Optimize forms view in Infopath 2010 for email submit in Outlook 2010

I have an infopath form I designed.  I setup an email submit rule to send only the active view of the form with no attachment.
 However when I submit and check my outlook inbox the form looks very stretched in the body of the email.  Any ideas on how to modify the forms active view so it is optimized in Outlook 2010?
I only have 1 view; and multiple views are not required.

Hi Gopikishan,
From your description, when Approver2 click Open this task in Outlook, no Approve button displayed on the form. If I misunderstood, please point it out.
I created a simple approval workflow in SharePoint Designer and assigned it to Admin and user1, choosing serial (one at a time). As I could see in the workflow setting page, there is only one form in Forms block. And I opened it in my InfoPath form, it displayed
as I clicked Open this task in Outlook.
So I’d recommend you check if there is more than one form in workflow setting page. And also check if there is any rule which will affect on whether Approval button shows or not.

  • Interactive Form viewed on Adobe Reader for iOS submit problem

    We have created some interactive .pdf forms that, when completed and the submit button is pressed, will access your email client, populate the "To" and "CC" fields as directed in the form script and send the form as an attachment.
    Those fields are left blank on both the iPhone and iPad when accessing the forms via the Adobe Reader app.
    I have not yet been able to test them on an Android operating system.
    This is the URL of one of the forms:http://www.trinitylutheranlcms.org/forms/faith_chest_class_registration.pdf
    Is this a bug or have we missed something?

    The current submit mailto: capability is limited in that it doesn't process tokens like "cc=" and in some cases, it doesn't process multiple recipients.  This is something we are expecting to have fixed in a future release.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to add User Permissions to form created in InfoPath 2010 created for SharePoint document Library

    Hi,
    I created a form in InfoPath 2010 with three views (one for user input, the other two views to be used by supervisors) and published this to a SharePoint 2010 document library. Now the way this form is supposed to work is that when a User goes to the document
    library and adds a document, it is supposed to open the Form with the User's input view. When the User submits the document, only him/her should be able to open and possibly edit the the form. When the Immediate Supervisor opens the form, it should open in
    the Supervisors view and allow them to fill in only their section and not be able to edit or alter the user's data. When the Immediate Supervisor saves the document, the Over-all Supervisor should be able to open it in their view and not be able to edit or
    alter the sections filled out by the User and Immediate Supervisor.
    How would i go about completing this? I have the views created but now have the problem of associating these views with their respective users or groups.

    Hello,
    You need to first create user group in sharepoint site then add user in group according to their role. Later you need to call usergroup.asmx web service to get current logged-In user group name so you can switch view and also apply rule for editing or disabling
    controls in form.
    Follow this link to get group name:

  • Customising a List Form View without Infopath

    Hello,
    I have a basic form I am using in sharepoint 2013 (standard) that is based off a list.
    What is the best way to customize the view form page of this list without infopath? Will I have to do it within the code via SPD?
    Thanks
    Sean

    We use HTML and a javascript framework (jQuery, KnockOut, Angular, etc).
    Deployments are usually pretty light (we avoid WSPs), and skillset is easier to find (compared to someone who knows about WSPs). Also, I tend to feel that it's more upgrade proof.

  • Formatting for email sent to Outlook 2007 client

    I'm sure you are aware of Microsoft's decision to start using
    the html parser from Word 2007 to display html emails in Outlook
    2007. As with so many other developers, this is causing the emails
    I created with cfmail to fail.
    The basic fix is to (pretty well) stop using CSS and go back
    to tables. But, even at that, Word 2007 does not recognize many
    common tags. In my case, the "wrap" command doesn't work for any
    tag (such as "textarea") so all my fields will only stretch to the
    right until all the data is displayed. This means the client can
    not print out the form and see all the data.
    Can someone give me an idea how to cause data to wrap in a
    table or textarea field without the use of the "wrap" command? For
    example, one field can hold 100 characters but the field is only 40
    characters long on the web page. For printing, the data would wrap
    and extend the field down the form to display all the data.
    I hate it when companies "improve" there products by making
    us take a step back in time.
    Thank you.

