a Readynas. With this plain config (below) I was thinking it would work, but no.
I can only find guides to block .torrent, how about the opposite?

  • How do I open the same ports on an Airport Extreme Base Station for multiple computers at the same time?

    As the title suggests...
    I have a mix of five Mac and PC's at home using an Airport Extreme Base Station as the router.   I need many ports opened on the AEBS for all of the computers- not just one computer.  (for example: three people want to play TF2 on Steam at the same time; each machine needs the correct ports open on the router).   Port forwarding  only allows me to forward a given port to a single IP, yet I need that port open for five differnt IP's, all at the same time.
    How do I do that on an AEBS?
    In the same way, I have a small office of four iMacs using an old airport with the same exact issue.   I would like to be able to connect to all of them remotely with Apple Remote Desktop, but the port forwarding on the airport only allows a port to forward to a single IP.   I want to be able to tunnel into the office network and log onto any machine behind the Airport extreme... not just a single IP.    I currently have it set up where I can tunnel into the office from my house, I can find the one machine that the port forwarding has been assigned to, I can log on and everything is just fine... with one machine.    How do I open the firewall for the other machines?
    TL,DR version:  How do you open ports on an Airport Extreme Base Station instead of forwarding ports?   Forwarding ports doesn't work for multiple IP's.

    You can open a single or multiple ports to a single device or different ports to different devices, but you cannot open the same port to multiple devices via the AirPort Utility for the Apple routers.

  • Unable to log in user at this time / opening up all ports

    I've got a lion 10.7.3 server and several Lion client boxes all attached via ethernet to an airport extreme.
    I've got a bona fide certificate that seems to have installed correctly, and the client is talking to the open directory server
    Without fail, I get a message "unable to log in the user at this time" on each of the clients...
    UNLESS I open up all ports on my airport extreme to the server.
    I've tried opening individual ports for AFP, profile manager (1640, 2195), open ldap (389, 636) and even kerberos (88).  Even with all of these open, it still doesn't work.  I have to open up everything to get the error to go away - then the users can log in just fine.
    Note, I'm logging in from the local network to a server on the local network, so this just seems bizarre.
    I don't have the logs on this computer, but I recall that the error was occurring when it tried to mount the home directory, after authentication.  It was an error 64 from homedirmounter (if memory serves).
    Any thoughts on what port I'm missing that might be causing the error?

    3659 is the SASL port used by the password server, so that makes a certain amount of sense.
    However, I still maintain that if your network is configured in the way I'd expect, the base station shouldn't be relevant. The clients should be connecting on a LAN-to-LAN basis so the firewall/filter in the base station shoudn't be in play.
    Given what you say, I suspect you've misconfigured your network - probably at the DNS level and you're not running private DNS for your LAN, which would force the clients to connect through the public address. The risks and downside of this approach are numerous - not least of which is the fact that you ARE exposing your server to the general public (including all the less-than-honourable people out there). On that basis there is a risk and i'd look to close that soonest.
    You should have a private DNS server running on your LAN that knows the private network addresses of your servers and clients. In this way any client should be able to connect directly to the server's LAN address, bypassing the public interface on your base station. I suspect that if you perform a DNS lookup on your server's hostname you get back its public address, right?

  • Is there a way to open a remote port programmatically in java code

    Hi,
    I'm trying to open a remote port which is closed by the windows firewall in a java code. I want to know weather this is possible?
    If yes, tell me a way to do this?
    Thanks.
    Buddhika

    Because, that port should be kept closed and I want to open it when i need it in runtime. Also i have full privileges to access that remote machine. So i >want to change the firewall setting while application running.Can't you have a application running on the remote PC that makes use of two ports, and Admin port and a General port?
    The Admin port will be created on startup and use some authentation to make sure that a the application that connects to it will have admin rights
    Use that application to tell the "Server" to open and close the General port.

  • Apple's Firewall opens the wrong ports!

