OPMN starup issue -

Hi ,
We have two instances on Essbase server.
epmsystem1 and epmsystem2.
I am running the below commands at "../Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1/bin"
1. When I use the below command and got the message as below.
$ ./startEssbase.sh
Starting Essbase.properties
Apache Ant version 1.7.1 compiled on June 27 2008
Buildfile: ../Middleware/EPMSystem11R1/common/config/11.1.2.0/resources/instance/start.xml
Finish Essbase.properties
2. When you use the below command,
$ opmnctl status
I got the error message " opmnctl status: opmn is not running."
3. When you use the below command,
$ ./opmnctl startproc ias-component=epmsystem1
I got the error message " opmnctl startproc: opmn is not running.
4. When you use the opmnctl startall command, I receive the below messages:
$ ./opmnctl startall
opmnctl startall: starting opmn and all managed processes...
Module libopmness: library load error:
/opt/app/hyperion/Oracle/Middleware/ohs/opmn/lib/libopmness.so
Module libopmness initialization failed: disabled
XML parse: EPM_epmsystem1~Essbase1, process-type: ESS, module: libopmness is mising start callback.
opmnctl startall: failed.
Log details:
Please answer to my below questions if you come accross and have an idea on the same.
1. Do I need to check any prerequisites ( like update environment variables, settings) before performing these steps?
2. Can I run the startall command from any instance (for example, epmsystem1 or epmsystem2 )
Please share me your thoughs/ideas/sugguestions. Thank you ..
Ganesh.

Hi Friend,
Can you unset the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64 & LD_LIBRARY_PATH and then try to start your opmn, i think it will work after that.

  • Opmn server issue

    Greetings, I'm trying to install OBIEE 11g on Oracle VM running Linux 5 and i'm having a couple of issues.
    My Configuration Progress always fails at this point: Creating ASInstance
    the error log states the following:
    Caused by: oracle.as.provisioning.util.ConfigException:
    Error creating ASInstance instance1.
    Cause:
    An internal operation has failed: Error in starting opmn server
    Operation aborted because of a system call failure or internal error
    If i try to run opmn server manually, i get this error:
    can not resolve localhost.localdomain for interface any
    opmnctl start: failed
    I've seen posts about this issue already and they always say to edit the /etc/hosts file. I have done so and it looks like this now:
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    192.168.1.10 localhost.localdomain localhost
    ::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6
    ::1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    I have set my IP to be static, I've installed the Database, I've created the repositories using RCU, i've installed WebLogic prior to running OBIEE, so I have no idea why the hell this is happening.
    Any thought will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Ashish,
    Basically both methods (using ias-component or process-type) should work but to evaluate a source of error, you can alternatively check with both for its behavior.
    Now, let's see.
    - Did you update the configuration of httpd.conf or any other configuration file through any text editor? did you update the configuration of the system after it? just to ensure that is not the case, try the following:
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl validate opmn.xml
    $ORACLE_HOME/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig
    And now try
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl startproc process-type=HTTP_Server
    - Also, check if you have multiple Network cards (NICs) on this system? Particularly, check the two files opmn.xml and ons.conf for hostname and ip matching. they should be referring to the same values. Any conflict here can also possibly cause the error you are getting.
    hope that helps!

    The problem is resolved. I'll like to share the cause & solution which might be helpful for the group.
    ====Environment======
    Basically i had 2 Oracle Database homes(DB1 & DB2) and 3 Application Server Home (INFRA,BI & SOA) on my Unix Box.
    ======Problem=======
    The opmn only failed to start my BI Home on server reboot; however all the opmn proccesses were ALIVE prior to reboot.
    ========Cause=======
    The determined cause was ONS port conflicts between Application Server homes and Database homes.
    Port conflict means it's a "first in, best dressed" situation with whatever process comes up first grabbing the port. In this case it's a clash between DB2 and BI and it just so happens that the BI missed out on binding to the port.
    ========Solution======
    Depending on the type of DB installs you have a few options ...
    IF the DB installs are non-RAC and you are not running CRS, we can simply rename the database $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/ons.config and bounce the database listener as the DB does not need ONS in a non-RAC install
    IF the DB installs are RAC and/or you are running CRS, we can either change the database ONS ports, or change the Application Server ONS ports.
    So removing the port conflict is all that is required. Either by adjusting the ports or (in the case of a non-RAC database) removing the ONS configuration information.
    Make sure you backup the files before changing the ports ; once you are able to start the opmn processes , commit the changes to DCM repository by running "dcmctl updateconfig -ct opmn" on BI and INFRA home.
    Also update the INFRA home with the new BI information
    Thanks,