    Dans code works for me but I am being told that my company may lock down utl_smtp and I am being "encouraged" to use APEX_MAIL instead. I have traded emails with Dan and he mentioned that APEX_MAIL works differently and that I needed to change the invite portion to an attachment. So I need to take my varchar2 with the invite text, write it to a file then attach that file.
    Thanks for responding.

  • How to populate drop down list in infopath 2010 with form library column

    I created one column of choice type and have put 3 values on this column in form library in site.
    and one drop down list in form library at infopath 2010 but how to populate the dropdown in infopath populate with this column.

    Hi John, you should either add the values to your InfoPath dropdown manually or create a new list in SharePoint with the values and make a connection to that list to populate your dropdown.

  • Validate before email submit via Distribute form method

    Hi,
    We have a form that we would like to send out via the "Distribute Form" feature on LiveCyle.
    The form is curently implemented with a "Button" on the form, when clicked would activate a "Email submit button" which would do validation and then fire the emailing processing of the form. However, this does not work well when using the "Distribute Form" feature as the "Distributed" version of the file adds in a seperate "Submit form" button on the top right which does not use the same event handler that we currently have been using.
    So if a user chooses the "Submit Form" button that appears on the "distributed" version of the form, we are not able to control the validation aspects of the form. i.e. there is no event handler that we can attach for the MouseUp or Click events for this button. We did try using the main form's PreSubmit event handler but could not figure how to stop execution if validation fails?
    Hope the above makes sense? (I could provide a sample if required)
    Thanks.

    use validate property which returns validationresultevent:
    nameValidator = new StringValidator();
    nameValidator.source = name_lb;
    nameValidator.property = "text";
    nameValidator.minLength = 4;
    var r:ValidationResultEvent = nameValidator.validate();
    if(r.type == ValidationResultEvent.INVALID)
    Alert.show(r.message);
    // invalid.

  • Email submit button is not working

    Now facing strange problem for email submit button. A custome script (event.target.submitForm) is used for sending mail. It is working well adobe reader 9.1 but getting block Acrobat X pro. Also update reader can not submit the form by mail.
    A pop box appears which says Acrobat does not allow the connection to:..........
    I was trying to allow the restriction but not get any option to select. Edit > preferences > Trust Manager > change setting > under manage internet access I cannot edit any option.
    Has adobe changed any policy? How can I submit form by email?

    The email button can only work for Reader users if the document is Reader-enabled with Acrobat (or LiveCycle Reader Extensions). Do you have Acrobat?
    For the text field problem, you just have to make them multiline. In LiveCycle Designer, select a text field, open the Object palette, and select "Allow Multiple Lines" on the Field tab. You may want to also select "Limit Length to Visible Area".

  • Pdf Email submit - Mac compatibility

    I have created a simple form in Windows XP with an email submit button on it. The Mac user can fill the form out, but is not able to submit it by email. Should I expect them to be able to submit this form by email? If not, what options do I have.
    Regards,
    Drew

    E-mail submission is not recommended, even if it is discussed in the manual. Such submission depends too much on the client machine setup and you have probably run into that with a MAC. You should always submit form data to a web site for processing. You may need to use the FDF Toolkit or such.
    Actually, this remark applies to the mailto that folks try to use for HTML forms also. It is a can of worms and is not recommended even in HTML.

  • How to restrict views in MS INFOPATH 2010 based on a user Login id

    Hi,
    I am the Admin of the Time Reporting SharePoint tool for my project. When a user enters/edit a time report ,it is done via an Infopath 2010 form. This form has 2 views:
    1. For the normal users to see (default view)
    2. For the Admins only.
    What i want is that when a normal user(not an admin) logs in to the site to change his/her time report and opens this form,that person will only be able to see the default view . If an admin logs in then he/she can swicth between both the views .
    Currently i am unable to provide any such functionality. Even a normal user is able to see both the views which i want to restrict.
    Pelase let me know how do i restrict the normal users to the default view only based on their login ID.They shouldnt be able to switch views at all.
    But if an admin logs on then both the views should be accessible.
    I am new to InfoPath , so please let me know from scratch. I need only out of box solution for this as i cannot perform any kind of coding due to site restriction.
    Regards,
    Guru