    This is a follow up question to a problem posted in another forum here. There are a couple of screenshots in the last post that illustrate the problem.
    In System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall, checking Apple Remote Desktop opens TCP and UDP ports 3238. The problem is that Apple Remote Desktop needs ports 3283 (not 3238 - note the last two digits are transposed) and 5900. I've already worked around this issue by creating a new firewall entry that opens the correct ports, but I'd really like to get my Sharing Preferences corrected. Plus it bothers me that I can't block port 3238 by unchecking Apple Remote Desktop since that will prevent ARD from working, even though it opens the wrong ports.
    This isn't really an Apple Remote Desktop problem, it's something wrong with the firewall in this system's version of OS X. Any idea how I can fix it, other than the ugly workaround I'm using, and short of reinstalling OS X?

    Editing the .plist file is easy with xcode's Property List Editor, which I just installed. However, before I did that I simply copied a "correct" /Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist file from another computer. That was even easier

  • How many sockets can be opened to one port

    Hi All,
    There is a service installed on port 4444 of our server. In order to do some work with that service we open sockets to it with socket:localhost:4444. The thing we are finding is that it is quiet expensive to initialise these socket connections per request to our website and I'd like to pool connections. I have implemented a pool but currently this closing the connection when returning to the pool. I would actually like them to stayalive in the pool but I do not know if I can have many sockets open to one port?
    Thanks!

    You are unlikely to get an exact answer.
    The first limit you'll probably run into is the number of file descriptors that can be open at a time. This depends on your OS and configured per-process limits.
    Socket buffers use memory. Amount of memory, allowed process size (if your OS enforces that with in-kernel buffers), and size of send/receive buffers give another limit.
    Other OS-dependent limits, such as a max global file descriptor count, may exist.
    TCP/IPv4 (if you use that) connections are defined by a 4-tuple {source address, source port, destination address, destination port}. As long as source address&port are unique, the same destionation address&port can be used. So theoretically you could have some two hundred trillion connections to a port (32 bit addresses * 16 bit ports minus non-allowed addresses.)
    In practical terms: check max file descriptor count. A few dozen to a few hundred should be ok for web server -class systems. Try and see what works.

  • What is the weblogic process or file opened with udp port?

    I'm running weblogic 8.1 on linux AS 3.0, whenever I bring it up, there is a process that listens on udp, although my weblogic runs on default tcp port 7001. What file or process opened with up port (32770)? I'm curious to know whats running with udp..
    Thanks

    Does anyone know why weblogic opens udp port/ which process maps to the port?
    Thanks

  • Which security risks can be exploited bij opening a routed port on a windows network

    Which security risks can be exploited by opening a routed port on a windows network
    Our company is implementing a web application with potential security issues we have never dealt with before. The situation is
    as follows:
    Network
    •A LAN with internet router and firewall with a port (f.e. 4589) open, which is routed to IIS server address.
    •Network with IIS server, Windows clients and server(s)
    •MSSQL application Database on a windows client or server
    •IIS Server hosts a .NET 4.0 WCF Web service
    Purpose of this config:
    •Internet users can use IIS web service to read and write application database tables.
    •IIS server has a certificate for authenticity, web services are configured to only use https.
    •Application exposes 2 web services:
    •1. without user authentication: can only read non-essential information from database
    •2. with user auth., for reading and writing more essential information.
    I have the following questions concerning security:
    1.Can I Isolate external access to the IIS server only, and shield access to the rest of the physical (windows) machine ?
    2.We have a lot of customers with only 1 windows 7 or 8 PC. What extra security risks arise in case of a combined MSSql Express
    database, Windows integrated IIS 7 or 8, and a customer doing its daily business on the windows client on this PC. (Daily  business involves: use of our application (with database), Email, Office, Internet)
    3.Can you see any other security vulnerabilities in this scenario, assumed that all machines in the LAN are properly patched ,
    shielded with antivirus product and maintained?
    Since security is not really my field of expertise, I would be very happy to get some explanation on potential risks of this
    configuration.
    Thanx in advance, Oskar Stok
    Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Robert Bakker Flexdata

    Hi,
    1.Can I Isolate external access to the IIS server only, and shield access to the rest of the physical (windows) machine ?
    You can configure Windows Firewall rules based on ports.
    2.We have a lot of customers with only 1 windows 7 or 8 PC. What extra security risks arise in case of a combined MSSql Express
    3.Can you see any other security vulnerabilities in this scenario, assumed that all machines in the LAN are properly patched ,
    Honestly, I don’t see vulnerabilities here, if you want to secure the server and clients, place them in a private network, you can also use NAT and hardware firewall.
    In addition, you can install System Center Endpoint Protection to prevent virus and spyware.

