The problem is that your WLS domain is created in a directory whose path contains blank spaces (e.g. "...\Document and Settings\...").
Please, have a look at this message for a solution: {message:id=9588131}

The loading of OPSS java security policy provider failed due to exception
Hi,
The issue is execution of startWebLogic.cmd failed,once shutting down the system and restarting it.At first time,after the installation ,it worked and I was able to log in to web logic server.I also created boot.properties file with user name and password for web logic server in user_projects/domains/UCM_domain/server/admin server/security folder.
The operating system is windows xp, with 32 bit,oracle web logic version 11g, and UCM version 11.1.1.4.0.
the error log is:
weblogic.security.SecurityInitializationException: The loading of OPSS java security policy provider failed due to exception, see the exception stack trace or the server log file for root cause. If still see no obvious cause, enable the debug flag -Djava.security.debug=jpspolicy to get more information. MikebrosThis issue seems like either a JDK bug or a JVM bug. Do you see any hs_err_pidxxxx.txt files created when appserver gets crashed? If so this is a JVM bug. You could try to upgrade your appserver's jdk to the latest version - 1.5.0_09 and/or ask for help in Java security related forum.

What do I need to install to run this code properly ?Why do you think this is a security problem when the exception is explicitly complaining about being unable to find the class MyServer_Stub?
Have you included the class files for MyServer_Stub in the classpath, or at the codebase?

Thanks,
SantoshIt is quite clear you have an incorrect setting in your weblogic configuration:
Caused By: oracle.security.jps.service.idstore.IdentityStoreException: JPS-00056: Failed to create identity store service instance idstore.ldap.provider:idstore.ldap. Reason: weblogic.security.service.SecurityServiceRuntimeException: Invalid host or port for admin server..
Can you please check your config.xml and ensure your admin host and port is valid? -
Getting the exception : Exception while getting default policy provider

Please provide any workarounds/suggestions.what you can try to do is edit the config.xml file (located in the ${DOMAIN_HOME}/config directory).
Look for the security configuration, realm elements. Just below realm you can add the default authenticator, for example,
<security-configuration>
<name>base_domain</name>
<realm>
<sec:authentication-provider xsi:type="wls:default-authenticatorType"></sec:authentication-provider>
<sec:authentication-provider xsi:type="wls:default-identity-asserterType">

Help : java.security.UnrecoverableKeyException: excess private key
Hi,
I require help for the exception "java.security.UnrecoverableKeyException: excess private key"
When i am trying to generate digital signature using PKCS7 format using bouncyCastle API, it gives the "java.security.UnrecoverableKeyException: excess private key" exception.
The full stack trace is as follows
------------------------------------------------------------------------java.security.UnrecoverableKeyException: excess private key
at sun.security.provider.KeyProtector.recover(KeyProtector.java:311)
at sun.security.provider.JavaKeyStore.engineGetKey(JavaKeyStore.java:120)
at java.security.KeyStore.getKey(KeyStore.java:289)
at com.security.Security.generatePKCS7Signature(Security.java:122)
at com.ibm._jsp._SendSecureDetail._jspService(_SendSecureDetail.java:2282)
at com.ibm.ws.jsp.runtime.HttpJspBase.service(HttpJspBase.java:93)
I had tested the program under following scenarios...
The Java Program for generating the digital signature independently worked successfully(without any change in policy files or java.security file) I have tested this independently on Sun's JDK 1.4, 1.6
For IBM JDK 1.4 on Windows machine for WAS(Webshere Application Server) 6.0, The Program for generating the digital signature using PKCS7 works fine, but it required IBM Policy files(local_policy.jar, US_export_policy.jar) and updation in java.security file
But the problem occurs in Solaris 5.10, WAS 6.0 where Sun JDK 1.4.2_6 is used.
I copied the unlimited strength policy files for JDK 1.4.2 from Sun's site(because the WAS 6.0 is running on Sun's JDK intead of IBM JDK)...
I changed the java.security file as follows(only changed content)
security.provider.1=sun.security.provider.Sun
security.provider.2=com.ibm.security.jgss.IBMJGSSProvider
security.provider.3=com.ibm.crypto.fips.provider.IBMJCEFIPS
security.provider.4=com.ibm.crypto.provider.IBMJCE
security.provider.5=com.ibm.jsse2.IBMJSSEProvider2
security.provider.6=com.ibm.jsse.IBMJSSEProvider
security.provider.7=com.ibm.security.cert.IBMCertPath
security.provider.8=com.ibm.security.cmskeystore.CMSProvider
I have used PKCS12(PFX) file for digital signature
which is same for all environment(i have described as above)
I copied the PFX file from windows to solaris using WinSCP in binary format so the content of certificate won't get currupted.
I can not change the certificate because it's given by the company and which is working in other enviroments absolutely fine(just i have described above)
I have gone though the "http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=408066" and other URLs too. but none of them helped...
So what could be the problem for such exception?????
I am on this issue since last one month...
I know very little about security.
Thanks in advance
PLEASE HELP ME(URGENT)