  • Managing ODI Agent through OPMN - Install Issue

    Hi
    I am attempting to set up my ODI agent so that I can manage it through my OPMN service but I keep getting an error "java is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" when I run the command "odi_opmn_addagent.bat agentcreate.properties".
    I have installed EPM 11.1.2.2 and my essbase service is currently managed through the OPMN.
    I have updated the odiparams, agentcreate.properties and odi_opmn_addagent.
    In the agentcreate file I set my JAVA_HOME to E:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_29
    Any ideas what could be wrong?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Although the exception was not relevant, it was due to the RMI port conflict. The SQLRepositoryEventServer component of other instance randomly picked up the port used by this instance.
    It is resolved now. Thanks

  • Ongoing Starup Issue - 2 months old. [ELITE Mac Master Level]

    I closed the case on my PB and an hour later, it's dead.
    The only signs of life I get is the hard drive quietly hums when I start it up and the green caps lock & number lock lights works.
    I get no chime, no screen activity and as far as I can hear with my ear pressed up to the case, no hard drive activity except for the spinning sound. (no clicks or ticks)
    In an attempt to fix this problem i have performed the following steps
    -tried resetting power PRAM, and NVRAM
    -tried resetting the Power manager
    -disconnected all usb/firewire/ext devices
    -tried starting in target disk mode
    -tried booting from CD, but it at my disk!!!
    It only does one thing.

    ok, I got it to boot up.
    It's been up for 8 hours now, but I know if I close the lid or allow it to fall asleep, it will never wake up.
    I swear, if this was a a car, the problem would be the starter. Do i really have to pay apple to repair a defective laptop?

  • Opmn oc4j error

    Hi
    I have two Oracle AS releases installed on one server, one is ASR2 that runs train and the other AS3R that runs live and test.
    We had an issue with the seperate raid array that the database files reside on, resulting in replacment disks and a cold restore of the database. This has worked fine and there are no database issues.
    Upon restart of the server after restarting the server, when doing a OPMN startall, everything starts apart from RSG and live and test which are running under the ASR3 home. The Http server shows as started fine.
    The only error I can find that is new and not always been there is the following:
    WARNING: ApplicationStateRunning.loadConnectors Exception loading connector xlJMSResourceAdapterModule : Error parsing oc4j-ra.xml d:\oracle\ product\10gASR3\j2ee\home\application-deploymnts\default\oracleasims

    When i view the oc4j-rs.xml file it appears to be empty, can anyone help me? I am thinking best approach is restore the file from the tape backup?
    Thanks in advance

    You don't say what version you are using.
    What I'd look to do is to turn on the OPMN debugging output so that you can see the exact command OPMN is issuing and see if that yields any more information.
    In 10.1.3.x you can do this using the $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/opmn.xml file by adding the debug line
    <opmn xmlns="http://www.oracle.com/ias-instance">
    <log path="$ORACLE_HOME\opmn\logs\opmn.log" comp="internal;ons;pm" rotation-size="1500000"/>
    <debug path="$ORACLE_HOME\opmn\logs\opmn.dbg" comp="internal;ons;pm" rotation-size="1500000"/>
    </opmn>

    Hello,
    Whenever I start the application server I encounter a dialog box with the following error
    "opmn.exe encountered a problem and needed to close."
    When I try to troubleshoot it, it takes me to a temp folder in the c:\ which contains "accompat.txt" and "opmn.exe.mdmp" which is said to cause the problems.
    Although
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B13597_05/core.904/b12057/opmntrbl.htm#i1012361
    helps to diagnose the problem it still doesn't provide an able solution for the issue. I would appreciate your help.

