I bought my first iPod (Click Wheel, B&W screen) in January 2005. It began to have problems (skipping songs, freezing, etc) in April and I sent it in for a repair.
My new iPod worked fine until earlier this year when the same problems arose. I fixed this by restoring it and not downloading any more iPod updates (they seemed to cause the problem). A month or so ago, the same problems occured again. Being an expert at dealing with these by then, I began by restarting my Pod, hoping that it was just a mild glitch. Since then I have not been able to turn my iPod back on. It reaches the Exclamation Folder, but never goes past that. I've had trouble getting it to the menu screen before, but I can always get there eventually. But after a month of trying, and checking every trick on these boards, I realize it's not going to happen.
So, now I have an iPod paperweight on my hands. I'm way out of warranty, so I might as well buy a new one rather than getting it repaired. I'm pretty sure that's my only option, since any fixes would require getting to the menu screen, but I was wondering if anyone could think of any other possibilities that cost less and result in me having a working iPod.
Personally, I'm pretty upset that I've had three major problems, across two iPods, in the past year and a half. I'm careful with it, I rarely (if ever) drop it or bump it, and yet they keep malfunctioning on me. I love iPods, but this is getting a bit ridiculous. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is that your iPod's hard drive has malfunctioned. It's not a rare thing. You can buy a new one.

Jabber Options - Phone Accounts - Voicemail -- "Spinning Wheel"

Been trying to resolve a nagging issue.   We currently have CUCM 8.6.2-20000-2, CUPS 8.6.4-10000-28 and just put up Unity Conn 9.1. Jabber Win clients are 9.2(1).   Several people have not been able to integrate voicemail into the Jabber client.
We are totally MS AD integrated.   In CUPS, I had Applications -> Cisco Jabber -> Settiings Credentials Used For Voicemail service set to CUPS so the user would not need to supply credentials. To help me debug, I went and changed this setting to "Not Set" so that the Phone Accounts option appears in Jabber 4 Win client.
So far all the people who do not work access the Phone Accounts setting in the Jabber client see the "Spinning Wheel".   They can't see the fields to enter their AD creds and the voicemail server.   Reinstall of the client does not seem to help. There seemed to be a bug that described this but I think it was fixed in 9.1(2). You can't display the Bug description because it contains proprietary info.
I have attached a screen shot of my Jabber Client Phone Account -- when I enter the credentials, I log in fine.
Anyone seen this or know how to fix?

Well, I had TAC look at this issue. Short story is that it was an issue with one of the *many* local cache files which hid the real source of the problem. I actually had the Mailstore misconfgured in CUPS. I used the Exchange server's CAS IP instead of Unity Connection.   We created new Mailstore definition that used the Unity Conn IP's, created a new Voicemail Profile and associated the user to that profile.   She worked....
I deleted my all my Jabber for Windows local cache files and I then received the "spining wheel" issue. I moved my ID to the new Voicemail Profile with correct Mailstore and I could connect fine.   TAC spent an hour pouring through files on my PC and could not find the reason why my ID was working.   TAC indicates that in 9.x, a lot of this configuration moves to CUCM and hopefully cuts down on these issues! PRT files from the Jabber client really did not assist them in locating the problem.

i had a question regarding when writing something with the text option in photoshop, you then have the option of making it smooth, strong, sharp, crisp.
What do these options do to the text? i cant really notice the difference, is there a recommended option for print or web that i should be using?

Depends on a number of factors:
how you want the type to look
resolution
file format (eg: gif or jpeg)
Font attributes: weight, serif thickness, webfont
so the answer would be very long. But thismakes an important differecne for low resoltuon digital graphics, and not so much for print.
None - Applies no anti-aliasing
Sharp - Type appears at its sharpest
Crisp - Type appears somewhat sharp
Strong - Type appears heavier
Smooth - Type appears smoother

HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 color M551dn - Optional USB Device port

Hi, I'm hoping to buy the optional wireless print server (HP Jetdirect 2700w USB Wireless Print Server J8026A). There is one problem though, the optional USB device port seems to not exist on my printer. I only notice that the USB logo is present where the port is supposed to be. The plastic in the area is squared off as though it is some sort of break away tab and the port is underneath maybe.
There is no reference to this in the manual anywhere and I am really unsure how to proceed. I don't want to damage anything.
If someone experienced with this model (preferably an HP Employee) can confirm the availability of the port and tell me how to access it (Is it a break away tab?). Part of the reason why I bought this printer is the optional Wireless N print server.

Thank You for your reply. The port you are talking about is the front panel port for walk-up usb printing and firmware upgrades. This port is indeed available on the higher end LaserJet 500 (NON-MFP, printer only edition) as I just used it to upgrade the firmware. The port I am talking about is the one on the left side in the ports section which you use to plug in the optional print server (not the computer I/O port).
This is shown in the official manual and the spec sheet so I'm 85% sure the port is there, hp can't advertise and mention something that is not available as this would be a big problem and make the 2700w print server incompatible when it clearly states that it is. I just need someone to confirm the availability and clear my confusion (either from HP, or another owner who bought the wireless print server 2700w).