While I cannot be sure (because I don't have an IBM provider to test this), the error is more than likely related to the fact that the IBM Provider implementations for handling RSA keys internally are different from the SunRsaSign provider. Since you've now forced the IBM provider ahead of the original Sun provider, you're probably running into interpretation issues of the encoded objects inside the keystore.
Change your java.security policy back to the default order, and put your IBM Providers at the end of the original list and run your application to see what happens.

How set policy.provider to be your class?
I have made a class EJBPolicy that extends java.security.Policy (i'm using jdk1.4), and overrides the abstract methods. Then in my java.home folder, I changed the file "java.security" so the property "policy.provider" now reads "EJBPolicy". I also changed the "java.security" file in my installation folder (just to be sure). I do not have that file in "user.home". I also added the EJBPolicy to the classpath (added both the folder it is in, as well as the file itself). Then I ran my application like this:
java -classpath D:\JAAS;D:\JAAS\M -Djava.security.manager -Djava.security.auth.login.config=jaas.conf -Djava.security.policy=jaasazn.policy JaasAzn
The "jaasazn.policy" file gives me the ability to get/set the Policy. I added a method to my policy class called getName(), which returns "EJBPolicy". However, when I do this in my app:
System.out.println(((EJBPolicy)thePolicy).getName());
it results in the error:
java.lang.ClassCastException: sun.security.provider.PolicyFile
If I call Policy.setPolicy() and set it to my class EJBPolicy, then it works. But I thought I was able to make my class the default polciy class. What am I doing wrong?Hello,
at first you should save your origninal rt.jar in jre\lib\.....
You have two way to use you own class:
way a.)
you can create you own jar-file
for a example, my class-files are in e:\....\classes\com\myfile\security :
jar cf myrt.jar com\myfile\security\*.class <-- the new jar file is myrt.jar
I use JBUILDER4-Foundation , in his VM-Option I use the parameter:
-Xbootclasspath:E:\JBuilder4\myproject\MyTest\Classes\myrt.jar;E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\jre\lib\rt.jar
This means, myrt.jar will load at first, then the rt.jar
Jbuilder4 call it so:
E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\bin\javaw -classpath "E:\JBuilder4\myproject\MyTest\classes;E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\demo\jfc\Java2D\Java2Demo.jar;E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\jre\lib\i18n.jar;E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\jre\lib\jaws.jar;E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\jre\lib\rt.jar;E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\jre\lib\sunrsasign.jar;E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\lib\dt.jar;E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\lib\tools.jar" -Xbootclasspath:E:\JBuilder4\myproject\MyTest\Classes\myrt.jar;E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\jre\lib\rt.jar mytest.App
way b.)
if you want to insert your class file in the big rt.jar-file:
jar uf rt.jar com\myfile\security\*.class
so, then you don't need the VM-Option -Xbootclasspath .
If you want to check which Policy-class is loaded:
System.out.println("Es wird folgende Policy classe verwendet");//which policy class is used ?
System.out.println(Policy.getPolicy());// print the policy class
System.out.println("ende der Policy classe info"); // end of policy info
Here is a example of my java.security-file:
#policy.provider=sun.security.provider.PolicyFile
policy.provider=com.myfile.security.MyPolicyFile
# this is my own policy-class
I hope, I could help you,
greetings, jens