  • Apex/OHS issue:log files in opmn consume disk space

    Hi.
    I have installed OHS from Companion CD (10g Rel1) and the new Apex 3.0.

    Please help ...! Thanks in advance ....!

    Hi,
    I believe this is due to a conflict with something else using that port number (6100). One solution would be to edit the opmn config file and change the port from 6100 to something else (such as 6101).

  • OPMN rotation log issue?

    Hi all,
    I already configured my opmn.xml , so that my application log could be rotate based on rotation-size and hour property.
    The rotation done successfully and created new log file well. BUT MY BIG CONFUSING is why the log still write on the previous log that has been rotated???, and my new log file is ignored by application???
    my server is UNIX, is it needs to additional configuration, like set the permission file or other??
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Kahlil

    Sorry to sound little rude but the truth is you have got it all wrong. You are very confused about the terminology and at the same time do not provide clear and complete information. We can continue going back and forth but will not be able to reach to any resolution.
    I will try one more but last time:
    No, I wanna rotate My_APP_NAME.log that generated on .../opmn/logs after I deployed my apps, so based on this reason on previous post I little bit confuse how to state kind of this log, application log or opmn log.First, can I rephrase it to say that when you deploy an application (named "MY_APP_NAME"), it creates a file named "MY_APP_NAME.log" in $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs directory?
    If yes, this should be called your "application log file". Just because it gets created in $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs directory, it does not become OPMN log file.
    If not, again tell us the "exact" name of the log file.
    Second, by default, no application log files get created in $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs directory. If your application is doing it, there has to be something specific to your application.
    I already use the second config :<log path="$ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs/My_APP_NAME.log" comp="internal;ons;pm" rotation-size="1500000" rotation-hour="15"/>
    What you have done above is changed the default opmn log file name from being "opmn.log" to "My_APP_NAME.log". By using this name, it will not automatically become "your application's log file". It will still remain OPMN's log file. No application log messages will be written to this file. Only OPMN log messages will be written to this file, irrespective of the file name.
    and unfortunately failed to re-write on new file after rotating...Are you saying your application log messages are written to this file until it rotates? And once it gets rotated, your application log messages stop getting written to this file? Again, by just changing the name from "opmn.log" to "My_APP_NAME.log" will not make it "your application log". It will still be OPMN's log file and only OPMN log messages will be written to this file.
    Again, I would love to help but with little, incomplete and wrong information, I can't. I would recommend you to call Oracle Support and have it discussed with them on the phone.
    Thanks

  • Error in starting opmn server

    Hello,
    Note: I posted this thread on the Identity Management forum as well. I wanted to post it here too, as I think my problem may be a more generic Application Server one, instead of one specific to Identity Management. If this is improper etiquette, I apologize.
    I have a VM, which is being administered by VMware Lab Manager. The VM is running RHEL 5.1, and has an Oracle 11g database installed.
    I am in the process of trying to install and configure Oracle Internet Directory 11g. To do this, I ran the Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Oracle Identity Management Installer. I selected the "Install Software - Do Not Configure" installation type, and chose to "Configure without a Domain" in order to avoid having to install and administer a WebLogic domain. I set "/data1/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.1" as the Oracle Middleware Home, and "Oracle_IDM1" as the Oracle Home Directory. (To simplify things below, let ORACLE_IDM_HOME refer to the /data1/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.1/Oracle_IDM1" directory... understand that no environment variable exists with this name though.) The installation routine ran successfully.
    But, I ran into a problem while trying to configure the Oracle Identity Management 11g components. I ran the Oracle Identity Management 11g Release 1 Configuration Wizard (ORACLE_IDM_HOME/bin/config.sh). Here are some of the key configuration values that I entered:
    - Oracle Instance Location: /data1/u01/config/oracle/as_admin/asinst_1
    - Oracle Instance Name: asinst_1
    - Select Domain: Configure without a Domain
    - Configure Components: Oracle Internet Directory
    - Configure Ports: Auto Port Configuration
    - Specify Schema Database: Create Schema
    After entering my configuration values and hitting the Configure button, the configuration process started running. Shortly thereafter, under Bootstrap Domain Configuration, "Failed" appeared next to the "Create ASInstance" line, with the following error listed:
    {code}
    Error creating ASInstance asinst_1
    Cause: An internal operation has failed: Error in starting opmn server
    Operation aborted because of a system call failure or internal error
    {code}
    In case it would be helpful, here is the output from the error log for the Oracle Identity Management 11g Configuration Wizard:
    {code}
    oracle.as.provisioning.util.ConfigException:
    Error creating ASInstance asinst_1.
    Cause:
    An internal operation has failed: Error in starting opmn server
    Operation aborted because of a system call failure or internal error