In adobe bridge in Tools menu below the cache submenu it only says "process collections in Photoshop". It does not give me the option to "load images in layers is Photoshop"

If all the items do not appear, consider resetting Bridge Preferences.
Close Bridge, hold down Command-Option-Shift (PC: Control-Alt-Shift) and then launch Bridge again. A dialog will appear asking what you want to do. Turn on the Reset Preferences checkbox and click OK. Now when Bridge appears, the preferences are factory-fresh.

How to provide text formatting options to user from a text field

Hi,
My requirement is - in the interactive form, a comments field needs to be provided where user should be able to enter text with formatting options like
Headers
indentations
bold/italic
bullet points and numbers
Once user enters the formatted texts in a text field, data needs to be displayed/printed in the same format. Could you help me on how to provide these formatting options to the user for a particular text field?
I understand that once I define the text field with format XHTML (with RTF), user formatting can be captured and displayed in the same way. But I am not sure on how to provide the formatting options for the text field.

Hi,
if you select a text field for Rich Text and the press Ctrl + E you'll get a bar for all available text formatting options in Acrobat/Reader.

Text Wrap Options have Disappeared ID CS4

All the icons in my Text Wrap window have disappeared. The tab/pallet is still there, but empty. The pop out still lists “Show Options” and “Apply to Master Page Only” are still there, but grayed out. Thanks in advance for any help!!

Text Wrap options not showing in InDesign CS3

Using InDesign CS3 on a Mac 10.4. I've had this problem for a couple of months now and it's getting past the point of annoying. When I open my text wrap options pallete it's blank even when I expand options. I can see the text wrap icons in my header panel, but I no longer have options to change the right/left/top/bottom margins. Just a general "add wrap" and "remove wrap". Is there any way I can get my pallete back? I've tried defaulting my tools, but still it does not show up. I don't know what to do to get it back.

Did you try resetting preferences? While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files. If you don't get the message about deleting preferences, you weren't fast enough.

Text Caption options not applied

Hi,
I'm trying to add a text caption with a transparent style.
however when I try to modify font, font size, or color no change is
being applied. If I switch to the Adobe Blue caption style I can
modify color, but not font size. Any idea why this is

I happened across a weird issue just last night that was resolved by choosing a different ActionScript version. I'm wondering if you can try this to see if there is a change in behavior.
Click Edit > Preferences > Project > Publish Settings and whatever it's set to AS2 or AS3, try the other option and see if it changes your outcome.

Text Annotation Options

I am making slides with text annotations and I am hoping I am
not limited to the cartoon-like boxes that are in the text options.
I am looking for something alittle more professional, hopefully
with some arrows. Please let me know! :)

There are a number of different Caption styles available. If
you don't like the list you see, scroll to the bottom and choose
"<Custom>". This should allow you to browse. If you look
where the Captions are, you should find a "More" folder. See if any
of those appeal to you. If none of those appeal to you, you are
free to create your own.

I have been using text editor control.
In this when we click load file button...an open prompt window appears..
there we will be finding Files of type... dropdown..containing values like text(.txt) file and All file types..
Is there any way to restrict this dropdown to single value..i mean to .txt file..should only be viewed omitting

i am using CL_GUI_TEXTEDIT..control...
Is there any option to do it...

I don't think there is any method for this. As the dialog box opened is depending on your OS.
But, you can cross check the uploaded file for " .txt " using CP (contains pattern) function of string.
DATA: xl type string.
xl = '*.txt'.
IF not P_FILE CP xl. "P_FILE is name of file you will get.
"Error"
ENDIF.

Hi,
Is there a list somewhere which outlines more text formatting options than what is shown in the FAQ?
In particular I'm wondering how to make text that does not suppress white space other than using the "code" tag.
Also, the insert link option a shown above does not seem to work, or am I just stupid?

Instead, I'm using [ url=<insert link here> ] text [ /url ] (without the extra spaces in tags). Normal html link tag might work as well.

Text wrap options are greyed out

Hi,
I am trying to create a "drop cap" by selecting a text box and changing the wrap options in the inspector however, the "object placement" options to wrap the text are greyed out and I can not change them, except for the options below, such as "object causes to wrap" check box and the "text fit" boxes.
Is this a glitch? I have restarted both my program and whole computer, as well as tried it in a new document, and it still is coming up greyed out.
HELP, I have a project due and I need to be able to add in drop caps!

Text input options missing

Hi,
After running some updates yesterday, the "show text input options" is no longer available in the options. Neither can I select suretype when writing a message. Would appreciate some help.

Had to re-boot after removing an application and everything back to normal! What bugs me is that my service provider tech never brought up a re-boot but rather wanted me to delete all my data and start all over!

Some of my friends have 2 or 3 numbers.. My problem is, if they send me a text message, i dont know which number they used, is there any option to display contact number or message detail?

Text message options LG Revolution

I am just trying to understand what a symbol means. I'm thinking that I just recently changed settings to "Request a deliver report for each message you send". When I send a text to someone who is in my contacts but not a verizon customer there is a symbol at bottom of message on right that is a green message box and it has a clock over it. I'm not sure what this means. Message says sent but when I check the message options and "view report" it says for status "pending". So how do I interpret this?? Does it mean message never received by recipient?? Thanks for help.

I know delivery confirmations can be a great way to check if those important messages are getting through peaches1965! Are you receiving the same pending status for Verizon Wireless numbers? For non-Verizon Wireless numbers, delivery confirmation is not guarantee due to carrier network differences. I hope this general information was helpful.