Access denied security policy file
All i a simple client which is trying to talk to a remote EJB. When i try and startup the client i get the following error.
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission java.security.policy write)
at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:264)
at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java:427)
at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java:532)
at java.lang.System.setProperty(System.java:699)
at com.db.abmonitor.client.Client.example(Client.java:51)And i am calling it like
System.setProperty("java.security.policy", "client.policy");
if (System.getSecurityManager() == null)
System.setSecurityManager(new RMISecurityManager()); And i have defined a client.policy file in the src directory of the project under eclipse, with the following entries
grant {
permission java.security.AllPermission;
};Anyone got any ideas ?Ah RMI headaches...
here is what i blogged for my own self when i was starting with the RMI security stuff:
Since i havent figured out how to do SecurityManager stuff properly, i can override 2 checkPermission methods in SecurityManager with empty method bodies, thats a quick and dirty fix.
- Alternativly, you can set your policy file located in /lib/security/java.policy to: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/rmi/example-1dot2/java.policy
- or pass the property to the policy location: -Djava.security.policy=./policy.all
maybe that will help...
i think that maybe your policy file isnt being found where it should be -
Is the java.security file the only file that specify the default key store type?
I am building a web services using netbeans. While an error came out saying "invalid keystore format". I think that is because I used to change the default key store type to "jceks" in the java.security file in the [java installation path]\jre\lib\security folder.
I changed it back to "jks". However, the error still exist. I wonder if the java.security file is the only file that defines the default key store type?
Thanks in adv!!!Hi Rohit,
For more info on java security policy file, please refer

Hope this helps!

Javai.dll non-fatal error
I installed WebLogic 5.1 (with SP6) on NT 4 and when I try to run it as a
service, I get "javai.dll not found in specified path" error. After I click
OK, it seems to run ok.
I also noticed the message
"Warning: JIT compiler "symcjit" not found. Will use interpreter."
at the top of the scrolling text when I run WebLogic from the menu.
Any ideas?

Did anyone ever respond to your inquiry?
During performance/load testing I have been encountering Dr. Watson errors
with WebLogic 5.1 sp6 on Windows NT 4 with JDK 1.2.2. BEA support suggested
that I upgrade to Sunsoft SDK 1.3 to get rid of the Dr. Watson errors that
and now I am seeing the same messages that you did when I start WebLogic
server from the DOS command line.
From what I know, javai.dll was included in JDK 1.1.7, but is not packaged
with JDK 1.2.2 or JDK 1.3. Even though I used wlconfig to change from JDK
1.2.2 to JDK 1.3, when I run wlserver from the DOS command line, something
internal to WebLogic must not be recognizing JDK 1.3 and defaulting to JDK
1.1.7. But messages generated during WebLogic startup don't seem to
indicate that this is the problem.

The message about "symcjit" results from the WebLogic property
java.compiler=symcjit in the wlconfig. I think that this needs to be
changed to java.compiler=javac with JDK 1.3, since BEA indicates that JIT
should be turned off for JDK 1.3.
I'd be curious what you did to get around these errors.