  • How to open the comm ports?

    Hi,
    im using javacomm to detect my comm ports.i have two serial
    and a parallel port (com1,com2 and LPT1) but it found no ports and throws
    as follows,
    found: javax.comm.CommPortEnumerator@e83912
    found: 0 open ports
    i placed .properties file in ..\jdk1.5.0\jre\lib
    comm jar file in ..\jdk1.5.0\jre\lib\ext
    and WIN32COM.DLL in ..jre\bin
    am i doing right?

    import javax.comm.PortInUseException;
    import java.util.Enumeration;
    import java.util.Vector;

    ports.add(pId.getName());
    System.out.println(pId.getName()+ " is open");
    return ports;
    please help me on how to open the comm ports..

    Try this, It workd for me. Before doing this make sure you have serial ports on you r computer by following these steps:
    open "regedit"
    go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" > HARDWARE > DEVICEMAP
    and check if there is any serial ports. If htere is any, then use following program to enumerate throught the ports:
    class SimpleRead() {
    portList = CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifiers();
         while (portList.hasMoreElements()) {
         portId = (CommPortIdentifier) portList.nextElement();
         if (portId.getPortType() == CommPortIdentifier.PORT_SERIAL) {
              if (portId.getName().equals(defaultPort)) {
              System.out.println("Found port: "+defaultPort);
              portFound = true;
              SimpleRead reader = new SimpleRead();
         if (!portFound) {
         System.out.println("port " + defaultPort + " not found.");
    }

  • Is firefox Hello (v36.0) automatically opening a listening port when starting up? Is this a security risk?

    After updating to firefox 36, windows firewall offered to block firefox. That usually happens when a program opens a port to accept INCOMING connections. Currently I have blocked it!
    Is firefox opening a listening port and is that a security risk?
    Have fun

    Mozilla Firefox is very security conscious and privacy aware.
    Some of the connections made are intended to increase security by ensuring everything is updated.
    See
    * https://www.mozilla.org/privacy/websites/ {and follow linked articles)
    * [[How to stop Firefox from automatically making connections without my permission]]
    I am not certain if the Hello & social button do anything, but you can experiment with the settings mentioned in the above article, although generally it would be best if after any experiments you returned to the default settings.

    Well, 1.1.9.147 is the IP address of my PC.
    So, Whats the problem?
    If you need of the rest of code, please say me.
    Thanks.
    Angel.

    Well, I am agree with you, but I have this code in the Transmit File (Server):
    * Use the RTPManager API to create sessions for each media track of the processor.
    private String createTransmitter() {
         // Cheated. Should have checked the type.
         PushBufferDataSource pbds = (PushBufferDataSource)dataOutput;
         PushBufferStream pbss[] = pbds.getStreams();
         rtpMgrs = new RTPManager[pbss.length];
         SessionAddress localAddr, destAddr;
         InetAddress ipAddr;
         SendStream sendStream;
         int port;
         SourceDescription srcDesList[];
         for (int i = 0; i < pbss.length; i++) {
         try {
              rtpMgrs[i] = RTPManager.newInstance();
    //The local session address will be created on the
    // same port as the the target port. This is necessary
    // if you use AVTransmit2 in conjunction with JMStudio.
    // JMStudio assumes - in a unicast session - that the
    // transmitter transmits from the same port it is receiving
    // on and sends RTCP Receiver Reports back to this port of
    // the transmitting host.
              port = portBase + 2*i;
              ipAddr = InetAddress.getByName(ipAddress);
              localAddr = new SessionAddress( InetAddress.getLocalHost(),
                                       port);
              destAddr = new SessionAddress( ipAddr,
                                  port);
              rtpMgrs.initialize( localAddr);
              rtpMgrs[i].addTarget( destAddr);
              System.err.println( "Created RTP session: " + ipAddress + " " + port);
              sendStream = rtpMgrs[i].createSendStream(dataOutput, i);
              sendStream.start();
         } catch (Exception e) {
              return e.getMessage();
         return null;
    When I use this Files (Client/Server), between diffrent PCs into LAN, eg, Client (One PC) and Server (Another PC), but I used:
    This One PC: (IP Address PC = 1.1.9.150)
    C:\run\ex14\java AVTransmit2 file:/c:/run/format/audrip.au 1.1.9.147 45300
    Another PC:(IP Address PC = 1.1.9.147)
    C:\run\ex14\java AVReceive2 1.1.9.147/45300
    Thats work right!
    So, whats happen?