    To get more information, I tried to manually start the opmn server (I set ORACLE_INSTANCE to "/data1/u01/config/oracle/as_admin/asinst_1" and then ran "./opmnctl start" from the ORACLE_IDM_HOME/opmn/bin directory). As expected, the server failed to start. But, I checked the opmn.out file (in the ORACLE_INSTANCE/diagnostics/logs/OPMN/opmn directory), and found the following error repeated several times:
    {code}
    OPMN worker process exited with status 8b. Restarting.
    OPMN worker process exited with status 8b. Restarting.
    OPMN worker process terminated with signal 11 7 times in 10 seconds -- aborting!
    {code}
    Does anyone know what this error means? I am at a loss as to what to do at this point, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

    For what it's worth.... I ran into the same thing on a Linux 64 bit Oracle Enterprise Linux box I had set up. I was just able to resolve the issue after many failed attempts.
    According to the log the instance is actually created successfully, but when opmnctl startall command is called immediately afterwards that's when the badness happens, and it just associates the opmnctl start failure to the ASInstance creation. So I decided to call opmnctl startall from the command line immediately after the failure. At that point SELinux started notifying me that a bunch of lib*.so files that opmnctl needed were being blocked when it was called. I went ahead and disabled the entire SELinux functionality and it worked after that!
    To turn off SELinux edit /etc/selinux/config file. Edit the following line:
    SELINUX=disabled
    Then restart linux, and rerun the OBIEE config again.
    Good Luck, hope that helps someone

  • Issue calling report from a Form(11.1.2).

    Hi,
    I have an existing code in the form to call a report and it seems to be working in the current 10g version of production server and I am migrating forms 10g to 11gR2. My issue here is when, I want to call the report from Forms 11g ( i.e. in developer suite) it is taking the report server as a blank. My Oracle FMW (11.1.2) is installed on the Windows 2008 R2 server. I do not know, if I need to configure the report server locally after the installation of FMW. Please help me out, if someone has faced a similar issue before.

    Hello,
    Usually in development installation report server gets installed by default unless you uncheck it.
    You can find the report server name by:
    a)looking into rwservlet.properties file
    or
    b)as entry in Start > All Programs > Oracle Classic instance - asinst_1 > Reports Services > Start Report Server rep_wls_reports_<hostname>_<InstanceName>
    or
    c)http://<yourhostname>:7001/reports/rwservlet/getserverinfo
    In order to run the report from froms you need:
    -to implement the solution i described in a previous update
    or
    -use a harcoded value in the form
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(rep_Report,REPORT_SERVER,'your_report_server name');
    Since you are in 11gR2 development mode you cannote use EM or OPMN to get the status of the report server as Roberto Suggested.