Difficulties loading custom security Policy object.....
I just finished reading the white paper entitled When java.policy Just Isnt Good Enough and I found a lot of good information for creating my own extension of java.security.Policy. Im having a difficult time figuring out how to (best) load the policy, and Ill explain why, but first Id like to make sure that Im extending the Policy class correctly. Dont worry, Ill be as brief as possible. My class looks something like this with a few more permissions than what i've included here (for brevity):
public class MyPolicy extends Policy {
private static MyPolicy INSTANCE = new MyPolicy();
private PermissionCollection perms = new Permissions();
private MyPolicy() {
constructPerms();
public static MyPolicy getInstance() {
return INSTANCE;
public PermissionCollection getPermissions(CodeSource arg0) {
return perms;
public void refresh() {
// permissions won't change, so nothing necessary here!
public void constructPerms() {
// Im adding other permissions, but here are a few basic ones just for the idea:
perms.add(new PropertyPermission("java.version", "read"));
perms.add(new PropertyPermission("java.vendor", "read"));
perms.add(new PropertyPermission("java.vendor.url", "read"));
}I have this class in a package that will reside inside of a jar on the target machine. The jar will be wrapped in an executable, and well be distributing a JRE directory that will reside in the same (installation) directory as the executable. Im not sure how to specify this as my Policy implementation on startup of the JVM. For security reasons, I want to rely as little as possible on security stuff outside of my exe-wrapped-jarfile. I can pass whatever parameters I want to the JVM, including Xbootclasspath, but Im not sure what I need to get things working this way.
I tried another approach. I dont really like it, but I just wanted to try it this way to test my Policy implementation. I edited my java.policy file to look like this:
grant {
// Custom permissions to allow app to load
// and then set MyPolicy as Policy object:
permission java.security.SecurityPermission "getPolicy";
permission java.security.SecurityPermission "setPolicy";
permission java.util.PropertyPermission "stuff.*", "read,write";
};And then in my main() method, I loaded it like this:
Policy myPolicy = MyPolicy.getInstance();
Policy.setPolicy(myPolicy);But that doesnt seem to work because Im getting an AccessControlException: access denied (java.awt.AWTPermission replaceKeyboardFocusManager)
Even though I have this permission in my implementation:
perms.add(new AWTPermission("replaceKeyboardFocusManager"));Do you have any ideas what Im doing wrong, or how I could fix them? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
SteveHey
I have just finished such a policy implemention - boy could I have done with your help!
I've never seen the java.security.debug property before - not to say it doesn't exist, but don't confuse system properties and security properties. Try setting it programmatically via Security.setProperty() or the Java Admin console [if you can], or even in the JRE WebStart uses via the java.security file.
When you run it locally with security switched on, do you observe the 3-to-1 behaviour also? I'm not sure if this is important - depends on your answer. As for the checks being performed from the same stack frame, the AC iterates over the protection domains as it checks them; the 3-to-1 behaviour is the result of there being 3 extra frames to check, possibly due to the fact your executing from JWS [although I'd expect JWS to be considered system code]. If the execution in AC gets to return null; then Debug.isOn("failure") must evaluate to true [...I'd slump in my chair at this point] but there's no way to figure out accurately what the semantics of this is AS THERE'S NO FRICKIN SRC AVAILABLE [...this really annoys me]. The only thing I can suggest for that is to not try and switch debugging on.
I suspect you are using JAAS [hence the dynamic policy need]? I have an idea if you are.
I totally know what you mean about the sleepless nights mate - I'm glad I done it all now, learnt all about security within Java which I knew nothing about 6 months ago.

Error in weblogic7.0 :java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException:
Hi All
thanks in advance.
i am facing a peculiar problem while using SunJce provider
i have some classes to encrypt& decrypt some information using
DeffieHellman protocol.
Problem 1
while i am running those classes in command prompts
some time it gives me correct results where as other time during decryption i am unable to get the plaintext (i am getting some junk character),where as some time it gives me Badpadding exception
I am using JDK1.3 which comes with weblogic and jce1.2.2
for classpath and path setting
set path=D:\bea\jdk131_03\bin
set classpath=%classpath%; D:\bea\jdk131_03\jre\lib\ext\ jce1_2_2.jar

While i am using those classes in servlet and jsp which are deployed in weblogic 7
Some time i am getting correct results
but as i stop and start the weblogic server ,i am getting .NoSuchAlgorithmException.

Thanks
And regards
Aratireplace all calls of getBytes() and new String(text) with the versions where you can state a charset: getBytes(charset), new String(text, charset). i use "iso-8859-1" as the charset.
this should at least fix your "Badpadding exception" problem (it did fix it for me).