  • Customer cannot open all the ports - MAP 9.5

    Hi,
    Taking an inventory using MAP 9.5.
    Customer cannot open all the ports.
    135-139 and 445 are open.
    We are still not getting any success [just 3% inventory success]. Further only those machines are listed in WMI Success which are in the same subnet as the machine on which MAP is running.
    We are using Inventory Scenario>Windows computers and Discovery Methods >AD + Scan IP range.
    Is there any alternate method?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    I tried to change the port number to 22222, 66666 and 49150. With the same effekt. I found out that when I run the program for the first time after a reboot I get these errors:
    javax.media.NotConfiguredError: getTrackControls cannot be called before configured
    at com.sun.media.ProcessEngine.getTrackControls(ProcessEngine.java:285)

    I have to quit the program with Ctrl-c. The next time I run it I get the IOException as described above :( .

  • Help me ! "can not open local data port"

    I have successfully ended the previous transmit,but wen I began a new transmit,it failed. It printed "can't open local data port ",why?
    Is it telling that the port is still in use???
    And how can I solve this problem?
    Anyone help me?
    Thanks very much,
    yyc

    Hi,
    this problem occurs when You try to open the same port twice time, You can solve it by opening other port.

  • Cannot create the RTP Session: Can't open local data port

    Hi,
    I'm trying to connect to two webcams simultaneously in the order:
    MediaLocator inputLocator1 = new MediaLocator("rtp://hostname1:8000/video");
    MediaLocator inputLocator2 = new MediaLocator("rtp://hostname2:8000/video");
    But I get this during the second connection:
    Cannot create the RTP Session: Can't open local data port: 8000
    And I can't see the video from hostname2.
    I did a check via netstat, and it seems that both mycomputer is receiving the video from both hostname1 & hostname2:
    TCP mycomputer:3236 hostname1:8000 ESTABLISHED
    TCP mycomputer:3264 hostname2:8000 ESTABLISHED
    TCP connections to both host were established!! But why can't I see the video of hostname2???? I've thought of 2 possible reasons why I cannot see the video of hostname2:
    1. Is this set of local data port maintained by Java? i.e It's not the same as the TCP port 8000 that I see in mycomputer's netstat. If yes, Java has assigned its local data port 8000 to hostname1, so it fails to reassign that port 8000 to hostname2 while hostname1 is still connected. Any other way to fix this apart from changing the portnumber of hostname2?
    2. It has to do with the custom.jar? I've read in an article somewhere in the forum that the custom.jar has to be customized (using JFMCustomizer) to receive video from two hosts with the same portnumber. Can someone elaborate the necessary boxes to check in the JFMCustomizer?
    Thanks much,
    Rach

    After all this while, I finally figured out the problem. In my code, I use MediaLocator to code the receiver and the transmitter. E.g.:
    MediaLocator inputLocator1 = new MediaLocator("rtp://hostname1:8000/video");
    player1 = Manager.createPlayer(inputLocator1)
    MediaLocator inputLocator2 = new MediaLocator("rtp://hostname2:8000/video");
    player2 = Manager.createPlayer(inputLocator2)
    Manager would complain "Cannot create the RTP Session: Can't open local data port: 8000" because port 8000 is already used up by player1, i.e.:
    mycomputer:8000 maps to hostname1:8000
    mycomputer:8000 cannot re-map to hostname2:8000
    To work around this, I'll need to use SessionAddress. SessionAddress provides the flexibility to do an independent local port mapping, e.g.:
    mycomputer:5000 maps to hostname1:8000
    mycomputer:5002 maps to hostname2:8000