    Hi ,
    My problem is still not resolved. I tried applying the people picker property and set a specific field(an email id field) to be available to only admins. Now the field is not visible to the normal users but only admins which is good but that email field
    should be able to take normal users as wel as admin's email ID. currently due to the people picker property it only takes admin's ID and not normal user's ID - which is not as per expectation.
    What this email ID field does is - when a normal user is logged in he/she wont see this field in that view. But when an admin logs in he/she can switch to admin view and see this field . The admin can put any user's ID in this field and pull out the required
    resource's Time Report for modification.
    Please let me know how do i overcome my problem. Detailed step description will be very helpfull .
    As per Cameron's suggestion (add a rule on the "additional admin section") , i am not sure how exactly that is done. Would help a lot if i got to know how this works.
    Regards,
    Guru

  • Is it possible to edit a custom form created in SPD 2010 in Infopath 2010

    I created a custom form in SPD, and need to use Infopath to further modify the form using features not available in SPD.  But I can't get Infopath to open the custom form. Even if I selected the custom form in SPD and then click "Edit with Infopath"
    in the ribbon, it still opens the default form.  From list ribbon, it also always opens the default form, there is no way I can pick the form I want to edit.
    Just want to confirm - Infopath can only edit default form (from SPD or the list ribbon), but not any form custom built in SPD.
    Correct?

    Hi QuickLaunch,
    When edit SharePoint list forms in Infopath 2010, it always opens the original default Edit Form of the list.
    It is impossible to edit a custom form created in SPD 2010 in Infopath 2010.
    I suggest you Customizing SharePoint List Forms

    Hi,
    I understand that when you click on Edit this task in the message bar in InfoPath 2010, nothing happens. Does this happen when you open the email which contains the ‘Edit this task’ link?
    If so, you can try to check whether this key is in your regedit. If so, you can delete this key and have a test.:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
    Back up the regedit keys before making any changes. For more information about backup and restore the regedit, please refer to these sites:

  • SharePoint 2010 and InfoPath 2010 - Load data from another form

    Hello,
    I have two questions on this topic.
    Is it possible to open an empty InfoPath form and give the user the option of loading it with data from a previously submitted form?  They want the ability to save some time of filling in some fields that were entered in an earlier form.  Any description
    of how or a link would be appreciated.
    Also, if I create an InfoPath form template in a SharePoint Form Library like above, the user would like to be able to have multiple forms associated with each other.  There would be some key that packaged them with each other.  Then from within
    one of the form, there would be an option to submit the whole "package" at once.  All the forms associated with that one key.  Again, any examples or links would help.
    Thank you!

    You can use InfoPath Query Data connection to point to a library / list where your data is located.
    For loading data, you should be using Form Load event, and then populate ID's to a Drop down list.
    when the user selects the ID from the Drop Down list, you can write another rule to query data based on the ID's from the list and store the values in your current form.
    For the second question, you should try creating a single form with multiple views. and show hide views based on user or business logic.
    You can write multiple submit rules to submit Form data to different different library / list.
    here are some links for your reference -

  • Assigning View permission to all the users that have been selected in contact selector - SP 2010, InfoPath 2010

    I have a SharePoint InfoPath 2010 browser form with item level security. Only submitter
    and approvers has access to the form.  This form contains a people picker that is populated with the names of attendees
    for the meeting they attended (which
    I am able to store in Field2 below). I want to allow attendees to be able to view (grant view permission) the InfoPath form. Field 2 has the users in form of domain\user1;domain\user2; etc. Following the below step, I am getting error when I ADD or REPLACE
    permission on current item. How do I go about assigning view permission to all the users that have been selected in contact selector?
    Jitu

    Hi ,
    i understand that the text box and the people picker hold multiple user names and you want to grant user permission based on the user in the text box.
    I have a test based on your description,the results are: When there are multiple users in the text box, the workflow will throw an error'Error Occurred'.It is the same with the people picker column.
    You need to limit the peopel picker to only allow to select one user,in this way the text box will only hold one user.Then you can use the people picker or the text box to grant user permission.