  • Oracle Report Server Issue with Japanese Characters

    We are trying to setup a Oracle Report Server to print the Japanese characters in the PDF format.
    We have separate Oracle Report servers for printing English, Chinese and Vietnamese characters in PDF formats using Oracle Reports in the production which are running properly with Unix AIX version 5.3. Now we have a requirement to print the Japanese characters. Hence we tried to setup the new server for the same and the configurations are done as same as Chinese/Vietnamese report servers. But we are not able to print the Japanese characters.
    I am providing the details which we followed to configure this new server.
    1.     We have modified the reports.sh to map the proper NLS_LANG (JAPANESE_AMERICA.UTF8) and other Admin folder settings.
    2.     We have configured the new report server via OPMN admin.
    3.     We have copied the arialuni.ttf to Printers folder and we have converted this same .ttf file in AFM format. This AFM file has been copied to $ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/gk/JP_Admin/AFM folder.
    4.     We have modified the uifont.ali (JP_admin folder) file for font subsetting.
    5.     We have put an entry in JP_admin/PPD/datap462.ppd as *Font ArialUnicodeMS: Standard "(Version 1.01)" Standard ROM
    6.     We have modified the Tk2Motif.rgb (JP_admin folder) file for character set mapping (Tk2Motif*fontMapCs: iso8859-1=UTF8) as we have enabled this one for other report servers as well.
    Environment Details:-
    Unix AIX version : 5300-07-05-0831
    Oracle Version : 10.1.0.4.2
    NLS_LANG : JAPANESE_AMERICA.UTF8
    Font Mapping : Font Sub Setting in uifont.ali
    Font Used for Printing : arialuni.ttf (Font Name : Arial Unicode MS)
    The error thrown in the rwEng trace (rwEng-0.trc) file is as below
    [2011/9/7 8:11:4:488] Error 50103 (C Engine): 20:11:04 ERR REP-3000: Internal error starting Oracle Toolkit.
    The error thrown when trying to execute the reports is…
    REP-0177: Error while running in remote server
    Engine rwEng-0 crashed, job Id: 67
    Our investigations and findings…
    1.     We disabled the entry Tk2Motif*fontMapCs: iso8859-1=UTF8 in Tk2Motif.rgb then started the server. We found that no error is thrown in the rwEng trace file and we are able to print the report also in PDF format… (Please see the attached japarial.pdf for your verification) but we are able to see only junk characters. We verified the document settings in the PDF file for ensuring the font sub set. We are able to see the font sub setting is used.
    2.     If we enable the above entry then the rwEng trace throwing the above error (oracle toolkit error) and reports engine is crashed.
    It will be a great help from you if you can assist us to resolve this issue…

    Maybe 7zip or another tool has workarounds for broken file names, you could try that.
    Or you could try to go over the files in the zip archive one-by-one and write it to files out-1, out-2, ..., out-$n without concerning yourself with the file names. You could get file endings back via the mimetype.
    This script might work:
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <zip.h>
    static const char *template = "./out-%04d.bin";
    int main(int argc, char**argv)
    int err = 0;
    zip_t *arc = zip_open((const char*)argv[1], ZIP_RDONLY, &err);
    if(arc == NULL)
    printf("Failed to open ZIP, error %d\n", err);
    return -1;
    zip_int64_t n = zip_get_num_entries(arc, 0);
    printf("%s: # of packed files: %d\n", argv[1], n);
    for(int i = 0; i < n; i++)
    zip_stat_t stat;
    zip_stat_index(arc, i, ZIP_FL_UNCHANGED, &stat);
    char buf[stat.size];
    char oname[sizeof(template)];
    zip_file_t *f = zip_fopen_index(arc, (zip_int64_t)i, ZIP_FL_UNCHANGED);
    zip_fread(f, (void*)&buf[0], stat.size);
    snprintf(&oname[0], sizeof(template), template, i);
    FILE *of = fopen(oname, "wb");
    fwrite(&buf[0], stat.size, 1, of);
    printf("%s: %s => %lu bytes\n", argv[1], oname, stat.size);
    zip_fclose(f);
    fclose(of);
    zip_close(arc);
    return 0;
    Compile with
    gcc -std=gnu99 -O3 -o unzip unzip.c -lzip
    and run as
    ./unzip $funnyzipfile
    You should get template-named, numbered output files in the current directory.
